Sounds like Cascadian was having a really bad day. That can definitely affect the mood and how one reacts to people. Hope your back is feeling better now. I'm so glad my mother was with me when we were dealing with an extremely rude associate one day when I had kidney stones. I asked her if she could manage while I went and sat in the truck with heated seats on. We were never rude to the associate, never raised our voices, were never unreasonable. She just came at us with a bad attitude and was snippy-- probably having a bad day. But we know she knew how to behave properly because her tone changed completely when her supervisor came over. She was being rude to all the customers up until then. The store had misplaced something we ordered and had come to pick up so we went home empty handed. I called their CS to get some help on either finding it or getting a new one and mentioned the particular associate by name and described her behavior. I got 20% discount and the next time an employee called I asked her to please check to verify it was actually there and she did. Assured me she had her hand on it as we spoke and to come get it. She was much nicer.

Got sick last week and still don't have my appetite back. Haven't been throwing up or anything, but nauseous and lack of appetite. I alternated between chills and sweating. It was in the 60s tempwise and I was sweating. 72-hr antiperspirant failed in less than 5min. Within 2 minutes of getting dressed to take Mom to an appointment I was sweating. Almost asked my brother to drive her bc I felt so bad. My clothes were almost soaked by the time we left the doctor's office. The NP said Mom is showing signs of kidney damage. It can still be reversed but she's concerned something she's taking is causing it. I hope it's not the type of insulin. I mentioned that the urologist said she went into kidney failure when she had ketoacidosis but her kidneys had been OK after that. All the doctor was saying was that her kidneys are a little dry and she needs to drink more water. She's supposed to get set up with an appointment for the urologist in town instead of the one all the way in Eunice at least.

Meanwhile, we got a letter that we thought was addressed to my brother that must have been meant for my late father (same name). It was some development company wanting to buy our property. I heard the price and thought they wanted to buy the back 12+acres, but no, they wanted all 31+. The price they offered was less than the front 18 acres cost to buy back in the 80s. But now I'm worried they might try some sort of shenanigans to run us off or try to steal our land. Maybe I read too many reddit stories of landgrab attempts... From satellite view it looks like our fence may have been cut and trespassers may have been coming in. When my brother told me what the letter said my response was "They can go to hell!" and my brother told me it wasn't my decision. I told him that I knew what Mom would say. So when we told her she said "They can go to hell!" LOL.

Never, and I mean never, buy a military surplus gun from a communist country then. There is more thick nasty lube in of those than in the men's room of a dark alley bar in San Francisco.
How did you come to know about men’s rooms in sick Francisco?
I never been to sick Francisco, but I would not tell you if I had been there.

I was born in San Francisco. Lol.
Anyway, I'm currently sitting off the side of the road with hazard lights on bc my back tire popped and spare tire is busted. Tow truck guy said he was 50 minutes out but said he'd try to get here faster. Brother came and picked up Mom and the groceries.
Glad I recognized the sound when the tire died and pulled over immediately.

Yeah. Tow truck guy made good time. He saw the note that I was staying with the vehicle so he rushed. Said he likes to try to handle all calls within a certain area first, but he always calls the customers to find out if they are leaving the vehicle or staying with it. If the person is staying with it he prioritizes them and tries to get to them asap. Nice dude. Said he had 5 calls before me. He was hoping to have the day off and was just about to relax when all the calls came in at once. And something leaked on his other rig. Said he had to go to Texas over it and that he'd been back and forth all over the place. Also said he hasn't had a day off in 3 months. Was told that's a labor law violation. He stopped to get food at Walmart (had the truck towed there for their auto center-- they have security cameras to keep an eye on things). He parked in the fire lane to go to the deli and saw me walking in and said "You think they'll have me towed?" and my brother said "They may call you to tow it!"

Wish he could have towed it to the other tire place that does installations and has tires cheaper. I want to get a used tire temporarily that can be used as a spare-- sometimes Keno has them for under $50. But really need to get 4 new tires. Saw some Predator all terrain ones for a decent price but they are not in stock at Walmart. I wonder if I can buy tires from another Walmart and get them installed at the local one... Since my spare tire is toast and local place couldn't fix it or replace it-- I forget what Keno said was the reason-- I'd have to either buy one from Honda or modify the holder in the trunk for a full size tire. It's a 245 60R18 so it's a decent sized tire.

Don't you just hate it when you've been washing loads of clothes all day, you finally heard the beeper for the last load in the dryer, but you were lazy and let things set there for a few hours - and when you finally drug you butt over there to get things out you found the dryer empty? Because that beep you heard hours ago was the washer finishing, not the dryer? I hate it when that happens.

Mini rant: I don't think anyone will be happier than me when November 5th has come and gone.
I watch FOX News all afternoon and evening for, (who woulda guessed), NEWS!
For the last 6 months, nothing but nonstop yap about the 2 candidates, all damday!View attachment 164950
Like there is no news going on in the whole world. :(
I would give anything to be fly on the newsroom wall when they all stare at each other and scream:
"What are we gonna talk about now!!!gaah"
Don't turn it on! I used to have my television on all darned day, even if I wasn't watching it, until the pandemic and Fauci! Honestly, read a book, go for a walk, visit with friends, work in the yard, clean a gun. It is just invading your head and its a pack of b.s.

I got home from a housesitting job yesterday. I got a text today that one of my white socks was there. It is not uncommon for socks to go missing while I am staying with dogs. Underwear is another thing that they like to grab and run off with.
Dogs like things that smell like their favorite people!!

My current dogs don't seem to care about socks or undergarments, but Fippy likes to steal Mom's pants, nightgowns, shirts, etc and make nests. Princess will steal pants, blankets, pillows, sweaters, etc for her nests. We used to have a Siamese cat that would steal Mom's fuzzy pink socks. She would wander around with them meowing as if she'd caught a mouse.

Keno's didn't have any of the used tires. Ended up having to pay $112 for the tire plus $30 for mounting it.

I tripped over my brother's trash today and I complained to him about it and he just rolled his eyes at me. For some reason he really thinks I should have to clean up his messes. He doesn't have a job right now so it's not like he can use the excuse of being employed (but he never contributed to the household financially when he was working). He actually told my mother that he would pay rent but that if he paid rent it meant he didn't have to do ANY chores-- including cleaning up after himself. Not that he actually does any chores anyway, but he lives in this fantasy land where paying rent magically takes away other responsibilities. He said even if he signed a lease and the tenancy agreement said he had to take out the trash 2x a week or something he said that he wouldn't do it bc he thinks its not legal and that it can't be enforced. I really don't know what he thinks he would do if he actually did move out again. Both times he moved out he couldn't manage on his own and came back.

Meanwhile, i saw a vehicle I liked that we were considering buying. It was listed as having no accidents reported. Then I googled the VIN and found that the no accidents thing was a lie. Sucker had a salvage title. I found pictures of it with the entire front end destroyed. In small print the listings for it said it has a "bonded title". I had to google what that meant. So now I have to look for that in vehicle searches and can't trust the "no accidents" thing.

ONE MORE POLITICAL AD and I may murder my TV.

And all I can smell is wheel Bearing grease :p

And had to order new lights for the trailer, easier than troubleshooting.

I use treats and exchange whatever for a treat, at least when I know he has something that he shouldn't. Not all dogs are treat oriented, but he is.
He is very treat oriented, and all I have to do is say the word! But sometimes the thrill of underwear is too much for him.
A funny thing he does is bring one of his favorite toys (rubber banana dog or frisbee) and drop it next to something he wants to take of yours. Like an exchange.

Dishnetwork lets me pause stuff so what I like to do is pause for several minutes while I do something else and then I fastforward through commercials.
Anyway, I think my AC's refrigerant all leaked out again because it won't cool. It got too warm again and it's hot as hell inside. Also, my brother was lecturing me on how stupid I am to think that some new strikeplates I got might be able to fix his door-- they are specifically designed to fix issues like he was having. His door hasn't closed properly in years. He's had to prop a ladder against it. But he went and used one of the strike plates and it fixed his door. No apology for how rude he was to me about it AND the douchewaffle left the packaging for the strikeplate on the floor outside his room.

For some reason there are flies in the house and they are bugging me. I'm already having hot flashes but being over 80 degrees inside has me sweating. I need to find the source of the leak for the coolant. I suspect the repair guy didn't seal it properly when he filled it but I could be wrong. I may call a different AC service on Monday-- maybe get the guys who installed the outside unit to come out and see if they can find the leak.

Best friend has kidney stones so he can't help with anything. He's feeling really crappy and his work has him doing stuff that is not part of his actual job. He's a repair technician but they are having him do that job plus the job of cashier/associate etc-- he's basically having to do the job my brother used to do on top of tech stuff and he's the ONLY employee in that area. He can't even take his mandatory breaks because there is no one to relieve him. But New Horizons is being cheap and refusing to give hours to the people who are supposed to be doing the work they are making him do because they don't want to be "high on labor". He currently doesn't have medical insurance because his company has horrible insurance with high premiums he can't afford-- but their coverage is garbage anyway. He tried to get on his wife's insurance but they rejected that and said he needs to get insurance with his own company. His wife's insurance has much better coverage.

You gotta love Amazon's attempts at price trickery:

View attachment 165123

No, the price did not drop by 21% ... the die now costs 2¢ more than it originally did when it came with free shipping. Plus, if I have to return the thing, they'll keep the original shipping charge so I'm out an additional $9.12 in that case. Higher prices with lower shipping charges are to the customers advantage when something has to be returned.

But I'm sure there are at least some people who will scramble to click that "Add to Cart" button to snag this new "massive discount". 🫤

BTW, this die has been on my Watch List for many months. It's price has changed multiple times - always with a matching shipping charge change to bring the total cost up to where it was before, or slightly above. Can't blame Amazon though. They're just taking advantage of stupid people. Why not?

Amazon still wants me to buy this die (I'm still thinking about it - low priority though).

Now their price trickery has the die moving from $33.88 (above) to $42.05 (below) while claiming a 2% "price drop". The total price isn't changing noticeably ... they're just playing around with the "price vs. shipping charges" ratio.

Hmmm, I wonder if next time they'll try a "new, lower price" of $33.87 plus $9.13 shipping? I wonder why my supposedly "free Prime shipping" keeps disappearing every time they "lower" the price?

I've done a fair amount of eyerolling this morning. I'd like to begin by saying for anyone not familiar with me I love my pets, they are fed and treated very well, allowed sleep where they like, but the humans are the boss; they are loved, but they are pets. There is a pecking order.

A 'found animal' page I follow has someone annoyed because the woman who has found a cat and gone to the trouble of advertising for the owner won't take it in doors. No 'gee good on you for feeding it this last week, shame you already have dogs'. Nope, just a berating; and shes not the only one. The list of people who give out because finders didn't take the animal to get scanned for a chip, or tucked in on the couch. 'They can't stay outside'. Actually yes they can, they've been doing it for thousands of years. Our mildest winter last year; 'Bring in your dogs, don't leave them outside' was an actual campaign.

Or another, who put up a photo of twenty different paint samples, wondering what colour is best for her 'cat room'. What would the cat like, do we think? (Pink apparently gets the vote) Thats in the States; obviously the election not high on her priorities right now. She redecorates each year, complete with art work.

And finally- my favourite. Do not leave pumpkins out for wild birds - buy some 'proper' bird feed. Vegetables are not good for them, and they don't like them. o_O There's a few farmers here that would argue that.

So, the LA Dodgers won the World Series last night. Within 2 hours of this "World Series" win, multiple jewelry stores were broken into, pharmacies were looted, metro busses were tagged , then set on fire, and many police officers were sent to the hospital.

One ***** news reporter said everything was peaceful UNTIL the cops came in and ruined the celebration!

I am pissed off!

I forgot to call AC people. I want to get the house cleaned up a bit more before they come out but I've been sweating. Metformin is still wrecking my guts. Heat has been making me tired. I think AC is out of refrigerant so I don't know if it would bubble if I used the leak detector stuff and I'm not even sure where to look.

Haven't installed the strikeplate on back door yet so the door managed to blow open twice yesterday and rain poured in (carried by wind obviously). I have a small stepladder propped against it for now.

It's warmer inside than outside and has been in the upper 80s and the rain means painting outside is not happening but it's also humid inside. Bleh. Sapping all of my energy. And the damn phone keeps ringing but when I pick up there's no response or its the same clown claiming to be from a charity and I now just hang up. Meanwhile, hospital is still sending Mom bills for stuff that her insurance shows as paid and says she has a zero balance owed.

Magpie, I don't like the pet snobs who feel they are the only ones who know how to handle pets and try to tell everyone else how to do things. There are times when pets should be brought inside-- extreme heat, extreme cold, hurricanes, etc but the people who are like "Cats should NEVER go outside" make me facepalm. I do appreciate people who take pets they find to the vet to scan for microchips. One of my childhood friends got his cat back because of that-- although, poor kitty had been hit by a car. She's an indoor cat but she zerged out. He's got a gofundme for her vet bills now.

Best friend has been sick still and now the 4-yr-old is sick so he can't come help with anything (friend, not the 4-yr-old).

He got some bad news on the house he wanted to buy (can't remember if I mentioned it). Appraisal and inspection came back. Seller was claiming it was worth $280k. Appraisal put it at $150k and said it needs about $30k in repairs- most of which involve outbuildings and probably take into account hiring professionals for labor. Mold evaluations were put at $500 a pop. Seller wants friend to fix all of the required problems before he can buy it/before bank would approve the loan, wants $100k for it plus $8500+ closing costs. The seller was against an inspection and bank getting involved. Now we know why. Friend wants to see if he can negotiate with appraiser/bank to let him fix up just the house part and do outbuildings at a later date. He hasn't said much about the house buying since he got the news.
