You're county is doing pretty good, then WVDragonlady. We get about 50 something cases a day.
My highlight today will be going to the post office and then cleaning floors. One of the baby chicks is developing a mohawk, so I think its a speckled spitzhauben. Granddaughter had a fit that the neighbor girls took one of their chickens to the vets yesterday. Actually the nighttime emergency vet. It was getting picked on. It is now a house chicken.

Listened to our governor address the stay at home order that expires on Friday. We will be on an improvised level one come Saturday. So, we still have to stay at home. But: churches can open at 10% capacity, non essential businesses can open at 25% capacity. Still closed: malls, restaurants, entertainment places, hair salons, other salons. Also Gallup, N.M. can't open non essential, and neither can 2 other counties. Everyone must wear a mask in public. Everyone. She says, "We're all in this together, New Mexico". And maybe we can get to level 2 in June sometime. It depends on our "behavior" if we reach our "goals" in June.
Husband will be looking like a hippy in a month. My cousin can give him a bowl cut.
I understand that Gallup has had one of the highest infection rates in the nation. Driving from Tucson home once, we ended up there around midnight, deciding to get a room. Everything was full that we could find except a very, very seedy motel, that we realized was obviously a local meth hangout after we checked in, but we were exhausted. Car was loaded and we were very concerned if we would even have a car in the morning. It made me wonder just what Gallup is like, if they have one of the nation's highest percentage of drug addicted people?
Did the tail light louvers yesterday.

They also make a louver set for the backup lights , all one piece that also is a license plate frame. To match the tail light livers.

Wife says, I got too much time on my hands. :dunno:
Was it worth it?

Looks lots better in real life.

Jim
Those louvers are pretty cool. Seeing your reflection made me flash on photos I took at the Vietnam Wall in Washington, DC. This was way back before digital photography and what I could see in my photos was my reflection. What a bummer that was for me.
Spent this morning filing a fraud report with my states unemployment agency.

Got an email from HR at work asking if I filed for unemployment. Apparently some scammer created an account using my name and SSN to try to scam some unemployment benefits.

HR has obviously denied the claim and I decided to report the breach myself as well.

Of course there's 0% chance of speaking with an actual individual, and actually going to a physical office is out of the question right now, so I had to resort to email to report the fraud.
Then I went to the Identity Fraud website for the Fed Gov and filed a claim there.

Mrs. Sparky is checking my credit files, but those have been frozen for years now, so nobody's opening any credit accounts in my name anytime soon.

My info had to have been exposed in some data breach, just not sure which one.

So frustrating...
Scammers seem to have nothing else to do except to sit around and scheme about how to take from others. They must think they are smarter than everyone else and can get away with it.

I am going to have a few do little or nothing days. I have to pace myself but I have wanted to get stuff done. I've been moving too many bricks and landscaping edgers, too many old cedar landscaping timbers, too many bags of garden amendments, too much digging and shoveling, mowing, and weed pulling. I have so much to get done before my garden is planted. I have been pushing it this week. After a busy morning yesterday, I came in to make myself a Greek salad for lunch, and while working on it, standing, the back went out. (Standing is always a challenge for me because that will put my back out. Walking is fine, never a problem) I can walk without crawling, but I could be crawling if I don't mostly sit down for a few days. One time I missed a week of work because of my back and crawling is what I did for a while then. I will do some sewing, some sorting of paper and files, while sitting down. And I will do some stretches and exercises for the back. Thankfully, we got a little rain yesterday, so I don't have to worry about watering today.

Change? Somebody say Change?
lemmie look at the dates on your change
I ''click clack'' I buy boxes of change from the bank, open them up and mine the rolls for certain dates and silver.
remove those coins, add noncollectable coins then return to the bankView attachment 42109
There is a guy who has a YouTube channel who does this. He has numerous videos about going through rolls of coins to see what he can find.

Many years ago, when I was a cashier in a restaurant, a man paid part of his bill with old nickels. I believe he had probably stolen them from someone, because no one would collect that many old nickels for who knows how long, and then buy a steak dinner with them at face value.

Did you grab the old nickles and replace them with new nickles?
That..is a good topic for an ethical conversation

We drive through Gallup often. Its either that or at least 50 miles extra. We stopped there twice then learned to never stop there. Gas is cheaper there but I never even get gas there anymore.

You must have had some experiences that helped you make that decision. I wonder how many people, like us, have no idea how bad a place like that can be? I guess we were really lucky that we did have our car in the morning and everything that was in it. The car was packed to the gills with goods from clearing out a home that an elderly man was vacating, to return to Canada and never to return. We kept the better stuff, such as flat screen televison, etc. There was a small group of people a few doors down, standing outside, watching us. They did speak to us, and we likely responded tersely, but we were exhausted and wanted to get into our nasty room and go to sleep. I think a 5 year old did remodeling for them.

I did grab them and have them in a box with some wheat pennies, $2 bills, etc. I don't have much of any of it, just what I have stumbled across.

here is a tip to spot silver in your cash drawer

you can buy boxes of coins at the bank, go through the rolls then return them
it costs you nothing to do this. i generally find 1 sometimes 2 silver coins per box
actual cost of box at the bank
Pennies $25.00
Nickels $100.00
Dimes $250.00
Quarters $500.00

Do they still sell bags of dimes or quarters?

They come from the mint in boxes. and the bank will not accept loose bags of coins. they want them in rolls. you can buy bags from coin companies. BUT..if the coins are not in a roll [bank] but loose. you can bet they have already been picked over

Gallup is seedy, but Espanola is far worse with drugs. Parts of Albuquerque are called the War Zone for a reason. About 8 or 9 weeks from now we'll be out of here forever. Looking forward to the slower way in Yoder, for sure.
I could so see how Yoder would be such a better place to live for you and the grands.
I've driven through Espanola, driving home from Santa Fe, taking 285 home instead of I-25. It didn't look the best to me either.

Be careful Weedy, I did the same thing to mtself yesterday only it was duct and sweat that took me down.

You have to wonder if you would have ever gotten your packages if you hadn't made threats. Absolutely crazy that they had the packages hanging around and couldn't be bothered to deliver them.
I don't make threats.
I follow through with statements.
If I say I'm going to be filing complaints with BBB, Consumer Reports and Fraud Hotline.
Then that is what I do.
My shoes were delivered this morning at 1234 hours.
My new shoes hurt my feet too.
Will wear them this weekend to see if they feel better.
If not back they go to Wal*Mart.
By the way if you shop on line, but don't like to shop at Wal*Mart.
Better check who the parent company is, 9 times out of 10 it's Wal*Mart.
For instance: Land's End, Banana Republic,Shoes.com are all Wal*Mart companies.
If you buy a candy bar at a gas station and that candy bar came in on truck line called McClain or something like that.
It's a Wal*Mart company. If your medicine is delivered to your pharmacy by MeKesson truck line.
It's Wal*Mat company.

Walking around in my new shoes that also hurt my feet.
Have decided just going to buy American Made shoes.
These were Poditry(foot doctor recommended), but unfortunately now they came out of Vietnam.
Their size 5 and American size 5 shoe are totally different.
These new shoes fit like an American size 3 kid shoe.
Which I have several pair.
Strawberry and I are just chilling right now.

Are the new shoes leather?
if they are. get them wet. put them on. and wear them till dry
the leather will conform to your foot. I do this every time I buy a new pair of boots
after they have dried, they will fit like a glove

You're county is doing pretty good, then WVDragonlady. We get about 50 something cases a day.

Yes but see our state is very rural.
We have a National forest in the middle of the state and eight state forests too. So a big section isn't inhabited and separates people and towns.
Our largest city is the capital and it only has 49,000 people in it lol
The bigger town I live near has only 17,500.

We got torrential rain this morning , making everything soupy.
Ran the mutt for a little while...too wet out there.

Went to small town , AutoZone..picked up some coolant bypass caps, and bypassed the throttle body coolant on the Vette. I don't live in the artic , don't need hot (230 deg) throttle body.

I put my engineering cap on and decided to put a hose back on the inlet , with a funnel on the end , placed it down below the front entrance...figured some cool air will be forced through the throttle body cavity...cool air is more oxygenated.. more effecient. :dunno:
That took about 2 hours.

But I gotta tell ya, the humidity (dewpoint 70deg ), and 85 deg temps made inside the house at 72 deg feel like a fridge.

Gonna go pick up our supper in a few min.

Then may take Doogan out for some exercise.

Then rest.

Jim

I chuckle when I hear y'all talk about places like Gallup. It's been a couple years, but I stop there fairly regular when I'm working in the Southwest. It's definitely a bit lower class there, but compared to Oakland or East L.A. it's pretty mild. In Shiprock I'm guessing the substance abuse problems you're seeing may be related to the larger number of Indigenous Peoples there. I work with several Navajos from around there and even they say it gets pretty bad...

I probably didn't replace the nickels with other nickels, but rather with cash. The manager told me I was the only person who worked the register where the till was exact to the penny at the end of the evening.

Have a migraine coming on.
Weather is changing.
Any part of my body that has been injured.
And a lot has, aches.
Got one of my printers reconnected to laptop this evening.
Course I bought the wrong ink for the wrong printer.
Fed Ex will be picking up my new shoes to return them Wednesday morning.
That's funny, UPS brought them.
Fed Ex is picking them up as return.
Another trip to Wal*Mart tomorrow.
Son has car right now.
He picked up grand daughter early for the weekend.
Got my internet bill from when son and grand daughter stayed with me.
Good think Thursday is his payday.
Whew!

My printer is running low on ink, but I got more, setting right beside it . . .
. . .
That ink is for a different printer. I bought it when I thought I was going to get that printer running again. Hah.
Why did I leave that ink beside that printer?
Hah.

The price of printers has dropped 300 to 500% in the last 10 years. The price of ink continues to rise.

I finally made the break this last printer. The price of a good printer that does everything I need (including quality image scans) is less than the ink cartridges. When this printer runs out of ink it goes in the trash... and I buy a new one.
