I haven't been able to keep up here very well. I've been on a mission going through things in hopes to get it all pretty tuned in. I didn't do any sorting over the holiday weekend. Had dinner at my folks w/ bro., SIL, and 3 nieces and 2 (of their) boyfriends. Ate too much, talked, laughed, etc. Good stuff.
Have to share a funny: I've been seeing signs for a few weeks "We hang Christmas lights" with a phone number. They are mostly on main throughways so I thought it was either political or a warning for semi-trucks. It dawned on me today that it is a service. There are folks who charge money to go hang up other peoples' lights. 😂 It never occurred to me that someone would pay money to have lights hung on their house! I don't hang lights outside so . . .

I'm preparing to head back to the north side of Chicagoland, Waukegan to be precise. I've got 7 days of work left for the year and then vacation kicks in after the 5th. No more work until after the 1st.

My kid had a minor meltdown today. Seems she was all excited to leave for Texas with her mom before Thanksgiving and she misplaced all her work gear for her new job at McDonald's. So, a half hour before she needed to leave for work we were digging through everything at my place looking for what she couldn't find, because she left with her mom from my place. Her car is at the mechanic shop and we went up there and got her shoes and little hat out of it. Her pants and shirt were in her room. But we couldn't find her apron and she was so upset she started crying. I had to remind her that it's probably not the first time a kid who works at McDonald's couldn't find her apron and it was going to be ok. I hope she has a good night at work. She'll stop by on her way back to her mom's and tell me goodbye before I leave...

Hubby hangs and takes down three people's Christmas lights!!

I did ALL the laundry today. It ran all day long but done. Have to take advantage of the none freezing non raining weather today.
Tomorrow is the dreaded shopping day but we have to go, out of a bunch of stuff. No bananas left, can't have that, husband failed to keep track of the chicken feed and we are almost out of that too. Chickens are on strike, we only got 2 eggs today. I think they need some sunshine

Then I have to start baking for the Christmas market this weekend. I am going to bake cookies in addition to my usual bread. I hope it doesn't rain, or snow.

So we will be very busy this week. I am tired just thinking about it.

Most fast food around

Most fast food around here are so desperate for help just showing up for your shift for two weeks and you become a manager.

Took dad to get his hearing aid worked on so I got out of the house for a nice drive. A beautiful fall day, sunny, relaxing. We went through a little town and saw the old ng armory. Dad started talking about it. We came to that armory in ‘74 after a tornado took out our farm, an f4.

I remember the armory well, they had food!!! Seems the sandwiches were bologna or peanut butter. A different tornado (F5) hit this town later on the same night as ours and killed 23. To get to the Red Cross that day we had to navigate a mile of debris. The red cross and assorted government reps had set up shop in the ng armory.

Anyway, dad spoke about those days, a walk down memory lane. I can’t imagine how stressful it was for him, a wife, kids. Grandparents lived with us too, the old house was a side by side duplex. He had to figure it all out on the fly while working a full time job And build a two family home.

We moved into the new house 8 months later (17rm duplex). The amazing part… dad never had to borrow a dime… we did all the work. All the lumber was from trees we lost in the storm (about 40acres). The sawmill was 2miles down the road. I remember driving there on a tractor to pick up lumber they cut for us.

No plans tonight but tv...

Wow, what a man!! Glad you had that time together today to rekindle some great memories, even though those memories came from a devastating time!! ♥️

I'm up at 1:45am because Bear hacked up some liquid yuck, luckily on the foot of the bed. Not much, and luckily on a lightweight washable quilt. So took it off the bed, took Bear outside for a pee, and put a light blanket on the bed. Hubby never woke up🙄🤔!! I am an extremely light sleeper so it amazes me how anyone can sleep so soundly!! So I'm up seeing what's happing here, off to sleep again soon!!

Pearl, I had to clean up dog puke also....but not the puppy, the old one. I hope he is not sick, but probably just from eating whatever deer pieces parts he found we left behind
Going shopping today. Looked at the weather and want to cry . It is supposed to rain Saturday when we are supposed to have our market. I really hate the weather here right now

I figured a whole day for some electrical work at church. Locate a source for a neutral wire and extend the neutral to a new light timer. Had to do this at two separate locations. Two hours later I'm done and timers are functional. Kind of scary how easy it turned out to do. That give me a free afternoon so...

...Several days ago I was tasked with carrying the Christmas decorations upstairs. Decorations are now in place, hanging, sitting and whatever. Wife is ready for the empty boxes to go back downstairs. I'm told ALL the boxes are stacked in the kitchen waiting on me...and waiting...and waiting. You see after eons of being married I've learned that when the wife says "this is all" it isn't. There is a 99.999999% chance there will be more so I factored in a few more days before carrying the boxes downstairs. I've got this afternoon free so I carried all the boxes in the designated kitchen "all of these go downstairs" area to the basement. We store the boxes under the stairway. To get all the different sized and shaped boxes to fit they must be stacked and placed together like a Rubik's cube. Wife comes home, sees what I'm doing and tells me there are two...no three more boxes in the living room. I scrap the idea of putting the Christmas boxes away this afternoon and move on to the next thing...

Back in classes today after a weekend in London- I'd post pictures but can't find the cable to transfer them. Maybe on the weekend. Had a lovely time- three of mine came with me, we visited several museums and galleries, ate in a favourite mid-range restaurant that's not in Ireland and enjoyed a pretty nice hotel that was a bargain.
Did some grocery shopping yesterday -the usual perishables, cereal and everyday stuff, along with a few Christmas bits for the freezer. Absolutely horrified at what I spent - or more accurately, the prices. The weather is cold, wet and foggy, but nothing new there?! :)

Got up and walked this morning, then came home and filled out return to Amazon for shoes. Sigh Brand new pair of same brand I have bought for the past 18 years, but these must be made with crappy materials and have almost no support in insoles. But I did make it through the walk and walked dogs. Not sure, may wear a pair of sandals with support tomorrow but that won't work through the winter.
Did laundry.
Next, will un-decorate front porch (Fall)
Clean up air fryer to sell.
Bought a 3 # box of pecan pieces that need to be packaged, vacuum sealed and frozen.

Our storms are supposed to come through tonight (of course), getting ready for that. You all ready @Supervisor42 and @zannej ?

I got the tracks installed on the side by side the other day and I'm out test driving it now. Seems to be working fine. I'll drive around a little more then head back to the shop and re-tighten the bolts. Cant get the little snow blower started so I'll work on that today too. They're calling for another 30 inches of snow starting tonight. I need to put the big snow blade on the tractor today too.

Today was Cat Care Tuesday at the shelter, now I am grilling our hamsteaks for our Thanksgiving dinner.

Yeah, the date is off, but this when we are together, she was at the farm over Thanksgiving with her Boyfriend Toby, and his harem :D

Spent all day at the docs....mom's appt, husband's appt, then bring home mom, then a drive thru lunch, then husband's allergy shots. It's getting colder here by the hour...32 degrees at the moment, and a strong wind. Waking back up with some coffee, and I'll get the woodburning stove going before long.
