Nope. Sorry. No drag queens.
So nice I slept in today. No swim lessons or sewing lessons today. Actually, one of the cats learned how to make the wood screen door "knock", so it got me into gear. Then the cat, her six babies, and our two other cats waited to be fed. We have to drive to Menards about 45 minutes away to pick up our three new outside doors, and also screen doors to go with them. We ordered them, and they're all in. Hopefully the guy can get them all installed sometime soon.

After doing a bunch of laundry this morning, I went out back to work on the propane grill. (The Traeger is all good, it was the propane grill that I worked on this time).
Dawn got me an early Father's Day Volcano III camp stove for my two Lodge dutch ovens -- just like the one I bought in the run-up to Y2K (and later sold) LOL! This new one has the capability of using wood, charcoal or propane as the heat source; I already have a 2-burner propane stove on a stand that we use for canning, but I'm planning on using this primarily for DO baking, casseroles, etc.

At about 20 lb. this is not a bug-out device, even though it's collapsible and comes in a neat carrying case; we're going to be relying on this at our home in the event of a long-term power failure. A couple of 20-pound bags of charcoal, when used correctly, can keep a family of two in cooked food for a couple of months, and -- if push comes to shove -- you can make your own charcoal by burning wood in a low-oxygen environment.

These Volcanoes take a dutch oven (the ones with the three legs and the rimmed lids)or just a large and deep skillet up to 12 inches in diameter. Volcano makes a line of the dutch ovens, but we use Lodge for all of our cast-iron cookware. Pretty spendy, as well as awfully heavy, but cast iron lasts forever and has incredible thermal mass, which means once it gets hot, it stays hot.

If you don't have/haven't used either cast iron cookware or a Volcano, I'd recommend them highly!

4 day weekend
3 rd load in washer
Animals fed
Dishes washed and got hair brushed
Bought 2 bushels pinto beans shelled yesterday
Soaked overnight to pull some starch out
Starting to can pinto beans
Quarts first and maybe second for pints
Mow yard
Pick more pinto beans in garden
Too windy to spray weed killer

Today was a busy day! I took down all the ceiling fans and gave them a thorough cleaning. Afterward, I made sure to feed all the animals. My wife went out and brought five more speckle hens to add to our growing brood. We spent the rest of the day preparing a room for my daughter, who will be coming to visit from Washington, DC. It's always such a joy to have her with us!

Already did the usual watering and household chores, plus a check ride on the bike... trying to work up the motivation to get started on this kitchen painting project. I have to do some caulking, so maybe I'll just do that today, since I wanna start rolling right away when I get around to rolling the ceiling and walls. I do need to get started on this project, I want it done before the end of the month. The check ride on the bike was just to see how the additive is doing: bike works great in lower gears, but it still stutters with full demand on the throttle in higher gears. Meh, the kitchen project comes first, I'm on a mission to finish all interior painting... the bike project will have to wait. Just the way it goes... 😒

Was up super late with insomnia again so slept later than normal. I did get the last 3 chicks moved into a wire crate in the run so the others can get used to them. Now I just need to figure out how to keep them separate in the coop at night. Hopefully they can integrate easily and soon.

Nope. Sorry Magus.
Have a gathering for the guys.
I've been thinking about getting Wingnut and Frodo on a live voice chat, getting drunk with them, and charging admission to be donated to the forums. it'd have to be the philosophical/comedy event of the age!
Be like:
George Carlin/Steve Martin and Robin Williams all came back to life mad at the government and got high.

Looked at another house today, this one is actually pretty nice. In the boomtown of Harveysburg, Ohio. Population 554 and 6 miles from Green Acres the farm.

More work of the garden cages. One fold is 1/2" off so I will have to fix that. We should be collecting strawberries the we try to freeze dry along with orange slices this evening. The Princess want to make mistakes with stuff we grew before moving on to steaks and such.

I had a cardiologist app't then I went to the store with my youngest. I got one of those electric carts , 😆completely against both of my physical therapist's advice lol. They pictured me running in to things because of my left/right disconnect in my head. I did good, I hit nothing lol.

First time being out and about like that in a month. It was nice because I grabbed things I will eat that others around me won't. I scored a large fistful of fresh Michigan asparagus, a rutabaga fresh Brussels sprouts

I'm having a relaxing day, but getting a little done here and there. I woke early at 5 til 5 to my CGM alarm going off. Took care of that and fell back to sleep, didn't get up til 10. I wanted to be up sooner but it's my days off, so why not sleep in, right? I did some long overdue cleaning, put my daughter's dance pictures in frames and hung them, went to the utility office and paid the bill, went to the store, and then the shop called and said they got the hole in the Corolla's tire fixed so I ran up there to pick it up and pay. I'm home, cleaning a little more. I'm debating whether to go fishing or to go for a bike ride on the Trestle Trail this evening. Or maybe just stay home and read. My church has also opened up an ice cream shop in their coffee shop, just on Friday and Saturday nights. It's top notch, Ashby's ice cream and as a diabetic it's not the best thing for me, but I can get away with it. Maybe I'll run up there...😉

After errands, I went through THE file box and made a new box for shredding day when the county has it in our town. Picked strawberries. Ate strawberries. Also took Honeybear’s fleece out of the box and formulated a plan for processing it. Separating into the three main colors of her fleece—black, gray, and blonde. Seven and a quarter pounds of fun await me.

@Patchouli I have a regular coop with a run for my layers. I need a separate space for the meat birds. I have an old hay ring that is missing the top rail so it is 2ish feet tall. I'm thinking about wrapping it in hardware cloth/wire mesh and putting a roof/cover on it. It should be pretty easy to move every 5-7 days to give them fresh area. If I put them in the horse pasture next to the houses the dogs should alert me to any predators. I'll probably add a bar across the top to hang the waterer and feeder from as well.
Tip: get an old set of skis from a thrift shop (cheapest) and adhere them under the two “sides of the pen. Then drill a hole in the front end of each ski and thread a rope into them. Then you can pull it around easier without having to lift it and chance of birds escaping. 🐓

Snickerdoodles go well with coffee ☕😍. Sounds like a hoot!
Was awake part of the night 🤨. Today still managed to get quite a bit done. Made mud in the bathtub from garden feet so must have been an okay day.
Hubby’s birthday 🥳
Clean feet for his b-day!! Hope your hubby had a great day!!

So, as husband says, between a cripple (him) and a right legged gimp (me), we did get alot accomplished today. Got husband's flat tire of his mega scooter taken down to be repaired, then off to Wichita to pick up all the doors. Did manage to fit them all in the back of the truck...3 wood ones and 3 screen ones. Came back home, grabbed the fixed tire, stopped at a neighbors to ask for help unloading doors. He came by and got them all done, ready for the workman now, when he has time. Our tv up and died, so I moved that out, and our bedroom one into the main room, and husband wheeled over to it and got it all hooked up. Then the other neighbors came by after supper and relieved us of five kittens, and put the tire back on the mega scooter. Life is good.

@ABR had a thought... if your hay ring is trash it should be easy to bend. I'd 'square' it up a little. bend 4 corners and make a it rectangle shape instead of round. It'll be easier to put a roof on it, round roofs are a pain to construct. Easier to put skids under it also. I did something similar once, used a tractor and the side of a barn to shape a hay ring.

Another day of nothing. Needed to go to town but didn't have the energy. Watching more tv tonight.
