@MoBookworm1957 that is so nice your son has the support from family but what a shame he had to do it alone again. Prayers for him and the little one are needed always, and you. I thought Strawberry had tumbled you at least once and I was aware she was barking. Did yall decide not to have her go to your relatives'? I don't need another dog but i wish I could cuz she sounds like a little rascal.
@Bacpacker that business about your doorknob does not sound good. I figured a few people got their stimulus checks and think they'd better buy stuff instead of paying bills, buying more food, or saving it for a rainy day and hole in the roof. Maybe they did get a hole in the roof and that's why they were all there. I doubt it.

Bp and Patch. People are herding /social creatures. They have been cooped up for a month now. They are going to socialize whether it’s at the hardware store or a restaurant. Won’t stop it.
Jim. I think you are wise. Training one dog is a challenge. Training 2 is a marathon.
Long day here, nice, but long. Went to another town (that term used loosely- pop 150ish) to pick up a custom carving knife hubby had a fellow blacksmith make. I will try to get a pix posted soon. Nice knife. He got to do a little fishing along the way so that was good for him. We left right after breakfast and returned home right before supper. Night all.

Strawberry was going back to Service Dog school before this virus hit.
But now everything is on hold because they're on lock down.
They're are on lock down anyway, because they're a minimum security prison.
She's a trained seizure dog which is why she was going back to school.
This way she could have helped a younger veteran.
She was going to my cousin's house, but I was afraid my cousin's husband would have mistreated her.
She likes most men, but not him.
She can't get near him without baring her teeth, snarling at him.
He creeps me out, and I don't creep out easily.
Makes my skin crawl creeps out.

Been easy days since I helped with the deck beams. Just regular things to do
Did my laundry
Have to do hubby's today since he goes back to work tomorrow.
So it'll be back to the regular schedule then.
Got our breakfasts done
Spent time in the greenhouse this morning
Also started to rearrange the deck with things since its bigger

The tall "railing" is actually 4ft high fencing you can get. It was half price so hubby grabbed it. Works out great. I plan to use it for vineing plants ( cukes, mini watermelons, etc)

Just noticed Bella photo bombing the pic. Sneaky girl lol

Husband said Sams Club said we can pick up the order he made last week at 1:00 tomorrow. Some things they are out of. I hope they have my Nicorette, or it's not going to be pretty.

Please. PLEASE/ I am on my knees BEGGING you...Please do not smoke anymore
I like stories and here is mine.
I smoked 2 pack of Marlboro each day for over thirty years. If you did not like me smoking in a restaurant I would tell you to carry your ass outside..I even told my wife [NO JOKE} to put a lighter in my hand and a pack of Marlboro in my pocket when I was in the coffin.
So..I was not going to listen to anyone. I would tell you to F OFF if you typed what i am typing now.
Then. One day while I was building my house. i fell off the porch. and stopped breathing. DIED
right there. EMT busted my ribs and cut my throat getting me jump started. I was life flighted to the university. died 2 more times. brought back. I have meet the reaper and told him to KISS MY ARSE
I spent 30 days in the ICU had to learn how to walk again and had a trach in my neck

I collected the Marlboro miles, sent them in for cool free stuff. They last thing i got with my miles was a trach and a oxygen bottle. The trach is out. But I have severe COPD and am now disabled because of it. I had job that paid 95K a year with huge benefits now my disability is 20k and we struggle every month
that is my story. please do not let it be yours also

Ha Ha. Really?
My doc wasn't very concerned about it at my last physical. Said it ups my blood pressure, which I generally enjoy the feeling of, but that part of it isn't good for me. She actually gave me an RX for blood pressure meds and said I could use them if I'm chomping away nonstop, but wouldn't need it at all if I quit chewing. My lungs are in pretty decent shape after so many years of not smoking. I chew the smallest dose (2 mg), and switch between that and plain old mint gum.

Sleepy day, just watching the storms roll through. The first big storms hit around 4:30am. I let the chicken dog in, hates thunder. Other than the first few storms there has been nothing severe. There has been over 3 inches of rain so far. Might be 5 by midnight.

The first tornado watches for my area were just issued, might be a little dicey for the rest of the evening. These spin ups will be running closer to SW to NE that the ones last Sunday. Makes it a little harder to guess the path. Hey! I've been dozing all day so at least I'll be awake for next several hours.

Just trying to decide what to have for dinner at the moment.

@WVDragonlady nice deck! Looks like a great place to sit in the evenings.

He is a beautiful pup.
So playful, yet easy going.

I'm not real knowledgeable about Walker Hounds, but a little research has helped.

We are going to Foster him for 2 weeks, and if it works out for him and us...we can then adopt him.

Jim
Just in case you haven't guessed, that Walker coonhound pup has some Saint Bernard-ish genes in his blood. He'll be a giant love mutt, probably a great dog. But I'm thinking he'd be more than I could handle...

You might need a backhoe to clean up after him...

Off and on rain since I got up at 7 today.
We decided to go to 11:00 o'clock drive in church..it didn't rain at all for the service.
Showered on the way home.
We drove thru Arby's for fish sammiches for lunch.
Very good.
No rain so I go get the pup out for a run

I'm so happy that I did.

Here's how it went...
On leash we left the pen , me on golf cart..he was rearing to go, so I headed for back pasture. I noticed he was staying right beside cart. So I stopped by the fruit trees, called him over (he's in a 20 ' horse line) , he came , I treated him.
See I took the leash off and here we go...he is flying , I got cart wide open. He is not leaving my side. That's different, .
I stop , he comes right over , I treat him.
Can't believe , no leash he's staying within 4 ' .
Been wanting him in the pond to get rid of that kennel smell..so 3rd day we go around edge of pond, I stop on Levy, he walks over , walks into pond , swims out 8' swims back, and shakes off 10 times. Cool.
So we go flying all over back pasture again.
Now I'm up behind the garden.
Remember the hot wire I put up around it.
Guess who else is gonna remember it. Just as I was gonna holler come...he touched..
OMG , it was so traumatic for him.
He ran around the barn, all the way back to the other side of pond , just yelping.
I went over , he was really traumatized.
He got up on the seat with me and it took 1/2 hr riding to get him off and running again.
Then went back to the pen, NO LEASH , he went right in..we talked for a while then it started raining.
I'm impressed with his progress today , only a few minutes on leash, he showed he isn't afraid of water, he can swim, he really minded great today, goes into pen without problem, learned to stay away from hot wire, and not one time tried to jump up on me.
3 days.
I think he learns fast.

Jim

So we are all sitting at the table eating when the front motion alert goes off and 10-15 seconds later there is a knock at the door. Rotties go into snarly attack mode while the wife's dog sits and stares hoping someone will come inside and pet her. I check the camera. Young man walks up to the door, sets something down, turns around and walks back towards a car parked in the street. He gets in and drives away. Puzzled I open the door to see 3 brown paper bags stapled shut sitting on my steps. One has a receipt on it and all three have stickers that say "contact-free delivery". I go outside and instantly smell the aroma of BBQ. Bags have the store name on them so I call and sure enough the driver almost got the right address only he doesn't know his "drive" from his "court". Store manager apologizes and says "just keep the food with our compliments, and remember us the next time you are hungry for ribs". I bring the bags inside to find a couple racks of ribs, a container of pulled pork, some buns, some BBQ sauce, corn bread muffins, baked beans, coleslaw, and several packages containing a plastic fork, wet wipe, salt & pepper packet, and a big napkin. Enough food for at least 5-6 people. Before I even looked at her the Mrs. was already thinking about what to do with it. I ended up taking it over to our neighbors who are struggling a bit from the COVID-19 happening. Every day of the week my wife says "Through Christ we are made rich in every way so we can be generous on every occaision". I knew the second I saw the food we would be giving it away to someone.

Finished putting the solar panels on the roof. Wired the panels, joiner box, solar controller, battery bank, and inverter. Everything works! Tomorrow I will hook up the two house circuits that have the freezer and the refrigerator and then I am done and will have those two circuits off-grid. Then no worries if the power goes off. And I will likely save 2 or 3 dollars a month on the electric bill. The solar should pay for itself in less than fifty years.

Mo, I'm glad your son has family helping out giving him stuff. I felt so bad for my best friend when his house burned bc he's got a family of thieves & drug users so instead of trying to help him, they went to the burned house & stole whatever they could out of it. He got help from us at least, but it still made me sad that he didn't have family to rely on. I think you and Strawberry have good instincts about the cousin's husband.

Frodo, I'm so sorry to hear about that. I knew you'd had health problems, but didn't know the full extent or what exactly happened.

Jim, I'm glad to hear that Doogan is acclimating well.

Dragonlady, the deck looks nice!

Sentry, sounds like bad luck for the delivery guy but good luck for your neighbors. Very sweet of you to bring them the food. I hope they appreciated it.

Hiwall, Glad to hear the solar panel installation is going well. I'd love to get solar panels out here, but have no idea how to go about installing them or setting things up. We have a lot of power usage because the house has crappy windows, isn't insulated properly, plus the power goes to the workshop as well. Need to get new windows & insulate stuff to reduce energy costs of heating/cooling.

Mom woke me up an hour before my alarm was set. I was stretching and moaning to try to wake myself up & Princess scooted over to check on me. She gave my chin a couple of gentle licks & nuzzled me. She licks, but always very gently & not excessively. I started coughing so she scooted all the way to the end of the bed away from me & ducked under a blanket. When I was getting up she slid across the bed over to me and climbed into my lap to cuddle a bit. She's pretty good about moving as soon as I tell her "Ok, I'm ready to get up".

Mom wanted to go to the store with me. I popped in to Walmart to grab my RX and then drove to Samsclub. Not many people were wearing masks at Walmart & the hand washing things are gone. Went in to Sams and most people were not wearing masks. Some people had their kids there running around climbing on stuff. Some of the people wearing masks had them down under their chins so they were useless. I have a hard enough time hearing Mom over all the noise without a mask, but with the mask it was damn near impossible. She kept trying to talk to me while facing ahead, zipping ahead of me on the riding cart. I kept asking her to come back, stop moving, and tell me what she was saying. She complained that I kept calling her back & I said that it was because she wouldn't hold still long enough for me to hear what she was saying & I couldn't keep chasing her all over. Some people were laughing at the exchange as she was spinning in circles on the riding cart & I was asking her to just hold still a moment to communicate.

She got way ahead of me & I was winded from lifting cases of water. Apparently while we were separated, a man without a mask made eye contact with her, glared at her, charged over and got up in her space to glare at her for no apparent reason before silently walking away. No idea why, but good thing I didn't see it bc I would have throat-punched him. My allergies are still affecting my eyes so I had a hard time seeing in the store. My right eye keeps clouding up.

Picked up an order I set up & the guy tossed it in the back of the truck-- I'd wanted to put it in the back seat, but it was raining & it was just water bottles so I didn't care. Got home & my brother actually helped unload the water. I got them out of the truck bed and walked up the sidewalk to hand them to him, he took them up the steps into the house & set them down. He then unloaded the rest of the cat food and water from the back seat. I heard a crash & he told me he'd made a tower of bottles but the cat jumped on them and knocked them down. He left the blocking the doorway. I'll have to sort that out later. I sat on the couch to eat something & watch a bit of TV. Princess came and sat on my lap & wanted to be petted. She's been very cuddly today.

I'm currently in bed resting with Mewlatto on my left, Ginger on my right, and Princess in her blanket & pillow pile.

Went to a new-to-me county park I didn't know existed, less than 1/2 hour away from home. It has a river, several steep, rugged Creek valleys, a white trash campground, and several old CCC stone buildings. Some of the trails have cut stone slabs for steps, which was kind of cool. My daughter enjoyed crossing the creeks on the downed trees. I enjoyed just being out there. Will repeat...

WV, that deck looks great. Very nice job with it.

I got up early to make a run to Lowes. They were almost as crowded as yesterday, but the entrance to the lumber area wasn't to bad. Once I got inside I found they had the front pass thru roped off and 2/3 across the store. Apprently it was to herd the folks thru the registers, had to go to the mid point in the store and work you way up in lines. I only needed a handful of things and luckily they were all in the 1/3 of the store I was in. Picked up a door knob/lock, a mailbox, and went to the lumber department. Loaded 2x12x8's, 2x12x12's, & a 2x4x8, and a box of #10x3 exterior screws. Like to never found the 2x12x12's, they were on the 3rd shelf up and must have been freshly treated. Those suckers were heavy. Grabbed a worker and had him help me get them down. I don't need to pull or tear something right now. I decided at this point to only get enough 12 footers for one bed. They have a order online going and I'm gonna do that and go by to pick up the rest I need.

Got back home, replaced the mailbox, old one had seen it's better days. Changed out the doorknob on my shop. It was in such bad shape I couldn't get all the screws out, so had to drill it. Wasn't as bad as I expected. Got the new one installed in about 15 minutes.
Then I got started cutting up the lumber that needed to be. Assembled both end sections and set everything out and screwed it all together. Bed don't look half bad, 2' tall and 4x12. I wuz tuckered out by 7 tonight.
