Well, the weekend is over. What did I do? I slept in a bit on Friday, probably close to 3 or 4 hours of sleep. Tried to take a nap about 11am but that was worthless so about noon I went to the NAPA to pick up the last spin on filter I needed for the neighbors Kubota tractor. That was as far as i got on that project. Friday night, the night before the kids wedding, my GF's mother and aunt and uncle flew in from Michigan and we brought food to the hotel so everyone could meet each other, GF's family including her daughter the bride to be, the groom, The groom and I got to meet my GF's aunt and uncle for the first time, and the visiting guests got to meet the Pastor and his wife and the locally adopted gramma the kids met through church. After a few hours of mingling the Visitors went to their room we came home.
That is when I asked all the male subjects involved if their clothes were clean and pressed, the general attire for the men was dress pants and a dress shirt and tie, very simple. The groom and his new suit and a white dress shirt. I asked multiple times and after much grumbling from her three sons I got them to corral their clothes even if they there "clean" and I tossed them and mine in a quick wash cycle and as soon as the washer stopped I hung everything on hangers and they were all wrinkle free by morning. GF took her 4 daughters to town for the bride to get her hair done and other errands. I was at home with the 4 young men. I started getting ready in plenty of time and when I put on the new black pants she bought me I was not impressed. When she brought them home she said try them on for waist and length, no problem, but I had just woke up for work and didn't check anything else. Well, they are some sort of modern hipster type design with skinny pant legs and barely stretched over my dress cowboy boots. There is no way I was gonna be seen in public with those pants. At this same time I was asked about an iron to press the write shirt for the groom.?!?!?!. From what i gathered from what he was trying to explain is that is the same shirt his father wore when he got married many years ago and it was sent to him from China for the wedding. Well, every fold looked about as sharp as a piece of note paper folded in half using your finger nail to make the fold sharp and crisp. I had a steamer and and iron and it took 45 minutes to make that shirt look presentable All the while my hipster pants were driving me crazy. As soon as that darn shirt was done I looked for my previously owned black dress pants and couldn't find them, eventually went to storage and grabbed my black suit pants which fit but somehow were a little snug around the waist. We packed up the various items us men had to bring to the church and the groom started his car and placed a few items in the back, I thought we were ready to go and he was planning to put on his suit at the church but NOOOOO, 25 minutes later with his car idling in the street he finally emerged wearing his suit and looking quite well. (I guess brown shoes with a dark blue suit is in style these days?). I did my duty and asked 3 times before we left..... shoes? pants? belt? shirt? jacket? tie? rings? anything else? Surprisingly I got the groom to the church with everything he needed and sort of on time.
The groom called his parents in China and did the face time type video call so they could see the wedding, even if they didn't understand the words. The Pastor is very cool and at one point asked the groom if he wanted to say anything to his parents and there was about 10 minutes of video conversation between him and the bride and the parents, with a little bit of bowing involved. Lot's of pictures, the greeting line, and then down to the multipurpose room for dinner and mingling.

The wedding was at 5pm, we had everything wrapped up and we were headed home by 9pm. Our neighbors stopped at a couple stores after the party ended and drove past as we were unloading the perishables from the cars to the house. I talked to them a bit and realized it was only 9:45pm. I don't think I ever attended a wedding involving anyone who is at least part Italian to end prior to 1am so I invited the neighbors over and we sat and drank and BS'd for several hours.
Today I installed those spin on filters and topped off the hydraulic filters and used the tractor a bit to make sure it worked. Parked it and pulled the dipstick to check the fluid level. Well, those empty spin on filters introduced air into the hydraulic fluid and when i pulled the dipstick it started purging foamy fluid. I quickly replaced the dipstick and waited a few hours, eventually getting the system topped off but by then the visiting family were at the house so we sat around and BS'd for 5 hours so I didn't get to the oil change on the tractor. I will do that tomorrow (today) before work and get that returned to the neighbor.

Aside from that, nothing much happening in my world. =-) I was exhausted and asleep by 8pm and woke up about 1:30am and can't get back to sleep. I really need to quit this overnight work schedule so later this week I will visit the cabinet shop and talk to the owner again. Not so much to pressure him to hire me but to encourage him to keep the business and let him know I would be a reliable employee to help make his management responsibilities a lot easier on him and his family.
We are supposed to have another couple days of decent weather and then this next rain storm hitting California will bring us a couple days of rain/snow. We need the water, I am no where near a flood zone, and in my opinion let it rain or snow and fill up our aquafers and reservoirs.

Already have laundry started.
Will walk, shortly.
I will grill some chicken and burgers, later.
Ready soil and amendments in lick tubs to plant Wednesday.
Enough for a Monday!

we have court this morning.
I'll be praying!
Doctors appointment this morning.
I hope all goes well!

Busy day with the furries.
Fed the neighbor's cat.
Take D to the dog park.
Get Z and M and go to a different dog park.
Get N and go to the first dog park.
Feed the cat.
Continuing to organize spices. I have them scattered in too many places and I need to find them all and consolidate them, and work on my inventory sheets.

Good luck, @Pearl
It is always busier this time of month at DPS.
@Morgan101 i hope things are okay.
I went to my cardiologist recently and everything is great. I’m not on a bunch of medications, just one, a very small dosage. They tried to get me to use a med for lowering cholesterol when mine wasn’t even high, I declined. Talked to him about various vitamins and supplements and he encouraged me to keep up with that.
@ABR were you talking about not going to a cardiologist? Potassium and magnesium are important for heart health, but do not take them together. Also vitamin D. I noticed my incidence of palpitations was significantly lower than before. And a multivitamin helps too.
@Amish Heart sorry it has been so bad.
@Bacpacker hope you didn’t have to go in.
@INresponse skinny pants, cracks me up. Glad that’s over with. Four hours, you were lucky!
Hope you get the position at the cabinet place!

I can only hope. I just pray my A1C isn't higher than my Area Code.
It can always be worse than what it is. That's what I tell myself. Then I'm always pleasantly surprised when I get the results. Last time I expected to be over 6 but it came in at 5.7, worse than before but still pretty good...

I'm sitting on a bus, waiting for the work to get done. Our schedule didn't work out the way the boss planned. We were supposed to load the train yesterday and travel today, but the dispatcher hosed us and we didn't get loaded til this morning. The surfacing gang is finishing up right now and they'll be here shortly to load up on the train. We'll help them and them hopefully get out of here early. I managed to move my flight from tomorrow night to tonight (thank you, Southwest Airlines!) And I should get home a day early. I put my name in on those jobs in the Midwest so hopefully I'll only have to fly to Salt Lake one time. We'll see how it goes...

@Amish Heart good luck at court!
@Morgan101 good luck at the doc, I'm sure you're doing well
@Spikedriver safe travels home
@Pearl good luck with the cars, ugh that's never fun.
@INresponse skinny pants lol -- that's hilarious

Hubs worked last night so I was home alone in the RV. Of course that is when the heater decides to act up. I was up half the night trying to get it to work and the temp in the RV dropped to 52. Finally got it working by 6 am and now I'm up having a slow morning with coffee.
It's a bit more sunny today so hoping to charge the batteries with solar. Had to run the generator this morning so I can use the internet.
I was supposed to go to brunch at this new spot downtown with a good friend from work this morning but her kiddo was up half the night so she couldn't go.
Not sure what I'm going to do now, probably finish taxes and finish submitting the revised (for the umpteeneth time) plans for our culvert/driveway. The Dept of Ecology is being a real PITA.

Already windy today, I'm glad I did that yard work yesterday during the lull. Did household chores, now I'm taking a break and thinking of cleaning that bike later... IF the wind doesn't really kick up, that is. Sharing quality time with the cats, that's always a good thing... it's nice to know I'm still loved, lol. Might putter around a bit if it's too windy to work on the bike.

Boy, I stepped out to retrieve the now-empty trash bin and put it in its usual place, and that breeze out of the north was downright chilly, lol. 🥶

INresponse, I gotta say that as a former skateboarder & technical rock climber, I have NEVER liked skinny pants, tight pants, disco pants, whatever ya wanna call 'em... I gotta have freedom of motion, for starters, so I always look for baggy shorts and pants when I'm buying clothes. Not stupid baggy like the gangbangers wear, but baggy enough to give me that freedom, ya know? I can't wear those tight skinny disco pants, it's not a good look for me, lol...

As we were waiting on our bus for the surfacing gang to finish up, we got word that a train went on the ground a half hour west of us. Seems that the train crew lost it on a steep grade and bailed off the train. The train was intentionally derailed to control the situation. It was a coal manifest so there's no hazmat, luckily. My gang is being held for a while as the head shed decides what to do. We may end up staying a while...

JUST SHARING MY JOY!!!!
They can move out and in with the unsuspecting family. The judge told the DCF officer to make sure all the paperwork is done so the new family can get all the freebies like the EBT and all that, and to make sure they get free 4 yr college, too, since they were originally foster care before we got them. Their jaw dropped when they heard that we never received payment for anything for them.
So I haven't seen them yet. Maybe they went back to finish the last hour of school after lunch. I do anticipate them shoveling out the garbage that they want to move from upstairs, and probably leaving the rest for me. Then we change the locks. Grandson announced to the judge that he doesn't want to get anything for college because he is going to be a tattoo artist and is working on his portfolio. I wish them both all the luck in the world. Just not with us.

ABR, I feel you on that. I haven't had insurance since 2008 when they tripled my premiums, doubled my deductible, and lowered my lifetime payout to less than I'd already paid in-- and they only ever paid for something ONCE the entire time I had insurance-- but I still had to pay my deductible first. The only plans available just aren't worth it. Fortunately, my gp gives a self pay discount. I use Singlecare or GoodRX to get discounts on medicine. Have you ever tried Amitriptyline? It's what my father took for migraines. They run in my family on both sides. Both of my grandmothers had them and my father had them. I used to get them when I was younger. Stress always makes them worse.

Kitties have been fed and its warm enough that they are spread out instead of piled on me-- although, Gravy Jones is on my leg.

Last night my speakers were making static noises. I unplugged them from the computer and bumped the HDMI cable to the monitor. Monitor blinked out. Tightened it but it kept going back out again. Switched to a different brand new cable and it stretched the screen and resolution wouldn't go as high. Decided to just sleep on it. This morning I realized there are two HDMI ports on my monitor. I switched ports and it gave the higher resolution again. Problem solved. Pulling the plug out and putting it back in tighter also fixed the speaker problem.

Picked up curbside order and got mail. Took my brother with me so he could carry the milk and walk up the stairs to the post office-- my knees were not having it today. I'm resting now because I can feel that my body needs recovery time. Brain wouldn't let me rest until I looked up if there is a wrong side out for cement board and was relieved to see that both sides work.

Got a corded staple gun/brad nailer on sale along with some brad nails and staples, also got a hot glue gun and a pack of 75 glue sticks on sale. Either later today or tomorrow I will put those to work to even out the tub walls.

Saturday. So windy it was hard to walk. Big city hospital a gust of wind blew my hat off and a millisecond later my glasses. Heard the glasses hit the parked car in front of me.

Caught my hat couldn’t find my glasses. Looked under the car from all angles, no glasses.

Sunday. Back to the big city hospital to visit sister. Guess what was turn in to the hospital’s “Lost and Found”? My glasses!

Monday. Trip to the eye doctor to straighten the one bend in my glasses. As good as new.

The derailment we are waiting to find out if we have to go work on, is a big one. Apparently it completely destroyed a large swath of track and derailed over 50 cars carrying iron ore, although we had been told it was coal. Search "derailment Kelso California" and you'll get a bunch of hits.

Oh well. Just another day on the railroad as far as I'm concerned. I hate when this stuff happens on the last day of work. If I miss my flight I swear somebody's gonna be walking funny tomorrow...

Just east of Los Angeles. My brother lives just west of that derailment, close to Lancaster CA.
Good luck that sounds terrible.

@Amish Heart - congrats, you definitely deserve the peace and quiet! So glad it went your way in court :)
@Spikedriver - hope you get the good weather in Utah and leave before the snow comes back! I'm only an hour away from SLC if you get in a bind! (if you ever make it there)
@INresponse - I usually figure weddings are for the lady folk and wear whatever I'm told, but I think I'd draw the line at skinny pants as well ;)

Dropped the pup off at a new groomers this morning and they did a great job, he looks great.
Did the rough draft of the taxes and it looks like I'm going to owe about $1k to the feds, but get $400 back from the state so no too bad. Could have been way worse so I'm not too sore about it!

Hopefully they hustle on out of there!! Change the locks immediately!! Hope the unsuspecting new parents get all the enjoyment out of them you did!!😉

I was thinking about cracking skulls, didn't think about cracking up though. And, Thank you.

I was not amused, but glad you enjoy the thought of such a thing. :ghostly:

I think I am just more mature and still able to recognize what looks good and what looks stupid. I love a good pair of snug fitting Wranglers but the legs better fit over my boots with plenty or room to spare. But dress pants or casual pants better have room for everything to move as needed. :ghostly:

I was asked about the tags from the pants so they could be returned, unfortunately they were in Friday nights trash and I have no idea which trash bag that was or if went to the dump already. She claims they were the cheapest she could find locally and were $70. I am still shaking my head. :dunno:
