Congratulations on your life successes.
Daughter graduating with honors and headed to college, mortgage free, moved to a new place. All very fine accomplishments. You should be very proud.
Thank you my friend! Working hard here and trying to insulate ourselves from the craziness!!!
We are super proud of our girl. She’s pretty cool.

I still have me dear departed mum's copy of JOY OF COOKING, it must be an original edition, lol. I kept it for sentimental value, but I like to occasionally 'go old school' and follow a recipe in the book. I kept the modern book stand as well, that way I can leave the book open at the page I want. The book has some handwritten notes in it, written by me mum, so that's another reason why I keep it. I'm no fan of Wikipedia, but it says the book has sold 20 million copies, and for once I believe it, lol. That was a popular book among housewives in the '60s & '70s. :)
I’m guilty of keeping lots of books and written out recipes, even though I would never make the dish, because my grandmother wrote it.

Waiting to hear from family about my mother-in-law. They say it will be soon. My brother is doing better.
Went out last evening, grateful the temps dropped into the 90s instead of the 100s. Repeat today.
Glad your brother is doing better, hope he can continue to do so!! Sorry about your MIL!!♥️

DrJenner, congrats on your daughter graduating with honors! Is she looking in to any particular college? I hope she can get scholarships.

Tommyice, I keep a lot of stuff just because of nostalgia.

We tried to move the satellite but the cord isn't long enough to move it where we wanted so we had to order a longer one. My brother keeps wanting to change plans up and doesn't know anything about it and has been causing some problems with trying to get my friend to do things differently than agreed.

I had trouble sleeping last night because I had to keep breaking up cat fights and my brother refused to get up and manage his cats. I feel like I got no sleep at all. Also feel like I'm not getting enough oxygen so I'm trying to take some slow deep breaths.

I had to order a new charging stand for my handset phone (landline) because I somehow got my foot tangled in the cord in my sleep & had a dream I was fighting something and my foot was stuck. I managed to rip the cord out of the plug (can't be fixed from what I can see) and now my handset can't charge unless I put it on a base in another room. I really don't know why the plug didn't come out of the APC unit with all the tugging I must have been doing, but I must have had just the right angle to rip it sideways without dislodging the plug. I also can't figure out how to unmute the ringer. I followed all of the steps to turn ringer back on, but it won't ring when someone calls (but it still makes noise when someone pages on the intercom).

Raining here today. Making sauerkraut but doing it in a jar with pebbles and pickle pipe. Hope it works out better than my crock experiments. Planning decluttering this whole summer. We now have trash pickup twice a week so I plan on getting my property tax dollars worth of that service.

Sunday morning, so I watered the trees, did the dishes from last night, did a load of laundry, and I'm about to pull some boxed-up decor items out of the metal shop building, which I've been using for storage. I'm gonna start decorating that part of my home which is already painted (and has new carpet), my plan is to provide some inspiration for finishing the rest of my home. Once I start reclaiming my life out of storage, I hope it'll give me enough inspiration to pick up my tools and paintbrushes again. I only have two bathrooms and the kitchen to paint, as far as the home interior goes. I just burned out on the painting while going through that slump... that was a difficult time for me, and I was in no mood to finish painting.

But at least I'm studying those rooms again with an eye toward painting, the actual work will probably go fast once I get started, lol. Meh, one step at a time now that it looks as if I'll be staying here, and some decor & wall art should remind me of what I once had... and will have again, 10-4? So I'll be hanging wall art and setting up decor today, that's my plan until I watch a movie tonight. Gotta wipe down the wood paneling first, I'm sacrificing a hand towel for that purpose... I have two full spray bottles of Murphy, but I won't need the sprayers, I'll just wear latex gloves and wet the towel rag as I go. Heaps of paneling in this home, I reckon I should wipe it down at least once in order to protect it and add to its service life. ;)

Got done with my big outside jobs, already 94° here at 11am! Got in the shower and realized I had company😮! A fairly large brown spider AND the scorpion that was after it! Flew out of the shower and killed them both with a large bottle of conditioner!! Had this problem last summer. Simple rules for life:. Check the shower and shoes for poisonous crawling things and look before exiting the house for slithering poisonous things! It's NAP time!!😃

Did a town mission yesterday, doing as little as possible today. Vacuumed the floors for dog hair, lol.

Cleaned the grill in preparation for a slab of baby back ribs.

That's about it for me today.

A couple hours in the garden first thing this morning, then packed a car lunch to head into the bigger town with little granddaughter so she could visit with her mom and the boyfriend at the park. We just sit in the truck. After working so hard, then sitting doing nothing in the heat, I feel wiped out. Waiting for my second wind. Hoping this iced tea will help.

I would trade some fresh smoked back bacon and cheese for dinner at your house. Ribs, spare guys (my kids couldn't pronounce asparagus), and whatever is in the foil pouch? My favorite dinner.

And in the foil is a vidalia onion. I cut them like a blooming onion, big pat of butter on top course ground salt and pepper. They come out of that foil so good yer tongue will slap you silly, little slivers of heaven. lol

The asparagus I drizzle with EVOO and course ground salt. I cook them until there is just a hint of crunch left in them. Of course that requires sampling one to test it. My favorite way for aspygrass.

I don't want to just "like" "sad" or "love" that. Wow, my friend, you must have a lot revolving in your heart. Whatever becomes with your MIL's situation, may there be peace and joy all around. Glad to hear your brother is doing better - enjoy making happy memories. And good you went out and keep cool. Maybe take a dip in Pearl's pool. ;)

Can you show a pix in the sauerkraut thread? Would love to see.
@Pearl Wowza! High of 69* here today and high of 62* scheduled for tomorrow, then 70s during the rest of the week. We are finally having a 'normal' spring!

Just got finished with the charity donation from clearing out the garage yesterday. Loaded and tarped that stuff yesterday knowing I wouldn't be up to it this AM.

Man, it feels good to get that off my plate.
Sadly, the body is still rebeling against the work done yesterday.

Good on ya for going to the trouble... I firmly believe in donating stuff and putting it back into circulation. Feels good to get rid of clutter too, streamlining is good as ya get older, lol. If I have something worth selling for a decent amount of money, I'll go that route, otherwise I donate by the boxload or carload. Good stuff still, I just can't be bothered with trying to sell it for a few lousy bucks. Once I'm done setting up this home the way I want it, I'm gonna have some leftover stuff to donate... time to pass it on, ya know? Also, if something sits in a cardboard box in the shop building for months on end and I haven't dug it out yet, then it's on the list for possible donation, lol. ;)

Again, good on ya for going to the trouble, someone else will find a use for all that stuff ya donated. I try to donate to places that sponsor good causes... the White Mountain Humane Society received boxes & boxes of stuff I no longer used in Arizona, and they do a good job taking care of animals at their shelter. :)

The most efficient form of recycling is re- use.

Re:"something sits in a cardboard box in the shop building for months ... "

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle once wrote something like...

"
The human mind is like an attic. You can keep putting stuff in there but eventually you have to throw something away.

"
Tools and supplies are a special case...

But anything I have not used in a year or more does not seem to be anything I need. Similarly if I don't know where it is, do I really have it?

Re: tools and supplies...

Will I ever use it again ?

What would cost if I had to acquire another vs what it cost to store ?

Checked over the yard today, all the plants looked good and healthy so the watering systems are doing good. Went for a walk and while on the walk a neighbor called with some questions. It was windy and they couldn't here me so I said I was stop by in a bit. Stopped by the neighbors and 2 hours and 5 beers later decided it was time to head home. Came home and BBQ'd a steak for dinner. Talked to the GF who was at the hotel for the night and the restaurant had a good menu and 35% off for flight crew so she went down for a steak dinner. She sent a picture of a T-bone (no extras or sides) for $9.00 and said she was call me later. I am guessing she was tired because I haven't heard back from her so she is probably asleep. Which is a good thing because when she comes home tired she is a step over useless for at least 2 days.
GF's oldest daughter asked me to order parts for her car so found those on RockAuto.com and she brought her card order to order them. Told her they are ordered but the mechanic (me) would probably charge $300.00 an hour to install everything. i wish.
It's gonna be another early night for me, which is good, because I have had a few fingers of bourbon already. I am thinking shut eye in 60 minutes or less. I hope I remember to turn down the AC in a bit so i don't wake up worm in the middle of the night.
Sweet Dreams all Ya'all.

Oh, I also ordered 8 ounces each of Cedar Oil, Lemon Grass oil, and Peppermint Oil to mix into water for a fly/bug/rodent spray. As usual the flies are abundant in our chicken run and spraying the ground a couple times a year with this mixture keeps the flies away. Also, the peppermint will help deter the few mice that occasionally visit out chicken barn. I also use this mixture to spray our back yard patio area to keep the flies and other bugs away so we can sit out there in peace. Plus, spraying this around the door openings, garage doors, and the flower boxes near the house reduces other critters in the area. None of them are harmful for the birds or people and I think we will also use it as a fly spray for the horse.
OK, that is all. I am heading to the pool to cool off and then head for the pillow for the night.

You forgot to tell us if you acquired a new turkey friend. . . .

Raining again here. I'm not sure which is growing faster the weeds or the veggies. Can't believe how much they are growing daily. Supposed to be a high of 62* here tomorrow then the rest of the week in the 70s which will be nice. I need to get out and do some more weeding. Made a tub of homemade icecream for Hubby and did a few things around the house - got to stitch a little which suits me fine for this time of year. I've finally had a weekend at home. Yesterday I even took a nap! I think I finally relaxed after go go going. Tomorrow is back to work.
