Happy Cinco de Mayo! Viva Mexico!

I am sure this is a sore day for your Confederates knowing that had the Mexican Army in Puebla not defeated the French, they may have helped you to win the Civil War. But for me, celebrating French military defeats comes as naturally as eating meat and breathing air. Every year we celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some delicious foods from South of the border, a tale about the battle of Puebla, and some appreciation that no one in my region of these United States eats grits or says Y'all.
y'all can just kiss my grits!

The school I worked at for many years had a BIG Cinco de Mayo celebration every year. Mornings were spent out on the blacktop part of the playground with a mercado, all kinds of foods, pony rides, Mariachi, games, dunk tank. Afternoons were performances put together by each class. I liked it, but it was exhausting!
Well Y'all, if I was easy butt hurt I would take great offence at that comment. I'm a proud born and bred southerner. I had family on both sides that fought for the confederacy. And no they weren't wealthy slave owners. Far from it, they were poor dirt farmers.
Our principal would rail against Columbus at faculty meetings. We never acknowledged him, but principal would come around on September 16, another Mexican Independence day, and speak to each class, telling them what it was and how important it was. This was one of the few times she would show up in classes.Same with here, Weedy. And NEVER mention Columbus Day in this state.

Denver Public Schools had special training for classroom teachers who had native Spanish speaking children, and when they started school, they didn't speak English. It was called bi-lingual education. What I later learned was that principal. The training was many hours, maybe 120 seat hours for bi-lingual teachers and they were paid to attend that training. What I later learned was that it was indoctrinating teachers to all the wrongs that had been done and cultural things, and not one part of it was about how to teach bi-lingual children. Principal was one of the people who designed this Spanish bi-lingual training. This is what she then brought to faculty meetings that were two hours, when legally were supposed to be 40 minutes.
And, the bi-lingual education laws in America, that mandate that Spanish speaking children have this and that special help and allowances, do not even touch other languages. Spanish speaking children have their hands held for many years, but a French speaking child is on their own, as are all the other non-English language speakers, all over America.
That sounds tasty. How many pounds do you think you caught? I haven't had bass in a coon's age.Went bass fishing. It was a great day on the water. We put 20 good sized fish in the refrigerator.
I am worn out and sunburned.

The situation with meat is probably going to get much worse before it gets better. I want to get another freezer and put some beef from one of my cousins in South Dakota. That would mean a 500 mile drive each way to pick it up and get it home. Of course, one of the challenges is finding another freezer.Wife told me this morning that we probably should go buy some more meat .
I said , we got more now than we will ever use .
She said , but it's going to get very expressive , because there's a shortage.
I said OK.
I said , it's probably already very expensive.
And
There may not be any at our local meat market.
I was right on both accounts .
$7/lb ground beef
$6/lb center cut pork chops.

Returned late last night from visiting grandkids!
The State Capitals we drove thought, traffic was very light compared to normal (pre China flu) as was the traffic on the Interstates.
City where our children live the traffic was normal (heavy). I did see a few stores still closed, mainly specialized services like hairdressers, liquor and minor medical.
I upgraded the normal pocket pistol to a compact 45. No State border check points asking for travel papers.
Nothing like your own bed for a portable night's sleep.
