Got home and picked up my kid from her mom. I'm in a sour mood though, because of what I think is a cracked molar or cavity or tooth infection of some kind. I'm knocking back Naproxen and even rubbing anbesol all over the left side of my mouth, but with very little effect. I called the dentist last week and they said they can't get me in until the first week of August. Well, to be blunt - screw them! Either I'm getting in tomorrow or I'm going somewhere else and not going back.

Not something you can put on hold!!

No sleep yet tonight in this house. DH has been running back and forth to the bathroom. My Peanut pup had a seizure at 1100 this evening. And I don't sleep well to start with. Sigh.
Hi Snappy- probably irrelevant, but my 4-year old spaniel took a random fit 2 years ago, while next to my bed at 2am. Then nothing for 6 months, when he took a huge fit after just being let outside. It looked like some invisible force was throwing him around the yard. Nothing could be found wrong with him, and then he had two smaller ones 6 months apart. My s-i-law in the states then sent me an article about a tick collar that causes fits. Turns out we have the same one for him. I only put it on in the summer (its really expensive) and just put it back in the tin for the winter. I haven't put it on him since, so far so good. It might not be that (he also got rolled by a tractor as a puppy, but was uninjured physically) but just wanted to flag it with you. Hope all is well.

I spent last evening going through some library recipe books (a gorgeous one on pies!) making a list of ingredients for the store cupboard, and checking out what seeds I would like for next year. I have a condition that's flared up so today will be only operating in low gear lol

I had to look up what gout is. It's amazing what all sorts of diseases you can get from eating too much of the wrong food. Hope you feel better!
I am pretty sure I am safe from that one ....don't eat organ meats, don't drink beer ( almost never) , don't eat a ton of red meat , not sure goat counts.

Canned 4 pints of crabapple jelly. Son cut them up for me. I think I am going to make grape jelly next and stick some in there for pectin. We have 2 grapevines but they didn't get sprayed at all so now they have fungus from all the wet and humidity. Not many useable grapes on there but a few. They are concord grapes which don't really taste good, so the only thing they are good for is jelly or juice

Son got financial aid for college, yeah! I was starting to get worried especially since we just had to get him a new car. I am going to be happy when he graduates but he has about 4 more semesters to go plus has to somehow take a foreign language for a few semesters since he didn't finish it in high school. Not his fault either. He took French but they never offered French 2. Typical government bureaucracy...
More rain today. I guess I will be pulling weeds . Put out some new lettuce seeds and planted some garlic yesterday also.

Back in the day I had a lot of tooth pain, I took sticks of gum and put a heavy coating of Baby Orajel, (the strong stuff) and then re-wrapped the sticks of gum, made myself a take along pack, it got to hurting I would pop in a stick and pack it around the tooth, it helped for a short term.... For me cold really made it worse. I hope you can get it fixed ASAP.

@Spikedriver tooth pain is the absolute worst! It's worse than kidney stones and no amount of painkillers seem to work. I hope you can find an emergency dentist soon. In the meantime, take some hydrogen peroxide and do a 50/50 mix with water. Swish it around in your mouth for 45 seconds. It doesn't taste good but it helps with the infection. Sending you virtual hugs bc I've been there & know how bad it is. I had a dentist tell me I couldn't be seen for a few months so I had to search around to find one who would take me right away. It's awful when it radiates through your whole jaw and up to your eyes and down your neck. Hang in there!

My brother got home pretty late but we watched Grantchester together. I'm about to take a nap so I can get up to take my friend to his dental appointment. Bro is off work today so he wants to come along.

@Spikedriver Definitely find someone else. I broke a molar when I was 7-8 months pregnant chewing tums in the middle of the night, called my dentist and he basically said oh you're pregnant? I'm not touching it until after you have the baby. Left me to suffer. DH called his sister's old dentist, who saw me right away and temp fixed it to get me through. I never went back to the jerk and have been with good dentist for 20+ years now.

Today is son's transplant day!
Glad to get to it, so we can get through it.
The chemo is more intense than anything he's had before, and it's starting to take its toll.
Just take it day by day, that's all we can do.

Feeling very grateful for a 43 year old male from Germany who went through the process and donated his bone marrow. That's all we're allowed to know about him at this point (anonymity is required for a minimum of two years). I don't know that we have any Germans on this site, much less this specific donor - just putting out the vibe of our gratitude in hopes that somehow he'll know.

...and, my dentist doesn't do root canals??? What the heck?

So, I have a cracked molar on the left side. The root is pretty much dead, but is causing inflammation to the nerve. Dentist says the tooth is structurally ok and can be saved with a little work. But I have to go to an oral surgeon type guy an hour away.

When I was a kid, I remember the dentist just doing this stuff right there in his office. Wonder when it became so specialized...

a tick collar that causes fits.
No tick collar here. Only flea med I can use is Advantix plus and only use that in the summer. They seem to come from chemicals or preservatives. I usually find out that DH gave her something that is not an approved treat. Carrots, cheese, dried sweet potato slices.
When it hits 80 I'm done for the day.
I stop and go in when it hits about 92. With the humidity here, that is more than enough!

Walked first this morning.
Separated turkey and veggies from broth that cooked in roaster over night.
Chilling broth today to scoop off fat before canning tomorrow.
Have last load of laundry in washer.
Harvested okra and figs today.
Will pressure can the separated turkey in broth in the instant pot this afternoon.
I'm about ready for summer to be over!

Only 90 here, today, and such a relief from over 100. Prayers going out to you today, Goshen, and I pray all goes great for your son today.
Got the animals done, dropped off little granddaughter to our neighbors for watching, and spent an hour with our lawyer in preparation for tomorrow's court pre trial. Hoping all this stops at pre trial.
Getting some laundry and a bit of clean up done and dinner making this afternoon. Family therapy happens at our place tonight.

Thanks, it is, I'm pretty pain tolerant for the most part but this is another whole league, lol. Yeah, crystals that can flare up whne you eat certain foods, tomatoes is one of them. I love my maters and in the last week or so ate way too many I think. I mean why can't it be escargot or something, lol.
I am allergic to shellfish. Folks have said "oh poor you, etc." I say, "Are you kidding? Thank God I'm not allergic to spuds."
Hope you're feeling better by now.
@snappy1 Hope you're getting some sleep.
@Amish Heart My prayer for your family is that you are relieved of the stresses that prevent a peaceful home life 💕

Heads up bro, the ditch medic is online!
Wash your mouth out with hot salt water, hot as you can stand it without hurting yourself.
Hold the water in until it cools, repeat twice, swish it around as much as you can! you may just have some food in a cavity.

Get a 1/2 pint of cheap, high proof bourbon, you're NOT drinking the swill, you're irrigating the tooth with it. hold it over the tooth until you just have to spit it out. ONLY BOURBON! flavored crap will make it worse!

Follow with a shot of hydrogen peroxide, make it fast, swish and spit, do not swallow!

Now we get technical, get a pea sized lump of canning wax and soften it in warm water and work it into the offending tooth. and chomp down. this method should buy you a week before the nerve starts to degrade again.

Barring all that, get some cotton balls and a bottle of medical grade Listerine, the nasty flavored stuff, NOT the minty flavored stuff.

Using a baby food jar or like size, mix a tube of toothache jel and the Listerine and pop it full of cotton balls and soak them, every time your tooth hurts, chomp on a fresh cotton ball.

Hope this helps man!

It's been another long day.
I've been to Doctor.
Had another hearing test done.
My ears felt like they're stopped up.
Nope, ear infection in left ear.
Got medicine, should be good to go in a few days.
Dad was restless last night.
My "Turtle" car is going into the shop tomorrow evening.
Check engine light came on, that's the first time that's happen.
Hopefully nothing drastic.
Evergy(electric company) had new driver, jump curb on the way to Doctor's appoint.
Lucky guy knocked down 2 electric poles across major highway before he got stopped.
Nobody way injured thankfully.
Got to take the scenic route to see new Doctor, in new clinic, in entirely different town across the river.
Eventful day.

@ABR I’m very sorry to hear about your grandmother. I’m sure she appreciated you being with her As I’m certain your ancestors were as well. Prayers for you all.

@MoBookworm1957 prayers for you and dad. Mine occasionally calls me by my mom’s name too. I’ve tried the knitting machine but never could get the hang of it.

l’m canning 19 pints of green beans we brought back from the Amish farm. Just about 19 pounds of beans

eta I actually got 20 pints
Thank you Tommyrice.

I'm sorry about your Grandma @ABR but glad she was at home.
And I'm glad you can spend time with your dad @MoBookworm1957 . I think time is the most important gift we have to give!
@sonya123 , I am keeping my eye on a crabapple tree on the next block from me. I don't think anyone picks from it and will ask the homeowner if I can, when it's time. I want to make pectin and maybe some jelly.

After Church today, I am going to lunch with a friend.
Then walk dogs.
Roast turkey carcass and then cook overnight with leftover veggies for stock to can tomorrow.
Thank you snappy1.
Me too.

My "check engine" light came on and it was a faulty gas cap. Got a new one for $20 bucks and all was good.

I purchased a code reader from Harbor Freight. It lets me read the code and clear them. It has paid for itself many times over.

There few things that disturb me more than seeing that light lit on the dashboard. It rates right up there with the TP roll being installed upside down.
