Today was clean up the yard and buy perishables day. Brother came over and helped dad with the lawn and weeds. Mostly just chillin after that. Did a little yarn spinning on the wheel. Decisions were made about the boats. Dad wants to get rid of the fishing boat and the pontoon boat and get a new, smaller toon boat. His feeling is that way my SIL and I will have a fairly new boat after he’s gone.

Tomorrow my bedroom closet gets cleaned out of all the junk that found it’s way in ther—an old telescope, a snowmobile suit that fits no one in the family (besides there’s no snowmobiles here anymore). Once it’s cleaned ou, there’ll be room to store my newest loom purchase.
Could you show a picture of the loom? I'm kinda interested in those. It's on my bucket list of clothing abilities.

This is the one I just got. It’s a Schact wolf pup. 18” width and folds up. It was easy to move. Only tough time was putting into the Tahoe. It has wheels so it can be moved easily.

I also have a 25” Leclerc Compact that looks and works just like this one and a 40” Glimakra Ideal. That one is counterbalance and behaves a bit differently.

Gout can be controlled through diet... without any Big Pharma cr@p involved.

Montmorency (Tart) Cherry Juice is what I used to ease flare ups of my Gout.
I even added it to flavored seltzer water (like Bubbly) to make it more palatable.

Usually worked within hours to alleviate symptoms. 1 oz 3-4 times a day for 2-3 days and everything was fine.

I never tried using it daily a preventative treatment because my diet was pretty well controlled (diabetes and ESRF) and now post transplant, I still avoid my trigger foods.

That's good stuff, tart cherry juice has powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties... some say it's stronger than OTC junk like Ibuprofen. I'm also partial to the tart cherry Kombucha drinks, though they might not be as helpful, lol. ;)

Edit: I was trying to think of the name of one antioxidant, it is anthocyanin, very powerful. Sweet cherries also have anthocyanin, but sweet cherries have more carbs too. Gotta love tart cherry juice, it's a gift from nature... might be an acquired taste for some, but I've liked it from the start, especially knowing that it's heller good for you.

Thank you for showing your looms to me.
I'm still trying to learn my flat bed Brother KH 230 .
I'm having trouble with it after my mini stroke in November.
But I keep plugging away at it.

Hey you all,
Been busy little bees I see.
Worked out in garden this morning.
Pulled up all the dead plants, and there was a lot of them.
Hadn't been home much lately.
Course drought didn't help much either.
Spending time with Dad as much as possible.
At least while I still can.
UPDATE on Dad's condition:
We made the extremely hard decision to call Hospice in for pain management.
I can do a lot of things for him.
But I can't give him the medicine he needs to ease his pain.
Hospice nurses come and check on him several days a week.
Hospice nurse said it could be next week, 3 months or tomorrow.
But with the medicine he wouldn't be in pain.
Today he and I ate catfish baskets for lunch because that's what he wanted.
We drank chocolate, cherry, vanilla cokes to go with our catfish baskets.
Dad told me today that him and mom used to drink those cokes when they were dating.
Back in the day ; 1956.
And they served them at their wedding in December 1956.
I just knew they were a treat Mom and Dad liked.
He called me by Mom's name today too.
While we were enjoying those cokes.
That's all I know.
I hope all that are hurting get well soon.
And that all that need prayers, you have mine.

I just looked at the weather and it makes me want to cry....sorry I know many of you need rain but the forecast here for this coming week is just like it was living in Florida ( which I HATE the weather there!!!!) , hot humid and thunderstorms every single day.....

Have to clean the barn today. The storm yesterday evening looked so bad and we had severe thunderstorm warnings so we put everyone in. The poor goats got soaked and were standing behind the pasture gate looking miserable and crying like they were going to melt.

Plan today is stacking some wood before it rots outside from all the rain we are going to get and maybe get to the crab apples. Son and husband ( and me) really love the jelly so they can help cut them up

I'm sorry about your Grandma @ABR but glad she was at home.
And I'm glad you can spend time with your dad @MoBookworm1957 . I think time is the most important gift we have to give!
@sonya123 , I am keeping my eye on a crabapple tree on the next block from me. I don't think anyone picks from it and will ask the homeowner if I can, when it's time. I want to make pectin and maybe some jelly.

After Church today, I am going to lunch with a friend.
Then walk dogs.
Roast turkey carcass and then cook overnight with leftover veggies for stock to can tomorrow.

Heading out to work to clean my building! I'm tired already after feeding, watering, and working with Bear. He's so great with his basic obedience commands, but today was the first day he he nailed the "stay" and "down" hand signals! He has A LOT of puppy energy and mentality yet, but amazes me everyday! Tomorrow I'll have him one month! Before I got him he never had a collar on or been in a house! Back to the thread, later I'm hitting the pool!

I have a friend who has really been hit recently with gout. They have no idea what has caused this flare up for him, but he is sure in pain.

I have never felt anything so painful, it's is especially difficult because you have to use your foot no matter how bad it hurts, it hurt so bad on Friday I contemplated crawling around rather than walking.. I was shot once and it doesn't even compare to this toe pain, arrrggghhhhh.

I hear the zucchini rustling in the leaves getting bigger by the minute. Gonna go grab some more so we have enough to make some tasty zucchini pickles. I couldn't find a home for our young and noisy rooster so the chopping block for him, there are enough chicken people around so if I need to hatch some eggs I can barter for stud service. My neighbors don't let their dogs bark at five in the morning so I feel obligated to return the courtesy.

@ABR I’m very sorry to hear about your grandmother. I’m sure she appreciated you being with her As I’m certain your ancestors were as well. Prayers for you all.

@MoBookworm1957 prayers for you and dad. Mine occasionally calls me by my mom’s name too. I’ve tried the knitting machine but never could get the hang of it.

l’m canning 19 pints of green beans we brought back from the Amish farm. Just about 19 pounds of beans

eta I actually got 20 pints

Sorry to hear it, Curmudgeon, hope ya feel better soon! Foot problems are bad, since all your weight is on your feet... I've done my share of limping around or using a walker after bad foot & knee injuries, so I empathize with ya in your plight. Friend o' mine has gout, and he says the toe pain is really bad... from crystals in the joints or whatever. Get better soon, aye? Cheers!!!

I sent this to Weedy, it might help someone else.

I hate to say it, but I'm getting to be a kind of expert on home remedy gout cures.
#1 Wild cherry juice. unfreeze 1 12 ounce can, mix a couple of ounces into cherry coke and drink the entire can during the course of the day if it does not cure it will greatly alleviate the symptoms within 24 hours.
#2 Still with the cherries, put half the can into a gallon of purified or distilled water, add 2 limes, drink as much as possible during the course of the day.
#3 The super flush. Get a gallon of distilled water from Kroger's nursery, the kind with no minerals, it leeches the crystals that cause the pain right out of your flesh.
2 gallons a day ought to cure it in two days.
#4 If your friend isn't allergic to Acetaminophen, Aspirin or caffeine. buy a 2 liter of minute made lemonade or make your own from distilled water and put it in a 2 liter bottle, add 4 packages of gooddy's powders and shake well, otherwise 2 packs per 12 oz bottle, do not exceed 6 packs per day!

I had gout in both feet and knees.
After being tough and carried to the bathroom I decided to do something about it. I took bromelain and papaya supplements. The 2nd day the pain was halved and went down every day over about 3 weeks.
I have not had a problem since I quit drinking beer. It's been 12 years.

Cleaned out all the baby brooders, I have seven going. And the big junior turkey cage, and 5 rabbit cages. Fed the animals, watered the garden. Granddaughter left early this morning with the boyfriend. Grandson stayed in bed on his phone, then took off with his friends. Geico called husband to get permission for granddaughter to get auto insurance. It was a three way call. I'm sure it made her mad having to get permission. After verifying we are not responsible for her insurance payments or auto liability, he said sure. Boyfriend just dropped her off again, and up the stairs she went and shut her door, so I'm sure she'll be there all day long. Surprised she is home at all. Just finished lunch, and after I down this cup of coffee, I've got lots of indoor work to do. Dinner tonight is at my favorite cousin's house. She said she made a briskett and they did Johnny Pop ice cream. I'll bring some chocolate cookies to go with that ice cream. Just husband and I and little granddaughter going tonight, not the twins. She's afraid of them.

Today my rain barrels ran empty. The wife suggested that I also need to change the indoor water storage, and suggested that I need to make a way to move that water to the rain barrels so we don't waste anything. Now that's smart thinking, so I ordered a spare garden pump and will use that to move the water around, I should have everything I need by Tuesday.

Thanks, it is, I'm pretty pain tolerant for the most part but this is another whole league, lol. Yeah, crystals that can flare up whne you eat certain foods, tomatoes is one of them. I love my maters and in the last week or so ate way too many I think. I mean why can't it be escargot or something, lol.

Great to see you here and the update. I know you are cherishing the time with your dad, as you should.

My brother has gout and his two trigger 'foods' are anything with corn oil in it (which made him eat healthier) and beer (he switched to whiskey). I'm going to mention the cherry juice to him though, may help when he has a flare up.

So let's see, Friday I dropped off my car at dealer for recall, then to Home Depot to get stuff to install the new weather station DH got for his birthday then to dispensary and package store. Saturday was indoor stuff (heat advisory) and took son to lunch (he's getting his wisdom teeth out on Tuesday). Today was grocery shopping then to mom and dad's to visit and help them with chores. Mom has good and bad days with her memory and today wasn't a good day. Her short term memory isn't good, pretty sure it's Alzheimer's, I'm taking her to neuro doc in a month or so to confirm and see what, if anything, we can do. I just hope it won't be long and drawn out like DH's grandfather. But anyways, they were ok so visited for a bit. Came home and put together and installed the weather station, it's pretty cool. Did a little work in garden and just ate dinner. The bottle of wine was taking up too much room in the fridge so I'm taking care of that now, which hopefully will explain me rambling. lol On Sat DH and I are flying to FL to help finish cleaning my inlaws' house to sell then drive back with FIL's truck and boat, which he wanted us to have. Not looking forward to the drive though.

ABR, sorry to hear about your grandma.
Tommyice, is that some sort of loom?
Mo, good to see you're keeping busy

Yesterday I went to pick up an order from Lowes. They now put it in a locker and I sent myself a picture of the barcode. Found the lockers, scanned barcode, locker popped open, grabbed my stuff & left. Much better than dealing with the associates.
Went to Samsclub & didn't see the water we get but another customer helpfully told us where she saw it somewhere else in the store. So we grabbed 5 cases (my brother and I). His shoulder was bothering him so I did most of the lifting. Got the stuff on our list and headed out. Unloaded when we got home. Rested a short while and had to cook for Mom. Bro went to work & I waited for him to get home so we could watch Broadchurch (new show on PBS) together.

Had trouble sleeping. Mom did too. She needs to replace her CPAP mask but she misplaced the box of replacements. I'm going to have to look for it bc she's not getting enough air at night.

Felt cruddy today and slept most of the day except to get up and cook for Mom again. I'm trying to figure out what I can eat. I'm thinking some broccoli cheddar bake stuff I found in the frozen section.

Just finished roofing the new smokehouse and trimmed out the door. I'm about 20 pieces of 1x4 t&g to finishing the siding. Then I'll line the bottom 3 feet of the inside with cement board to keep from burning it down.
Yesterday when I finished watering the garden I killed another rattlesnake. That's 2 in one week.
Right now I'm sitting on the back deck sharing cherries with the dogs. Almost time to start the generator for the night.

Whiskey is worse than beer!
