Hey there Meer - just want you to know it's not that way everywhere. You did specify big meat corps. and I agree with that. But out here, cattle are raised on land that is rated acres/cow not the other way around. No crops could grow or be harvested from the rugged country they graze. Also irksome is that deforestation is blamed on livestock alone, yet we can't opt out of junk mail or plastic packaging which are far less sustainable and far more damaging to earth than beef. It's a much larger issue than just one industry. Just wanted to share that different areas have different experiences. Maybe too political for here - sorry. Delete if necessary.

LadyL of course its not one or the other, just maybe a little more control on both. I'm all for meat just had hamburger yesterday and nothing like a big juicey steak.

Getting ready to go over to another couples house for dinner and games. The lady of the house and my wife serve on a lot of church committees together and are co-hosts of the annual women's retreat. I got her husband into shooting about 15 years ago when he owned nothing buy an older Remington 870. Now he has a pile of guns, which he is very excited to show me. Other than my concern about her cooking Keto, I am sure it will be a fun evening. It will not be a late evening however as I have been up since 4:30am. I hope you all have a fun evening as well. Even those of you who are self quarantined. 😷

Worked all day, heard a rumor that we may be shutting down before long over the virus. Already been told to plan on working from home if we do. Sounds ok for me. Save money on the drive and I'll have an extra couple hours to work around here in the day light without the drive.
Tonight went and meet my cousin, her daughter, and 3 grandkids. They came up to spend the week during springbreak. Good to spend some time with them.

Always good to see family good for yall.

Laundry is done.
Washed, dried and put away.
Strawberry is behaving better this week since she knocked me down Tuesday.
My ribs don't hurt as much so breathing is easier.
Left shoulder, collar bone still sore and tender though.
Oldest son must have thought I needed groceries.
When I came home from park from my mid afternoon walk, the freezer was full of meat.
There was about 20 cans of soups stacked on the table.
Various fresh fruits and vegetables on top of washer top.
Just about got everything put away.
But resting for a bit first.

Found out our yearly business meeting and first responder training at work, is cancelled due to the Corona. But it's apparently not bad enough to keep us from traveling all over God's Creation to keep the trains from hitting the dirt...

I think I'll drink a Corona beer tonight, just for spite...

Spike take care and 🍻.

Well the guy didn't make it with the firewood.
He called and said he was still cutting and splitting.
Said it will all be Walnut..wow, that's spensive wood.
But , I don't know his source,
I know black walnut does make good firewood.
At $30 a Rick ,delivered ..good deal.

So nothing much else today.

Guess I'm going to hit the old fart sack.

Se yall tomorrow.

Say your prayers..

This winter I thought my truck was turning over slow so I checked the age of the battery. It was 5 years old which is about how long they last down here with the heat of summer.
So I ordered an Optima battery because I thought it would likely last much longer. It came today and tomorrow I will put it in the truck.

Sitting on the couch being absolutely worthless.

I should be outside cutting grass in the jungle that is my yard but I've got a zero care factor at the moment.
I had a hellish night and got next to no sleep so hanging off the end of a high pitched, vibrating 2 stoke whippersnipper is not something I'm up for ATM.
I'm pretty sure my body is casting a huge NO vote on an effort tomorrow as well.

Sorry about the court hearing, Meer. Sounds like your daughter has her hands full. Ours is a little different situation, none of the three can go back to their moms ever. No court hearing ever. They were taken away lots of times, and became the property of the state, and were going to be put up for adoption. So we know when we got guardianship, it would be till they're 18. The twins were really messed up 5 yrs ago, feral in my opinion. They are normal now, but we are very very strict. Little one has some stubborn issues, has had lying issues, and thinks she is the boss of all, but is coming around. She will fess up about lying now, especially if I stare at her long enough. Cracked up today, husband and I saw her walk out of her bedroom, shut and lock her door. I knew why. Ha. Her bedroom was a mess. Husband asked her, and she almost started to lie, and changed her mind and said her room was a mess. I told her to take a ten minute break, then get at it. She did. She's doing well, but all the kids were raised with no rules, manners, or common sense. We even have house rules tacked to the wall in the hallway.
Well, I finished painting half the laundry room today. Will finish the rest tomorrow.

So we had a wonderful time last night, and the wife's friend made a delicious (Keto friendly) salad and roasted poblano and chicken soup. It was so good my wife collected the recipe. We never got to board games because the conversation was so good it was 9:30pm before any of us realized it. Although at least 3 times the discussion turned to COVID-19, something we agreed not to talk about at the beginning as everyone is sick of the topic (pun intended). But as quickly as the subject would come up, we would switch gears and get back to speaking life and life more abundant. In a month or so we will invite them to our home and do it all over again.

Today is spa day for the Mrs. so I am running the house solo until late afternoon. Which means lots of chores, some food prep, grocery delivery, some vacuum sealing, and I have to install a Hogue grip on my SP101. I am sure a dozen other little things will come up in the process too. I know I have a daughter who wants to play a card game and a son who wants to shoot some Nerf guns at pop cans. So I will have to fit those in as well.

Amish all the kids are use to her and fairly disaplined from being around her so much all their lives but ntly is rough.
The judge did go against the 2 agencies giving daughter all the slack last month and let the kids be with their mother on weeks un-supervised.
Defax aka damily services is working with them and good people re really anti conservative leftest that hate Christian and they are racist. Mother of kids told her she she prays and the Family Treatment aka radical lib said " don't want to hear that munble jumble". They old white huy is hate filled radical too eorks fro Kids Asvacate Of The State. The lying abusive female radical work for Drug Treatment Court.
Daughter already has plan if daughter messes up ,28 yr old grandkid will take the 8 yt old, daughter will keep the 3 yr old and Tarzan.

My computer is actingup and and erasing some of my words ! Can't edit.

Already walked this morning and ran to local grocery for milk for DH. People aren't their normal selves--anxious and angry-ish. Local stores seem well enough stocked. Got last bottle of zinc at DG. I wanted fresh for this event.

Pruned all rose bushes yesterday and disposed of half of clippings. Going out in a few minutes to finish and put bleach on old concrete blocks on shed.

Then indoors to make fresh elderberry syrup and pressure can some potatoes that I got on sale. And take eBay photos.

Good advice for all .

Phone has been crazy today.
Everybody is calling to check on us, to make sure we're ok.
Appreciate it, but we are better off than they are. We are self isolated , self sustained, and getting ready to cook some beef on our little $25 gas grill.
No contact with people.

I even canceled the firewood guy.

It's cold 40 deg, raining.

Watching old westerns on tv, now that I quit answering the phone.

Good day to be lazy.

Jim

Solved a problem, I had. My "communication room" had zero wall space. I wanted wall space to hang a custom topographic map of the area round our home. I hinged a piece of 3/4" plywood over the basement window. The backside of the plywood (side facing the window) I painted flat black. On the room side of the plywood I hung the topographically map. The plywood swings up to the floor joists and a simple catch can keep it there. Now I can let light in or swing it down when I want the map.

All is good...until now I want to hang another large map.

Lowes (a big box lumberyard) has 2' x 3' galvanized steel sheet for $11.48. Two of these sheets will cover the hanging 3/4" plywood. I plan on using contact cement to attach the steel to the plywood. Then I will have a magnetic bulletin Board! I'll use magnets to attach the maps on the plywood. Rearrange the maps as needed (SHTF). Win win situation.

Aw c'mon! Post it!
Down here people are out mowing their lawns and doing yard work.
Situation normal.
Not a single sign of panic.
(I should have grabbed that <giant yawn> emoji when I had a shot at it)

Wife had a hen party today. One of the ladies was a bit upset because she saw two different Walmart customers with guns! From what description I could get out of her the guns were pistols and they were open-carried. Then I got jumped by the ladies. "Why would anyone carry a gun to Walmart!", they asked me.

I said with this media virus scare going on there are a lot of nuts out there. I asked them if someone was hurting them would they rather I stand there watching as I dial 911 or would they rather I stop the person that was hurting them? Ladies said they would rather I stop the person!

Then I asked them if they have a spare tire in their cars. Of course they asked. "Why" I asked. "Are they planning on having a flat tire?" "No". But if they have a flat...then I asked if they have fire insurance on their houses. "Of course!", they answered. "Why? Are you planning on having a house fire?" I asked. Again they answered, "No...."

Then I asked, "Wouldn't it be prudent to go to Walmart armed with the intent of not not needing it but have it if needed?

They ladies all started nodding their heads in agreement.

If I had lifted my shirt tail they would have seen a S&W M&P and a spare magazine on my right hip. 😃
