Finally heard from our old Division Director that 3 of my projects had just gotten funded. Now the fun begins. Gonna be a long several months getting all these done by the end of September.
Got a seperate solar powered project that we installed back in 2017. There are 30 stations all together and we purchased all the batteries at once. I've been trying to get the users to provide funding for at least partial replacements for 3 years so they didn't all fail at once. No dice. Finally last September we started having 2 units dead every morning. Users couldn't understand what was happening. We did a quick troubleshooting session and found batteries in both were done for. By October 3 more dropped out the same way. They finally approved funding to get batteries for 8 stations, 32 batteries total. Well they showed up last week. So this weekend we'll start swapping them out. Gonna be a fun weekend. We may get half of the 8 replaced.
My favorite quote applicable here is...

Dead-lines?
I like dead-lines.
I love the sound of them whizzing past!

The 3 projects that just got funded are under a DOE deadline fromban audit so whizzing by is not an option. I just hope I get cooperation from the facility folks. One of these should have been done already, but the facility hasn't let us start yet.

You sure that's not the village where Perseus found the 3 Stygian witches? 🤣

Home life is still hectic, no time to even use my new bread maker.

People are here every day getting mom and dad's care setup properly. Miss the peace and quiet..

Minor bathroom reno about to start. Glass doors coming off the shower, a new bench type seat that can move on a frame, even turn 90/180 and be secured ( locked into position) ordered today... Hand rails going up everywhere... Good things happening, mom's better to.

Stocking my freezer with Sourdough pizza dough, bagels, bread.
Feeding my starter every other day.
Made 24 Sourdough (Lego style) waffles for the freezer.
Getting ready for next round of Doctor's appointments, starting tomorrow.
Hopefully next week, if I have the energy will make homemade noodles to be dehydrated for soups, stews.
But also for the freezer.
Staying busy,unraveling......

Ugh...4 am? I'm having a hard enough time being up now at 6 am. But the girls go back to school today, and I'm the driver.
Husband has no doc appts today, so I'm going to do some errands after chores and after he is settled. Post office, bin store shopping, maybe grocery but maybe not. It's been a long time that I've had a day like today. I can be gone a couple of hours. It's going to be a cold day today.

Walk first.
Taking DH to get his ears cleaned today. Apparently, the new hearing aids he was given about 6 months ago cause wax to build up. So, this will be an every few months procedure.
Walmart to pick up my new glasses and a computer mouse for DH. Also wants to check out tires for his jeep.
Once home, will pick up friend and take her to local grocery.
That's about it. Got the whole house cleaned yesterday, so less to do, today!

miserable outside, weather warning for freezing rain and ice coming and black ice on roads. Good thing we don't have to go anywhere. Windy too and low 20s
Animals will mostly stay in. We moved the little bucks to the house we finished cleaning yesterday. We drove them up the road in the Ranger one at a time . They will get used to going up and down eventually but have to learn there is food at the other end first. Not in this weather

No other plans today, feeding the animals, the stove and us, that's it

We might play some more games

Punishing dogs- one went after the chickens when I was cleaning out the pen, and I was just dealing with him when I saw another had escaped and was tearing up the road alongside a jeep. Both are now locked up. Other than that, fixing a hole in the fence, cutting back overgrown hedges that are leaning on the road, a bit of gardening, tidying up mainly, and finally planting my garlic. Sometimes I don't know where my time goes...should have been in on the 21st of Dec, traditionally.

Same here. I know I’m getting “enough” sleep but my body says “no sun? no wakey.”

One of these years I should actually follow through on my perpetual threat to get a sunrise alarm clock.

Just learned there was a school shooting 20 miles from my town at Perry High School. So far we've heard 3 victims, 1 critical, shooter is in custody. Perry is a little town in the middle of nowhere, maybe 3000 people, and somebody had to go into the school and start shooting. What the hell is wrong with people?

I have been on the phone all morning trying to find a
1- in network dentist
2- in net work dentist that makes dentures

Out of a list of 9 dentist offices I found one

But this guy wants me to come in for an office visit
And I have a problem with being forced to go to an office just so they can be paid an office visit

The lady said you have to come in so we can get your insurance info to get the procedure approved
My response
No problem my insurance policy number is ……
Oh no. We need a copy of the card
No problem. You can get it when I come in

Why do they want you to come in for a useless office visit?
The only answer I can figure out is the office visit fee

Woke up around 8:30am coughing. Dog was growling -- I guess the coughing annoyed him. Went to check on Mom and her blood sugar was 42. She argued with me about taking a glucose tab because she was somewhat out of it, but I got her to take it. Going to check on her again in a bit-- but the cats will be sad because they are sitting on me. Need another cough drop though.

It’s supposed to be flurrying here but it just looks cold and gray.

Laundry and the remainder of the housecleaning for me today. I should start planning a fresh set of meals-in-a-jar to put up; we’ve eaten most of the soup that I made.
I love doing meals in a jar for us. I do soup mixes, pancake/waffle mix, etc. It's so handy to grab a jar of things already measured and just add the wet ingredients & cook.

Sounds like the perfect day to stay in and make me cinnamon rolls 😍 I prefer girl cinnamon rolls please. Oh wait, I can't have them right now. You just got your narrow escape 😂

Are they working on getting her a pump? Blood sugar going on frequent roller coaster rides is rough on a body.

So I am trying to get to Germany at some point this year, preferably in late spring or summer. But there are ALL these problems. I am seriously wondering if this will work at all.
First , flying is my #1 anxiety and panic attack causing fear. I do it, but I have to be drugged a lot. So someone has to come along, because I don't function at the airport, or shortly after.
We have close to 100 animals to take care of ( goats, sheep, chickens, dogs) , so someone has to absolutely stay here. And it is a LOT of work for one person.
Husband is going to stay , I plan on going with son after he graduates. His finals end after the first week of May
Took daughter last time ( about 6 years ago before she was married and in the Navy) , and it was no problem since both husband and son were here and we had less animals
So here are all my problems:
We can fly from Roanoke ( closest airport but still 2 hours away) or we can fly from DC ( 5 hours away) , or Charlotte ( 4 hours away)
Since husband needs to stay here we have to get to the airport somehow. Either take one vehicle and leave it ( and pay a huge amount of money to park it there) or rent one ( cheaper)
Almost all the flights land past the time we could potentially take a bus from the university, but that still requires an hour drive to get to it. Plus there are none really early or late, so if the plane is late, we are stuck
We would save about $1000 if we drove to DC but then the flight goes through Dublin Ireland and doesn't land until late on the way back , so we would have to stay in a hotel for one night and then drive home the next day
The easiest but most expensive way is to drive one of our cars to Roanoke and park it for a few weeks.
But then what if the car don't start after sitting for a few weeks?
The cheapest would be driving to DC
then there is the covid thing, we haven't had it. Are we going to get it on the plane? I always get sick on the plane

The thing I am starting to want to do is not go at all, but my dad is most likely not going to live much longer, plus I promised son a trip after graduating. *sigh*, this was so much easier in Orlando, we just took a taxi to the airport and there were plenty of flights to pick from .....

any input from you guys appreciated ( since sometimes if you are not directly involved you can see things better)
