Just got done running some errands. I went to the post office, the utilities office, and the hardware store. All of these are within 4 blocks of home, but the weather is 34°, 30mph wind gusts, and raining so I drove. And I was still worn down when I got home. Apparently Covid won't let me have my energy back.

When my kid gets back from school I'm going to have her drive me to Walmart. I need a blow dryer so I can finish putting up the clear window insulation barrier in my living room. The weather stripping failed between the upper and lower sashes last summer, probably the last time I opened the window, and I didn't realize it until it got cold and windy. All attempts to fix the weather strip have been utter failures so far. It doesn't help that the window itself is a cheap vinyl piece of crap.

I also want to have my kid drive me to Walmart so I can evaluate the suspension on the car and see if the mechanic got it fixed right or not. And, I'm sure the car is running on fumes so I get to fill the tank for her.

Went with husband to get his allergy shot, then we went and got a double dip cone. Nice treat.
Picked up more turkey feed, and a few gifts. Unloaded the 300 lbs of it at home to the milkhouse. On our porch was a prime rib my mil sent for Christmas. So sweet. And a summer sausage from a farm neighbor. Meat is always good.

Rained all day but I have some clean scooters.

Snowed all day, we got at least a foot. After a day of shoveling and writing documentation for work, my kids took me to see Silent Fright at the theater. I was expecting it to be total garbage and was pleasantly surprised that I got a couple of chuckles out of it. Not sure it was worth $8, but it was nice to turn the brain off for a couple of hours.

Today was the first day I didn't feel tired when I woke up or before heading to work. I am hoping this trend will continue. A new guy started at work, probably about my age and appears willing and able to do work and follow instructions. Probably because he is about my age. I am surprised they hired someone decent, but they probably got lucky because he lives a couple blocks away, walks to work because he lives close, and he came to them because he wants to work not because he needs a paycheck. This is a very good thing in my book, happy to have him on our team.

I see on my monitor that some of you are getting so much snow the snow flakes are falling on this forum. I like it. Kudos to whoever made that happen. I like it.

On the radio tonight I heard a commercial for Relief Factors sleep formula.
https://www.relieffactor.com/products/sleepIt is natural and supposedly works well. I know their pain relief version works great too so I looked it up and the natural ingredients are GABA, Vitamin D3, L-Theanine, and Melatonin. I will be picking up these ingredients at the health food store and giving it a try. I have taken each of them on occasion but not all at once for sleep reasons. I have a few of them already and already took them when I got home from work a bit ago. Hopefully it helps, it definitely can't hurt.

Tomorrow/Today, I might maybe work on organizing a closet in the downstairs hallway. We need to rearrange a few things to make room in the laundry room for the new freezer I ordered today. Frigidaire 20 cubic foot upright intended to hold the side of beef we will be getting next month. Montana beef the neighbors said is delicious. They are getting the other half and asked if we wanted in on the deal. Approximate cost,...... about $3.00 a pound processed and packaged. In a few weeks the processor will call us and ask how we want it cut. Ummm, thick steaks, more thick steaks, lots of 70/30 burger, a couple roasts, and some more thick steaks. We are looking forward to this, and the cheapest anything we can find in the store is about $3.00 a pound on sale so it is a bargain we can't pass up.

Surprised our internet still works since we only had sun for 5 minutes 2 days ago but so far it does. Supposed to rain all day for 2 days again so we will start early to take care of the animals before it does . Take them all out of the barn, clean the barn , fill the hay feeders and the water buckets up , put them all back .

Took son's car to repair shop yesterday and asked to install a new battery cable amongst other stuff) . He tried looking it up and said they don't make them anymore....??? It's a 2004 Buick, not a 1950s thing they don't make anymore....oh well

I wished it would snow instead of rain. At least then it would be cold enough for the barn to freeze and not need so much cleaning and it wouldn't be mud everywhere

Cards have been dropping off here too. I think it’s a combination of the effort and time to sit and write them out coupled with the postage rate. Where I work they used to have vast shelves of boxed cards. I haven’t seen any this year.
We used to send and get cards also but only a few people would send one , none of my relatives in Europe ever did since my mother passed away. She did occasionally . Most of our friends would call and say " sorry didn't have time to do cards this year " or something so I stopped also
I do get some ecards usually

This morning, I will try to walk before the storm hits.
I have 13 pairs of shoes (mostly Easy Spirits) that I will work on cleaning up and photographing to sell on ebay. I'm sure I didn't pay more than $3 for any of them (at thrift stores)
Shred cheese--to cheap to buy pre-shredded.
Some paperwork to fill out for therapy on shoulder.
I would like to write drafts on some of the shoes, but if there is thunder and lightning that will be out.
Business meeting tonight at Church.
Staying home is nice!

3 bucks a pound isn't bad for cut, wrapped and frozen beef. We raise our own beef here. They live on mountain pasture, and the last 90 days we put them in the feedlot and finish them on corn, oats, barley and molasses. Best tasting meat ever. I've had the same customers for years wanting our beef.

It's supposed to snow again today. I've got maintenance to do on the snow blower this morning, then I'll be out blowing snow off the road again. We managed to drive in and out yesterday but there are still places with deep snow on the road. I've got about 3 miles of road to keep open here. I'll use the tractor to clean up around the barn and in front of the house and garage. The temp is a mild 25 degrees this morning.

Another day of puttering around, it's gonna be a nice sunny day but the high will only be 48* F, which kinda limits my choices as far as riding goes. I'll probably just hang out here and see about knocking out some minor home rehab tasks, I don't feel like tackling anything major since my hip has been sore lately... maybe it's the change in the weather. I have a sneaking suspicion that this right hip joint will eventually have to be replaced, as I fell hard on it years ago and probably cracked some part of it. The fall happened while I was remote camping and riding my dirt bike (of that era), and yes, I was drunk at the time, lol. Seems like most of the damage to this 60-year-old body has been self-inflicted... meh, by the time I learn NOT to thrash myself, I'll be DEAD, and the problem will be SOLVED, lol. ;)

Edit: Taking stock of food & beer in the fridge, I reckon this might be a good day to work on my 'Road Safety' thread, which I've been meaning to do for some time. Might even post some pics in my trucking thread, if I can find that thread, lol. We'll see, first I'm gonna make a big ol' beef & egg burrito, I actually made the mix the other day so all I hafta do is slap together the burrito and nuke it... I'm in the mood for a substantial breakfast, and that egg mix has chunks of beef, onion, hot pepper, vine-ripened tomato, etc. I'll throw some sliced cheddar cheese on the tortilla before I dump the mix on top and roll the burrito. Sounds good, I'm already hungry, and that'll keep me powered for the rest of the day, lol. I used beef from that medium-rare roast I cooked the other day, it is delicious! :D

We only had a high in the low 30's and lots of winds, so it was cold taking care of animals today. Started the day with calling the sheriff to come out and pick up some drugs (mushrooms and pot) that I found in grandson's room. Then the emailing to the juvenile drug deterrant officer, and then the same to the child caseworker they have. So fourth officer callout here since August. I hope they do something to or for him. Went into the bigger town for husband's lung CT scan, then out to lunch. His breathing was bad, so I bought it and we ate in the car. Then to Aldi to fill up a cart while husband napped in the truck.

Loaded up the side by side with trees and supplies.

Replaced the dead apple tree to being the apple orchard back to its former count.

Two paw paw trees have a new home near the top of of the new grove going in this year.

Then four chestnut trees near the bottom of the grove. I have to give these chestnuts credit for surviving my ignorance. The Princess had some left over chestnuts that had sprouted. I planted them but being a fool I planted them upside down! They refused to die but have some funky looking roots.

Finished in time to beat sunset. This was the first real trial of the side by side hauling stuff up onto The Ridge. I am starting to get comfortable with it now. I don't feel as guilty purchasing it now. I am only going to be getting older and will help me staying active with developing resources on The Ridge.

Good day for me.

I was just looking online for a Michigan Football Tshirt for my youngest for Christmas. I wasn't seeing anything I liked. Then it hit me, I have silk screen equipment. I will make my own design and give out Michigan Football shirts to everyone for Christmas. Easy peesy, and much more affordable. I don't like to brag but I have to admit, I am smarter than I look.

Cold today. Actually cold all week. I have my truck parked in the garage which is 50* but I am thinking I need to find the small electric heater and put it in the truck an hour before work to warm it up before I leave. I am not a wimp, I am just considerate of my aching joints.

I can't have pre-shredded cheese. They add (toxic) anticaking agents to it that my system reacts pretty strongly to. So, if it's any consolation, you are also making a healthier choice by shredding it yourself 😍

You'd been being stingy with all that snow. At least you shared some today so thank you 😁

We finally got some snow! Probably sounds funny, but I need the snow - actually, I need all the seasons. The first year I went to college, I called my folks the week before I was supposed to go home for Christmas. Finally, my mom asked, "What's wrong? You sound like you're about to cry." I broke and wailed, "They mowed the lawns in the quad today." 😂 I was so stinkin' depressed. It's winter. Winter = snow! We are down in a valley now so don't get the snow like up the mountain. I can't even begin to express what kind of therapy it is. Shoveling, tracking it into the house, messy rigs, all part of the game. It only lasts 'til spring. Then it has to be spring of course.

"They" NEED to do something for your grandson, they should have already!!

Tell me about it. The sheriff was ticked, wrote a juvenile summons paper, told us to make an appt for him to be assessed and then he would have to appear, and assured me we wouldn't have to go unless we wanted to. Then he called me back a few hours later and said he spoke with the detective, and they are thinking about another way to handle it, and for me not to make an assessment appt. This is the third time since Aug that I've had them take drugs out of here. So, I don't know what they've got in store for him, but I hope it's good. Tired of it, and his sis covers for him. So they both came home for 10 minutes after school, said they were driving into the bigger town to Walmart for Christmas sweatshirts, and then on to their Christmas band program (they didn't invite us to go hear them). They called my husband and said their tire was flat in the walmart pkg lot, and what should they do? He told them to get the spare and put it on. Granddaughter said she didn't have a jack. Husband said to go into Walmart and buy one. She said she didn't have the money. Husband said it's because they eat all of their meals out and buy stupid stuff. Then she said she wanted to get a ride back to the farm and use our truck. That was a big no. So...they are not home yet. Talked one of grandson's druggie friends into picking them up, taking them to the Christmas concert that they were playing in, then the 20 miles back to the car, where Walmart changed the tire. Oh well for them. We had take out from the amish place and watched Christmas Chronicles II with little granddaughter. Grandson will notice his stash is gone soon enough. And I smashed the digital scale that was next to it.

Got 5 inches of rain in 24hrs, 4 since noon. For several hrs I had to keep checking the sump pump. Been up and down the hall dozens of times. At one point running the pump every 4 minutes, stayed back there a while. Cleaned the bathroom across the hall.

The rain is finally gone and I’m worn out. Just watching a little tv now.

Despite the freezing weather, my hens are still laying up a storm- must be the extra TLC of warm food. Just gave them fresh bedding and bought firewood up to the back of the garage, closer to the house and lit the fire in the living room, as it has a back boiler to the rads, and also lit the potbelly in the kitchen. Planning on doing a bit of work in there, it makes the place a bit cosier. I'm on my tenth( !!) edit of a portfolio. Hoping to get some presents wrapped also today. The weather is meant to break on the weekend.

After walking this morning, it will be a full day.
First to Piggly Wiggly for local sale.
Then to eye doc to find out why I still don't have glasses. Supposed to have been 2 weeks and it's been over 2 months.
Then Walmart for a few things (read $50 or more)
Next Shoe Store to return shoes I bought last weekend.
Come home and walk dogs.
Pick up routine for at home therapy.
Bake cookies for get together tonight (already made just slice and bake)
Take cookies and myself to Bible Study Christmas party.

Taking the two little girls to their schools, making husband breakfast and doing the animal chores. Then getting cleaned up and going over to visit my favorite cousin. We've missed the last three Sunday dinners with her because of husband not feeling well, so it's been awhile. Husband is still not feeling well, but can do without me for awhile. I'll be back in time to make him lunch.

Hopefully the sheriff's dept puts a scare in him! Until some consequences happen he'll continue down this path!

So be careful what you wish for....I said I would rather have snow than rain, now it is supposed to snow 5 inches right on the day my daughter and sil are supposed to drive here. I almost think they need to stay home but she has some reservations at some resort hotel ( they won it) the night before in a ski area which I am pretty sure she wants to go to. I hope they get there and here ok if they are still doing the trip.

I know why SO many people accept the "climate change" crap! They desperately WANT the weather to be better than it is! I certainly do ( but don't think there is anything humans can do about it)
Think about how much better life on earth would be if humans could control the weather . No floods, no draughts, no blizzards messing up traffic, no hurricanes, moderate temps . But sadly, even if nobody ever burnt a single ounze of fossil fuel would improve things. The weather is still going to suck. Should this have gone in the rant section?

It is currently pouring so bad both dogs in the house flat out refused to go outside this morning. I don't know how they can hold it this long. They haven't gone out since last night

Going to pick up son's car today.
