I have been busy with keeping grass cut and weeds whacked at the remodel place. The major effort has been to clear out that back porch that looked like this.

I recycled all of the paper and dealt with the contraband while sorting out anything of value like old pictures cameras fishing gear and cameras to be returned to that fellow that abandoned them. And now can get at that back corner.

There is still a large format plotter that needs dismantled for parts and recycling. I think The Princess will be happy when she inspects latter this evening.

Tomorrow I am scheduled to teach the eldest granddaughter now 13 to mow my lawn. Her gaming PC decided to give up the ghost about a week ago. A teenager with access to online gaming is like a fish out of water. May as well put her on a desert island with no contact with her peers.

Grandma couldn't resist a purchased a nice new gaming machine. But we felt the girl should learn to work for what she wants and hence the lawn mowing. I hate mowing and The Princess doesn't have the time so it should work for all of us. Sure Grampa is on the hook to by the taxi driver but my grandfather did the same for me when I was a caddy at a golf course.

So there we are.

Looks good, Ben. I need to get more organized one of these days. I have so many spaces cluttered up like that. Including the back seat of my truck.

I cooked for mom, picked up some stuff at the store, & put motor cleaner in my truck while refueling. Heat index is 108° so being outside is no bueno.
There was a big bug crawling on the outside of one of my windows but it disappeared before I could get my phone for a pic. Dog just stepped on my keyboard. LOL.

I still need to do some cleaning but I'm cooling off from being outside.

Loss of power...

The most annoying part? If I'm in my power recliner when the power goes off, I can't get out of my chair!!! 🤣

I posted this last night at 9:44pm cst. 6 minutes later at 9:50pm my power went off, didn't come back on until 7am this morning.

I think the power company is reading my posts...

So what you're saying is you slept in the recliner last night??? 😂

Got a ton done today though not everything on my list.
Two loads of laundry (yea, boring I know).
Made a batch of granola/trailmix, a tub of ice cream for Hubby, a batch of oatmeal monsters for Hubby, got the chard pulled so I can put some chilies out there, heaped the tub of spuds, had to go to the store, got 4 loaves of bread sliced and put in the freezer, picked shelled and canned 7 pints of peas - felt like it should have been at least a dozen. And so canning season begins.

Was going on 2 hrs of sleep, so didn't get much done at all today. Animals done, garden and fruit trees watered. Little granddaughter and I worked on the new goose run. We need to catch the 8 geese tomorrow and move them. Ha Ha. Favorite cousin came by to chat with me. So did the neighbor. We went into town and picked up excellent barbeque...didn't feel like cooking. Watched the second Thor with little granddaughter.

Someone at a dog park, told me they had so many fireworks, really loud ones, going off for so long, that in 3 days she got 6 hours of sleep. I think if it had been me, on night 3, I would have gotten in trouble for trying to deal with all of that.

....And of course it rains, I couldn't install one even if I could afford it. maybe it'll thaw out and run until payday. :(
God bless industrial fans!

I hope your A/C starts working again, Magus! I know about the heat and humidity being miserable.

Walked first, but had to make myself get going.
Walked dogs.
Next will harvest in garden, mostly okra and a few peppers.
And I have no idea what I will do the rest of the day. Was going to prune and weed eat around in yard, but it is getting up to 95 and with the humidity, it is too much today.

I'm sure I can find something to get into.
Will update tomorrow!

What’s it doing?
Frozen solid and humming. I'm letting it thaw a few hours before I try again.
Maybe, just maybe the motor isn't fried!

Hydration is good... I'll never forget seeing troops drop from heat exhaustion during 'Jungle Training' down at Fort Sherman, Panama. Those troops were in good physical condition too, they just didn't drink enough water, while the combined heat & humidity down there had a brutal effect on even the toughest men. Hydration was the key to surviving the rigorous training... now I look back on those days with some fondness and nostalgia, but I would NOT like to go through that same training at my current age, it would finish me off, lol.

Dunno what I'm gonna do today... I was out in the yard this morning, but it got too hot out there, now it's clouding over like we may get some unexpected rain. I'll probably just putter around indoors, I have various home rehab projects to choose from, but I reckon I'll go easy even though I'm feeling better. That pesky bug is definitely on the way out, it tried to come back last night but my system is now churning out antibodies, and the bug is finally on the run. For a relatively low-grade bug, it sure was tough & resistant, lol. It managed to interfere with my beer drinking, I'll give it that... ;)

@Magus I’d also give it a good vacuuming and cleaning. I had an old Frederick Road unit that would do the same thing. Open the cover the fins were frozen solid to the point where I had to put a towel to absorb all the water that melted. I found a very regular cleaning like once weekly with the vacuum and cleaning the filter at the same time helped a lot.

Make sure your inside filter isn’t clogged. When you turn it back on make sure the outside condenser fan is turning blowing air through the coils. If it isn’t it could just be a bad capacitor and could be a $15 fix.

No fixing this thing, its welded shut! I'm yanking the filter now, brush in hand!
EDIT:
Well, it kind of works on low, the fan almost stops on high.

I put my filter in the bathtub and use the handheld sprayer to rinse most of the dirt and dust out of it give a good swishing and put it out in the sun to dry. Got to the point where I actually had a couple of filters so I could do this continually

Good afternoon.
I got up early again. Watched some Star Trek. Talked to the people who want to adopt the pups. We are going to meet today in a neutral location. I really hope they get along well and are willing to take them. They both love how they look and the pics of them lying on my bed. I talked to the lady last night and this morning. I cleaned out the truck as much as I could until the heat got to me. There's enough space for the doggies to sit. I was going to do more but heat index is 106 and I felt like my body was turning in to a swamp. Nonstop sweating. Found a toolbox that had been missing (it was under a towel). I'll need to organize my tools and plumbing supplies later.

So, it’s a window unit?
Yup. DG home disposable job. its 5 years old, it outlived the warranty, which is amazing!
I have one in my little camper that is made to it, riveted in. its older than me and will freeze you to death!

Good luck with the adopting out of the pups. 🤞 I know it would be a relief if they could go to a good home rather than a shelter.

Hubby went out and picked this morning and I shelled and now have 9 more pints of peas in the canner. Trying to find my kitchen. Need to get a few things done outside, but it's warming up out there. Might tinker in the summer kitchen or wash plant pots - that has been on my to-do list for a long time. Would love to get them all put away until next year.

First day of grass cutting by the granddaughter went good. I didn't harp on her about some missed spots since safety was the big lesson for today. Next time I will enforce a better quality job. The quality of the cut doesn't bother me. Back before yard nazis became a thing I would let 5he yard go wild. It was then that I learned the best way to rid a yard of dandelions was to let 5he grass grow. Starves out the dandelions.

The granddaughter returned home with a smile on her face so it was good for all of us.

Take care

Ben

We got up to a late start today. Husband slept in till 830, and that's unheard of for around here. Favorite cousin called and visited with me for a long time. Animals done, house is a mess, laundry hanging. We went to a late lunch to the amish restaurant. Little granddaughter loves the fish nuggets there. We went into the bigger town to Tractor and husband thought it was time for a new wagon for me. My red one has a flat and the bottom is rusting out, and I use it all the time. So the old one will become a planter. Bought a nice gorilla one that is not huge for my regular stuff, like hauling in groceries. Got a real big metal one for yardwork. Found two square tub like things for more water opportunities for the geese. Got more feed. We are going out in an hour or so, filling up all the tubs in the new giant geese run, and will be moving 8 geese that will not want to be moved. Husband will be on his scooter, I will put a big towel on his lap, and I'll catch a goose, hand it off to him, he can drive it to the new run. Little granddaughter said her job will be to watch us and laugh.
