It is with heavy heart and deep sadness.
My Dad has passed peacefully.
My Dad was well loved.
He was known by many titles, but some of his favorites was:
Dad by his four children, Grandad by his nine grandchildren, and "Sugar" by at least one great grand daughter,Grandpa, and Grandad by his other twelve great grandchildren.
He will be missed.
I have moved back into my own apartment this week.
I want to Thank Patchouli for reaching out to me.
It was appreciated.
I will be reading and catching up on the forums in the coming days.
May they find peace and power in the afterlife and return to give you comfort in time of need.

Did too much today and yesterday, exhausted now
Butchered the remaining meat chickens. Unrolled a not completely dry bale of hay ( yes you read right) next to the pasture in the sun to see if it will dry and keep it from molding
Husband did maintenance on our large generator ( we have solar and a small one for backup we use usually) just in case the power goes off for a while if we get the remains of the hurricane.
Made and burnt a big trash pile
Took dog for a walk up the mountain
did the laundry
cleaned out a section of the barn that hadn't been cleaned since last year (it's not used all the time) . Someone is going in there during the storm this weekend, probably little bucks
Here we're doing all this and might not even get much but we could get a ton of rain, and then trees fall on the power lines and who know how long the power will be off if that happens
Oh and I called my friend in Florida but they are on the east coast so it will probably not be as bad as the other side

I am glad we don't live in Florida anymore...but here we are still preparing for the storm....

Finally got the garbage rounded up, laundry collected, light shopping to hold over to payday. tomorrow I check my prep tools for rust etc.

Ha Sonya...unrolling not dry hay not much fun. I'd think it should dry, though.
Morning chores, then went to work on the greenhouse till noon, then it was reading 90 degrees on the side I was working on and I called it quits. Took my wagon tires into town for repair since I was dropping off a truck for maintenance. Picked up 400 lbs of chicken feed and some chick starter. Chicks due in a couple of days. Picking peppers this afternoon. Got a bucket of jalapeno, a bucket of sweet banana, a bucket of I can't remember what they were, more than a bucket of New Mexico Big Jims to roast and put up, and some poblanos and green bell peppers. I already canned a ton, so I'll bring some to my neighbor in the morning who is wanted to can some. Twins are home tonight...first time in weeks and weeks, so we will be eating dinner together shortly. That'll be different. My favorite cousin is miserable with shingles. They've gravitated towards her ear, after starting on her head on one side.

Spikedriver, that really sucks. :-( I hope you like the new vehicle you found. One suggestion- something that came to bite me in the ass a few times-- use a flashlight to examine the windows and windshields for chips and cracks. Look UNDER where they put the stickers. We had dealerships hide damage to the windshield on used vehicles with giant stickers. Had even asked them about any cracks or dings in the windshield and they lied. Also, it's a good idea to find a nearby mechanic that you trust who will examine it- and get the battery tested. Dealerships often sell vehicles with dead/bad batteries and have to jumpstart them for you to test drive.

Snappy, I'm glad you're feeling better and hope you'll be able to get up more easily in the near future.

Backpacker, what kind of fish you looking to catch?

MoBookworm, I'm very sorry.

My back is not cooperating with me. I have been lying down and trying to keep it from feeling inflamed. Still alternating heat and cold. Need to go get an ice pack now. But I haven't done anything but nap today. Got a message on the answering machine from someone we haven't heard from in years. Friend of ours who had a stroke and found out she had a brain tumor back in 2009. She's had the tumor removed but it slowed her down a lot. I wonder if her husband died or if she's just checking up on us. I suspect the former but we missed the call and it went to the answering machine.

Trying to motivate myself to get up and move.

Today was an in office work day, not bad but I really don't miss spending 3 hours commuting each day... Got home and the wife had made (reheated) our dinner, Amazon had left a pile of boxes, and the wife's par-i-ship box of medicine was waiting for me at the door.

Tomorrow is our 38th anniversary and we have a date night planned. Every year we can survive is an amazing achievement, medical issues can really change your perspectives.

I now believe that I have all the materials that I will need to complete screening in my soon-to-be greenhouse add on.....

Sweet husband had 39 red roses delivered for me today. We'll celebrate our 39th tomorrow and go out to dinner.
And, they're back. Twins got home just a bit ago, and I told them I hope they had a great time. They said they did. And I hope the reconnected with their other side of their family so they can move in with some of them in 303 days.
Congratulations

Mo, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. My prayers are with you and your family.

Congrats on 38 years Urban. Enjoy your date night. Those are special

Zanni we were crappie fishin, trolling for them actually. Only caught a couple of small bass. Very windy day and it was pushing the boat all over the place. Had a great day though. We have been trying to get a trip together this fall, then Dad told me a couple weeks ago he is having cataract surgery in a couple weeks then the other eye 2 weeks after that. So I took some time off so we could go right now. He had a ball.

So, today was my 50th birthday. I spent the day on the phone with the insurance company and running all over trying to find the title to the vehicle. I've no clue where I put it, it wasn't where it was supposed to be and neither were some other documents that were supposed to be there with it. Anyway, I gave up and hauled butt 80 miles back to the county where I lived when I bought the vehicle so I could get a duplicate title. That'll take 5 days to get to me in the mail. Hopefully by that time the insurance company will have all their stuff straightened out too and I can get a check. They're actually going to pay me a comp claim on top of it being totalled - they wanted to total it for hail last year but I didn't want them to so I canceled the claim. They offered to reopen it and give me $5,000 more on top of the 11,000 for the accident. So, I'll for sure be able to get something decent and reliable. But not too nice - I don't see why I should reward my daughter with a nice car after she wrecked the one I was letting her drive for free.

Tomorrow I will make steaks and hash browns to celebrate my birthday a day late. It was too much work today to do it today.

Happy birthday! an important milestone.

That brought up a memory that I can laugh at now… went looking for the photos. Found this one… Once in a great while my old hay baler would fail to tie off a roll. I wouldn’t know this until I dumped the roll out. A 600lb mess! Then I’d have to unroll the roll across the field and then re-bale it. It always ticked me off!!! Wasted a half hour usually. It seemed never to do this except in the worst possible situation. 🤣

Hey, Spikedriver, at least you didn't spend your 50th birthday in JAIL, the way I did after I was falsely charged and my bail was jacked to half a million dollars (no record to speak of either, lol). Yesiree, six months of my life totally ripped off as I waited for my hearings, including my 50th birthday... I really wanted to celebrate that one too, as it IS an important milestone. Meh, at least I had the guts & integrity to stand against that evil corruption... and I helped shoot down the perv D.A.'s bid to become Dago mayor too, though that happened shortly before the third round of fake charges so I got my "payback" ahead of time, lol. In fact, that denial of office probably led to the third round of phony charges, but it's all water under the bridge now, aye? So p!$$ on the corrupt lying scumbags, lol. 😆

I didn't do too badly either, standing alone against that corruption: the first round of fake charges resulted in an acquittal under jury trial, the second round was dropped when I told some D.A.'s lackey how I'd shoot down the charges, and I forced a mistrial in the third round after yet another "star witness" was caught in several lies, lol. And I defended myself the whole time, after drop-kicking the "Public Defender" in my first bogus trial... what a fiasco. Sadly, nobody in D.C. gave a damn about the criminal waste of public funds... though I bombarded the DOJ and Obammy's "Building Formerly Known As The White House" with detailed accounts of the corruption. Think that Kenyan baboon gave a flyin' f___ about some conservative white guy's life being ruined? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Think again... 😒

STILL, I WISH I COULD'VE CELEBRATED MY 50TH BIRTHDAY, BUT ALCOHOL WAS NOT SERVED IN JAIL, LOL. 😉

Happy birthday Spike! I just hit that milestone back in July.

I ordered a new "heart monitor." Actually it's not a heart monitor since I do have to work outside the home. It's actually a fitness tracker/smart watch. My endocrinologist recommended that I get one...he said that if my heart rate spikes it could be an indication that they need to change my medicine. So while I'm not crazy about the tracker/smart watch, I'm even less crazy about a heart monitor and heart problems from a medication and decided that the entry level fitbit is better than a monitor. Plus I can transmit it to my doctor through a portal if I need to, and I turn GPS off. I've had one (Fitbit Inspire HR) for over two and a half years and this one has gotten to where it won't alert, even if the notifications are on (I've checked. They are on on both the watch and the phone), so I decided to upgrade to the Inspire HR3 and was able to get a monthly payment plan. It should be here Monday.

Good morning! Today, I will walk first.
Church to make tea and kool-ade for business meeting tonight.
Pick eggplant and pull up plants.
Pressure can eggplant- experiment. Cutting into french fry pieces and soak in salt water for an hour, then dry pack and pressure can.
Make kettle corn for business meeting.
Go to business meeting.
Got 7 pints of mustard relish yesterday. Looks good, haven't tried it.

Curious to see how that eggplant turns out, Snappy. I still have some to pick, and about 5 of them in the kitchen to do something with.
Little granddaughter and neighbor girls to their schools, and dropping off extra peppers to the neighbor. Have to get animal chores finished up by 930 or so...husband has a doc appt in the bigger town, and he'll drop me off at Aldi to fill a cart, then pick me up after when he's done. Depending on how hot it is this afternoon, maybe getting more areas done on the greenhouse. Not sure.

Morning all! Fun times at work here. lol

@LadyLocust & @UrbanHunter Happy anniversary!

@Spikedriver Happy birthday!

@Bacpacker What were you using to catch crappie? I get them fairly often on small jigs. But then I've caught just about everything on small jigs. 😆 Glad you and dad had a great time!

I'm awake and have energy and want to be productive but my back is not cooperating. Got a heating pad on it right now trying to calm it down. Put a glaze of vinegar and baking soda over my toilet seat cushion and am hoping it will at least reduce the stains. Looks like an ugly glazed donut right now. I don't want to exacerbate my back and be out of commission for months again. So I'm taking it easy. Gonna do stuff that my back can tolerate (no bending). I'm currently trying to plan more work in my bathroom.

I'm watching some How to videos on stuff. Also looking at my toes which somehow got filthy and I can't reach them to wash them.

Urbanhunter, I hope your headache goes away soon.

I also hope everyone is having a good day.

I left them too long on the vines. I thought they were too small. They got over ripe and hard. Made my day easier.

Well, I burned three piles of weeds... only torched one, then dragged the other stuff over and tossed it into the fire. There was some green brush at the bottom of each pile, but that can go into the trash bin next week. I still have three large piles of weeds to burn, but the weather guessers got it wrong today and the wind started to rise, so I put off burning the other piles. Better safe than sorry, lol. However, I'm happy with my progress, my yard should look nice for the upcoming holidays! I didn't burn any of the lopped branches today, I'll save those for feeding campfires this fall. Otherwise, I did some watering and took care of a couple other tasks, now I'm inside resting after a nice shower. Light duty for the rest of the day, as long as I get stuff done it's okay to take a break, lol. Cold beer tastes good right now, I had a tall glass of iced tea & lemonade earlier when I first came indoors, and before my shower, but I'm now in the mood for a beer! Cheers!!!
