Amish_Heart, I hope you can get your door fixed soon. My back door is a mess and we have stuff piled against it to keep it from blowing open.

It's cloudy and chilly today. Kitties and doggies are comfortable on my bed. One of the nice things is, I know if I feel lonely, I can sing celtic songs or call to the dogs and/or cats and they will come climb on me for cuddles.

I washed dishes and cooked corned beef hash with eggs for Mom. Got the eggs to her satisfaction this time so she was happy. The weather is making me sleepy though.

I might take a nap.

I woke with an idea how to route the under cabinet lighting wires without being seen. After installing 3 of the pucks I am happy with it.

I opted to secure them with screws because double sided tape has failed me too many times. I used doubled up duct tape to hold the pucks in place while drilling and installing the wee little screws to keep the pucks aligned with the holes. Worked a treat.

Now if someone crawls up on the counter the wires can be seen but i can live with that.

I will order some wire management channels to clean up the wire routing in the cabinets.

I am now settling in with no need to leave home for three days and a snow event coming in tomorrow. I may clone some seedless grapes provided I can find some dirt. That would be a nice change of pace.

I did the same in our kitchen, but everything I build for others I use led strip lighting.

Waiting for husband to finish the exercise bike so we can go to breakfast at the amish place. Animals round one are done, kitchen cleaned up and mopped, little granddaughter driven to school earlier. Looks like I'll have another passenger to take to school just 2 days a week, starting next month. The amish kindergarten class starts two days a week next month down the road from Granddaughter's schoool, so I'll be bringing a neighbor girl we know. The amish bus (tractor and horse trailer) doesn't come out this far from the main road, and it would add five miles to the trip, which on tractor time, is alot. Weather is good today, taking a long walk later.
I saw an Amish bus this week, and it was pretty neat. It was a hay wagon, completely covered with the heavier grade black canvas with a ‘door’ in the front corner and two or three wooden steps beneath. I’d guess benches or straw bales inside. In this area, no tractors are used, just draft horses. Looked neat, but made me very grateful for the transportation that I have.
Around me, the Mennonites either ride bikes or have a pony cart. The ponies stay tied up waiting till school is out. There seems to be a school about every 5 miles so kids don’t have too far to go. Even the youngest scholars will pedal a couple of miles each way.
On bitter cold days, English neighbors ’just happen to be going by’ around time for school for many.

Ben! good solution! I still need to get some undercabinet lights installed in my kitchen. Especially over my sink.

I cooked again for Mom. Brown rice & quinoa with rotisserie chicken, a little butter, and some chicken broth. She's very happy I found the brown rice & quinoa for sale online.

I'm waiting for my sister to call back when she's done playing D&D with her friends.

Getting close to finishing our California project. We're a day ahead of schedule. Hoping I can get back to Phoenix Tuesday morning and switch my flight home from Wednesday morning to Tuesday night. Then we'll be moving on to Corona, New Mexico on the 25th. That project is going to suck big time, it's in a totally desolate part of the state right where Billy the Kid killed all those people. Yeehaw...

Sorry, Spike. Not much to do in Corona. Bet they get alot of jokes. Have a beer.
We'll likely be staying in Vaughn or maybe Carrizozo. Later on as we move from south to north we'll probably stay in Santa Rosa. I've worked this rail line three times before. I don't like any of the towns down there. Alamogordo is at least big enough to have a Walmart and some food options. Carrizozo, Vaughn, and Corona are all junk and have diddly squat.

I'll be flying to Albuquerque, renting a car and driving over. Corona is about 16 or 17 hours drive from my home and frankly I'm sick of road trips so I'll fly.

A friend built a green house out of old window & needs a stove. I have had a small pot belly stove for forty years. I went out to the farm to get it for him.
I will not need it, I have a big heat wood stove & if I put one in my home, it will a cook stove.

Today we will have Church around 10 AM and then wait for the big weather show... So far it looks like the weather is going to be a little snow followed with rain.....

The work I did on the indoor garden yesterday yielded some surprises, the seeds I harvested off a store bought red bell pepper plant came up, I had 1 green bean plant that had a handful of fruit... I had to harvest my basil as it was just everywhere, I will harvest more lettuce today, most of my herbs are doing very well.

I may make a run to the store this morning, I want to fix something special for the wife's breakfast today.....

Good to hear I accidentally got something right.
;)

These were on my short list...

Limited-time deal: LED Strip Lights Warm White, 16.4ft Dimmable LED Light Strip with Memory Function, 300 Bright 3000K 2835 LEDs, Self-Adhesive 12v Flexible LED Rope Lights for Kitchen Cabinet Bedroom Home Party Decor
Before I decided to puck it.

I'm sitting here trying to get warm- heating pad on my feat. Mom and my brother have electric blankets but I don't have one that works anymore. Should have gotten one before they sold out.

Central AC's heat crapped out. Not sure why. When I turned it to Heat mode instead of Auto it had a burning smell. Wouldn't turn off from the thermostat so I had to flip the breakers. I hate that thermostat. I can barely see the words on the display. I have to sort of guess what stuff is.

I got on a ladder and looked in the attic as best I could. Really not much I could see though. Body was being so uncooperative I couldn't even lift the damn ladder. Once I warm up more I'll go change the filters just in case. I'm ordering lemon scented bleach for curbside pickup to dump down condensate line just in case. I hope the capacitor didn't blow again.

Got 8.5 hours sleep last night. That's like a miracle for me.
Sunday School and Church this morning.
Thawing chicken, hamburgers, pork chops and turkey sausage to grill tomorrow.
Printed up a list of Churches with addresses for the Church secretary to send letters with. Starting our senior club back up (hopefully).
Set up my vitamins for the month.
Will go back to church for short prayer meeting. That will be done on the 21st!

I been hearing about all the snow & ice that would descend on us in South Carolina.
By 12:00 noon it was all gone, just rain & wet ground.
I love snow in South Carolina, it never stays long enough to smell.
For anyone who had more snow, my prays are with you.

@zannej please be careful with your ac/heat unit. We had a bad feeling a few years ago when we were trying to get ours to turn on or stay on, forget which now…The tech said it’s a good thing we didn’t insist on trying to get it to turn on…it would have started a fire in the attic. We had to get a new system.
The other day I complimented my neighbor’s son on how good things looked in their yard. Later I saw he had cleaned up some of the leaves in part of my yard, just a small area, but still, that was the first time I’d ever spoken to him.
Church this a.m., lunch, nap, laundry, run the dog, chatting with family. Genealogy work. Dinner shortly.

We finished putting ties in today. After lunch we staged our equipment at the ramp that goes up on the train and did some maintenance. I blew all the accumulated crud off my hydraulic system radiator, ran some new LVDT cables and did an inspection and lube for the rear axle.

Tomorrow we'll drive our machinery up on the train, chain it down, and then do a QC inspection on the last 3 miles of track we installed ties in. Then it'll be laundry and packing up after work. We should have a "show 'n' go" on Tuesday and I'm trying to get my flight switched from Wednesday morning to Tuesday night so I can have a full day at home on Wednesday...

So, it turns out the burning was probably dust on the heating element for the extra heat from the internal unit. Once I cleaned the hell out of the grilles and replaced filters, the regular heat worked again. I got some smoke alarms just in case since we didn't have any working ones. There are two grilles for this unit since it needed larger than a single 20" filter. One is in the hallway and one is in an alcove just behind the door in my brother's room. Trash, hair, dirt, dust, and lint were all stuck to the grille in his room. There were plastic bags sticking to it before the fan turned off. It's in a dark corner so I had to get him to shine a light for me so I could see the crud and it took 10min to scrub it all off and then sweep the area up. New filters seem to have done the trick.

Got my curbside pickup order, rushed in the house and put stuff away and made it to the bathroom before my bladder could explode. I drank a bunch of water with the EmergenC powder.

My bronchial tubes don't like me right now (I forgot to mask up while cleaning the grilles). Fortunately, I got some Mucinex DM max strength to help break up any crud.

Got a knock on the door this afternoon, which is very rare. Found my neighbor at the door (shes 80). Said she had locked herself out of her house and rode her lawnmower over to see if we could help (it was rain/snowing at the time). Got her in and calmed down. Figured out it was best to get a locksmith out. I got on line a found one semi local that ran 24/7. About the time I was gonna take her back home to meet them she asked for a piece of bread, said shes diabetic and feels low. We had been trying to get her to eat and drink something the whole time. Anyway got he something and took her over to the house. Within a few minutes they came out and opened the door right up. She asked about getting new knobs/locks, but she has custom doors I had never noticed and the old hardware is almost 50 YO. Ended up I took a good look at her doors and found she had good useable deadbolts and keys for them. I hope I convinced her to use them instead of the door knob locks. I've got to take her lawn mower back tomorrow.
She's a nice lady and all her kids live out of state. We often call and ask if we can do anything, or pick up something for her. But otherwise We rarely ever hear from her unless she needs something. She's is always on the go. Mows her own yard most of the time. Hope I get around as good at 80 as she does.

zannej
The plant I worked in had coffee roaster & dry chaff(before they went to a wet system).
The electrician turn the winter heater on & it lit up like a Christmas tree.
Next year I get a work order to blow the heater out before turning the power on, so your problem is a common one.

We got about 3" of snow and a little ice last night. I shoveled just as the snow ended and put down a little salt as the Ice started, the driveway was clear at 04:00 but it's been snowing for the last hour and I will have to clean a path before the wife's nurse arrives around 09:30 to change her port dressing and take blood samples.

Yesterday before the snow we made bird feeders using Crisco, Peanut butter, and Bird Seed. I had been putting out bird seed for 3 days and yesterday the birds found it.... It was so much fun watching the little birds including a couple of pair of Cardinals, even as the snow came in they stayed there until dark.. The wife wanted to do it because she did it as a little girl in Ohio.

It should be a blustery day today with temperatures just above freezing.

Backpacker, I'm glad you were able to help your neighbor.

I started feeling worse last night and took some cough medicine, but it didn't really seem to help too much. Nose stuffed up and kept making whistling noises all night. I blew it and even cleared it out with a q-tip for some thicker stuff that wouldn't come out. Had trouble sleeping bc of the whistling and limited breathing. Tossed and turned. Face felt hot (hot flashes probably-- perimenopause sucks) & I was wheezing every time I tried to sit up or roll over. Woke up completely drenched in sweat and generally feeling like garbage. Bronchial tubes are itching. Called the doctor & they said to come in. They will test for Covid & flu (maybe the Covid test will clear my nose better) but my money is on bronchitis. They may tell me to take over-the-counter stuff, but they might prescribe something. We'll see.

Get well, let us know how the doctor visit goes!!

Driving out door hinge pins one at a time. Then cleaning before applying a light coat of oil and reinserting.

Waiting for the sun to brighten the living ceiling corner so I can see my drywall patch. Going to try texture it to match the rest of the ceiling.

Resize and trim a batch of .223 brass before reloading.

@zannej hope you feel better.

laundry today, exercise, make bread. Clean the office and scan in needed papers to the thumb drive. Since we are downsizing we had to get rid of file cabinets worth of stuff. I’ve gotten rid of 2 file cabinets so far!
More research on solar and wind to see what we need to purchase.
Going to purchase some fruit trees to keep here and then replant at the property in the spring.
My daughter is feeling better today so we will likely deep clean her room.

Went to Walmart at 6:30 to stock some canned veggies. They had most of what I needed. I bought the last 7 cans of spinach and the last 7 cans of french cut green beans. They had none of their brand of asparagus.
Came home and par boiled some chicken to finish on the grill later. Fed dogs.
Walked and walked dogs.
Next I have to figure out how to hook up the new thermal printer.
Cook on the grill later and make (cauliflower) potato salad.
Church at 5:30
