Another busy day in the mountain cottage and some good news is the owners of our property have agreed to spray the entire property for termites, cockroaches, spiders and ants so that is an expense we won't get. We put it as a condition of our offer and purchase fortunately and it will cost the owners my guesstimate about $3000 - $5000 + to do all the spraying, ouch. I think they were hoping we would not notice but we did.

This morning we started the morning off with DH going to the dentist and he had his teeth cleaned and they want to do some further work to give him some fillings as well and the total cost for all of this will be $0 as we get free dental being on a lower income and DH being military too. While DH was away I packed another box in the sewing room. Then our loan documents turned up so we went to the bank to sign them and have them witnessed so that is now done and we don't pay anything on the loan until settlement in the beginning of December. Then went to the post office to do a mail redirection for when we move.

This evening we have been swapping over our winter clothing for our summer clothing in the bedroom and vacuum sealed most of our winter clothing for moving. Still more to go but we are getting there.

Tonight's dinner was long life vegetables and meat served on a bed of rice.

I just finished deep cleaning the shower. I wipe it down with a disinfectant/soap scum cleaner once a week but once a month I do a deep cleaning by scrubbing the whole thing with a brush and an industrial strength cleaner I get at Sam's club.
After that I need to sweep the front porch, rake some of the leaves from the sidewalk ( maple trees are nowhere done dropping them lol), thaw something for supper and rearrange some of my coats in the closet. I need to move the lighter windbreakers to the back and bring forward the more fleece and flannel lined ones and also my snow/ heavy cold weather coats. I also have to switch out my more lighter sweaters for my heavier ones some time this week ( actually just move the lighter ones to the bottom of the stack lol)

Ate.took a shower.doing laundry..gonna wash dishes. Other then that.i aint doing a blessed thing.lol

I like days like that lol

This morning, I finally received a pre paid label to return the broken meat grinder. I truly hope the seller doesn't try to take me for the refund price!

Went to Walmart for a few items, Kroger for grapes at 98 cents a pound. The produce stand I buy local honey at was closed today so have to go back for that. Will take a few eBay photos for items I wrote drafts for and then make spoon bread for our Church gathering in the morning.

Had Estelle for about 6 hours today.
Gravity found her this morning.
And gravity found mom this afternoon.
Granny(me) told Estelle sit down in rocker.
You guessed it, Strawberry jumped up on rocker,
Estelle bounced off rocker. Granny rubbed her back and behind.
Mom fell outside this afternoon. Shoes she had on slipped on concrete.
She's bruised, no broken bones. Was checked in ER.
Estelle got nipped by dad's outside cat. She yanked his ear.
Great Grand dad made it all better with little gem doughnut.
Will go to Wal*Mart for few things tomorrow.
Have Estelle again for the next few days.
Going on short trip for leaving Friday.
Starting with getting car serviced for winter.
Then just going for a drive will be back by Tuesday.
Tired today after having little britches.

Just got home from work. Its raining. Again. Thought I lived in the desert but it feels like I'm back in Central Tx. Of course I'll be complaining about a lack of rain next summer (most likely) so I better hush and appreciate it while we've got it, but after my feet dry......

Have to finish packaging the chickens from Sunday so I can get the cooler out of my kitchen.

Knocked an abundance of pears out of our tree. No one wants to come get them. I have all I want. I have pear butter going in the crockpot, pear honey on the stove, and enough pears for pear cake in the freezer.
Cleaned out the coop this morning, cleaned their water container and added vitamins to it. The poor birds are molting and have quit laying. Made chicken spaghetti for supper. Trying to get enough energy to go light a fire in the chimenia. Maybe not.

So far today I have rung up the real estate agent about a few more issues on our home and building report being a leaking pipe under the house and replacing a broken window. He is going to get onto the owners and work through the issues with them to discuss them fixing it. He asked if I was willing to send the owners a copy of the report which I said yes perfectly fine. He said he would get back to me on the result.

Then an update to the solicitor on the fact we signed the loan documents and the results of the building and pest inspection and what the owners need to do to rectify the problems. The lady handling our property may or may not ring back but she has all the details of what is going on.

With all the rain the lawns have taken off so DH had to mow twice with the ride on lawn mower to get it under control. It took him about 1.5 hours with a few breaks in between.

Sounds like things are falling into place for you two. Wouldn't it be nice to have a haggler like you, a haggler is a good thing, for every financial deal? You rake people over the coals!
I'm glad they are paying for the pest infestation remedy.
The one room with the wood paneling, I like that. And your kitchen is so big.
Your photo titled rumpus room...I was telling my kids about it. Americans, well, my mom anyway, referred to the rear end as a rump, so my kids were like rumpus room!!?? What do you do in there? laughing ensued. Then I told them about your outhouse. Sounds like a great place, @Sewingcreations15

@Patchouli yes I haggle on everything most of the time and you would be surprised what you can save if you are determined enough. On my car in the garage I haggled down the price $5000 on the end of plate run out price, new ride on lawn mower and chainsaws I haggled down the price $2000 and many others too numerous to mention.

Everything is falling into place gradually and DH has left me to speak mostly to the real estate agent to solve the issues, I haggled the second car down in price and DH haggled down the pest and building inspection and the surveyor costs.

Yes your Mum was right but I think it should be called a "romp" room for the children but however we are nowhere near beyond romping either :) . You are right the kitchen is huge which we are going to love working in there and we plan to put a 90 cm wide new stove and oven in there as we do so much cooking and preserving. We are really excited about the new home.

Practicing our emergency response.

Just made an appointment for the annual mammogram. ugh.
Mopped the bathroom and kitchen floors then damp mopped the bedroom floor since its a laminate and really doesn't get that dirty being the bedroom this morning.
Now I'm going to eat something for lunch and then read some more of the Freedom series. I'm still on book 2 as I keep putting it down to do something lol
Cod for supper. And I'm hungry for some broccoli but I have figure out what to make with both

My trip got cancelled. Now that I'm not getting paid for sitting, I don't have extra funds.
Especially for frivolous things like road trip.double dang it.
Dang, I'll have to go back to sitting, just so I can double down on car payments again.
So I decided if I can't afford a road trip, I just finish cleaning the sewing room.
Called my long tall drink of water today and told him I didn't have the funds to come to Tenn.
He wasn't happy. But he understands. He would like me to move permanent to Tenn.
Probably not going to happen now that I watch Estelle.
That will make my sons happy, my parents relieved.
Me and my long tall drink of water will be frustrated for a while.
Don't have enough funds stashed to go to Missouri Star Quilt company either.
It's about 2 hours up the road from me.
Might have enough saved to get car winterized.
Just about spent all the babysitting money I had saved.
Bought groceries today with a good chunk of it today.
Hadn't bought groceries in about 3 months, but was getting low on tp etc.
If I'm real careful will have enough to get car winterized.
And just about enough to get meat bundle next month to fill freezer.
Then everything I had saved will be gone.
But one the other hand, got money in savings, not as much as I would have liked.
And still have some in checking. All the monthly bills are paid. All the monthly bills increased quite a bit.
Will have to save a whole lot more money before the next knee surgery.
Will tighten up my belt again and hunker down winter will be here soon.
Thanks for letting me complain. Rant's over for now.

Leaving tomorrow for the post surgery eye appointment at the Callahan in the Big City. I'm going to stay over at a hotel tomorrow night. I just can't drive up, have a 2+ hour appointment, and then drive home, it's just to much in one day. I don't have the energy for that.

I did the math... previous expenditures and expenses to come. To get both eyes done... excluding medical bills, $1860. I'm calling it 2K, if I come in under it's a blessing. Medical expenses... the VA charged me $24 for eye drops...

Has anyone else noticed that the VA and Medicare are now covering a lot more than 2 or 3 years ago? I had an emergency room visit about 6 years ago... my cost, $2400 (trampled by a bull). My cost 4 years ago with a badly scratched eye... $800. My ER visit last summer when I sliced my thumb open (11 stitches) $53 and change. Things have changed with how medicare pays out... I've seen nothing in the news but have seen the effects.

Scratched eye... a few drops. $800
Sliced thumb, x-rays to rule out bone chip, antibiotics, stitches, bandages. $53...

Something has changed!

I'll probably post back Friday evening...

When is your surgery and how long will it be before you see clearly?

Had surgery on my right eye last thursday. 20/20 in that eye. This is the post op appointment. I have to wait 30 days and then go through the same steps for my left eye. Hopefully I'll have surgery before christmas... I hope to step up the pressure and get the surgery scheduled for November. Yeah, right, it's taken the VA a year to do anything at all... ;)

It's been busy at work these last few months.
People are quitting and I'm picking up the slack.
I haven't been posting a lot here, but trying to keep up with reading, and other forums also.
Had messaged a member here a few days ago, just to let someone know I'm still around. ;)
Hope everyone has a great day.
I appreciate all of you.

Started off the morning with visiting my friend in the aged care facility she is unfortunately not doing too well and had a stroke yesterday but didn't tell us so we would not worry , but instead told us that she had a stomach virus. My husband and a friend went to give her a blessing and one of the nurses told him she had had a stroke the day before. So I rang up my VM (visiting ministering) partner and told her what was going on. Then I rang the RS President and let her know to update her. DH rang her son who is a good friend of ours and told him thinking that he knew but unfortunately he didn't either as I would say his mum told the nurses not to let her son know. Poor DH felt awful at the silence on the other end of the phone when he found out. That sorted we can now support the son emotionally in any way we can as he suffers a mental health issue.

While I was away this morning DH put on a load of washing and loaded the bins with sticks we had put firewood on under the house that were not good burning ones and too sappy so half of them are now gone without a trip to the tip again.

This afternoon DH rang and organised life insurance for both of us so if one of us kicks the bucket the other will get a payout to pay out our mortgage. While DH was out giving my friend a blessing I continued to pack up more clothing from our dressing room and have culled it down to just the minimum and vacuum sealed the rest and put them in the dressing room. DH and I have just finished packing up most of the sewing room and now that is all in marked packing boxes too.

Tonight's dinner is tuna, pasta and garden vegetable bake which will last us for the next 2 nights.

Sorry about your friend, Sewing, and hope she recovers ok.
Taking the day off from work, taking husband out to breakfast. He has a nurse visit today, although we don't know why. He has three more IV injections needed and then we're done. The next one I do in 10 minutes. She has only been out once, and I had issues with her sanitary routine, and his midline comes out tomorrow morning. Hoping to can some very ripe tomatoes. Grandkids have a band concert this evening we need to go to. Or just me and youngest daughter if husband doesn't feel up to it.

I"m sitting in a chair in awe.

Wanted to get by Federal blessed State Driver's license. While I'm at it get my passport to. State and Feds will not accept my hospital issued Birth Certificate (BC). For and extra $10 I can order my BC online. Save me the trip and hours off from work. Two days latter I get the BC in the mail. My dad's first name is wrong on the BC.

I make a copy of the online order, the BC with the wrong name and the hospital BC. I'll take the afternoon off and go do battle with the County!!!!!!!!!!!

Online I find the FAX number for the County Dept that issues BC. I FAX them a cover letter explaining along with a copy of the receipt, and both BCs. A lot of good this is going to do me I thought as the last page FAXed. 5 minutes later the County calls me?!?!? Here's where the battle starts I thought. Handwritten records has my dad's name wrong but using the Hospital's BC they have corrected it. They will have a corrected BC in today's mail!

No battles with government bureaucracy, no blood pressure going into orbit and no sweat. A government entity that provides outstanding customer service!

During lunch I drove to the BMV. For one of my approved IDs I showed the Clerk my permit to carry. I was expecting a hysterical "GUN!" scream as the Clerk ran for cover. Plan on sitting there with my palms flat on the counter until SWAT arrived. Nope, Clerk never batted an eye. 5 minutes, sign here and here and here, your new license will be mailed to you within 2 weeks. Another government agency with excellent customer service.

I'm shocked again! County called to say they received the defective BC I Mailed to them, did I receive the corrected BC? No? Here is their direct number to call and let them know when I received the BC. It was in last night's mail, called this morning to let them know. That is service!
