My internet is wigging out tonight - won't even let me 'like' comments. Frodo you are pretty handy with leather, making some nice things. Do you have an etsy shop? Or sell them somewhere?
Backpacker I knew you'd be better - so glad to hear it! Next checkup will be perfect. :)
CV here in WA and it is/has been in a nursing home in Seattle which is where the deaths have occurred (I think, unless updated differently.) I would love to stay home for a week or two, not because of corona virus, but just to get things done and have some down time. Unfortunately not an option for me.

No etsy shop. all my work is custom. If I went with etsy I would have to crank out 100 of the same thing
I like just letting my mind do what i does in the moment...

Still studying for my Amateur Radio license. The majority of the practice exams I'm getting a passing grade. The real exam I take this evening which is being hosted at a retirement community...yep you read right... at a retirement community. After the POTUS speech last night the retirement community may go into lock down which means no exam for me. I'll know by this afternoon.

Well the retirement center down the road from the retirement center that is hosting the Amateur radio testing is locked down BUT the hosting one isn't! I'm headed that way in a few minutes.

We picked up enough great meat to hold us for about 3-4 weeks. Then it will be freezer prep meat. only in contact with 2 people at meat market.
Stopped by Dollar general for milk. Only contacted 2 people.
The bleach shelf was empty and no hand sanitizer.
I got gallons of both anyway. I have an old chest freezer full of TP.

We are home now, won't be leaving the farm until I am comfortable that this virus crap is under control.
No panic, no fear...just cautious.

Jim
That is brilliant! Why have I not thought of it? When we moved here, we had at least a yrs. worth of TP. I didn't have a good place for all of it so scaled my supply down a bit. I can keep it in the freezer! Yes! Now maybe I need to go raid the stores 😂 Ooooorrr, maybe I'll just wait until the brand I like goes on sale again:)

Old refrigerators work really well for storage also. Sealed. No insects.

Went to fill up with gas, go to the day old bakery, and to Dollar Tree, a bigger one. Grouchy people and out of everything. Even tp. Husband wanted to go to Sams, so off we went. It was like black Friday. We were told at the door out of tp, water, paper towels, antibacterial soap, salt, gloves. Husband couldn't find a riding cart, so had to wait in the truck. Granddaughter and I braved it. Told husband he was lucky....I wanted to stock up on cheese, and they had two kinds left....1 pkg of sliced swiss, and blocks of sharp cheddar. Both are his favorite. People were grouchy, aisles were packed (on a Thursday!) and they were out of tons of stuff. So, there we have it. Last grocery trip. #5 was just announced in our county. 40 yr old, and they didn't say if she traveled or not, not saying. We have wayyyyy too many eggs, and I'm not putting a egg sale sign up. So granddaughters were going to our 4 neighbors and giving them a few dozen each. Got neighborhood info, which is always good. Next door girls said they are not going to school anymore and they went to the store and got lots of food. Which is good, because granddaughter hangs out with them, and knows they don't usually have much at home. They go out a lot. So, one less to worry about. Grandson had all day drama practice today, and has for the next few days, but the performance is cancelled for now and will be rescheduled, or filmed. This drama teacher will not give up. The kids were scheduled out today and tomorrow for conferencing anyway. We'll see what happens. Youngest daughter still working ER, and next up daughter still flying out Sunday to the artic circle for 6 weeks.

Heard today Knoxville got their first case, which makes 2 in East Tennessee in the last 2 days. Both supposedly had been out of the country. The knoxville case is self quarentinning at home and has required no medical care. Knoxville is the closet Big City to us. Still several miles away. We are monitoring and trying to stay out of crowds. We're pretty good on stocks, just adding certain things as we think of them or need something fresh. I think this weekend we'll go to a little country store we shop at sometimes and get a good supply of meat. They have great quality and prices. We've got meat, but are probably lower on it than anything.

Another good place to store TP, paper towels, etc is in a 55 gallon drum where the lid comes off. They'll hold a bunch and it fits nicely too. Nice dry and bug free.

I ran errands on the way out of town this morning. Got home in time for a nice long nap…

The nursing home booted out my mom and niece at 4pm today. No more visitors for dad or any of the residents. I’ve been managing dad’s care for such a long time it’s hard to just step back and trust it to others. I feel sort of helpless.

My mind keeps racing tonight… did I forget something? Overlook something? I just hope I made all the right arrangements, left the right pieces in place.

On the other hand I need to sleep for about a week, looks like I will finally get to do that.

I'm going to put this here rather than the CV thread - mods feel free to move it. If I am able to share the actual write up, I will post it there. To sum it up though, by the time you show any symptoms of the virus, your lungs are about 50% fibrosis- not good. An easy test you can do each morning is take a deep breath and hold it for 10 seconds. You should be able to do this without coughing, choking etc. unless you have a preexisting condition. It also stated to drink a swallow or two of water about every 15 min. to wash virus into stomach where the acids will kill it. The article was PM'd to hubby by a friend so don't want to share without permission and haven't heard back yet. I'm sharing the gist of it here 'cuz I love y'all.

Won't let me edit- this isn't a test for the virus, just the condition of the lungs, but an indicator.

Got my chores done, coffee made, trash burned, cats fed, robot sweeper run over kitchen, put away stuff.

Gonna be fun ,
Hatches battened down, locked ourselves on the farm I or undetermined amount of time.
Wish it would warm up a little, I need garage tinker time.
Gotta check my battery pack , for charge and water level.
Would really like to wash wife's car, but it's raining every day.
High chances of rain everyday next week.

Guy is bringing another 5 Rick's of firewood today, sometime.

Thank you LadyL this sounds like good info thatmay help many who listen.:Thankyou:

I am doing what I seem to do every day now. Sit in meetings and watch politicians, community leaders, functionaries, and others people panic over COVID-19 while simultaneously freaking out because they just now realized that they are not personally or professionally prepared for COVID-19. Then they look at my boss and I like somehow we are going to save them (inside info: we're not going to). We just say, talk to your emergency management people that's their job. Meanwhile we are sitting here in a secure facility with food/water stores, tons of ammo, lots of toilet paper, first aid supplies, and quite a number of LEO's who routinely deal with people infected with Hepatitis, HIV, Influenza, etc. that don't seem to be the least bit concerned.

I just ordered a dozen pizzas for lunch and told the officers we might as well face the end of days with pepperoni in our belly's and Coke Zero on our breath.

Well today is my wife's birthday. I have done my due diligence. The gifts are bought and wrapped. The cards are bought, but do need to be signed. One from me. One from son. On the way home I have to pick up flowers, a cake, and whatever she wants for dinner. She did not want to go out. Rather spend a quiet evening at home. Maybe I will dig out the blender, and make some ice cream drinks. My bartending skills are legendary. drink buddy You think that will serve a purpose when TEOTWAWKI comes?

No way, sugar is the devil! 👿

I agree there are some devils growing it and ruining the environment like our Eveglades, but sugar is good if controlled like big meat corps that also dumps into our resevours pollutanys and the feed it takes to feed livestock also impacts our environment big time. Takes more land to grow crops to get that beast to market than it does to grow drops for humans. We have destroyed millions of areas in Africa from cattle farms.Chased millions of people into the deserts both natural and created by big beef.
Lots of things wil have to change if we want our children to have soil for food and drinking water to survive.

Happy Birthday, Mrs Morgan 101. I am taking a break from painting the laundry room. Youngest daughter called and was offered a job at the Tuscon Hospital, and will be starting in June. She is off today, but works the local Walgreens Pharmacy on Sunday, long shift. She'll be spending time with her sis tonight, and we'll see her Sunday before her flight to Alaska. I've got tons to do around here, but husband is a bit stir crazy. Waiting to see if the base closes Monday, and then he'll be working from home two days a week. Pizza and movie night tonight, and a new 1000 piece puzzle started.

@Amish Heart
Amish today in court was not good for the daughter, granddaughter lost case of getting back her kids so daughter will have to keep them at lest a few more months!
She is mad at all of them including her daughter she is reading PSalms 91 and pratying for peace and little Tarzon to cool it for a few minutes. Plus the other 2 are arguing while Tarzon swings from the imaginary vines.Any advice since if I remember you went thru something like this?

It was no fault of the mother just a really radical leftest treatment case worker who hates white Christians. She yold grandaughter that shethinks she is smart because she " has a mommy who helps her umlike these poor ghetto kids who have nobody." Not Defax or Family Services but some hate filled drug treatment worker[ I forgot her title} .
She was in treatment since Novenmber and not any drug whatsoever since, been working full time for 2 months, plus community service while living in parents rental home. But daughter still has 3 of her kids while first husband has one 5 yr old. Father of other 3 won't work still on drugs and not paying support, yet he is excused.

We made our monthly trip to Costco. Got there just after they opened. The line to get in went way down the side of the building. My wife said we don't need anything that bad and we left. We'll try again in a couple of weeks. I went to Harbor Freight for their parking lot sale. Very few people there and they didn't have anything I really need so again we left. We had breakfast/lunch and drove the 50 miles back home. I did stop to fill up with gas because the temperature is dropping and I don't like to have a half-full tank because of water condensation. My wife is going to Walmart to get a prescription and she said she will wander around and see how well they are stocked.

My wife just got home from Walmart. Lots of empty shelves. No TP, no disinfectant, very little paper products, some types of meat not available, a good selection of fresh vegetables.
A woman told my wife she had been to all of the stores in town and there was no toilet paper at any of them.
When the panic is over I will bet there are a lot of people that hoard TP.
So the thing to learn from this is to stock TP for barter.

Hey there Meer - just want you to know it's not that way everywhere. You did specify big meat corps. and I agree with that. But out here, cattle are raised on land that is rated acres/cow not the other way around. No crops could grow or be harvested from the rugged country they graze. Also irksome is that deforestation is blamed on livestock alone, yet we can't opt out of junk mail or plastic packaging which are far less sustainable and far more damaging to earth than beef. It's a much larger issue than just one industry. Just wanted to share that different areas have different experiences. Maybe too political for here - sorry. Delete if necessary.
