Made a big pot of chili, 3 days ago. I like my chili but had to have something different tonight. Went to the place down the road and got the rib-eye steak sandwich, yummy!
The hubster has forbidden chili making here until after my daughter's birthday lol, once I start making the "fall food" I can't stop lol I love comfort food, not really the best in the heat of summer tho lol

Funny, i'd been craving chili for a month, tried to wait til fall. Yeah, too hot but i wanted chili!!! 😁

Tacos and all the fixings tonight, leftovers tomorrow night!!

What seasonings do you use on tacos? reason i ask... while living in san mateo ca, down the street was a guatemalan place with the best tacos i've ever had. Didn't cook back then, never occurred to me to ask what spices were used. They tasted different than mexican and amer mexican tacos. just curious?

If I'm feeling extra and decide to skip the premade I use chili powder, cumin, garlic, onion, cilantro, salt, pepper

I cook my meat with a can of Rotel. Spices (nothing measured exactly): chili powder, garlic powder and sometimes fresh garlic, cumin, ginger powder, oregano, paprika, sometimes some Zatarain's Creole Seasoning.

Cole slaw and seasoned fries with NY Strips... should be pretty good, I'm hungry even after having a breakfast burrito earlier today. I only drank 1/3 of that beer this morning, covered the rest and put it back in the fridge, lol... I'm drinking it now while cooking the fries in the toaster oven. Definitely NOT a party night after last night's cane juice blowout, lol...

Burritos tonight from the taco meat I cooked, yesterday.

I forgot to mention that I made a Navy Bean Pie the other day. It's ok, using mashed beans as the "custard" base. It would have been better if I had not made it sugar free- used stevia instead. I will probably make it again, but with sugar. Took few ingredients and all pantry type. Mostly, it was a hard times experiment.

Burrito action all day long, lol... just macked a breakfast burrito where I added shaved chunks of NY Strip to the existing mix of scrambled eggs, hickory-smoked bacon, cheese, onion & Hatch Chiles, then added guac & sour cream on top, along with some drizzled Habanero sauce. The burrito was delicious, even if it WAS like a five-alarm fire, lol. Check it out, you can see the colors of the Mexican flag atop my burrito!

Man, that Hatch Chile I added atop the NY Strip chunks was HOT!!! Not all of 'em are the same, even from the same produce box... some are milder, but ALL have awesome flavor! I'm saving seeds from this batch of Hatch Chiles so I can send 'em to LL, Weedy, and whoever else wants some... I'm gathering seeds in an envelope as I work my way through the batch, lol. I'll tell ya, my mouth was on FIRE there for awhile, but hot peppers are good for ya! They burn germs and viruses, 10-4? There's probably some collateral damage: a few white T-cells get whacked in the bargain, but those dead soldiers are easily worth the sacrifice and the overall benefits, lol. I should add that during the BS Covid scamdemic, I NEVER got sick, and I eat a lot of hot peppers... something to consider, maybe? 🤔

Okay, now that I'm comfortably full, I'm gonna go read my latest Western, lol... I cannot guarantee that there will NOT be a nap in the program! I had a good night's sleep though, so we'll see what happens, lol. Hasta luego! 🤠

Had lunch in town at my favorite chinese place, yummy as always. Lots of errands this afternoon so I was to tired to fix supper, had a frozen dinner.

But! my favorite summer snack was in at the produce stand! Scuppernongs and muscadines! 😊 (late freeze took out the muscadines here on the farm...)

I do love the fermented juice of the Muscadine :)

Prosciutto on buttered toast. Salami on buttered toast. Kind of weird, but a buddy of mine who lived in the Republic of Czech for a year introduced me to this many years ago...assured me it was common over there. Turned out to be quite good.

The wife was out, and I had to make do, and I had previously bought some prosciutto & salami for the weekend, intended to be enjoyed with a glass of wine on the deck...but it didn't make it that long.

My face was getting terrible dry and nothing seemed to help so I shaved it for a bit.
I got rid of mine last night, same reason. I need to attend to my looks better, every time I look in a mirror I think "Who is that toothless grey-bearded hobo in my mirror?"
