At 11pm it was 72f on my porch, 80% humidity. Warm moist air is streaming up from the gulf tonight. Couple storms zipped by earlier but the unstable weather doesn’t get here until tomorrow, big rain and storms.

Had a decent week, just chores. Monday was the first time since the festival I felt like pickin’, had a good night and again last night. Even felt up to tackling my Bb folder. It’s tough, old school hard driving bluegrass, at least the first 15 songs are.

Did a little plant hunting after lunch. It's been so warm i keep expecting to see plants blooming that aren't ready. Need to take another trip over to the rocky river, haven't been since last spring.

No plans tomorrow but stay out of the rain and watch the radar.

Will walk in a few minutes.
Cleaning both outside porches today.
Clean out and re-organize linen closet.
Cook something for dinner later.

We did have Oreo put down, yesterday. It was very hard! We were both concerned that he would cause harm to one of us or the family coming down. Still very difficult and sad!
I'm sorry Snappy1

Last night's storm produced quarter size hail.
I puttered about all day.
Finished the laundry.
Will do ironing tomorrow.
Dishes are washed up, will put away Friday.
Cleaned the oven, thankfully it's self cleaning.
Will be making pizza dough tomorrow in new to me bread machine.
Just puttering about today.
Try to do a bit more each day.

I'd love to see pics of this process!
You can get a look at the process on the dreaded you tube at flashbutt welding process

This is a version of the off track, the in track is a lot more involved the measurements must be really close because the process actually fuses the rail and burns about an inch of metal as it welds the rails together, you can see most of it as the slag on the sides of the rail as the shoes are released.

None of the main railroads allow photography on their properties except by either their media departments or by obtaining a permit from the media departments.

Just as @Spikedriver says, you can be on the street in a second for breaking that or any rule.

Woke up with a sinus headache, the "normal" annoying dull pain. Nothing debilitating but it makes it one of those days when I shouldn't be around people. I did make my rounds visiting and posting, now it's time to shift gears. TGIF, lots of finishing up of stuff and then I can move on to yard work. :)

I'm home today 😃😃😃!!! Doing laundry, changing sheets, putting stew in the crockpot. Don't know yet how much rain we got last night and will get today, cold front came through, not sure what I'll get done outside! Will definitely be be rubbing Buddy good with the rubber curry comb, he's starting to shed his winter hair! Then I can watch him roll in the mud when I'm done!!

The hits just keep on coming....lost another cousin yesterday. He was diagnosed with ALS about 18 months ago. Everyone prayed he wouldn't suffer and he didn't. His body hadn't completely betrayed him yet.

More tears are shed over answered prayers than unanswered ones. It feels like everyone who peopled my youth is leaving.

going to rain soon so we will try to get started in a minute here to move animals around and clean the barn
everyone stays in, supposed to be bad storms here too ( but no tornadoes or hail just wind and rain)

the rest of the day I will do as little as possible, have a blister on my hand from shoveling barn bedding the past couple of days ( husband pushes the wheelbarrow out to the pile, I shovel)

At least we have a few stalls ready now. The other ones are not terrible just have a 2 ft layer of old bedding in them

tomorrow I really need to clean the house for dinner guests we are supposed to have Sunday , might do a little cleaning today like put things way. Floor is pointless until rain stops

We do have some photo exceptions, for certain "authorized" people. In the age of smart phones with good cameras, the bigwigs realized that it can be helpful to have pictures or video of certain things. For example, the track inspector might find something wrong, snap a pic, and send it to the roadmaster. That way the roadmaster can see just how bad it really is. The roadmaster might forward the pic to the section foreman so he can figure out exactly what he needs to bring for the job. If it's really bad, the roadmaster might also forward the pics to the director, to justify a service interruption.

The honest truth is, everybody has their phone, all the time. The unwritten rule is, "Just don't get caught". We had a couple tamper operators get smoked a few years ago. They were coming into the hole at end of shift, one was napping and the other was on his phone. BOOM! They hit a regulator going into the switch. Back when I was pretty new to the tie gangs, a couple Navajo machine operators saw some buffalo in a field next to the tracks and decided to take pictures. They stopped - in a curve - without radio contact, and got off the machine. Next machine operator behind them was on his phone, never looked up, and hit their machine.

Phones and railroads don't mix. Don't even get me started on regular people walking along the tracks, staring at their phones, with earbuds in. The results of that are not pretty...

Will walk first, today.
Pick up my friend and take her for a haircut and style for her Birthday gift.
Come home and make an ice cream cake for her party, tomorrow.
Bake chicken tenders with buffalo sauce for dinner.

.lost another cousin yesterday.
I'm sorry about your cousin!

Watching the ****-tube to get the latest Wx 4cast... most is going Right On Bye...!!!

Yeah I had the unfortunate task when I was working to go to most of the accidents and walk with the claim agent.

The worst I ever went to was a 6 day before Xmas car v train that killed three small children and two adults the children were each from a different mother and father all had the same grandmother, some of their toys were scattered a quarter mile.

In Down Town Memphis I was overnighting and went to the Wendy's on Highland to get a burger with the local section gang foreman, we came back to the xing and it was blocked because a person had crossed Southern ave and laid down on the track, got cut and rolled to Greer st.

A Cop just picked up the head and lower legs an threw them in garbage bags.

These things are like video tapes, you never forget them completely you can bring them up and they are still just as clear as day 1.

Coffee, do some of my own stuff today, like firewood, until it melts and the top inch of soil is slipperier than goose poop (not using a cusword kind of ruined that)

The "battle of the office boxes" is well underway, I have taken possession of the center of the battlefield. I failed to get a "before" photo. Soon, I will regroup and round up stragglers, then resume packing :)

I accidently bought 25 pounds of all purpose flour last month.
How many pint bags of flour did I get out of 25 pounds of flour?
I also filled my cannister.
Each pint bag has 4 cups of flour.

Finally finished the window cleaning that I needed to do, it's been on my list for weeks and weeks. It's almost time to start again with the upstairs windows (sigh). Next on my list is to plant strawberries in the strawberry pot. Maybe today. We have a cold night coming up on Sunday, so it'd stay in the greenhouse. Talking to little granddaughter's mom...she will be visiting her here tomorrow afternoon. That means little granddaughter needs to get her room cleaned up. Neighbor boy Levi got his go cart going again, so he's driving up and down the dirt roads. He stops in about every hour to see what I'm doing. Ha.

And she says she’s low on energy 😳
And the flour question- a lot!

@Tommyice wow, I’ve had spells of life like that. Makes you afraid to answer the phone. Prayers for your family and may you remember the smiles 💕

Was awake during the night some so this morning after coffee, dishes, shower etc I laid on the couch and dozed for about half an hour then felt pretty good. It’s gorgeous out so have been outside “playing”. I mowed for the first time and began a lot of general clean up.
Now inside icing my knee before getting back at it 😃

We are rolling south for spring break. Crossing the Bonneville Salt Flats currently. It’s the kind of day where the salt flats have just enough water to reflect everything. It’s surreal how the mountains seem to be floating in the sky!

I am low on energy.
Before I was ill would do three times as much in the morning.
Resting this afternoon, sipping lemon water, reading forums.
Reading next recipes for next candy making lessons.
Answer to flour question besides a lot is : 12 pint bags of 4 cups each of flour.
Why the pint bags, they're easier for me handle right now.
