@Pearl fireworks quieted down here quickly last night. Dog was a mess. Watched most of Return of the King, turned up pretty loud for us, which helped. Dog laid down in front of the tv finally. ?
Sorry you are surrounded by idiots.
Waiting, should be here within a very short time. 👶
@sonya123 do the sheep care that it is cold? Glad it’s not raining.
@snappy1 you’re so busy every day.
@UrbanHunter my kitchen is a mess right now.
@dademoss i think cinnamon rolls are on my list for breakfast too.
@Peanut one of my sons installed one of those closet organizer things for us in one of the bedroom closets. Sure helped.

We made it back home in one day!
DW decided to shoot the moon and drive all the way back in one trip.
Trust me, when you get older, sitting in a car seat for 13 hours straight is not the same as when you are young. gaah
We are in Oklahoma and all my kids and grandkids are in Illinois. It’s a good (?) 10 hour drive. Longer if you stop. We have decided a two hour flight is going to be the new mode of transportation.

Canned up some pork bone broth I made yesterday and roasted bison bones for a few hours this morning. They are in the pressure cookers now for the rest of the day, I’ll can that up tomorrow after it’s had a chance for the fat to solidify for easier removal, one good thing about having an inversion that keeps the outside temps pretty low so I don’t have to figure out how to make that much room in the fridge. I also pulled the last of the leeks from the garden and put them in a tub down in the basement. They should last a couple of months before they have to be used or processed. Just stopped watching the Hawkeyes getting soundly thumped by Tennessee. My husband was again disappointed by his home team. And finally I’m reading a book, drinking some coffee, and trying to not annoy the cat laying on my lap at the moment!

Made banana walnut bread today. I can't wait to taste this one!

Yee-haw! That banana bread is good! It's not quite as sweet as commercial loaves (which is a good thing IMHO). This loaf came out so nice.

I wonder just how much sugar a commercial loaf of this stuff has in it to be so cloyingly sweet? I made this first loaf of banana bread strictly by the recipe, even though I thought it was excessive in the "bad" ingredients (sugar and butter). Figured I'd try the real recipe before I started messing with altering it. This loaf was 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of sugar! And 1 stick of butter! 😲 Yikes! This will be a very rare treat, that's for sure. But indeed - it is quite tasty! I've never made banana bread before and I learned that it is not "dough" that it's made of. Rather, it's "batter". It's more like a cake than a loaf of bread I think. Eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, bananas and walnuts make up the rest of the tasty ingredients (plus salt, baking powder and baking soda).

I will say - this new bread maker I just bought does one heck of a job. I am quite impressed with it.

Still working on photos- ran out of the little corners that hold the pix in place so will get more tomorrow. Changed bedding and ironed some shirts. We went and saw Pa and Ma and borrowed my great grandfather’s carving knife for Hubby to use as a pattern. Oldest niece is getting married so Hubby is smithing a carving set and lifting forks as a wedding gift. He has the forks made and today made the Damascus for the knife.

I could carve some fancy handles but have never made a blade.

It’s funny one of the smithy friends does fabulous wooden handles but can’t make a straight blade for nuthin’. If you have a local guild, might let them know. I know Hubby has had this fella do some handles for him at times since the wood forming is not his forte. Might be a good in if you want to learn.

Got up to put wood on the fire, it's 24° here right now. Of course Bear had to go out to pee! Nice clear sky, no wind! So now I'm awake. Have the day off, my Tuesday couple are sick! She went to the doctor since she's on oxygen, they have head colds! I have a small carpet cleaning job I could go do, it's in an empty office. But I originally planned on doing it this weekend, so I may just stay home, save the gas and catch up here!!

Praying I hear about the kittens I applied for and that they call to say they are mine. I can not stop thinking about them. The waiting is killing me.
I am wondering where you are located....there are SO many cats and kittens around here people try to get rid of
Or are these some special type of kittens?

have to go shopping today for chicken feed, grain for the goats and sheep, dog food, and a little bit of fresh people food
So going to the town with the feed store and the walmart I don't like ( that's all that's there ) , the better stores are all in the opposite direction
working on cleaning the goat buck house ( we got $ 390 each for the ones we sent, just got a text, not great but ok)
It has a 2 foot layer of old hay and bedding in it, didn't realize it was so bad. Blaming the husband, he usually feeds them in there. I think he gives them too much hay and they waste half of it

texted with my friend from Chicago yesterday, and much to my surprise they sent back a video in Japanese of some sort of earthquake and tsunami warning on tv ( I got the idea from the video what was going on)
Turns out they are in Japan, just got there in time for the earthquake ( she is Japanese)
They are ok, not on that side of the island
This makes me think of how many times my family has had close calls while traveling. Like we were in UK when they had some terrorist attacks. We flew out of Belgium right before they had some there. The plane next to mine flying out of Germany caught on fire ( I saw it) , another plane crashed same day I was flying once. People camping in Yosemite got the plague right after we hiked there
I want to just stay home......( but will probably visit my relatives this year in Germany and France)

Guess what the theme of PumkinSpice's photos will be from now on?!
I rang a lady twice about a kitten before Christmas for my daughter, but she hasn't come back to me. Had a great day with family yesterday, today using up the leftovers and the few things I forgot to put out. Two soups on the go- a Taco bean and sausage one on the woodburner and a carrot and coriander (using up carrots) on the stove. Going to do some writing today, tomorrow into town for milk and fresh veg, and planning on making a few lasagnes for when everyone is back at school/work. Otherwise just chilling...

Still working on bison bone broth, should be done cooking it by noon but I’m pretty sure I need to cool it and pull the fat off. I rendered the fat that came off the batch yesterday and it’s cooling a bit before I put it in a jar. I’ll be pulling the remaining leeks and a fair amount of parsnips from the garden today also. We are finally supposed to start getting some winter starting tomorrow for the foreseeable future according to our rogue local weather forecaster that doesn’t work for a news outfit so he actually provides detailed forecasts (awesome).school starts back up for the youngest tomorrow and the other two menfolk will be back to work also. I don’t go back until next week so I think I’ll do some pantry inventory and cleaning, maybe read a book, drink a cup of coffee without someone asking for more cookies…

Got all the Christmas boxes put in the big building...recruited neighbor boy Levi and little granddaughter for help. They'll do alot for spaghetti leftovers. Went into town for rabbit feed and to check the po box. Got paperwork of mom's stuff ready to mail to sister. Talked to mom's hospice nurse awhile, mom is in a bad mood, not eating again, fidgety, slept all day yesterday, but not making sense today. She's checking on her again tomorrow and will call me again. Her 02 is not bad. Hopefully she'll be in ok shape for Uncle Melvin's 100th bday party on Saturday. He's her brother. Talked to my favorite cousin...a few of the older cousins hired a driver for Saturday and a van load will go to Uncle Mel's party. Hung a wall hanging upstairs, cleaned up the little garage, kept the fire going after cleaning out the stove. Tomorrow is a long day doctor day for husband, so getting random stuff done. Cooked another turkey. We'll have some of it tonight, and the rest for lunchmeat...will go in the freezer. Cooked some ground chicken patties for husband's lunch the next few days.
