Happy days!! We got another 1/4" of rain. Unfortunately we also got a good bit of hail with the rain and that did not do the garden any good.
Sounds like your in New Mexico....@hiwall doing rain dances and no hail dances for a fellow in drought prepper :lil guy: . We had 7th of the month we had .8 mm and we are under half of the rainfall to date this year as we were last year. We can see the red dirt clouds in bands blowing over the mountains it is that dry and needless to say I cannot describe the dust we are getting inside as well as outside the home. All we can do is use our saved grey water for watering down the house lawns with to keep the dust down somewhat.
It started raining again and now we are up to 9/10". Almost a whole inch of rain in one day!Happy days!! We got another 1/4" of rain. Unfortunately we also got a good bit of hail with the rain and that did not do the garden any good.
Our place "up there" is under a flash flood advisory. Our house isn't 8n a runoff area so I'm not worried about it but the roads will be a mess.It started raining again and now we are up to 9/10". Almost a whole inch of rain in one day!
This is a first...renter said shower was leaking, water going out onto floor......hubby went to check it out and see if there was a crack, or loose fitting...DUH...YOU LEAVE THE SHOWER CURTAIN OUT OF THE SHOWER SO THE WATER RUNS DOWN ONTO THE FLOOR.....what is wrong with young people that they cannot reason......
Last year, at my house, we had those things all over our hearth around our wood stove in the living room. Never saw them before, not in all the years we lived there. They are looking for salt? I don't we had any as we don't use salt for ice and they don't use salt on our roads either. This week brown/black moths started showing up on my front porch in numbers.
The problem comes when they get into my house from opening the door.
Quora says moths could be seeking salt...
"Your porch may have some salt in it. Maybe it came off your shoes. Maybe from the salt that you spread to melt ice. Maybe from food that you spilled. However, I will bet that something on your porch is salty. Maybe they are going after you for salt! Perspiration contains salt. A hungry moth may smell your perspiration and go after it. If so, they would land on you a great deal. Watch for it!"
This make sense... the containers of saltwater that i bring in and out of the house from my saltwater aquarium sometimes are heavy and spill a tiny bit so this is probably the reason for the moths.
I've counted over thirty moths near my front door tonight, but now that i know it's the salt, i'm going to be more careful.
This morning I had to do my laundry, which I am still getting used to, after having lived for many years having to do it by hand. I must admit, I feel spoiled by something simple as doing my laundry or taking a shower. The laundry room is in the basement of my apartment complex and it is really nice. I put the clothes in the washer and go back to my apartment. Go back to put it in the dryer and do the same. You would think in a big complex like this it would be crowded, but at the most, there might be two others in there at the same time. Today, just me. Then came back and cleaned Rabbit's cage and had a good low carb breakfast. I eat later than most people, since I enjoy my coffee time without food or cooking Now I think I will do some filing and then write a new blog post. I hope everyone has a nice day.
Other than salt mentioned in the article, i don't ready know what could be drawing these moths in numbers. The front porch lighting is off because moths generally circle artificial lights and i'm trying to keep them out of my house. I'm also trying not to use pesticides but i may not have no choice.Last year, at my house, we had those things all over our hearth around our wood stove in the living room. Well from what you mentioned here about the artificial lights that clued me into why they started coming into my house. My husband had put up a string of blue DC lights in the corner behind the wood stove. They come on automatically at dusk and go off in the morning when light comes in. And that must have drawn them. Before that we hardly had any lights at all. I just kept killing them. And we always had a few after that.Other than salt mentioned in the article, i don't ready know what could be drawing these moths in numbers. How did you rid them Katlupe? thanks.

today we are going to check on parents and then go to my daughters and take the great grandsons into town to finish scool clothes and supplies.then it's back home and work on getting maters, okra and peppers prepped and ready to can up tomorrow and also some house cleaning.
Today we started off the day with each of us stain removing clothing, putting on a load of washing and hanging it on the clothes line and then we both got up to watering half of the back lawn with the saved grey water from our showers and washing machine.
We then set about deep cleaning both the lounge room and bedroom and they now sparkle after having all the furniture pulled away from the walls and damp dusted, walls washed, blinds damp dusted, windows cleaned and carpets vacuumed. It smells so much fresher in here now and not so dusty or musty from the slow combustion fireplace going.
Just got the kitchen to deep clean tomorrow and we are done and ready for our inspection .
