I purchased a code reader from Harbor Freight. It lets me read the code and clear them. It has paid for itself many times over.

There few things that disturb me more than seeing that light lit on the dashboard. It rates right up there with the TP roll being installed upside down.

Thank you Neb.
That purchase will have to wait until payday.

I am allergic to shellfish.
My too but I still eat them.
I don't get hives every time I eat shrimp just some times.
My doctor said I was insane to eat something I'm allergic to..
I told her I like shrimp so I'll keep eating it. She gave me a Rx for epi pens just in case.
The only thing that would be worse would be an allergy to bacon.

We took our almost 15 year old Chiweeni dog to the vet for a check up.
He is ok except he has arthritis. Got some meds for him.
The bill was almost $500. There is NO such thing as a free dog or cat.
After that we had a Costco dog because they are cheap. 100° and Costco had no ice for their sodas.
I had a dentist appointment at 4 but I was able to get in at 2. The dentist ground down the crown he put in 3 months ago.
It has been hurting all this time. He said it should get better in a couple of weeks and my headaches should go away.
The local produce stand opened up on Saturday so we stopped and got some stuff.
Corn was 2 for $1, tomatoes, peaches, and cucumbers were all $2 a pound.
Watermelons were 75 cents a pound.
Tonight is my favorite summer supper. Beans, cornbread, sliced sweet onions, sliced tomato, and a glass of cold milk.
It's better when it comes from our garden but nothing is rip yet.

On my wife's Toyota if you leave the gas cap off too long there is a multi step procedure you have to performed before you can start it. I hate all the government mandated emission crap.

Which way is upside down?

My brother says, over the top is correct and underneath is upside down. His wife says underneath is correct and over the top is upside down, and she's willing to die on that hill. So, in their house the toilet paper roll comes out underneath.

I suppose that's one of those things where you mumble something about discretion and valor, and forget about it, just to keep a peaceful home...

Today was a miscellaneous day.

I dropped off a box of cloth drop clothes at the remodel place for my brother. Picked up signed revisions of the LLC organization docs while there. (He tested positive for the China flu for the 3rd time. I hope there aren't any cooties on the document).

Got gas for the lawnmowers and picked another batch of my morning donuts to go with my coffee.

Stopped and talked to my mechanic buddy about the oil spot I have noticed on the driveway where I park. I have owned this Jeep Liberty for 5-7 years and it has never lost a drop of oil. I would like to get it fixed but I can imagine worst case pull the engine scenarios...

Talked to another buddy about a welding project he is working up to.

Then some sorting of tools and parts to satisfy my anal retentive nature.

Worked from the house for 3 hours this morning and got the wife set up. Went to work and had a busy day with a fair amount accomplished. About 2:30 one of my techs came in and told me they had found a problem they had worked on most of the day and needed to stay over to finish up and re calibrate the system. Got that set up and in less than 2 minutes I got a call from our 911 group telling me the radio system was down in our reactor building. Got contact info and called my radio guy who informed me the entire radio system was down over the entire DOE reservation. Never happened before and the way the system is designed it should not have happened. Still don't know for sure what happened, just know it was the backbone of the system we use. Not a thing we could do. About 3:15 the system partially came back up. I would expect it'll be fully operational tomorrow. No doubt there will be a crtique to look into that. Then on my drive home I had about a 10 mile stretch it was pouring down. Stopped way before I got home. What a day.

Tomorrow I've got an online class and will be there late. Gotta get the wife set up before I go in

Thanks for asking. I may have written my doctoral thesis on that subject if I had gone for my PhD.

I have spent hours staring at the roll considering the answer to that question. I believe it comes down to defining the goal.

Save on TP or control sheet count.

Hotels want to minimize TP costs so thet want customers to use less TP. They will install it over the top to optimize the sheets separating.

On the other hand want to regulate the number of sheets dispensed... because that is how I roll.

Theory...

When installed over the top, pulling down to unroll the TP applies a downward force on the roll and supporting bearing surfaces. That increases the friction thereby increasing the conditions for the sheets to separate.

When installed out from underneath the opposite is is 5he case.vpullint up reduces the friction reducing the forces on the perforations joining the sheets.

I am sure I have driven hotel house keeping crazy having to flip rolls and doing that silly folding thing.

You did ask.

Ben

This is the original patent for TP.
So ends the discussion. 😄

The thug police are doing a door knock in the area about the recent happenings in the street.
Never a dull moment here that's for sure.
And dollars to dough-nuts the crack heads next door will be at the heart of it AGAIN.
As soon as they ( the thug police ) knocked on the door I let the Landshark out of her semi destroyed crate and I refused to open the front door and spoke to them through a window with a security screen.
My security cameras have a warning siren and I didn't shut that off either when they tripped it and I didn't tell the dog to shut up.
Landshark was having one of her serial killer moments because she knew they were standing right on my front landing and could hear them talking.
I'm glad I didn't get around to painting the back of that door yet.
I was kinda happy that all the noise they had to shout over and the way the front door was vibrating in it's frame was making them uncomfortable.

You don't trust the police here because they're not trustworthy!

I hope you gave the land shark a hug after she acted correctly.v

I absolutely adore, in these sorts of moments, how she's 100% committed and invested in getting whoever is on the other side of the door.
It gives me a valid reason as to why I can't open the door.
Even if they were to stand out on the footpath she'd know they were there because she would be able to smell them and good neighbours have a bug-eyed yapping rat ( I think it's a fox terrier) that goes off like a bomb if anyone comes near their house.
If the "rat" goes off Landshark will throw her nose up and decide if she's going to join in.

About TP~ I don't care which way it rolls as long as it's there  Hubby declares if you put it on upsidedown (under) you are thoughtless 😂

I have a new "thing" I'm trying. I'm staying off the internet for the weekends (for the most part.) It helped in many ways. I got a ton done. I took some pix and have a pile of things listed on CL. If they don't sell within about 2 weeks, I will donate them. I'm to that point. I found the top of my desk - do you hear the angels singing? 😁 Cleaned much of the houses, got the ironing done, complete, finished! Also weeded the tomato patch. It was getting buried by borage and weeds. It's all cleared now. We have quite a few tomatoes but all still green. Everything is so late this year. They have only just begun harvesting wheat. Crazy! It's 100* so we watered, ate, showered and are now sitting inside.

That's a fairly common failure, the seal on the gas cap... annoying when the light comes on, but a relief once the driver realizes that's all it is. ;)

Newer rigs will throw a code specific to that faulty cap...
My "Turtle" car is 2015 FIAT 500 Lounge, that has 14734 miles on it.
Black metallic paint with gold pinstripe, red and white leather interior, heated seats, mirrors, headlights, sunroof.
My Fiat will hold 1 car seat facing frontward,1 booster seat and 1 kid in the middle, 2 adults.
It also has a trunk with "Beats" stereo, 6 speakers etc.
When I bought it in April 2017 it had 31 miles on it.
It should be paid off in 14 months.
It a was a kid's graduation gift, but he didn't like it.
So parents traded it in for old beater Ford pick up for him to take to college.
My grand daughters call my car a "Turtle" because the shape reminds them of a turtle.

We had a nice cool day today, and it was so welcome. Had our first "family therapy meeting" at our house, went two hours. That therapist can talk. I asked at the beginning that all cell phones be put away in the bedrooms, because of granddaughter's recording us all the time. Grandson put his on the dining room table, real close by. Granddaughter refused. I asked three times, and told the therapist I did not feel comfortable about the possibility of being recordrf during a therapy session. Granddaughter said that she would not, and show the therapist proof that she was not recording. She said she was trying to make a point, because me saying that there was a possibility of her recording upset her. I explained that we have recently found out that she has been recording us all the time in our home, so there is a real possibility. Our homework assignment is to have at least two meals together this week, and to compliment each other every day, at least once. This will be interesting, because I cannot remember the last time either were home for dinner. So, the therapist left, will see us in court tomorrow. They both grabbed some dinner I put out, took it upstairs and shut their doors. Granddaughter announced that since she is picking up her car, and has insurance to pay each month, that she would be working every day after school. We allow working Friday nights and Saturdays during the school year. The therapist intervened on that one, told her that if she only has a half day of classes her senior year, she should be available to work and be home for dinner. This didn't go over real well. Therapist is submitting her notes to the court tomorrow. Will be glad when court is over, although after listening to the two of them tonight, nothing is over. We ended with a wish for a peaceful house and no more calling the police. Granddaughter would not agree to that wish, just glared. So grandson is going to band camp tomorrow, and granddaughter said she was working a 10 hr day. Reminded them that they have to show for court. I'm assuming we have to pick both of them up and take them. They are supposed to be there, as the charges were brought upon by them. This whole thing is so retarded.

This is starting out as an interesting week.

The wife's nurse (the one that owns the company) and her sister (also a nurse) went to the bank and took out a large sum of money for a trip they were planning. When they went out to their car there were 3 individuals waiting, who robbed them, and slashed their tires. It seems strange that they would be there waiting and know who to hit... smells like an inside job to me. FYI, the nurses are African-American, the crooks were all Hispanic, you might imply something from that, but that would be racial profiling and wrong.

This morning I tried to run errands, went to the 24hr drug store for wife's sleep aid: they were out, then I went to the Wal-M just as they should be opening, but they had a fire and were closed. I wanted to pickup a MickeyD's breakfast sandwich, but the line was round the block.

Hey, I was able to do my banking at an ATM without being robbed....

My tooth woke me up a couple times last night, and and when it woke me up at 0540 I said, Forget it, and got up. My appointment is at 0930 in West Des Moines with some oral surgeon I've never heard of. Hopefully he can get it done this morning.

Somebody from the past contacted me recently and wanted to meet this evening. Not sure what I'll be walking into, but this time around I'll know enough to walk out if things get strange...

Today is lawn mowing day, a half acres worth. Gotta get going at 7 AM as it is predicted to get 110 today. I sure miss having sheep, but only for a few hours. I use a power drive walk behind so I can get my daily walk-in also. I always do my front yard first, because, by the time I get to the back, I am ready to strip down to just a sports bra on top. I keep full-length jeans on after my shorts experiment ended up with multiple insect bites on my legs. The spider bite on one boob is healing nicely.

For the life of me, I don't understand why a sports bra excites old guys since I am 71, but guys will be guys I guess. I tried once to explain to these old farts the magic of the sports pushup bra, but they failed to grasp the gravity of the situation and wanted to see for themselves. Their requests were denied and I am not giving up my over 50 years of widowhood for any man. I am doing them a BIG favor, but they fail to grasp that reality.

So out I go to fire up the gas-powered mower and make no apology to anyone. I am not set up for charging a high-powered electric riding mower and my current bush wasn't cooperative so I dug it up. Besides, the replacement batteries are outrageously priced for those mowers.

In the Southwest, yard work is a combat mission...

I just pulled and cut the tall weeds under the bird feeders, they were getting tall enough that Tiger was using them to ambush birds. That darned Tiger is a stone cold killer, so I have to give the birds a fair chance, otherwise he'll kill several a day. Yesterday he caught a hummingbird, just by launching himself straight up out of the weeds... I don't like to see him do that, so this morning I trimmed everything back beneath the feeders. For the same reason, I also cut down the weeds near the birdbaths & quail blocks.

Bad news: this morning I noticed that I have a fair crop of goathead vines flourishing in the yard, mainly on the southern end of the property. Last thing on earth I want is more freakin' goatheads in my yard... the good news is that the vines are still green, so the goatheads are still on 'em. My trash bin is too full to accept any more weeds until the bin is emptied next Monday, but goathead eradication just moved into a priority slot with the home rehab. I'm gonna remove every last one of those nasty things from my yard, even though it'll be a PITA. Might take two weeks, there are heaps of 'em. :(

Anyway, I'm about due for a self-administered haircut, we still have the dog days of August ahead, and I gotta stay cool... so it's time to bust out the electric clippers and attachments, lol. Meh, it doesn't take that long, and I've been cutting my own hair for over a decade now... I started doing it to save money and skip the hassle of going to a barbershop and waiting my turn. Takes me about 10 minutes to trim the sides & back, I don't touch the top because there's only so much up there, lol. Angled attachments for the upper sides & back, 1/8" flat attachment for everything below, razor on the neck... and done. ;)

Otherwise, I'm still seeking motivation to start painting... I talked to a friend about this weird lack of motivation, and I told him that I was sick of home rehab, this is the third home I've rehabbed in six years. On the other hand, I want to get the goldurned painting done so I NEVER have to do it again, lol. Once I'm done painting this home, I hope to be dead before it needs paint again... one way to solve the problem, lol. So death actually has ANOTHER benefit, besides no more taxes and no more scumbag politicians: it also means NO MORE HOME REHAB WORK, lol. :woo hoo:

If it's anything like any other court, if you don't take them and they don't show, you "win" by default.
Many prayers dear friend.

Crosseyed with a migraine, so consolidating files on usb flash drives and adding the files to the spreadsheet. not glamorous, but it needed to be done :)
Dr. Donothing back on call. lol.
Get a piece of ice and put it in a bag and put a touch of cooking spray or baby oil on it, then massage the back of your head on the muscles at the base of your skull on the side that hurts.
if it gets worse, you have a pinched nerve.

I have a fast fix for your door, instead of painting it, get a piece of flooring that covers the bottom 18" of door and put it on with a few self drilling screws (sheet rock screws) It will last months and won't show sharkbites like naked paint. its cleaner and faster too. :)

Had yesterday off for Pioneer Day, a Utah state holiday celebrating when the pioneers made it here. Had a nice long list of projects to work on. Unfortunately #2 on the list did me in for the day - I was staking a small tree and after pounding in a 8' stake on a ladder, I left the sledgehammer balanced up top and headed down to see if it was sturdy enough to tie up the tree. It was so I spent 15 minutes or so getting the tree all tied up neat and purdy, then went to grab the ladder to put it away - and down comes the sledge onto my right temple. I didn't want to go to the hospital, but my beautiful wife put her foot down and insisted.

Good news: no serious damage done. Bad news: concussion, splitting headache and a very irate wife...

So I'm hearing you are coming to my house this weekend to clean!!!🤪😁
Part of the cleaning is that I finally found a 2 drawer file cabinet - well, actually, my MIL found it. I'm picky, wanted wood not metal. I had stacked things that needed to go in it. I had to get some of the hanging file folders which I did Sunday. This morning I began that oh so fun task of putting things in files and getting them in the drawers. Once the piles surrounding the file cabinet are contained, I will shuffle the files and make sure they are in a functional order. Right now it's pretty much files in top drawer and supplies in bottom (paper, labels, etc.) which in and of itself is helpful. So far I have 2 small metal file boxes to part with. Looking forward to getting other smaller containers out of the way. All that doesn't sound very exciting, but it sure feels better. Also, this morning, brought 3 big cardboard boxes to work so they are out of the summer kitchen.
Have a dehydrator loaded with apricots.

Haircut is done, feels better already, lol... ever since the Aaarrrrgghmy, I've worn my hair short, solely for comfort and low maintenance. As adults, we all make choices, and if somebody else wants to wear long hair, well, more power to that person, lol. In some cultures, I believe long hair is a symbol of male virility, like a lion's mane or whatever... moi, I'll take the easy route with cool comfort, low maintenance, low cost of maintenance, etc. Some of you who've worn uniforms and headgear (including a helmet) know that it can get hot under that cover, and darned miserable under any serious humidity... I've always had a "high thermostat" and fast metabolism, so I get hot easily, therefore I choose to keep my hair short. So it is written, so shall it be done, lol... ;)

P.S. One good thing about cutting your own hair is that you can drink a cold beer while you're doing it, lol... last time I checked, alcohol is NOT served in barbershops (or in jail either, lol), but I can drink triple shots of tequila if I want, though the "style" of the cut tends to suffer. Better to stick with beer until the cutting is done, lol...
