Got to my hotel in Carrizozo. I switched to the other hotel in town this week. $5/night cheaper and way better rooms.

I'm looking real hard at a hybrid Ford Maverick mini truck. They've brought out a little topper as a dealer installed accessory. It's $3400 but with that, it would be perfect as a road vehicle for the kind of traveling I do. All the gear and crap that I carry with me gets filthy at work, and has kind of destroyed the back of my little SUV. With the Maverick hybrid I wouldn't have to worry about it, and I'd get around 35mpg too...

Trying to figure out why 2 boxes of 2 Covid tests arrived in our mailbox today from US department of HHS. Never ordered any. Haven’t even looked them up.
Joe says, Double R needs some free stuff. Vote for Joe!

(He doesn't know why you should vote for him. He just knows you're supposed to...)

Watch what you do with them, they are marked for YOUR address! DESTROY them! DON'T give them away!!

Alot of people scramble for those if they are unvaxxed and their employer requires weekly testing. How creepy you got them. Maybe your employer requested them?
I need to play bus driver for the little one down the road going to the amish school this morning after dropping little granddaughter off to school. Husband has an allergy shot in the bigger town this afternoon, and I'll go to keep him company. Stuff to do around here today.

The gov is mailing the free tests out in the Dallas area. A gal I know did burn the two she got, that's how I know about the flare up! You become a government target! Did you do the test and send it in? Good sheep! Did you give it away or is that particular test sent to your address unaccounted for? Bad sheep!

Glad you're feeling better Teej.

Sorry to hear Shorty passed, Inresponse. I could tell you were fond of him. He obviously was a very nice man. My paternal grandfather died before I was born, paternal grandmother died when I was fairly young, and I was never very close with my maternal grandparents. I was overseas when they died. But I two elderly couples that were friends of the family and were my pseudo grandparents. People used to think my dad was one couples' son and think my mom was the other couples' daughter. They are all gone now and I miss them.

Spike, I hope you have a safe flight. My sister is in Albuquerque. She works at Sandia Laboratories.

Site is slow and not letting me use the Like button.

I got up early and managed to fill another 7 contractor bags with trash. I only had 6 left but found one under the trash. I had to go to the store to buy more and then found an entire trash can buried in the mess. I filled a 55 gallon trash bag about 3/4 up before my back gave out on me. I'm now resting and planning to take a cue from all the sleepy kitties on and around me. Naptime.

I tried to post last night but apparently there was maintenance and it wouldn't go through. It's cold, sun is coming up, and I'm waking up a little but am too tired to get up yet.

Looks like growing hay would be more profitable than people food.

I can't keep up with this thread but had to reply to this ....it is not really that profitable to grow hay because it is hard to grow perfect hay plus the equipment costs a small fortune. We sold our hay field last year because we could not get anyone to do a good job cutting and baling the hay for us and it would not have been worth it to buy the equipment. Plus there is the ever changing weather.
It is more profitable to grow sheep, goats and bake bread :)

Nice video! Very sweet of Shorty to help you. Is he still alive? I hope so. I tried to leave a comment but I couldn't bring up the comments section bc Youtube displays weird on my laptop.
I'm waiting for the sun to get bright enough for me to see in the living room to start round 2 of cleanup. I'm hoping Fedex will bring my Starlink equipment soon but it will probably be after 4pm- maybe even 7pm or 8pm if they actually deliver to my house and don't just dump the package at the post office.

Been busy, started on our taxes ( I have to enter all the stuff for the farm into a spreadsheet before I send it to our accountant) . Sort of a little worried about it this year since our old accountant retired plus we sold property last year. Hope we don't owe too much if any.
Did laundry all day yesterday in between taxes. I think our washing machine needs a new belt. We can't buy a new one because I can't find one that doesn't have a lock on it, which would make it impossible to use here since I have to fill it with a hose. We already replaced the belt once a couple of years ago. I hope it is not something worse. It washes the clothes but doesn't spin them dry enough. I do have a small spinner to get the water out ( friend gave it to us) but you can only put a few things in it at a time so it takes a long time

The snow is finally mostly gone except a few piles, it rained a few days ago. Still freezing most of the day now again but no snow. I want winter to be over. Our sheep are due soon ( 2 weeks or so) and I hope it warms up a little. Last year this time was much warmer already.

I've been looking at those as well, they look like a great machine - if they had been available when I got my Escape 9 months ago I definitely would have gotten one. I ended up with a Prius a couple years back due to one of my kids totalling 2 cars in 1 month, and it being the best deal I could find with the $ on hand. It's been great on gas $, an absolute beast, and just won't stop, now with almost 275K miles on it. Fun fact, if you're crazy enough, you can fit 10' sheets of corrugated metal roofing inside and still drive it ;P

The only thing I don't like about it is that it blows on long trips through the mountains. The tiny gas motor doesn't have enough oomph for hillside driving, and once your battery reserves are gone, you're either driving 45 MPH up the grade or overheating on the regular. Hopefully that's something Ford has worked out on the Maverick!

A low orbit satellite internet service that doesn't have data limits and is much faster than the crappy satellite internet I have now. It was started by Elon Musk. We were supposed to get our package yesterday but Fedex couldn't even be bothered to come to our town and said that they *might* deliver today. Acted like it was a huge bother to do their f***ing jobs. Wanted us to drive 2 hours to go pick up the package from their facility in Lake Charles instead of them having to deliver. Hard pass on that. If I have to drive 2 hours to pick it up, I want part of my shipping fee refunded. Sorry, I'm a bit pissed off about it. LOL.

I am looking at the storage area and need to do some serious work. Thank you, Hashbrown, for posting about your setup last week. Very well done. I thought mine was good, but the free standing wood shelves and even the heavy duty metal shelves are not holding up. Glad I noticed before a crash. I only noticed because of that post.
Anyway, time to deal with it. The thought I had once to have extra to barter I now think will come back to bite me so will support a local blessing box, a bit at a time.

Ok. We had Hughes net with data limits but it worked most of the time, now we have free internet in exchange for a little section of our pasture they put an antennee on. No data limits but it runs on solar and the batteries go dead when there is no sun for a few days.
Hope you get your stuff!

Yep. To do it right, I would often be in the field between 3-4 AM & at one time left the site because I refused to bale wet hay. No way I was going to be responsible for the fire. Most people (not just haying) don't care about the product or the job they are doing as long as they get their pay check :(
PS: There was a fella who went ahead and baled that hay. Found out about a week later that the bales started smoking & they had to pull the stacks down and cut the bales open. Didn't loose the barn, but the hay was wasted.

Got a headache today. Just trying to rest till later and nope. Boom boom boom boom boom (insert Spanish rap in there too)
Just went over and asked them to know it off yet again. Windows down, car running bassing Mexican music again. They were inside the house stuffing their faces. That’s the closest I’ve ever been to these workers and wow. They look exactly like some of the temporary residence that came and went over the last few years.
They either do way to many hard drugs or they are WAY to old to be this childish. Or both I guess. Missing teeth. Unhealthy. Very bad shape for what appeared to be their age. They got the idea of what I was saying although they pretend to not know English even though they’ve bassed music in English that I heard too. We gave the land owner a week but they are getting worse by the day. Next time I go over and tell them to knock it off it won’t be as nicely. It just boggles my mind how disrespectful these people are. So tired of this. Glad I got it stopped before hubby got woken up again. Maybe I’ll go for a walk. Hope y’all are having a good day.

I have been making good progress running more circuits.

Maybe 2 or more circuits to go.

My brother will be fetching tubs toilets and vanities soon so we finalize the layouts and enter the plumbing phase.

Do you like opera? I do but realize most folks don't. I have some Cecilia Bartoli you can borrow - a soprano w/ volume. Might pipe it over and see if they like your music 😇

We were thinking phantom of the opera. I used to sing it. Honestly I don’t think a concert level could be heard over their bass and the rattling of their car from it.
