Back home...had to evacuate the house, the wheat field across the dirt road was on fire. Aaron the amish lad was mowing and spotted it. Got husband and pup and Aaron in the truck and drove down the road to the other neighbors to watch. The fire came up to the edge, but didn't cross the road. Thankfully. All houses, neighbors and animals are good. Looks like at least 100 acres burned. I've never seen a wall of flames that high. It was ready for harvest. No clue how it started, unless maybe someone thru a cigarette out the window. Half the town was here putting it out.
Getting ready to go to farmer's mkt, the post office, the pharmacy, and to pick up little granddaughter.
Glad your property was saved! Do feel bad for your neighbor though! Hope it doesn't hurt them to awfully bad. As far as people throwing cigarettes out the window, whether that was the case or not, I never understood that. Even when I smoked I used my ashtray. It's as bad, but more harmful I think, than throwing trash out the window! But most of these people are the ones that complain when someone throws trash in their yard!

Same here ... taking it easy.

Worker is here finishing up the little things: paint here and there, hang vanity mirrors, install kick plate on vanity bottom and filler on either side, install door knobs, etc. Looks like we'll be done today!!! 9 weeks ... I'm too old for this! It's gonna take 2 weeks to clean the house up after all this. I feel like we should have a party to celebrate.

I agree about being to old for this!
And, Party, I'm in! Haven't had or been to one since I don't know when!😹

Got up, worked out, cleaned up, went to the range, dropped off some stuff for the lady, picked up some stuff for the lady, came home, did some mowing, cleaned some camera lenses, cleaned some guns and now I am transmitting 1's and 0's over a network of fiber optic bundles.

Are you sure it's 1 s and 0 s, maybe it is hexadecimal

That is what I want, a combination microwave and air fryer. Microwave is above the stove and once in a while acts a little quirky.

It is day two of not feeling well. On Saturday I was vomiting about once an hour and visiting the porcelain throne. I've only eaten a few saltine crackers and been drinking 7 up and Canada Dry. I don't feel like vomiting, but I do not really want to eat anything. It has been about 15 years since I had a similar thing, and then found out I was one of 9 who got food poisoning at a staff lunch.
I was talking to a friend today and she told that there is a norovirus going around with the same symptoms that I had.

I sid air layering of my English Walnut trees using clam shell globes.

Looks like I was decorating for a black Christmas.

Okay, I plead ignorance. What in the world are those things for?
Air layering. A method to propagate plants.

One could lay a branch of a bush on the ground, cover with dirt and a rock and roots will develop.

Air layering wraps a branch with a wad of dirt then wrapping that in plastic does the same thing. The spheres make air layering easier. Wound the branch, fill the hemisphere with mulch and clamp on the branch. Keep them moist for a few months.

I have done grapes with them but this is first time for English Walnut

Daughter drove over to have our hometown mechanic do some fixing on her car, so Mom and I met her in town and we went out for a late lunch while waiting on her car. It was really good to spend time with both of them.

I was supposed to do a couple of projects in the house this morning but ended up working instead, some crazy stuff going on that couldn't wait til Monday. So much for my flex day. Our time-keeping software is so absolutely awful that I asked my boss if I could just take time off next week instead of trying to change my time card, he gave a sigh of relief and said I was hoping you'd say that! LOL. It's great to have a boss with common sense; he knows I worked today and I know I'll get my time back next week and neither of us feels the need to fight the administrative software gremlins to make it "official".

@sonya123 be careful with the covid problem, It has some long term things that you do not always hear about including brain fog if you let it get bad, I had a three week case with lotsa nasal and throat problems Used Listerine to deep gargle four times a day Mucinex and ZPac never slept on my back. After the first few days when I could I went outside and walked a Mile at about 3 mph to get fresh air into my lungs I had to wear a coat somedays and a scarf but not a mask!! I think once you have covid the mask will concentrate your viral count, you need to breathe it out not back into your lungs.

Around here they do give the Paxlovid, if you go in the first couple of days.

Same stuff they jumped Trump about before the election and talked so many into not taking.

My 80 yo BIL took it and was over his in two days and he smokes at least a pack a day.

We (Mom, bro, & I) all took Paxlovid and it helped. My sister also took Paxlovid. It does leave an awful taste in your mouth and everything you eat tastes nasty for awhile, but its worth it to reduce the issues with Covid. People are supposedly much less likely to get long Covid if they take it within time. It's super expensive if you don't have insurance or if it isn't given for free. We got it when it was still free.

Mom was actually ready on time to leave for her appointment with the diabetic specialist to discuss infusion set options. Appointment was supposed to be at 3:15pm. We sat at least 15min before being taken in to a room. The nurse checked Mom's weight, temp, O2, bp, and blood sugar. Then we sat there until 4:30pm before the NP came in. We were about to leave because Mom was hungry and tired of waiting. She was a bit frazzled and said she was confused as to why the diabetes supply place told us to pick an infusion set because they normally did a specific one by default. We discussed the options and decided to go with the default Autosoft 90. I watched videos on how to use the various infusion sets and the NP assured us that this one is very easy to use and she will show us how. So I texted the diabetes supply place and requested that one. They said they will send it out Monday. Hopefully we'll have it before Mom's appointment. Will see if the company also sends the Lispro or if we have to get different insulin.

Dropped Mom off at the doors of Walmart so she could go get a riding cart while I looked to park. As usual, she took her sweet time getting out of the vehicle so someone took the parking spot I was hoping to get. Like the 10th time that has happened. She just sat in the car not moving while I asked her to please get out so I could park. Often she will reach back into the car or not shut the door and will move at sloth pace. I ended up finding a spot and the greeter (a family friend of ours who used to be a manager there until he had cardiac issues) went and got a riding cart for her. She took her sweet time in the store too, but once we got some frozen stuff I told her we needed to hurry so it didn't melt. That worked. Got out to the truck and realized her purse wasn't there. Called the doctor's office (that was closed) and got their answering service. They contacted the NP so she could go look to see if Mom left it in the room. She called back and confirmed as I was leaving the Walmart parking lot. I said I'd be there in a couple of minutes. I had to call again when I got there since the door was locked. She handed me the purse and I thanked her. It was very sweet of her to go back to the office for that. Didn't want Mom's purse left there over the weekend.

Got home and I unloaded groceries. We'd grabbed food from McDonald's so we ate and then I came back to my room to do more research on relays, contactors, float switches etc.

Things finally settled down on our road. The fire torched another 10 acres past the hedge row, but that's owned by a cousin of mine. Saw them out there harvesting wheat after that part of the fire was put out. Looks pretty bad across the road from us, 100 acres of burnt wheat down to the ground. All black around the utility poles, I'm surprised that they didn't go up in flames. We went to the farmer's mkt...lots of treats and gossip, the post office, into the bigger town to two different pharmacies, picked up little granddaughter at her last zoo day and went out for ice cream. Then loaded up a cart at Dollar Tree. I heard that they'll be a $1.50 tree soon.

Just glad to see you here!!🩷

Fire is a TERRIBLE thing! Glad y'all are safe!! One of my biggest fears, I would never leave!!

HEHEHEHEH wife just had a visit from a FOX, she was in the alcove of the back porch and it came to check out the porch, Scared yesterdays stew out of her, It was a grown one from the size she showed me height wise.

I asked her if it growled, looked hard at her or did anything but turn and run when it saw her she said no it just took off like a rocket so i don't think we are worried about it.

We have a lot of them around here you can hear the little ones screaming for mom at night.

Heading Down that old Hallway to Sleepy Town, Hope All Here have a Good, Safe and Sound Sleep...!!!

Bearly Able to make it...!! 🤣

Cleaning out a shed for a new woodpile and the barn today. Skip and husband at the ready. I don't need the husband, but he wont leave me to it, in case I get rid of something 'useful' lol. Also planting out seedlings and putting down a few late seeds. It's quite cold at night; I expect a bad harvest across Europe. The jet stream is not where it should be.

The wife and I both had the China flu. We didn't take anything for it and never wore the mask, either before, during or after the flu. We survived just fine.
I had a fever and chills for 36 hours and that was it. The darn thing was way over exaggerated.

China flu is a good name. I call it the government virus.

They have a huge farmer's market 15 miles from here that I like to go to every Saturday during the summer. Lots of women walking around in their shorty shorts. I might even try to find some vendors. LOL

Then there is a Flag Fest parade here is Spencer, Iowa that I will go to. It will be pretty good.

Good Morning, don't 4get 2 do Your Morning Stretching :

Today I am trying to recover from a long week 12+ hour days with a 3 hour commute make retirement look attractive... My indoor growing station did not fair well in my absence... This morning I did the grocery shopping, fueled two vehicles, and made a HD run... Total damage, just short of $500.

Now, I'm resting, eating chips and watching Rodney Dance... Thanks @Snowman :)

Already worked out, checked the property and fed that sleeping woman's dogs some chopped up turkey. Then I spent a bit of time on the gun bench pressing lead projectiles into brass tubes. Now I am sitting out on the patio with a laptop, a jug of sweet tea, two ugly canines and a Glock 19. That lady works until early morning hours so she will keep dreaming for another couple hours and then I am sure she will press me into service. Maybe the good kind, maybe the laborious kind. One never knows what lurks inside the mind of the fairer sex.
