Animals done in the damp weather this morning, but the cooler temps were welcome. Picked tomatoes. Cleaned out the rabbit cages. Made husband lunch, and we'll be getting little granddaughter soon and taking her with us to Wichita to get husband's spine injection. He can't drive after getting it, so I'll be the driver today.

LadyLocust, glad to see you back.
INResponse, is it possible the managers are going to keep most of the bonus for themselves (probably not legal or within the rules, but I wonder if they are doing it against the rules)?
Wingnut, I feel the same way. Not motivated. Stomach not feeling good today and I feel run down. Mild sinus headache too. Kitties are happily snuggling with me though.
I'm going to nap and then make myself get up and clean.

We are told the managers have their own success share program and this chunk of money is only for the employees. We keep hearing the managers are busy with other issues, with inventory that just finished on Monday, and with employee problems. Which may be the case, but how long would it take to hang a piece of cardboard on the wall in the break room? Surely a manager, or one of the 3 assistant managers, or the stores HR person, or anyone they want to point a finger at could take a minute and hang the thing on the wall. If they wanted to that is.

I just checked my account, my share (take home) was $365, which is the largest I ever received including the year I worked full time. I will take that and not complain but it just adds to the wonder of why the manager didn't want to tell us the total amount of the bonus for the store. Oh well, I am good.

I slept great last night. Probably the best nights sleep in months. I guess I need to pay that back by actually doing something around here today.

Went ahead and worked through the lack of desire... wound up watering all the trees and pulling up a sack o' goatheads, some of them quite large because I'd let them slide for a few days. Those things never quit, I've never seen their like for constantly attacking a property. Oh, well, every time I dump a sack o' goatheads in the trash bin, that's hundreds or even thousands fewer on my property in the long run. I sure hope this eradication program works and next season is much lighter in terms of goatheads, I could go the rest of my life and never see another... wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit, lol. But these things are my cross to bear this season, they are relentless! A tough & determined enemy...

Very busy day! Walked first, anyway.
Dropped off two large bags of clothes for donation at thrift shop.
Went to Tractor supply for back up dog foods- just in case.
Went to Walmart for produce which looked surprisingly good and full..
Went to DH's pulmonology appt. with him. Lung infection is back. He got two shots and RX for antibiotics and steroids.
Came home and walked dogs.
Made chocolate milk out of oat milk for DH- used Nestle Quick.
Made a cucumber salad for DH.
Made oatmeal for breakfasts.
Made a taco salad for dinners.
Made Pumpkin muffins.
Made Mango muffins.
Going to Bible study tonight to get some rest!

What kind of coffee did you drink?! You must have been like a ninja in the kitchen!

What a crazy week. I'm ready for it to be over but might end up having to drive a load to the powder coater tomorrow - not sure yet.
I think I mentioned that they left tons of onions in the field behind us. We'd been going down here and there and gleaning a bucket or two. Last night after work, I got a nudge. I took a wheelbarrow down and filled it up with huge beautiful onions. I hate to see food go to waste. The funny part if you were a fly on the power pole (there are no walls in the field), it's downhill to get to them with the empty wheelbarrow and uphill with it full o_O I got my workout for the day. Well, turns out it was a good nudge. This morning as I was leaving for work a tractor pulled in to till it all under 🙁 I bet I could have given everyone on here a bag of onions with what was left in the field. They probably figured it wasn't a full semi load, or they couldn't get the little slope with the potato picker they were using to harvest them (they couldn't find laborers this year). Anyhoo, I am very grateful for what I got. It will be more than enough to last us the year.

Thank God!

I added a drain valve to allow me to drain the lines the next I have to do maintenance.

I was nervous getting the regulator installed. The job is done and I am trying to relax and waiting for the adrenaline to go down.

Thank God that project is done!

Ben

Since going (almost) vegetarian, I have had insane energy. I thought I was energetic before, but yikes! This is not for sissies! Lol

We've had a hectic night out here in the slums.

The crackhead next door was on a tear laughing, screaming wanting to fight, punching and kicking in the door of his own car all night, revving the engine of the V8 he's been working on for the last year. Thankfully it's packed in behind other cars in his drive way and he can't get it out of the yard!
My car is on the other side of the house where I parked it close to the steps to get the groceries out.
Thank goodness.
....it's around 7am and he's STILL at it.
Landshark did a good job last night.
Even tweeking crackheads won't risk climbing the fence and the electric fence to face her.
If anyone was wondering WHY I don't rehouse her..THAT would be the reason why!

I really need to go get chicken feed before the weekend so I'm going to wait till he runs out of steam and goes and sleeps it off so I can get out and back before he wakes up.

INresponse, maybe they were just too lazy to get around to it. Glad you got a good bonus though.
Wingnut, I'm glad you got yourself motivated and were productive.
Ben, is that a check valve/backflow preventer?
Snappy, I'm glad you have more energy.

Stomach felt like absolute garbage this morning and afternoon. Forced myself to clean the hallway (cats and dogs drag stuff in there and leave dirt) and then started on the kitchen but felt dizzy and had to sit down. Made the mix of baking soda and white vinegar (didn't bother with lemon juice as the smell wasn't as strong as I'd expected). Spread it over the inside of the sink as much as possible and on a test spot on the underside of the toilet seat cushion. Going to let it sit an hour and go check. If it works I'll use more.

Got up. Found out my pet fish had died. We put him in a brown coffee filter and buried him under the mums in the backyard.

Went to Mount Holly and put mums in my cradles. Met a nice lady with a black poodle named Iho who gave me sweet kisses.

Put the potatoes in the dehydrator.

I'm going to my sister's for cake. Getting my PT out since I'm off today and it's my fun driver.

Husband got his spine shot, and it took all afternoon...long drive and the doc was running an hr late. Filled the dehydrators with green onion and cabbage shreds. Filled the freeze dryer with apple slices. Still have a half of a bushel of apples, but they're holding up just fine, so I'll keep add it. I already have home canned apples, applesauce, apple pie filling, and a number of buckets of dehydrated apples, so this is something different. Granddaughter is home tonight, first time in 2 weeks, but has said a few words to me. I've been given the silent treatment for the last few days again. Happens so often it seems abnormal when she does speak. I'm sure she is gearing up to ask something that we would probably say no to. The three grade school kids in band (little granddaughter is one of them) and spending tomorrow morning at the High School, practicing with the big kids. They are playing pep tunes and the half time show for tomorrow nights Homecoming Game. She is very excited.

Well, this old hardhead finally got something done today that he had been dreading for years...
Verizon had been sending me warnings that they would be ending their 3G service at the end of the year, and I HAD to get a new phone!
I refused, and they finally broke down and sent me a new phone, for free:) without me even asking for it.
Here was the problem: they assume that everyone has a smartphone, and their instructions to transfer your contacts was this:
"🤪It's simple! Just log onto the internet and upload your contacts to the 'Verizon Cloud' and download them onto your new phone! 🤪".
Guess what, a 2012 phone don't do internet.
The girl at the Verizon store said they charge $19.95 to do the transfer.
I told her: "Go for it!!!"
I got my money's worth.
She didn't even make the California minimum-wage of $22/hr because it took her over an hour, and she knew what she was doing:eyeballs:.
I thanked her and told her I would be back........in 10 years:oops:.

Edit: I forgot the bonus. The Samsung guy just happened to be there working on their display table in there. I showed him my old phone and the name Samsung on it.
When I told him that this is what reliable looks like, and that it had been in continuous operation for over 87,600 hours, his eyes got really big:eek:.
He got a promo folding coffee cup from his car to give to me.:D
This should probably go in the "funnies" thread, but it is a follow-up.
When I got my service transfered, I used my VISA card to pay for it instead of having it tacked onto my account.
Verizon was so impressed, they sent me a letter today telling me I was pre-approved for a Verizon VISA card! :woo hoo:

Only 29.99% interest, Supe!!! What a deal... 🤣

Another restful day, now I'm having a cold beer & thinking about a movie. 🤔

Gearing up mentally for tomorrow's ride, gotta lotta options when it comes to trails, lol. I saw a dirt road through 'Russian Canyon' last time I was up there, dunno whether I'll try it or simply play things by ear... we shall see, yeah?

Lots going on at work, getting toward the end of fiscal year and that's always stressful. Also did the second week of my spectrum management class and already started on week 3 (which don't start until Sunday), but I'm trying to get a little ahead cause we are taking a week off in October and I don't want to have to deal with class while I'm off. Class is tougher than I expected and is getting deep into things. So far the big push is to learn where to gather information and how best to research for info you need. So far so good.
Got home tonight to 10 degree cooler temps and dropping another 10 tomorrow. Low 70's Anyway watered my peppers and okra. Still producing well and they needed the moisture. Loaded more stuff up in the camper. And started loading up the truck to go to the dump tomorrow after work. Was loading an old toilet up and something popped in my arm or shoulder. It is painful, but don't have any limit to motion. Hope I haven't screwed something up.

Sliced and diced a large kohlrabi from our garden and got it in the freeze drier. For some reason two of the plants really took off and were almost as big as a soccor ball before I picked them. It mostly filled all the trays in my large Harvest Rite.

Just a note.....those handy cabbage slicers that work so well for making sauerkraut and such can really make your fingers hurt and bleed.

Yes, there are sharp & dangerous objects in the kitchen... I'm pretty careful that way, I think too many folks get lax in the kitchen and that's when bad things happen. When ya think about it, you can get cut, burned, scalded, shredded, pared, etc., in the kitchen, so it's a good place to observe some simple safety rules. I'm an old hand in the galley, but I've had my share of mishaps in past decades. Mostly finger cuts, but an occasional burn or scald to round things out, lol...

I am getting frustrated with the weather here! It started cooling down and I started planning breeding the rabbits again at the end of the month due to heat sterilization of bucks... Well it is suppose to be over 90+ by this weekend and for the rest of the month! I am still going to try breeding but I am not expecting it to take. I'll try in the morning while it is cooler.

Still cleaning and purging junk and unneeded things. K and I decided that if getting rid of big items means the move is smoother for us then we are going to do it. The goal is to be packed and ready to leave Commiefornia November 15th, 2023 with 2 kids, 2 dogs, the cats and the rabbits in a motorhome following a u-haul truck. I just hope I can sell the station wagon in the next year.

Other than that nothing new or exciting.

Just laundry and dishes, followed by homeschooling and animal chores.

I know the answer will be No, but bring the buck inside for a few days to let him cool down in the A/C. It's a thought.

Framed for the concrete for the side patio. After work tonight I went out and set up the laser level to adjust the frame. Way more accurate than guessing with a level, and I was able to a put stake at the high point of the long board and pound it in further to straighten out the slightly bowed 2x4. I have a 1" drop from left to right but the drain is in a couple feet from the side on the low end and sits a half inch lower so everything will be sloped towards the drain. Glued the drain and drain pipe together and letting it set up tonight. Tomorrow I will secure the drain (4"x4"x3 feet) into the ground with rebar stakes as recommended so it stays in place when the concrete is poured.
At work tonight my youngest son sent me a text asking "Are you here?" I didn't know what he was talking about at first then realized he was probably at my older sons football game. Oh Crud!!! I rechecked the message their mom sent me 3 weeks ago. I read it at least a dozen times and never noticed it listed 3 dates for 3 weeks of games. I completely missed the middle game, and last week when I got the message that game was cancelled it was probably a good thing because in my mind I was going to Mesquite and his game would have been 60 miles away in Las Vegas. I would have missed that game but at least I would have known about this weeks game. I was waiting to hear back on the rest of his schedule for this season. I didn't hear anything and figured there was no game scheduled this week. I have no idea how I did not read the test correctly. I completely missed the middle part listing the second game. I don't know how I overlooked it but I NEVER saw the word VALLEY until I looked tonight after missing the game. He was upset but said he understood.

Mel, I'm sorry about your fish. I hope the cake was good.

Amish Heart, I hope the spine shot works for your husband. Is it a numbing or does he get some sort of RF treatment? I hate when the doctors are running late.

Supervisor, Love how you wrote on the paper to give your thoughts. IMO, anything over 10% should be Usery- bank or not. The terms on those things are ridiculous but they count on people not actually reading them.

Sparky, I hope the hearing aids you like come in soon and glad you're getting a lower price.

Wingnut, good luck on the ride tomorrow. I'm glad you got some rest. Speaking of dangerous things in the kitchen, I have managed to cut my thumb on the corner of the microwave door. Not even sure how.

Backpacker, something in your shoulder popping does not sound good. Hope you put ice on it just in case. And I hope it wasn't your rotator cuff.

montanabill, I've heard of kohlrabi but never had it. Sorry the slicers hurt your fingers.

Grimm, the weather can't make up its mind if its going to be hot or cold. It was somewhat cool the last few days but hot today (technically yestrday). I also need to purge un-needed junk. Started on that today but had to sit down.

INrespsonse, sorry you missed your son's game. Any plans to post pics of the concrete patio stuff? I love seeing the process on that. Found some youtube channels of people pouring concrete and obessively watched. I love watching stuff like that and wish I was more adebt at actually doing stuff.

Today after the dizzy spell & having to sit down, I got back up and started trying to clean my sink. Letting the vinegar and baking soda sit an hour didn't really do much so I did a second batch with more baking soda this time. I enjoyed watching the baking soda fizz when I added vinegar. I made a paste and spread it on as best as I could. It stuck better to the front. Was going to check on it in 2 hours but the power went out and stayed out for 2 hours and it got dark. I took a nap and woke up after the power came back on maybe 3 hours after and started trying to scrub the stuff in the sink. Got a little of the stains off at the front. Came off from around the overflow. Scrubbed until my hands gave out and took a break. I've been going back in and scrubbing. Letting it sit longer for now. Will probably have to do another coating for the stuff at the back where the sink is more vertical and its harder to mess with. I added some salt for grit to see if it would help. I've been going in and scrubbing sporadically. Found some stuff sticking up that I was able to scrape some of it off but not all of it. No idea what the stuff is. Thinking of getting a pumice stone but I'm afraid it will further damage the sink. Trying to get back to sleep but even though I'm tired my brain is in overactive mode.

Up earlier today to get the animal chores done before I leave to get the girls to school. Our neighbor's little one has been sick, not getting better, and needs to go to the doc first thing this morning. So I'm the driver. Hoping to work on the greenhouse later and this weekend. Tonight is the HS homecoming game, and little granddaughter will be in the band for half time, so I'll be there cheering her on. There's a dance afterwards, so I'm sure the twins won't be home till way past my bedtime.

Yes, there are sharp & dangerous objects in the kitchen...
I bought a pair of cut proof gloves from Amazon. They have saved my hands while using both my grater/ shredder and my mandolin.

Will be heading out to walk in a few minutes, then to see a friend.
Will harvest this evening and water garden. Hoping this is the last week of hot weather here.

You might get rain out of that tropical depression that may be a hurricane in the gulf next week!

You might get rain out of that tropical depression that may be a hurricane in the gulf next week!
That may actually help as long as it doesn't bring more 90 plus weather with it. I haven't looked at the weather in the tropics lately.

It rained a little yesterday , then it got windy and cool. Fall seems to be just on time, leaves are starting to fall off everywhere.

We butchered 4 meat chickens for us. I cut them up and seperated the parts. Husband figured it costs $1.25 per pound of chicken for us to produce them.

Made Japanese curry for the first time. It was surprisingly good but not really spicy.

Getting ready for the festival tomorrow ( we are vendors) today. I am going to drive my truck, hope it doesn't break down. WIsh us luck!! It's an hour away like everything around here. Plus I have to drive on the interstate to get there

Debating on what to do with the bucks. They can't be in the pasture next to the girls for the next few weeks. We don't want broken fence or goat kids too early in the winter. It's too cold here in Jan and Feb, so we try to not have any till March ( lambs are more tolerant to the cold so they go first)
We move animals around everyday but won't have time tomorrow since it will still be dark when we leave. I guess they will stay in their goat boy house.
