I think they are gold plated nowadays, I called to price one and they are 200 plus dollars......................say what!!
Yes, I just bought a new one recently, almost $200.

Car was at home, so I drove another vehicle to pick up new battery, then drove battery home and replaced it. Then used the same vehicle I drove earlier to return it, but left the receipt at home, thought I had it, but I didn't. I asked if I needed the receipt, since they have all my purchases on the computer. Yes, I needed the receipt, but the clerk would be happy to take the battery and NOT refund me the core charge of around $22. I told him I would go home and get the receipt. When I returned with the receipt, he looked less than happy about it. He was a horses behind about the whole thing. I think he thought he would take the battery and deposit the $ in his own pocket. What a jerk!

Finally our fence is completed. The guy who installed it was meticulous in his work, skipping no detail. Monday we go to adopt our new dog. They wouldn’t let us adopt without a fence. I guess that’s understandable since our little Yorkie got killed in the road last month. But they held the dog for us while our fence was being built.

Fun facts about wasp genocide:
Merely the fumes of gasoline kill them.
They can smell fear, they read it as a readiness to attack.
Wasp larvae are the best fish bait on the planet! Preserve some in olive oil for next year.
A blast from a Co2 extinguisher not only freezes them but stuns them, giving you time to vacuum them up and put them in a jar of olive oil for bait!

Weed wacked waist high weeds over a field line. Have been putting it off for a few weeks and paid the price. Had storm last night, power flickered.AC started blowing hot air. Turned AC unit off and dug out little window unit. Turned main unit back on just to see. Started working . GOD IS GOOD. Heat index of 105 plus today.

I prefer napalm :p

Went to the market, did so so , not as many people as usual. I even came home with 2 breads. High demand for our goat milk, when I had 2 milk goats nobody wanted it, now everyone wants it....
It has not really rained today, just sprinkled a little so that's good
Making salad out of the one we didn't sell
It was still fun, we met some new and interesting people there today

Hope everyone has a good weekend :)

I really hate raccoons. They have caused so much damage here. Three mornings in a row the week I was awakened at 4:00 am by a horrendous noise, the coons were dragging the rodent bait box across the gravel next to the patio right under the bedroom window. First night I leaned out the window and yelled and the stupid thing just stood up and looked at me like "what, I'm busy here!". Next time it took several shots from the pellet gun to drive them off. Third time it was the revolver, but I missed. And I had put a big heavy metal weight on top of the box. They simply grabbed it and pulled it off.
Today my Husband's friends came up from Ohio for the second trip to take all of his things that I can't use. Things like a motor stand, gunsmithing parts and tools, etc. They're kind enough to take on sorting and selling all of it for me. Brought me some money from what they've sold after the first trip. It's all very sad, but it has to be done. There's no point in it all just sitting in the shop. And less for me to tackle when I move.
Put an offer on a house yesterday. They have multiple offers so I don't know if I have any chance or not, just waiting to see what happens.
Upper 80s and humid, just can't take that kind of weather anymore so I finally turned on the air conditioner. Edison stock owners love me. But maybe with it running and the windows closed I can sleep through any further raccoon rampages.

Raccoons are quite strong, and they're fierce fighters... I once read that they are related to wolverines & bears, which explains their strength & fierceness. I actually like raccoons, since they're very smart, but I realize they can be big-time pests... and they are dangerous to small domestic animals & livestock. :(

Chores and errands once I got up until about 4pm
Then went to my friend ham radio club field day event . Had a bunch of equipment set up and me and another new guy learned a few things and got our feet wet with the radios a bit. Listened and watched more than anything..but it was fun.
Came home about 830 to put up chickens n turkeys.
Then worked in the garden until I couldnt see.
Then made dog food..did the dishes and a few more chores.
Got caught up a tiny bit on news but I'm beat..
Time for bed..

I spent most of the day either in the bathroom or in bed. Something I ate didn't agree with my guts. I was going to clean but I didn't want to bend or lift anything heavy. I managed to get to the store to grab a few grocery items and put gas in the truck.
Read this article that says Metformin may help reduce or prevent long covid. A Common Diabetes Drug May Prevent Long COVID in Some People

Just waking up from a nap but will probably go back to sleep again and try to wake up in the morning.

Middle of the night sitting on the throne wondering if the bladder was lying when I had a ”a ha” moment. I know why the air conditioning isn’t cooling! Dumb me I still had left the furnace humidifier on from the last heating season. A/C is taking the moisture out of the air and the humidifier is putting it right back in. After cooperation from the bladder I went downstairs and turned of the humidifie.

Now that I’m wide awake checking the forums to see what’s new.

We found one small suspect spot, and I saw a small tuft of hair there. So reinforced that. Difficult because the run is massive. It is way too hot out there, spent an hour out, and will give it up till after dinner. Then I'll go look around some more till dark.

I truly hate raccoons, as much as I hate cockroaches . They are evil varmints if you ask me...
We figured it out by putting a wildlife camera outside the chicken coop over night.. Caught the sucker on it the first night, killed it the second and covered the hole

We have been attacked by coons in Florida ( canoe tipped over in Ocala forest and they tried to get our stuff. ) A friend I worked with in Florida got attacked by one in her own yard mowing the grass and needed 10 stitches in her arm and rabies shots

I made peace with the "King coon" here. I got him drunk and started giving them the first choice of the stuff the cats won't eat, they never broke in again! BTW, if you want no-fail bait most other animals won't touch, they will literally KILL each other over a jar of out-of-date Skippy!

A couple who own a ranch up the road were going out to feed one morning. Their Border Collie was with them as always. The dog took off chasing a coon, the coon went in a stock tank (pond). The dog swam out after it. The raccoon jumped on the dog's face and drowned the dog. The man fired a warning shot, but couldn't shoot the coon until it was too late! ☹️

Going to clean my building shortly! Will do some inventory in the prepping room later when it's really hot outside. Probably clean the bathrooms and unload the dishwasher. I usually do dishes by hand, but I try to run the d/w every couple to three weeks! Need to get my cleaning supplies ready for the week. Pool time later when the heat gets extreme.
