I've had success with fixing similar cracked plastic leaks using a hot glue gun. But you might wanna test your glue stick first by dipping it in gasoline to see if it is resistant enough? There's different types of glue sticks...
Thanks, I've fixed a few plastic tanks over the years.... this tank is toast. Not repairable the way it broke without glueing the valve into a fixed position.

Beautiful day here in Alamogordo... so nice that I considered taking a ride on the thumper, but it's the first really nice spring-like day we've had that also happens to be a Saturday, so I reckon a whole heap of folks will be heading for the mountains. US-82 going up to Cloudcroft will probably look like rush hour on I-405, lol... well, maybe not QUITE that bad, but I'm sure there'll be some Winnebago Warriors in an RV or two bogging down traffic on the grade. So I'm gonna do yard work instead, and enjoy the fresh air & sunshine that way... I think we're gonna be in the upper 70s today, temp-wise. Perfect weather for the high desert, where humidity is not really a factor, lol. And the weather looks to be even better next week, so that's when I'll go riding... less traffic that way, on the pavement and on the trails, lol.

Just found a universal tank online for the old genny, 7g. Don't know why I never checked there before. $90 and only slight mods needed to the genny frame for bolt holes

My original plan was to cut the bad tank in half to form a clam shell. The bottom half would have bolted back in and act as a pan to hold a replacement tank of any shape.

With the tank I just found I only have to drill 4 bolt holes.

Dog boarding this weekend, so we had a long dog park visit this morning. I have some new blueberry bushes to plant. I need to prep the ground with sphagnum moss to acidify it. I think I might be too early too plant the blueberries, but I can do the prep work for planting the them and others. I also have onion sets to plant. I can prep the raised beds for them.

Went to a Menards in the big city, a 40 min drive or so from us. They had seeds for 11 cents a pk, sale ending tomorrow. Got a bunch of packs, and of course they were out of green beans, tomato, and corn. Don't really need any of them, but at that price, of course I'll get a large bunch. Found some backup wading pools for the geese, bought 5 of them. These are a tad bigger than what they have, and they mate in water, so they should be helpful. They had 3 boxes of the half gallon mason jars that I am always on the lookout for, so bought all they had. They also had 4 gallon water jugs, and picked up a number of them. Dukes mayo to try, have never tried it. And regular mustard at a real good price, and husband eats alot of it. Woke up with both my ears clogged, so started a Z pack. Mom finally remembered she has a phone in her room and called me. Then called me again. Then again.

Dispite wanting to stay up late..last night I was in bed before 6. The day before were me out.
I still dont know if the mill is a go tomorrow but I'll get ready today in the event were a go. I have to try n stay up later since I'll be on nightshift..uggh..
So..walk the dogs, do a few chores n save my energy to stay up late

I'm being worthless this morning. I didn't sleep well last night. My family had a get together at my brother's house, 75 miles away. Something in the meal skyrocketed my blood glucose to over 300 and it was a struggle to get it to come down. I finally did something that Type 1 diabetics call a "rage bolus". That's when your blood glucose stays abnormally high even after repeated attempts to correct it, and you finally get mad and take a ridiculously large dose of insulin. Usually that dose is "stacked" on top of previous correction doses. It's stupid to do it, because it nearly always causes BG to drop low. I ended up staying up until 3AM to make sure I wasn't going to have a low blood glucose event. Luckily everything turned out OK, but I'm not good for much today. I've got laundry to do this afternoon, and packing up for my return to Vegas for work. I fly out of Omaha at 1PM tomorrow...

Just got back from town. Needed another roll of hardware cloth and a new set of wire cutters(good pair grew legs and walked away). I also exchanged one of the dogs collars because the buckle broke yesterday. Normally I wouldn't bother but it was $25 and I've only had it since the middle of December and she's only worn it a few times. Also got a few groceries, mostly convenience stuff for workday breakfasts such as frozen potatoes and pre shredded cheese and couple cans of biscuits. Since I can longer have caffeine I'm useless first thing in the morning so if it aint simple I won't eat anything til lunch and I'll pay for it later.

Going to take a short rest then I'm going to start laundry, was dishes and keep working on the chicken coop. The weather is pretty nice so working outside is actually enjoyable.

Woke up to a bright and clean white world. The wind blew hard enough to wake me a couple of times, but glad that it's gone with the sunrise.

I have three projects in progress. Two are waiting for +45 temperatures and one is waiting for parts deliveries.

Tomorrow I am preparing to attend a phone conference with my neighbor. He's planning three big new pivot installs. He was so impressed with the design of my system incorporating a frequency drive that he asked me to be present in meeting with his vendor to plan his projects.

The old red generator still runs fine but... the gas tank valve cracked and fuel pours out. Very old plastic. I check craigs list and make periodic calls to a couple scrap yards but haven't found a replacement tank yet.

Have you considered, removing the old tank, and strapping an outboard tank in place. They are typically a 6 gallon tank and that should last awhile.

Blessed with a God Wink yesterday. One of my heifers was not with herd. From 7:30-9:30 I drove and walked looking for her. Driving was open areas. Walking was in woods, yaupon and lots of briars. Got my hair hung up in briar and turned to untangle and there she was standing still and looking at me. Eased over and saw calf breathing. Would never have seen her. Found them again this morning. It’s a girl

Aww. I like that story, Txcatlady. Glad your new girl and mama are ok.
Busy day today. Morning chores done, little granddaughter visited with her mom and the boyfriend at a park in the nearby city. So, the drive there, and the two hour visit where we wait there. I packed lunch so we ate, had coffee, and did some reading. They brought her adult sized black bird wings to put on. Finished afternoon chores, got the rabbit cages cleaned, floor mopped, emptied the freeze dryer of pineapple and filled with cottage cheese. Got the things out we'll need for butchering day tomorrow. My neighbor will be over. We'll do 8 roosters and one turkey. I made hamburger soup to have for lunch tomorrow when we take a break.

We drove down to Eureka Springs Arkansas had to pick up some Jeep parts for Jakes Jeep. It’s a 50 minute drive for us and a great place to spend an afternoon. We got out pretty early and beat the tourists.

Congrats, glad the first calf went well. Heifers, well you know. Finding them? I've walked by hidden calves several times in broad daylight and not seen them. They can be sooo hard to find!!! I miss a few things about having cows. Hunting calves isn't one of them. I got about 60acres in timber, all of it steep ground. I finally bought a minibike for hunting calves, easy to maneuver in thick timber and beat walking up hills.

Got my truck out of the front yard, just drove out on dry ground. Took a shovel and filled in the ruts then drove the tractor over them. Won't be able to see it in a month. Got all the comforters and blankets washed yesterday. Put a few away til next fall.

My mother had some sort of panic attack last night & was crying, screaming, and freaking out. I had to calm her down, but I was unable to get to sleep the rest of the night. Checked on her every hour. Felt like garbage this morning. I don't know what I did to offend Montezuma and Billy Mays but they were getting their revenge. Got Mom some soup and napped until afternoon. Worked on my bathroom some more. Got more furring strips cut and put up, cut & put up 1x4s. Was hoping my friend would come over to help but he didn't even read any of my messages today so I'm guessing he was busy.

Took some naproxyn and am waiting for it to kick in and then will see if I can get the energy to cook shepherd's pie.

It was a good day not to have to do anything, wind howling with a little snow and temps about 17F. So I kept the freeze driers humming and did an assortment including chicken, beef, enchilada sause and some blue berries.
I also put a add on craigslist for our studio apartment that is part of our house. I gave plenty of lead time since it is full of stuff and I have been using it for freeze drying since it has a sink and fridge.
We have rented the apt out with fairly consistant results and looking ahead I would like someone around to feed the chickens and cats when we actually get a way for a few days.

Did all the laundry plus cleaned the house, weather has been nice and sunny.
Still waiting on the one sheep, but we need to go shopping tomorrow

I feel like taking a day off and doing something else, but there are no days off , so it would have to be something that only takes half a day or so, but I can't think of anything. In summer I like to go to the lake but it's too cold now.

Congrats on your calf! We only have 34 acres all fences, plus we keep an eye on the pregnant ones and put them in the barn when they are in labor, if we see it. But they are not cows can't drag a cow anywhere...lol
So what do you do about calves if the weather is bad ? Do you try to put it indoors or under some shelter? We have had neighbors here ( the ones that quit being farmers, this was one of the reasons why they quit) that lost a lot of calves because they were at their other jobs and the calf got cold or needed assistance and died.

I thought that looked familiar. We spent 2 weeks in Arkansas on a trip once and that was one place we stayed at ( camping). I like Arkansas but they have a lot of bad weather there. Plus not much mountains, the one we live on is higher than the highest one in the entire State.
So do you live in Arkansas?

Household chores, possible town run... weather is windy & cooler, so I'm not missing anything outside. Having my own little mini-park with trees, birdbaths & feeders, etc., makes up for not going anywhere. Saw some colorful songbirds at one of the three birdbaths this morning, a sign of spring around the corner... cheerful little birds, I always stop to check 'em out for a moment. In a month or two I'll be able to put up my hummingbird feeders, those always bring in the hummers and liven up the yard, lol. The young cats will be mesmerized by the hummers... even the older cats like to watch 'em. Nothing like a hummingbird visit to brighten one's day... I've always regarded hummers as harbingers of good luck!

Note to self: check weather forecast for possible bike run later this week...

Cows and calves do fine by themselves, raining, snowing, lighting, hail doesn't matter. If your neighbor was losing a lot of calves it wasn't the weather... it was something they were doing. I lost 3 calves in 20yrs. 2 during uterine prolapse births. They suffocated in the birth canal, too large to be born. The other died on a warm, sunny spring morning. I've never lost a calf due to the weather.
