Mo & Dragonlady, I hope your headaches go away soon.

We had thunderstorms today. I had another day of sleeping & not getting up much. When I did get up I cooked for Mom, washed some dishes, & wiped the counters down (cats keep dragging dirt on the counters).

My aunt Mary (Mom's oldest sister) called today because she wasn't able to get through yesterday. Sad to hear her husband is in bad shape. He needs radiation therapy for prostate cancer but can't get it until they deem it safe from Covid-19.

My orange cat, Rupert, has been obsessed with following me in to every room I've gone into today. He's currently curled up in the crook of my arm purring away. He's a very sweet cat. He knows his name, comes when called, and always wants to cuddle.

I made a special trip to the big town to get a new battery for the generator. Storms are coming again tonight. The bad weather won't be here until around 3am.

The weather man said there were supposed to be the random shower this evening... I thought carp! The peeps in the chicken pen will have no shelter. They didn't roost with the hens last night, just laid on the ground.

Well, it wasn't a random shower, rained continually for about 3hrs. I went to get the peeps and put them back on the porch under a heat lamp. They were soaked, so pitiful it was funny... "Waiter, a dozen soggy chickens to go please!"

Anyway, moved them, now it's almost midnight and still raining, almost an inch so far. I checked the radar, one continual rain storm all the way to the mississippi river.

Just watching the tv, waiting on the storms, low chance of a tornado but there could be 70mph straight-line winds.

Real estate lady coming by today with her contracts and market analysis. Youngest daughter coming for dinner. Alaska daughter coming home today, although her flight was changed again. Flights disappear as quick as they are booked. She leaves Barrow late afternoon, arrives in Seattle tomorrow morning, and sits there for 10 hours, then flies to Albuquerque.

I escaped the bad weather last night. I woke up around 3, sat up for a while. It just rained. I got about 2 inches total last night.

Another round of bad weather is supposed to hit this afternoon. I'm just going to sit a be a bum. I might piddle around the shop after lunch.

Rain is in forcast for the several days.
Doing nothing but crocheting on grand daughter's Christmas blanket.
Thumbing through my new book.
Sleeping.
Local small shops will be back in business on 5 May 2020.
Had a few close permamently, oh well.
You never knew when they were open anyhow.
Fiddle farting around basically.
Strawberry seems to think she needs to go back outside for the umpteenth time this morning starting at midnight last night in the middle of rain storm.

IMG_20200422_131301690.jpg

planted 2 weeks ago, still not up.
Will be replanting when dry.
Been too cold to germinate , can't hit the 70 deg mark.

Got most of the firewood moved yesterday to the wood shed.
Got some tree trimming done.

Nasty day today, cool, drizzly, wet.

Jim

We had rain, thunder and wind last night. Not too bad. More coming in a couple of hours.

I did get to walk this morning, then did short video.
Got huge Boston Butt roast in slow cooker, Cooked sweet potatoes in instant pot, have dog treat chicken in the oven and going to make a green smoothie soon.

Rugs are washed so will sweep in a bit.
Called H & R Block for appt. but they are closed today, so will call tomorrow.
English peas are up in the back garden. I fertilized both gardens yesterday before the rain. Only thing I haven't seen is watermelon sprouting.

Might do some eBay drafts later, might not.

Our governor just said she's allowing plant nurseries to do curbside and delivery. They've opened to the public where our son works. Ha. I think the sheriff will be visiting them again soon.
She also extended the stay at home order in our state to May 15th.
My local Ace Hardware is doing curbside pickup. You can call in an order and pick it up, or you can go to the door, which is blocked by a temporary counter, and order what you want.

I am working on a table that I found for free in an alley close to me that needs some work, but I have been looking online for months for one like this. I made a list for L-brackets, cream colored spray paint for the table and a few other things and did a rare outing to the hardware store yesterday.

Their seedlings are outside so we can pick them out and take them to the door-counter. I have been concerned about getting seedlings, and have a few started at home. I was able to get more onion sets yesterday. They never order enough and they sell out quickly, so my timing was perfect. They told me they had just gotten them in, but they were already almost out. I will have lots of onions this year and that makes me happy. I also got some cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage starts. I am feeling much more secure about my garden this year!

Our local feed store wants $25 to deliver. Already paying one company, for delivery who is too busy to answer the phone or site help wuestions.SHIPT ,which did deliver for Winn Dixie in less than 2 hours after the worker ran all over the store while I was on phone ,she was really something.

Since our soil is so full of clay, I want to add some sawdust to some for my 5 gallon potato buckets. I have been searching and searching for sawdust and have yet to find some. I may use pine shavings if I can't find saw dust and know that I can get some at one of the feed stores. I will do a curbside pickup, but it will quite a drive to get there. I am up for a drive though, but we are still being asked to stay home except for essential travel. I doubt they would consider this essential, but I do!

Break up some twugs ,maybe?:dunno:Plus they will feed the soil decomposing.

If you know of any woodworkers or cabinet makers, might ask if they have some. Most saws have the catcher bags - nice and fine but might not be a whole bunch.

Mo, I hope the crocheting goes well. I thought of you when I saw this link This Crochet Egg Apron Helps You Carry Tons Of Eggs, Perfect For Chicken Owners
My sister once crocheted a blanket for me. It was pretty but I was allergic to the yarn she used. LOL.
Jim, those peas look delicious. Picture made my mouth water. LOL.

Bad thunderstorms last night. All the rain kept triggering my bladder. I noticed my brother's light was on but he was in bed so I turned his light off for him. I sometimes check on him to make sure he's breathing OK. He needs to do a sleep study to see if he needs a CPAP when all this corona mess is over. I check in on both my mother & brother to make sure they are breathing sometimes. I don't do it as much as I used to. I did it constantly after my father first died. He died in his sleep & I'm the one who found him and saw he wasn't breathing. Mom had fallen asleep on the couch watching TV that night.

I'm planning to do some sweeping in a bit but I'm trying to get motivated. I'm sitting here with Rupert on my lap under my keyboard.

I did a search, but I know a few cabinet shops that have closed shop recently. I went to a feed store today and got pine shavings. I think they will work. I will mix just a little clay soil, some pine shavings and either peat moss or potting soil or both for my 5 gallon buckets.

I saw another person who sells seedlings and starter plants from his home. I texted him, drove there and got 2 chamomile plants for me and 10 strawberry plants for daughter. I have a couple 55 gallon plastic drums without a top that I would like to turn into planters with the openings on the side. There are a few people on YouTube who have made them.

I hiked all afternoon today. I walked near the stream that runs maybe a half mile from our place through a large meadow area. I have never spent much time in that area(I guess because it is flat and uninteresting). Today in many places near the stream I found a lot of bushes. I am wondering if some of them are berry bushes so I will be checking on them later this summer.

That bucket thing is cool, weedygarden. I hope your plants grow well.

I made lunch for mom, did some sweeping & cleaning in the kitchen, & chatted with my brother a bit. He said the apple cider vinegar with honey in it that I got for him is helping his throat a bit, but he wants to call the doctor to see if he should get more medicine in case it's a bacterial infection in his throat.

Sun is starting to go down & I'm trying to motivate myself to do something else productive but not sure what to do. I'm thinking of making some lasagna from a hamburger helper mix. Do mushrooms go well in lasagna?

My wife can not handle a 50lb bag of dogfood...a 40 lb bag of fertalizer,

So for the first time in 6 weeks or longer.. I had to go to Walmart.
OMG..
Had to stand in line, at social distance ,in the drizzlin rain, looking like a alien from space, goggles and mask.only one way in and out.

I don't care what I look like..I just was pissed off that only 1 in 10 hillbillies had a mask on.
All of them are idiots..they must not know what social distanceing is...cause they just walk all over you.

I did tell 2 hillbillies their mask goes over their nose not under.

I felt particularly dirty today when I left. I always feel dirty , but today was worse.

And , yeah they still wear pajamas.

If I never go back there again, twould be to soon.

Just can't fix stupid.

Jim

I had to go to the WM to pick up a prescription for the folks. It went quickly, got a couple of items for myself then beat feet out of town. I did get 50ft of 1/16th aircraft cable. I had planned on 100ft but it cost an arm and a leg.

Didn’t want to deal with peeps or a soggy chicken pen so I left them on the porch for the night. It’s supposed to be sunny tomorrow but rain again tomorrow night, carp! Wish everything could dry out for about a week, 11.5 inches of rain in the last 23 days.

I hope for a quiet night with plenty of sleep. At least I don’t have to worry about storms in the wee hours of the morning.

@Peanut , your mighty calm for a guy that went to Walmart today. :dunno:

My day went to crap in a hand basket this afternoon.
Neighbor's dog(Boston Terrier) got loose and rolled in something dead in the back yard.
That neighbor is up the incline to the left of me.
The ding bat neighbor who lives besides me dog(Pug) got loose and rolled in it too.
Give you three guesses as to whom was the third dog who rolled in something dead in the back yard.
Strawberry was covered head to toe, stomach to back and stink.
She got a much needed shower as I don't have a bathtub.
Then the bathroom tiles got scrubbed with the floor scrubber machine.
Have never seen the grout in those tiles so white.
Even the tiles are a lighter color and I scrub those tiles every week when I deep clean the bathroom.
Then the kitchen floor got scrubbed with floor scrubber machine too.
Strawberry sat with her back to me pouting for about 3 hours because she got a shower.
But she smells so much better now.
And she got shampooed with flea and tick shampoo.
She's sleeping on the loveseat now.
I'm tired.
I went to Wal*Mart this evening got a coffee pot as mine died yesterday.
Sitting here now sipping a fresh brewed cup of coffee.
Nice quite evening.
