Productive day after all, I cut my hair and it turned out great, I did two loads of laundry (including Mexican blankets and beach towels for the cats), I ate some delicious leftovers (ain't done yet either, lol), and now I'm watching the NHRA Carolina Nationals 2021 (taped program from last year, but I never saw it so it's working for me, lol). There's some pretty good racing going down in this program, I like watching the various classes! :D

Dang, Joey Gladstone was winning on his bike, but during the last matchup, his kill switch came loose (the one tethered to the rider so the bike dies if the rider is ejected) and he wound up losing... bummer. Holy Cow!!! This Snap-On Nitro Funny Car is radical! The engine is so clean you can eat off the goldurned thing, lol... but the Summit car just beat it going heller fast!!!

Now we gots Top Fuel Dragsters, these things are crazy!!! Full-on speed machines... this R&L Carriers rig ain't your grandma's mobility scooter!!! Dang, these dragsters are going 320+ m.p.h., BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Must be a rush accelerating off the line like that!!! A rocket on wheels, basically... well, not like the ones ya see at an air show, THOSE are rockets on wheels, lol, but these dragsters ain't movin' like snails through molasses, that's for danged sure!!! 😒

For those who couldn't care less about racing, haircuts, Mexican blankets, etc., here are some shots of our sunset this evening, I managed to squeeze in the pic-taking during my hectic holiday weekend schedule!!! Can't remember exactly what I was doing at the time, folding laundry, maybe, but I glanced out the nearest window and saw the colors, then dropped what I was doing and grabbed the camera, lol. AZ sunsets are the best, but this NM sunset wasn't bad at all!!! 🙂

That's a neighbor's home over there, I haven't met them yet but they're quiet, so that's a plus, lol... I think they just put on that metal roof, I saw 'em up there a few weeks ago. They have a nice chunk of land over there across the lane, more than my measly 1/2-acre lot, lol. That's alright, this lot has more trees & suits me and the cats perfectly, so we're happy with it! Now I'm back to this cold beer I just opened, it tastes pretty good after a long break in partying today, CHEERS!!! 😎

more visiting today. Little ones sure grow fast in 6 months. They are so funny. The baby is the cutest ever and mostly happy. His brother is smart as a whip. He has the Very Hungry Caterpillar memorized and turns 3 soon. The dog did better today than usual. If I keep her on a loose leash she stays fairly quiet.
No black Friday shopping so far, and certainly not in person for me. Babysat the littles for a bit to give mom and dad a break.

It is going around in our area too @Amish Heart @Acdoctor @Magus Two in-laws in the medical field say they are seeing lots of flu cases.
While off work I was hoping to get some major cleaning done and some sewing projects. I'd rather make stuff than buying stuff at the stores for Christmas this year. Always fun to look online at educational gifts for the littles. It is hard for me to keep up with stuff working full time. I don't know how y'all keep up with everything.

It was raining outside so I stayed inside shopping online and getting some new tools and stuff. Bro had to work even though he's sick (I'm staying away from him so I don't catch it- think it's a cold or something).
Attempted to make fried rice for the first time but didn't have sesame oil, peas, carrots, etc. Used a family size frozen corn but it was too much corn and some broccoli. Added some eggs but I really need to cook more rice to add to it and then add more veggies. Maybe some sauteed mushrooms or something. It still came out tasting good at least.

Yesterday the son and I got the roof on the new chicken coop expansion and last night we installed the tracks on the side by side. Our son is heading home later today. He's going with me to check my traps before he takes off. We always enjoy his visit, but don't like his girlfriend. She reminds me of a circus freak.
I've had a cold of flu for the last few days, bad cough and stuffed up. Change in weather maybe, or the icy water.

I'm going to try to walk the dogs today. Foot still not right and new shoes have not arrived.
Print cookie recipes. DH wants me to make up a bunch of cookie dough rolls so we have them throughout the year. Will print shortbread, chocolate chip, white chocolate chip maple, sugar cookies and maybe oatmeal cookies. I baked the last of my frozen dough a couple of days ago (sugar cookies). It was from 2020 and they were great. Just keep them sealed and frozen.
May make out a few Christmas cards.
Put up Christmas tree.
I'm so glad that I have not made myself so busy that I don't enjoy life, this season!

It's been a long week and it will get longer before it is over. My normal work week is Monday to Friday, 7pm to 3:30am. Because of Thanksgiving this week it was Monday and Tuesday 7 to 3:30, Wednesday 2pm to 11pm, off Thursday, Friday and Saturday 7pm to 3:30 am. Well, after work Tuesday I hardly slept and Wednesday I was already tired as soon as the alarm went off. I figured I got about 4 hours sleep and was mentally hating the day before it began. Driving home from work Wednesday night I could barely keep my eyes open which is very rare for me and not good with the deer migrating across the highway this time of year. Woke up Thursday morning about 10:30am and was exhausted. Grabbed a snack and went back to bed and pretty much stayed there until dinner at 4pm. By 6 I was back in bed and slept until about 9pm when I enjoyed some apple crisp, even though it was cold. I did sleep good last night but I was tired this morning (Friday) when I woke up but had to get up to finish some computer/design work for a neighbor. I called him to tell him it was done and he came over and approved of the work. I told him I had about 5 hours into it and asked for $50 (a bargain price) and he peeled off 3 $20 bills and I told him he had a $10 but he said the $60 was mine. He then casually asked if I had any silver coins, following that up with he didn't want a list he was just curious if I had any. After a brief conversation he reached into his pocket and handed me a 1 ounce silver round and said it was worth about $30. I looked it over and handed it back and he said it was my tip. I was appreciative of the tip and thanked him well. I wasn't too eager to do the work but I will accept any work he has for me in the future.

Tomorrow, (today, Saturday) I need to do a little work on my truck and order some front end parts. At least the truck is parked in the garage and I have a heater on so the garage will be almost comfortable. It's 50* now so that will be good enough until the propane heater warms it up a bit more. (I must be getting old because 50* used to be comfortable).
For now, I guess i should take a quick shower and get to bed. I plan to sleep in as long as possible. I am certain that mean something will happen to wake me up way sooner than acceptable. Sweet dreams to me, good morning to the rest of all ya'all.

Put the nasty pizza rolls out for the raccoons last night, not a crumb left this morning. the rest of the day is watch Saturday morning cartoons, feed and medicate the littlest cat, check the chickens, etc etc. Curl up with a good book, and avoid shopping at all costs :)

Hope everyone that is sick gets to feeling better soon!!
Husband seems to have finally recovered. Son and myself so far ok .
I made something really tasty out of the leftover smashed potatoes from Thanskgiving: Japanese potato crocettes (sp?) : make little pancakes out of them, dip them in a mix of egg, mayo, flour and a little water , then roll in Panko breadcrumbs and fry. None of us like re-heated potatoes so this was great

Today : fried rice with the rest of the turkey

Yesterday we took care of the animals and then played Settlers of Catan. Today we are going to either play that again, or Spades.
And we had some eggnog ( the good kind Even Williams from the liquor store) and I went to bed really early. It's been a physically tiring week and my body was just exhausted.

Woke up to a room full of f*king raccoons, Roscoe brought his girlfriend, that's cool. but now his mother in law is here and she's an aggressive B*tch!
Later on, somehow the possum got in and sat sat there hissing at me until I hit him with the strobe setting on the tac-light and went fake coma on me.
When I luggaged him out by the tail, I decided to empty the radiator and passed a kidney stone I never knew was coming, which is the best way to pass a rock I suppose, no pain, no blood, just "PING" off the tin pan I was using for a target. I can feel a bigger one coming though, time for an olive oil and lemon juice cocktail chased by a a Michelob. this one isn't trying to sneak out. Breakfast, should I decide to make it, will be nuked potatoes smothered in fried eggs with gravy and a ham slice. I guess I'll clean guns today. and continue to raise Ma' Wildcat's offspring. She's a smart old cat, the minute they're weaned, she grabs them up, jumps on the bed and squalls, brings them right to me, makes sure they know I'm their "daddy" and promptly disappears for a month or two. this lovable little hissing ball of spotted fur is already bullying my regular cats like he owns the place and they're five times his size!

It's pouring!!!! Heading out to feed the donkey. Bear peed at 4am during a lull in the rain, he's in the crate until the next lull!! My first cleaning job cancelled because her daughter stayed an extra night instead of driving home an hour in the rain. I'll catch that job tomorrow after I clean the building! So not leaving until about 10:30, most of the heavy rain should be done by then!! May make a turkey and cheese omelet in a bit!!

Gorgeous sunny morning here, so I'm thinking of going riding down at Red Sands OHV Area... the high for today is only slated to be 54* F, but that won't matter at this elevation, and I also have my riding suit. I'd like to meet those folks again if they stayed through the cold weather we just had... they might have packed up and left, but somehow I think the guy I spoke to will still be there with his family, and perhaps his friends too. They didn't strike me as the kind to turn tail and run at the first sign of a hard freeze, and they all had RVs, it wasn't like they were tent camping, lol. So that's definitely an option, as it'd be a great way to spend the day. I gotta check the fuel level in the bike first... that's why I always preferred translucent desert thumper tanks, the kind where you can check your fuel level at a glance. 😒

Otherwise, I'm enjoying a nice easy morning here... did the routine chores, now the cats & I are watching the birds at the feeders & baths. I'm gonna make something GOOD for breakfast today, maybe another loaded Turkey & Swiss sandwich on fresh toasted Italian bread, those sammies are the BOMB! Ah, I LOVE the holidays!!! Plenty of good food, some "catching up" with friends & family, an occasional campfire under the stars... I almost lit a blaze this morning in the stone fire ring in my yard, but I decided against it since I'll probably go riding, I don't like to leave fire rings unattended even after dousing the ashes. If wind rises, ashes may mysteriously return to life! So no campfire in the yard today, but tomorrow morning may present a good opportunity. Should be nice, just like today, but with a higher daily temp.

Sprinkled half the night here. 39 and drying out.

This is third time I got up early and plugged in my loader tractor. New customer for hay and I'm concluding he's not the type that always does what he says. So frustrating! He's cancelled at the last minute twice now and two hours late this morning (if he even shows up).

Normally, I'm more like the hay Nazi: "no hay for you! Come back next year!" But this year has been particularly frustrating. I put a lot of money and went to extra ordinary efforts to make the best barley hay. But come to learn there's a stigma to it and haven't effective at advertising how good what I have is.

Marketing F! Doesn't allow for choosing your customer!

I probably should of just sweated thru turkey butchering day today instead of postponing to next Saturday, but I'm still feeling not good..Went out to do the animal chores and there were 5 toms hellbent on killing each other. So I went in the run and pulled everyone off each other, and they went for it again, so tried again and watched who were the worst offenders. Two slate toms wouldn't leave it alone, so I got a five by five cage readied that is in the milkhouse and picked up the two rowdies and carried them to the milkhouse and put them in. At first, the two resumed fighting with each other, and then stopped. I figured if one kills the other, I'll just bring the dead one in and butcher him. Maybe they stopped because there's no hens in the milkhouse, just two psycho toms. So, time to rest now, then laundry. I need a new head. My face, my nose, my throat, it all hurts.

Going to walk the dog , and I need to stop by the store make some waffles for breakfast this week. I've been lazy n bought eggo's but I need to use what I have.
I enrolled myself in a online course I'm pretty excited about. I ve been watching and learning financial working for years n have pondered doing some on my own but I get hung up on technical stuff. I'm trying to think of ways I can transition eventually out of my current job working in the mill to supplement my retirement when I eventually retire. I'm hoping I can learn something ..we shall see.
So I will start some learning today after and then work on another rug.

Since I "squawked" about the Turkey & Swiss sammie I was gonna make for breakfast, here it is! Hands down, the BEST goldurned Turkey & Swiss sammie I've eaten in living memory, lol. First, I cut a large chunk of Italian bread off the loaf and sliced it in half. I spread mayo on both sides and loaded one side with Swiss Cheese and the other with a thick layer of giblet stuffing (from the last bird) with country gravy, lol. All that went into the toaster oven while I reheated heaps of turkey in the nuke... everything was piping hot and the bread was deliciously warm & crusty when I assembled the sammie! After piling on the turkey, I added spicy brown mustard, sliced onion, lettuce, and a nice layer of cranberry sauce! :D

Flipped the thing together and it stood taller than the Empire State Building, lol. I ain't jokin', the pics don't do it justice! I was hungry too, but I barely managed to wolf down this stacked sammie! Thing could've fed an Ethiopian village for at LEAST a month! I washed down the hot sammie with cold Barq's Root Beer, now I am STYLIN' for my ride later, lol! Just gotta do the dishes, check fuel & grab a hot shower, then I'm gonna have some SE-WIOUS FUN!!! Pics of the bike ride later! Here's the monster sammie on its plate, the natural lighting in the kitchen was deceptive, EVERYTHING about this sammie is BIGGER than it appears in the pics, LOL. Kinda like those warnings you see on car mirrors, lol...

You can't even see the thick layer of giblet stuffing with country gravy UNDER the turkey, but it's THERE, lol! I probably should've slapped a tape measure on this monster sammie, Dagwood Bumstead had NOTHIN' on me when it comes to makin' sammies! I had to wrap this beast in two layers of wax paper just to hold it together as I ate it, and even then it was a gloriously sloppy mess, but OH SO GOOD!!! I went through about a dozen paper towels while macking, but the wax paper held overall and kept things from getting out of hand, lol. I now have a HAPPY TUMMY, and I reckon it'll stay that way for awhile... no need to eat until tonight, but I WILL drink a few ice-cold beers while offroading, lol. CHEERS!!!
