Mild today, sunny, temp 64. I put a new roof on my chicken coop this afternoon. Now the peeps will be nice and dry.

As of today I'm supposed to get 2-3 inches of rain from this storm, no ice or snow. Temps Thursday are supposed to hit 70. After the front blows through temps will be frigid by Sunday.

Just watched latest weather report.
Tomorrow in 60s nice day.
Wednesday 2" of rain before changing over to freezing rain in the afternoon.
Freezing rain all night , and all day Thursday.

This could be a repeat of 2009 ice storm.

So tomorrow is drag out the generators, get gas.
Drag out the propane heaters and propane.( Left my wood stove on the farm).
But I don't have a well . So hope county water stays on.
Will get a bunch in storage , just in case.
Food ....no problem.

They say we ain't gonna miss this one .

Ok , we'll be ready.

Surprised they were out treating the roads today for the Wed/Thurs predicted storm of rain, freezing rain, ice, then snow. They were saying it wasn't going to get that bad but now they're saying it could get bad. It will only be for a day or less, I hope. It is nice to not panic when bad weather is due ... I feel like I have what we need.

We used to get our share of ice storms in Maryland, bring down power lines and trees. Just having snow here (TX) shuts things down since normally they don't treat the roads with anything. Will not use salt, say it ruins everybody's vehicles (Maryland never cared and used it heavily). They use sand here and don't really have any state or county snow plows.

6 o'clock weather report .
Giving warnings.

In 2009 , we had 2" of ice.
Tree that fell on my house had branches covered with 2" ice. I measured it .
Sounded like automatic shotgun firing all night Inthe woods around my house.
I hope I never hear that again.
1000s of power poles broke off.

I think you live in Texas!! That's our weather report! Do you "secretly" live here and just say you live in Kentucky??

The worst one I remember was December of '98, most of TN and north AL. It hit on Dec. 23rd. I was living in Coffee Co TN. No one had power. I had planned to visit the folks for Christmas. Friends were going to Meridian MS to see family. They had a 4-wheel drive pickup, me a 2-wheel drive pickup. We both had chains!

A good thing, we couldn't even go southwest as normal. We had to go east over Mt. Eagle to Chattanooga TN, Mt. Eagle has 7.5% grades up and down. Mt Eagle is a little hairy in a heavy rain, iced over it was scary as heck! Even with chains!

Then we took I-59 southwest, only roads in 100 miles that were open. They said it was open... I-59 looked like a bachelor party at an ice rink... bodies (cars) everywhere.

It took 6hrs just to drive the 200 miles from Chattanooga to Tuscaloosa.

The folks were out of power also but at least they had a big fireplace.

"No thank you! We don't want any adventures here!" Ya'll can keep the ice.

Latest update. Broken down into sections of the country. he was nice and vague about WV (as most people are but whatever. we're used to it) lol

We are bracing for a major storm. Supposed to have rain/snow today and tomorrow and snow on Thursday. I think the last I heard was 6". Temps are in the 50's now but dropping the rest of the week until they are in the teens for the weekend. Fortunately, good Lord willing and the Creek don't rise, we won't have to go anywhere. I don't care what the weather does when I don't have to go out in it.

Hit 41 today and melted most of the snow. The sun was shining and I splurged on the "best" wash for my truck when I was in town. The tv weather guys are all excited about some snow that might be coming, but they tend to get overly dramatic. Might see 1 inch or 6 inches here, who knows. *Shrug* It's winter, it's Michigan, snow is the natural order of things. I just wish people would slow down, especially the beet trucks that seem to do 90mph no matter what.
