Yesterday one fo the cats, Sebastian, was straining and howling. I thought he might be constipated so I gave him pumpkin. He threw it up so I took him to the vet. He ended up getting an enema and a boat load of meds to help him heal because of his age. He has some issues in his hips now from the straining and a mild infection. The vet showed me the x-rays and told me what my options were. I cheaped out by bringing him home after the enema but I have to give him SQ fluids and 5 different meds. I have alarms set since most are once or twice a day and some are at 1am or 5am. Fun.

I bred my does this morning before it got hot. I gave the buck a frozen bottle to cool down with between girls. I will try again tomorrow. I may just start at 5 am when I have to give Sebastian his medication. I got about 2 fall offs per doe but I want to give him a chance to finish the job with more.

May they find peace and power in the afterlife and return to give you comfort in time of need.
I am pretty sure he's getting an earful from my Mom.
About his foolish behavior.
Black Corvette, two twenty something young women.
He said steam would be venting from the ground while Mom chewing his behind.
And when Mom is through with him, there will be several others waiting in line to do some chewing.
But you're right, they are together at last.
And he's no longer in pain.

MO, sometimes no thanks are needed or wanted.
You have been fighting this battle for a long time and you didn't have any ammo but your love.
Your losses were high but the fight is over. Take some time to "reload" your love and keep on. We all care about you.

Went somewhere this afternoon I haven’t been to in over 50yrs. I was a little kid when there last, a place where very bad things happened. I rarely even think of those events so today I didn’t expect to have such a visceral reaction, nauseous, sweating, my heart was pounding. I even saw a rare medicinal plant, didn’t take a photo because I didn’t want it on my camera. For some reason I didn’t even want the dust from that place on my shoes, strange, I know. I hiked out of that holler a quickly as I could. A walk down memory lane I could have done without… I guess I can wait another 50yrs before returning.

On the lighter side… Also went for a drive around the mountain, or what passes for one here. I used to hunt plants there but that county started spraying herbicide beside roads. Don’t go there very often now.

I did stop at a cousins house who lives at the foot of the mtn. It was good to see him. His house began as a little cabin a great uncle lived in (his father)… My grandparents were allowed to meet up there when they were courting… under the eye of relatives. When I was a teen we used the old cabin as a hunting lodge.

He told me the old road to my great grandfathers house was washed out… would like to have seen it, darn! The county is supposed to fix it this fall, we’ll see.

Except for one hiccup… it was a good day. Catching up on rest, over slept an hour this morning, must need it.

I'm off work today. I don't have much planned today. We're all a bit sad today about what happened at the local hospital. I kept thinking that was where they took me when I got hit by a motorcycle. OK thar was years ago, but I remember a kind nurse who just held my hand and smiled while the others took vitals, did tests and so on. I hope she wasn't there. I have a lab appointment tomorrow and that will be at St Vincent in another town, so I'm thankful I have it at another location.

I went to get a new pet fish. I took my fun driver this time. I named him Trooper.

Morning all! Fun times at work here. lol

@LadyLocust & @UrbanHunter Happy anniversary!

@Spikedriver Happy birthday!

@Bacpacker What were you using to catch crappie? I get them fairly often on small jigs. But then I've caught just about everything on small jigs. 😆 Glad you and dad had a great time!
We mostly were trolling. We used a bunch of stuff. Small flies, small grubs, flies tipped with grubs all in various sizes and colors. Also used several different crankbaits, spinners, spoons. The 2 bass I got was both on a pale grey shallow running crankbaits. Probably runs no more than 2-3' deep.
And yep small jigs and sometimes larger ones too will catch most anything.

@Bacpacker @Chaosdawn My go-to lure for crappie and sunfish is the Roadrunner, a little jig with a spinner attached under the jighead. It works very well when tipped with a piece of nightcrawler an fished around timber or over a drop-off. Works for bass in shallow water too, although I've never caught one over a pound and a half on a Roadrunner...

Went to fill a cart at Aldi, and then our tire pressure alert came on on one tire, so off to the tire shop. Waited while they found that we had a screw in the tire, they repaired it, and back home. My favorite cousin's daughter called and asked if I'd take her and her mom to the chiropractors. She is really suffering from the shingles, and the doc does a laser light therapy. So we did that, and then to Walmart so they could pick up a few things. Got home late, so husband called in dinner at the amish place, and I picked it up. Not sure where the day went.

Power has been out since just before 4pm. I have a Walther in my holster and my tazer/flashlight in my hand. I can hear people outside in the neighborhood but when I go outside no one is there.

Fun!

Mix a bit of mayonnaise with spiniach and feed him two heaping spoonfuls before his regular food. It works on dogs, worth a try.

And pumpkin is for diarrhea, clogs the runny drain!
Actually, the vet told me that canned pumpkin was a good choice since it is easy on the stomach and had lots of fiber. He said to keep offering it to him if he will eat it to help keep things moving.

Finished classes for the week. There's a new 20-year-old who joined us from the on-campus group, whose writing is so good it's depressing. Simple yet eloquent.
Today will be working on my portfolio and some outside chores as its giving heavy rain tmrw. Going to move the hen pen onto a fresh stretch of grass, and some clean up in the garden, deadheading, cutting back etc. Have had to curtail the hens due to avian flu down south. I don't want to keep them in totally until I have to, so just limit them by using a moveable pen and covering with netting.
