taking a short break right now
got the hay yesterday and I did help so now my shoulder hurts....grrrrrr
today we plan on putting plastic on the rest of the barn windows ( broken when we got here) because it is supposed to get really cold after the next leftover tropical storm comes through Friday
plus I do want to finish the last bit of garden. The winter rye already growing in what's done looks good
Oh I did vote yesterday but pointless, our Congress critter for this area gets most of the votes , he didn't need mine....

I've been working on plastic on the barn and outbuilding windows, too. I think Friday starts the cold. Today is 73, windy, humid.
Filled a cart at Aldi. They had butter for just under $3 a lb, limit 6, got for the freezer. Canned french style green beans and creamed corn for 48 cents, but they were out of the green beans. All other prices were high. Twins supposedly were visited by their child services caseworker at school today. Too bad we don't get to know what was said. Got a call from grandson's drug diversion officer today about his near death incident. He self reported to her that he drank a little at an event and a police officer came to the house. That he didn't know drinking was bad, he's just a kid. So his drug diversion was to end next week, she extended it to January (but it's a useless program). Made him an appointment for the state assessment drug/alcohol program. But he will lie through that one. Will be cleaning up a huge mess in the kitchen after the new dishwasher is installed, and doing lots of laundry from the flood.

I woke up this morning to find 3 of my feral rebel chickens out after a make do patch job on the holes in the fence I could find yesterday.
I went and put a welded mesh fence panel against the worse spot and tied it in place and then opened the gate and fed the flock to coax the rebels back in.

It doesn't say much for me as a human being with human level intelligence when I'm having trouble outsmarting 3 chickens.

I am still grateful for whoever upgraded me to supporting member on this sight many months ago but today I paid for the membership to say Thank You to all of you. I assume it will pick up when the other expires but either way I appreciate this forum and the information and entertainment shared by all.

For now, let's all just enjoy the pretty snow.

Defrosted upright freezer today and cleaned out. After feeding this morning I cleaned cat room and feed room in chicken coop. Loaded sacks and household garbage to dump. Picked up range meal and dog food. Stopped by my office and sent request for bailiff and transport for a prisoner to be in court for protective order tomorrow. Came home to start freezer. Finished freezer and got message that protective order is reset and prisoner’s is inTDCJ and no long in county jail .and IT was at the office and did I want my work phone fixed. Back to town. Found baby back ribs in freeze. In oven now

I've been too tired to be able to read stuff. My apologies for skipping over so many pages. I hope everyone is doing well. Heat has been keeping me exhausted. AC is still broken. Can't get AC guy to answer the phone or call back. All I get is voicemail.

Today I unloaded the truck-- which included 5 heavy cases of water, took out all the bags of trash & put in new bags (not all at once bc I got overheated and had to take a break), cleaned my toilet, fed kitties and dogs, cooked for mom, and napped. I'm about to nap again. It's too hot up in here. There is still a lot of trash on the floor that spilled or just got dropped there when the bag was full. My brother has a habit of throwing things on the floor instead of in a trashcan anyway. He gripes about tripping over it, but he doesn't seem to correlate his being a slob with the mess. He blames me.

Finished the two decks at the rental property.

I talked to the new tenant and agreed to let her move some stuff in on Monday prior to signing the lease when she will get the keys.

We did our weekly talk with our money guy and talked about that empty lot behind my place. It may be worth purchasing just to have it under our control. It is about the only level ground that can be found on our hill. We could actuality grow wheat there. Even if we did nothing with it except keep it mowed and pay the taxes it could be sold. So we are still considering our options.

Tomorrow I am the youngest granddaughter's gust at her elementary schools Veterans day event. They feed us lunch song patriotic songs and feature videos of the kids talking about their guests. I fear the only story that Eden will remember is when I was used to cheat weekly testing in boot camp. Hey! I was following orders so there!

Then I intend to fill out an application for some VA and PA state vet benefits that may help now that I have to go on Medicare come February.

Q
Any of you vets reading this that can offer info?

Behave

Had a physical today. Saw a new doc who was very good. No constant typing on the computer while ignoring the patient (me!), plenty of time to discuss things, she was very friendly. Most thorough physical I've had in a while. Got a colonoscopy referral. Hoo boy, can't wait for that. Everything was ship-shape at the physical, which is probably an omen that I'll keel over tomorrow.

I got the shingles shot (the 1st of 2), the pneumococcal shot, and a flu shot. In retrospect, this probably wasn't my most stellar decision to get all three at the same time. I feel a quite rundown right now. Tylenol, Advil and a nap have helped a little.

I have raised a lot of chickens....Some of them are just bound and determined to get out or away from the flock.. I have had one i thought the coyote got and it came back in a week later with some hatchlings. Currently I am missing one of my 13 hens but it was a poor time for the rebel to try to escape or sit a hidden clutch of eggs. Our temps are in the single digits and only rising to the teens or low twenty's all week along with several inches of snow that is blowing and drifting..

If you are going to get a colonoscopy try to research the doctors success or complication rate. My wife who is a RN has had to take care of patients with serious side effects (including death) from a poorly done colonoscopy. Neither of us will have one.....altho we are mindfull of our health and symptoms and already have outlived a lot of people.

Our store is gearing up for the holidays. It's gotten to where I hate working during the holidays because it's not about Christ, it's about what can they get. I usually do my holidays shopping online.

I started saving seed from my mammoth jalapeño. Granted it may not be true to the parent but the plant did so well that it wouldn't hurt to try.

I also started working on my friend Tiffany's baby gift. I'm using Addie Jean to work on a set of reversible baby bibs for her.

My aunt was a professional seamstress, I know a tight stitch when I see it.
Mine look like something a drunk chimp did. LOL
My mom taught me most of what I know about sewing. She worked at a coat factory. She taught me to sew by hand first, then taught me to sew on a 1969 Singer 15 clone that was made in JAYpan.

My mom had one of those. as far as I know its still sewing away somewhere.
I actually prefer sewing on the older machines. My first one that I restored is also a 15 clone, much like what I learned on, but it's a pink 1957 Atlas, by Brother. I love all my old machines. They'll go through denim like a hot knife through butter. Our newest machine is a 22 year old Bernina.

Getting ready for a lot of rain today, all animals are going in the barn tonight. It is supposed to rain a few inches tomorrow

I posted a hay thread, if you use hay for animals I would appreciate input in case you don't see the thread...thanks:)

I was going to clean the house but no point until after the rain ( dogs will not wipe their paws before coming in...bad dogs )

You'd love a vacation here, our carpet industry has dozens of varieties and many rebuilds can be had at around a hundred bucks at the sewing machine shops, some are so powerful they can sew multiple layers of finished carpet! There was this one made in Germany that could sew a pair of quarters together!
