Got more hay. Had some round large bales delivered and they look nice. I wished we had room to store more under the roof. So now we are up to 17 round bales and 200 squares. Not quite enough but getting there

We have all these buildings but every available roof space is used. We have 4 vehicles plus the tractor and attachments under a large shed roof, plus the Ranger and a ATV. Plus the hay bales under the overhang of a horse barn we don't even use. I wished we could bust out a part of the wall to put the hay inside but they are structural so we can't.
A tub of yogurt from the store got left out overnight and I just had a smoothie made with it. Hope I don't get sick. I figured it's fermented milk anyways a night out of the fridge should be ok? It looked smelled and tasted fine. If you don't hear from me ever again I died from food poisoning...

Oh , I canned more tomatoes today also. Just tomatoes, not sauce.

Walked first, this morning.
Went to lawyer's for wills.
Walked dogs.
Still need to cut carrots for dog treats- poor pups. LOL
Make tacos for dinner.
Check in my insurance book to see how much I will have to pay for Lithotripsy. I don't like surprises!
Bible study this evening.
You might already know
If you have to pay a percentage oth procedure
Let’s say 20%
And the hospital asked for the 20% upfront
Refuse that request and wait till your insurance pays for the 80%
The insurance will not pay them what they ask
Example. Hosp says test us $1000

Insurance only pas them $400
You owe $100.

I spent a couple hours on the phone with two different techs from the inverter/auto start manufacturer. He had me reprogram the entire system. Everything looks like it should work, but won't know until morning. If the generator doesn't start automatically I'll have to buy a new control box.
The wife finally shamed me in to making a doctor's appointment. Two appointments actually. One for a bone doctor to see if my hips and knees need to be replaced. The other appointment is for a stomach specialist. I've been having problems getting sick and not feeling well ever since I had surgery for a burst appendix.

Hope your appointments go well. I have no idea about the hip/knee issues, but don’t forget to tell the other doc you set your stomach lining on fire 🔥 with that hot sauce of yours 🫣

Is it broke?

Oops - sorry. I don't even know you, but yep - I'm that one 😂
Was "broke". My landlord (rich guy) gave it to me (his serf) because it stopped running several years ago. Apparently no one tried to fix it. I put new plugs in it, tightened a few things up, changed oil and filter, changed air filter, changed fuel filter and added a shut-off. Vacuum hose to the fuel pump was cracked and I fixed that. Cranked right up. Drove it around the yard. Shut it off and wouldn't start. Starter solenoid is going out. Also the deck will need to be completely rebuilt + new blades. But, it was free, so I give no appy polly loggies to thee or thine for that.

Last night I was worried that my oldest cat hadn't been in all day & I didn't see him on or near the shed. Went out with a flashlight looking for him. He came from the barn area and I brought him inside. He had wood chips & cobwebs all over his fur. Brushed him & became his best friend. He followed me around and slept on me the rest of the night and most of the day. He's currently on a plastic drawer box thing I put on my night stand.
My plans for the day were shot. Radiologist (I think that is the job title) called in sick & canceled Mom's appointment so we ended up staying home.
Had a scare with my cow bc I thought she was dead, but I think she was either sleeping or had passed out. She seemed confused when I woke her up. She normally sits and curls her head around when she sleeps but she was flat on her side and looked bloated.
It was 106 out so I got overheated & had to go back in & racked out. Brother wanted me to go to the store with him, but I was too groggy so he actually went by himself. Replaced one of the things of mine that he'd eaten.
Cracked open a new bag of cat food for the kitties.
Will see if we can do the samsclub run tomorrow.

Painting my hall. Started yesterday in between other jobs. Ended up down a rabbit hole, washing ceiling etc- everything gets so grubby because of the fireplaces. Also have a lot of scrapping to do; I was messy with white paint last time and didn't notice until I changed colour!

Lithotripsy is supposed to cost $7000. My co-pay is $275. Doc wants to do several separate operations. We will see. I don't think we will do several.

Will do it in one operation
Tell him he had better bust ‘‘em all the first time or he can pay for the second operation

Oldest PNW daughter came in yesterday. So we're just missing the Texas daughter. OK nephew and family coming in today. Our kids are going in to Wichita to shop for our anniversary party food. Amish street games and cookout in town tonight
Hope the weather is nice!

It's raining. I guess we won't be getting any hay today
The neighbor's beautiful alfalfa hay got rained on yet again. They cut it days ago, should have baled it by now but it's sitting there in the field getting poured on. We won't be buying any of that
One of my jars of tomatoes I canned didn't seal so now I have a jar of sauce and a jar of tomatoes to use up. I guess I will make something Italian for lunch.
Not doing much else . We were going to get that hay today.

Going up to get a couple hundred feet of conduit, chicken feed and other miscellaneous parts and pieces. Got the auto start working on the back up generator yesterday. No more getting up a 3am to manually start the generator. I've got it programed to automatically start whenever the battery bank drops to 23.8 volts.
I'm going to put in the last of the fence posts today for the new chicken run. Then I just have one new gate to build and run 300 feet of wire.

I'm already set for this one. I will see if Dr. Boyd takes my supplement and if he does, that is who I will use for the rest. Thank you for the info! I will probably see him after the first of the year.

You have the option to change your mind up to the time they put you to sleep

Good luck with your procedure I will say a. Few words to the Big Guy for you

You could try hydrangea aka gravel root. If you have a herbal medicine shop close by, ask for hydrangea tincture, stone breaker, gravel root... it dissolves kidney stones. A bottle in only $15.

https://www.homesteadingforum.org/threads/gravel-root-hydrangea.13292/
The stone he is targeting is 8mm. I will let them break that one. The others are smaller and all in the kidneys, so I will try other methods before surgery again. I had forgotten about gravel root. Thanks!

L8tr today I'm going up on the mtn to play music. Of course there's extreme heat warnings. Instead of a tent I found a comfy place to stay tonight w/air conditioning! Best part, it's free, just luv bluegrass pickers, we look out for each other.

I was asked to come early, invited to play music tonight at some place i've never heard of, think it's a bar. Said no, don't like playing bars but the real reason... don't think I have the energy to play a show tonight then play all day Saturday. I badly over did it in May, don't want a repeat.

I'll post again when i get home...

Oh, supposed to harvest some cross vine Saturday morning. A guy said he has some growing by his shop, should be easy. Take less than 5 min to pull down a big bundle. I'll make tincture and have some for making tea (makes great tea).

Sometimes I'm very silly. Haven't even begun moving into the new house yet, but I'm headed out in a few to drive two hours to pick up a dresser I found on fb marketplace. Because I have to gut and redo the main bathroom. And I was looking for ideas when I got tired of packing as sat noodling on the internet, and realized how stupid expensive bathroom vanities are. Over 1,000 bucks for flimsy particle board and some staples to hold it together! Then I saw ideas about using an old dresser....and well here I go. But from my measurements this fully wooden, well built dresser (for $80) will be a perfect fit. I can put a vessel sink on the top of it for another $80 or so plus the cost of the faucet and a few plumbing parts. No idea where I'm going to store it when I get it here....
Amish enjoy the family time.
Peanut try to stay cool and enjoy the music.
Michael don't forget to pick up some Vernors while you're here, it's the must have to get through cold and flu season.

I got several sections of metal shelving this morning, a friend was moving and couldn’t take them with him. I decided today was the day to tackle our basement, it’s one of those places we put things you know out of sight out of mind. I’ve made good progress but am starting to wear down. I guess this might be a 2 day project. I’m going try not to let it become a mess again.

I wish I had a basement. Everyone has basements in Illinois. Basements are rare in Oklahoma.

Yogurt is pretty resilient. It is a fermented food and doesn’t go bad easily.
Still trying to get an appt. with a hematologist. At least one finally agreed to call me back. Been trying since July 19.
I hope the ailment isn’t serious. Hematologist are not easy to find. Many are oncologists dealing with blood disorders.

Spent the day tending the work computer, I'm off today but there are some last minute details the just can't wait.

I have been working in the bathroom, I have a small battery bank and an inverter in there for emergencies, I had been in a rush when I installed everything and was kind of sloppy. It worked and all but took up too much room, I rearranged the inverter location and made a shelf over the battery bank, it gave me a nice shelf where I can store more towels. It also places the inverter high enough that the wife can plug in the oxygen machine and turn it on without bending over too much. The nice thing is I was able to do it all using scraps saved from the kitchen remodel in 2020.

I am making a similar arrangement down stairs, but there I have to double stack the batteries as I only have a 16X18" space for the batteries. I have been moving all my freezers and refrigerators down stairs onto 1 circuit and using a kill-o-watt meter to observe the draw. When I am done I hope to have all those and the sump pump on a single circuit with an automatic transfer switch, the goal is to be able to use the solar power's battery array to power everything most of the time and have a separate emergency backup on standby/power saver mode.

The solar worked so well at powering the small AC unit this summer I want to be able to keep using the available solar power on things that run all year long. With the cost of Grid Electricity I want to move things that run constantly off to solar.

Well, I didn't actually make the appointments yet. Just told her I did.
As far as pepper sauce goes, everyone knows that hot peppers are good for ones system.

A slow day. Gave myself a haircut, ordered a flagpole for the new house, did a bit of laundry. Printed off the manuals for all the appliances, Garage opener and thermostat. Sunday we will go up to Clarksville and cut the grass, level the fridge and turn on the water to it, and snug the tub diverter spouts so they divert.

One of the biggest challenges in our new house was trying to figure out which circuit breaker went to which outlet or room. Lots of trial and error.

There is only 1 unlabeled breaker, the last family tracked em all down but that one. Someday I will make a diagram and put the tracer on each and every outlet to find the renegade :)

There are times the "as built" diagram comes in handy when things go awry :)
