Got up early and enjoyed the sunrise with a nice cup of coffee.
Fed everyone and took the pups for a walk. Ran into a guy on the trail walking his pooch and we ended up walking the pups together so they could romp n play.
What a totally interesting guy he is too..been in the military, was a CO in California for 19 years after that. I wouldn't have guessed CO because his energy was so relaxed and chill.
Really cool guy to chat n walk with and the pups had fun.
I really like those spontaneous meet n greets that feel like long lost friends .

Then I hit the store for a few items I forgot yesterday..got lunch in the crackpot, deformed the goats n now going to clean subues windshield..
Are y'all going on a second date???😉

Nothing but rest today besides a short walk to check the fences around the holding pen. Fed and watered the calf, dinner and more sitting in my chair.

Playing a little music tonight though, can do that from my chair. I didn't have the energy when doing all the fence work and bush hogging the last few weeks. Most days it was a struggle just to make myself play, skipped a day here or there. Picking yesterday rejuvenated me a bit.

Its a bank holiday here, eldest is home for a few days, so yesterday had a lovely full family dinner around the table. Our clocks changed and its reading week - which means those in college are home getting an extra hour in bed. Husband has gone to archery, but then onto work as there is a job to be sorted. Tomorrow is my last day teaching for a while, so this morning I'm editing the work that was sent to me and finalising slides. Its fairly damp and breezy outside after a night of rain, feeling like an 'inside day' good for writing! The boys are moving bedrooms so there'll be moving of furniture later and a bit of cooking for the week ahead. I also began the Christmas countdown, picking up a few bits and making the list of food I only buy at this time of year as a treat.

Sportman’s Club Testing my new 14 round mags. for the home defense pistol.
Prolly’ gonna have a Cranberry Ginger ale at the club house.

I even suggested that we set aside some money to give the GKs a little when/if they graduate high school (my thinking was $500), the wife promptly shot that down. She doesn't like the choices the kids make and making "gifts" to them would just make them more irresponsible... I don't agree with that thinking, but I know my place...
It's your money you earn, do it anyways! You take such good care of her she shouldn't complain....

worked in orchard this afternoon...then went worked in woods just a little bit...then went hiked some at end of day...my rear was dragging getting back to truck....finished for the day.

life is good
I have a probably stupid question: do fruit trees need to be watered in fall or winter if it is dry and the leaves are falling off? Just wondering, it's been so dry here lately again. Last year my favorite apple tree died during the winter and I wonder if that was why ( not enough water)

stayed up late last night playing games .the guys talked me into playing that castle game I didn't like the first time, and lol I won. It got a little easier to keep track of things the second time I played it and this was the first time we played with 3 people

today we are going to hook up a few of the new solar panels I got on Temu with the old equipment just to see if they even work. They cost half of what we paid for the other ones. We'll see....
then another trip to the dump to get rid of the cardboard and some other stuff still sitting in the dump pile
better get started

We just gave our kids a good amt of money each. A gift. No questions or stipulations on what it's for. It's interesting what each has spent it on, or which one saved it. One in particular, does not spend wisely, but it was given with no care about that, just a gift. Was happy to do it.

Yes. They need water.

If it's really dry and the ground is not frozen....YES!

Today is a not sure yet day because husband is still in bed. He was not looking great middle of the night, so maybe he wants to go in to the docs today, we'll see. If I'm home...there's animal and garden chores this morning, some more painting on the garage window and door trim to do, and greenhouse work. Supposed to be high heat today, possible record breaking...about 90. It's already windy. Pretty surprising for October. Bread to be made this morning and a fridge to clean out.

Shower
A medical appointment in the city early this afternoon
Laundry and cleaning
Make a few phone calls or texts about getting a ride to the airport.
Maybe walk the dog at the park
Get stuff ready for my trip.
Been cleaning out the freezer, stuff that looks freezer burnt or wasn’t well sealed I’ve been cooking for the dog. The cat has been puking a lot lately. Seems only dry kibble and dry treats sit well sometimes with kitty, an occasional tiny morsel of chicken. So might cook something for the dog today, to be used while I’m gone.
Hope you get an easy day today @Amish Heart
@Pearl i know you were up late counting. 🤣

Usual Monday stuff work. I worked yesterday so I could have Wednesday off. We need to close up the cabin for winter.

I’ll be leaving work part of the day to take Dad to the oral surgeon. His biopsy results are available and the dentist wants a consultation with us. Dad is Fred imagining all kinds of horrible horrible outcomes. I’m thinking it’s deteriorated bone that had the infection. We’ll see I may or may not go back to work afterwards. I have enough help scheduled in case I don’t and we’ll see what state Dad is in .

My Irishman and I are enjoying a fresh brewed cup of coffee.
I have to go class in a bit so I can learn how to make different pasta.
Also signed up for a class on cheese making.
While I gone this morning, my Irishman is supposed to grate up cheddar cheese.
We will see if he does or not.
My food processor bit the dust, with the help of the Irishman.
So now you grate cheese by hand.
Deer meat burritos is on the menu for dinner.
So he gets to grate cheese by hand.

I've said this before, but it bares repeating. Folks always go to worse case scenario. Ask him what's the best that could happen. It might stun him a little. Our tendency is to be negative. Regardless of what is said, asking about the best thing will get his mind going in a different direction and whatever the news will be an easier conversation. (Prayers for you both)

Tell him "Maidin mhaith."
Have fun at class.

Have to get the tomato cages stacked properly and stored away for winter. Also need to sort some tomatoes so they ripen rather than rotten ;) Lots of seeds to get sorted, labeled and in envelopes etc. There was something else that was relatively important, but I can't think of it. Guess I will remember when it becomes urgent 😜

My Irishman did not grate cheese the old fashion way with a box grater.
But he said he would grate cheese with new electric grater.
That he would purchase.

It seems that Granny is in trouble with her youngest son.
But Grandpa(his dad) is in worse trouble than I am.
Seems my youngest warrior princess repeated something we both individually said at their church yesterday.
So Granny has to pay a fine to the church.
My fine is $5.
Grandpa's fine and his girlfriend's fine comes to the grand total of $20.
Also payable to the church..
Little miss repeat had the wording down and the hand movements down pat for both of us.

Geesh, Mo. What did you say?
The Good Lord loves Ducks.
At least I reworded it what I wanted to say was something entirely different.
Grandpa didn't reword his statement at all.
I am trying not to swear in front of the grandchildren.
Good thing the Navy Chaplain has a lot of patience and understanding.
And he kept a straight face when she asked him if the Good Lord loves Ducks.
I didn't say it at the church.
I said it in the backyard of my son's house.
But I did say it.
My Irishman isn't very happy.
But my Irishman wasn't happy about my ex husband said either.
It took 4 hefty men to keep my Irishman away from my ex husband.

I remembered the important thing I had to do: verify something from former tax year and let bookkeeper know. (Done)
Also, got tomatoes all sorted. While I was out there and had gloves on, I decided I might as well get the garden implements cleaned up. Got all the handles treated with linseed oil. Also the tool ends oiled except for the shovels. They need to go to the shop and get sharpened. Also did the hand-helds: spades and forks of various sorts. I need to do some restoration on a few of those little handles - poor little things. I shove them into oiled sand in a bucket so they aren't bad that way, but puppies have chewed, years of neglect (yard sale finds), etc. I will get some putty and fill the cracks then sand up and seal. They should be good to go. That's usually a midwinter chore, but nice to have it done. Tomato cages in and stacked. Now I should work in the house 🫣

Got up, worked out, cleaned up, went to work, ran a couple errands, ate a sample cupcake provided by a woman who wants me to buy cupcakes from her, took Charlene in for a check up and some new fluids/filters, came home, saw mega-Karen parking her Prius, rumbled my exhaust pipes for a while to offset her lack of carbon emissions, had her shoot me the stink eye, flashed her the two-hand heart sign, went inside, started cooking dinner, turned on some 80's yacht rock, grabbed my laptop and made the internet a better place with my insights and observations.
