Hit the mountains this am. I was hoping to find bullets or chicken of the woods

You hike and hope to find bullets in the moutains?! Huh? Explain that one to me....and what is a chicken of the woods exactly?

But hiking up the mountain sounds like fun, I should take my puppy and do the same after it stops raining

Snappy1, be careful, we don't wanna lose you to some combat street injury!

Well, it was such a cool overcast morning, I decided to pull some weeds after a full watering session. Pulled goathead vines galore, two bulging sacks' worth of the blasted things, lol. Many were wholly LOADED with goathead fruit, so I trashed THOUSANDS of potential puncturevines today! One granddaddy of all goathead vines was HUGE, dunno how I missed it earlier in my eradication campaign, but the thing must have had 150-200 goathead fruit on it, and each fruit produces 5 nutlets (as they're called), each nutlet being a goathead burr and also a seed. A mature vine with only 100 goathead fruit on its branches can still produce 500 more puncturevines... the math behind these goatheads is MIND-BOGGLING!!!

Anyway, I cleaned up this morning like I broke the bank at Monte Carlo, lol, and here's more good news: many of the vines I pulled today had browned-out fruit on 'em, which I presume meant they'd be dropping off the vines in short order, but I managed to catch 'em before this drop-off happened, so they all went into the trash bin, WOOHOO!!! I must have trashed THOUSANDS of goathead fruit today, let's go with a conservative estimate of, say, 2000 goathead fruit. Well, do the math and you'll know that I just prevented 10,000 more puncturevines from establishing a foothold on my property! I am SO glad I decided to pull weeds after all, and I have this cooler fall weather to thank for it. I love this weather!!! :)
SUPE, THIS IS HOW I FELT AFTER TODAY'S WEEDING SESSION!!! I'M A GOATHEAD-KILLIN' MACHINE!!! :dancing:

I went out and got some much needed trigger therapy.

Now to relax, have a nice dinner and, did I say relax LOL.

Still fighting with my washer. Daughter has a way of handling it, doesn't give her too much problem. Also means she has to be on point while it's running and who wants to do that? Yeah, nobody of course. After researching it, it looks like it needs 4 replacement suspension rods, or modification to the ones that are on it. In one video, transparent rubber piping with wire sandwiched inside of it was used on the lower part of the suspension rods (modification), or pay the price for the rods and a repair. Or get a new to me washer.
Other than that, working on cleaning up the kitchen, studying, thinking about going out for stars later since there is no moon tonight and it might be uncloudy.

I just kept going for a while today. Hope to feel less stove up tomorrow.

Watching "Lou" on Netflix.

Well, I'm not Lou! Lol

I fell down and it hurts to take a deep breath! Also takes a minute to stand. Once I get moving, I'm off to the races until I cough. Hah!

Be careful! It happened to me last month. I fell hard in a perfectly good parking lot. Got out of my truck and bam! I was stove up for a week.

Dindo nuffin today. I wanted to scout some plants but it stayed over cast all day. Going to fix dinner in a bit, maybe toss a load of laundry in the wash.

Hooray I got the garage all finished. It was a gross mess. Now to keep the grandkids out of our stuff. They return things by throwing them on the floor. Not cool. Two more big projects to work on now: our walk in closet...the whole rod and shelfing came down. Was very cheap, not screwed in to studs, just a mess. Everything needs to come out of it and it needs to be redone. And the greenhouse. Top and two sides are done. Two other sides, the doors, and the interior need to be done. Twins popped in for an hour to do a chore, and I couldn't find little granddaughter cleaning her room like she was supposed to be...found her in her sis's room and her sis was asking her about anything she has heard what we say and telling her to report. I told her to come out of there and get busy on her room. Pretty much had it with the twins. They did not hear me come upstairs, so the look on their faces was priceless. She asked why we weren't going to my favorite cousin's place for dinner, and I told her she had the night off from spying.

Chicken of the woods is a fungus, so I'm thinking the bullet is too but not sure.

Started trying to pull my husband's clothes out of the closet today, and sort through a couple of boxes he had stuffed in there. Not a good day. But it's raining so I can't just go out on my motorcycle and avoid it for another day.

When you're replacing the kitchen faucet, and that stupid nut that holds the thing in place unscrews half an inch and then freezes up solid ... never underestimate the power of a sawzall ! Pull the faucet up that 1/2 inch, weasel that blade in there, and pull the trigger. Done!

I'm what you call a home plumbing amateur, but I get the job done!

Sawzall.jpg

The new faucet is a motion sensing unit. I wouldn't have gotten that, but the wife did. It actually works very well. Not like those stupid faucets in restaurants where you have to wave your arms around continuously just to get a few intermittent drops of water. Then you have to fight with their siblings - the nitwit soap dispenser and the stingy paper towel dispenser. This new faucet is a wave on, wave off model that senses perfectly (so far). It has a manual bypass in case you don't want the automation, so you can use it as a traditional faucet. I'm more impressed with it than I thought I'd be.

My 90 minute massage turned into 2 hours, so I am doing much better this afternoon. I am sorting out the blank T-shirts I bought cheap from a neighbor, but I am guessing he has a cat because my nose is stuffed up and my eyes are itching. A few more minutes and the Benadryl should start working. Most of the shirts are black, which is fine and will look great with a white print on them. Plenty of white, and a mixture of other colors. I am guessing I will order up some heat transfers for the oddball colors and styles and take the generator and heat press to the corner so people can pick the design and the shirt and I can press them as needed. I don't want to print designs on shirts that wont be needed by most people, including the ladies cuts, odd colors, and the sleeveless shirts.

My GF is in Vegas tonight at a friends house in between her two 3 day trips. Tomorrow night and Tuesday nights are both supposed to be in Tampa, so far the pending storm is not causing delays or cancellations and it looks like it will ease up and stay off the Florida coast so she is hoping it doesn't mess up her work schedule. We shall see. I will be very jealous if she gets to enjoy a (mild) hurricane in her hotel room while I am stuck here in the boring weather of southern Utah.

This should probably go in the "funnies" thread, but it is a follow-up.
When I got my service transfered, I used my VISA card to pay for it instead of having it tacked onto my account.
Verizon was so impressed, they sent me a letter today telling me I was pre-approved for a Verizon VISA card! :woo hoo:

I can hardly wait!!!😁
I can't imagine what I would need that I would even consider paying 30%!!! We get quickbooks wanting to loan us money all the time - almost as funny.

I cooked, tried to get stain out of my floor (still not getting it out-- will post pics after I take them), did a little cleaning in the kitchen. I really need to do some major cleaning though. Got RMA info on the laptop for warranty to get it repaired. Trying to find an outer box for the little box. Gonna insure it and hope shipping isn't too much. Still trying to select an outer box. Either an amazon package or a toilet tank box. whichever is smaller. LOL. I'll have to mention there's a lithium battery inside and hope that doesn't change the price.

I can't get to sleep bc I'm thinking about plans for tomorrow. Have to get the laptop packed, labeled, insured, & sent off. Then I need to clean the pantry so I can get stuff out in the kitchen put away. Gotta clear off all the shelves, get rid of expired stuff, wipe everything down, vacuum, chase mice out for cats to catch, etc.

Learning about Postmodernism/ liberal humanism and how deconstruction is the main concept as a literary theory. Yeah, I don't get it either... in an effort to distract myself during class break I made a raspberry and white choc loaf cake, and put a shin beef stew in the slow cooker. Later I have to give a presentation on what my portfolio will be this year. Up until Friday I was convinced I was on the right track. Now I'm thinking I should go back to 1st year. Wish me luck. On the good side, my youngest brother is visiting today; I haven't seen him in four years. :D

Got nothing done yesterday. I guess I had to recoup from the festival. Well, I cooked and did the dishes, other than animal chores but that was it
Talked on the phone with my brother, and my friend in Florida. They have covid for the second time ( the Florida friends) but she said it was not as bad as the first time.

Today, I will walk first, slowly, I think. Will stop at clinic and see if I can get prescription for sleep meds changed. Pretty sure that contributed to it. It's a little easier to breathe this morning, but still hurts some.
Already have last load of laundry in washer.
With the last gallon of figs (thawed), I will roast some and then make Blackberry Jalapeno Figs jam with the rest.
Water garden tonight. No rain lately but it is supposed to cool down into the mid 50's by tomorrow morning. Yay!

Goodness, @snappy1 I hope you’re just giving yourself a rest today. I tripped over an immovable box (full of books) a few years ago and probably slightly fractured a rib or two; it hurt almost like what you’re describing, off and on for weeks!
No, you’re not Lou, me neither! I watched that last night too. Impressive what happened in the little fishing cabin. Took notes. Lol

I’ve been at the cabin since Saturday. Yesterday was beautiful. Today is raining like crazy. We’re up here to close it up for the season. We usually do that more towards the end of October, but dad wanted to do it before October this year. Winter is coming up here. Next day tha not raining too much we’ll go and harvest the Lima beans my brother planted. Hopefully we’re going to be here for the potato harvest. Will also stop over at his Amish friend’s farm and the last fresh stuff we can up here. Planning on stopping for apples on the way back to Jersey.

After our drills yesterday I am doing very little that requires me to move too fast. My legs, and feet still are achy from it. I ain't as young as I used to was, lol.

I'm at my PCP now. Hope to get meds changed.

Ohh!! I didnt catch the spell check that got me..lol..they are mushrooms! Fall mushrooms but it was still too dry dispite the rain we got.

I hope everyone who's injured/in pain/under the weather feel better soon!

Catching up a little bit here, busy at work today. Working on the quarterly reconciliation for the parts we warehouse and ship for a customer. I have to account for every single piece of 1,125 different parts of varying quantities. Or try to at least. It's actually not as bad as it sounds.

The Ren Faire was fun, we stayed all day. It was quite a bit more crowded than usual but I think that's probably because the weekend before was rainy so everyone came this weekend. The weather was cool in the morning and nice the rest of the day. I'll post a pic of me and my son in the pictures thread, we didn't take pic of anything else, DH didn't want to bring his camera this time.

Sunday was my usual shopping then go to my parents' to help out with chores. I did dishes, laundry, vacuumed, dumped the trash and recycling and helped dad pull out and test his new mobility scooter. It's a small foldable one, works pretty good but will be learning curve to control in tight areas. But you can disengage the motors and push it like a wheelchair so whoever's with him can do that if needed. Then went home and did more dishes and cleaned up. I wanted to pull some of my potatoes but of course it started sprinkling so I'll wait until later in the week. My back was starting to hurt anyway, I need another massage to get these knots out.

Thanks, Chaosdown. I just pulled my back this morning. I was packing up the laptop, was bending down to put some bubble wrap in and something pulled. Not even sure how. Put ice packs on it. Using heat and vibration now (ice pack is re-freezing). Hurts all the way through to my hips. So, no cleaning today. I can barely move and this is annoying the hell out of me. My brother helped and carried the laptop box for me and we shipped it off. I wrote the RMA # all over the boxes. Had to send it in a toilet tank box with some campbell's soup crates, bubble wrap, etc. I'm going to try to take a nap and let my back relax.
