I hope your wife will get quality care and be home soon, Jim!

Did video first thing this morning. I am down to a third of a prednisone today and tomorrow and that's it. My thumb has most of it's mobility back. Gained back the five pounds I lost 3 weeks ago. Oh well. Will be at it again!

Went to Church this morning, came home and walked dogs. Set up DH's meds for two weeks and then my vitamins for a month. EBay photos and then on to rest this afternoon!

Got home late Saturday night after driving 600 miles home.
Church.
Fellow church member is a VFW honor guard. Gave him a wall hanger M1 for parts.
Resturant of wife's choosing.
Unload RV.
Chicken chores.
Update a website I manage failed. Believe problem is on Providers end. Contact them Monday.

Wife had 4 areas CT scanned.
Found pulmonary embolism, found L4 in lumbar fractured.
Admitting her , and surgeon will be in later to discuss surgery...again.

But I had to get ugly , to get them to look everywhere to find the source of pain. :dunno:

Jim

I'm so sorry she is having all this happen to her, and you too of course all this stress can't be good for your condition.
Hubby and I both pray for you guys every night.
I wonder if there are any better doctors in a nearby town. Probably about the same though anywhere you go now. .:huggs:

Back in ER with wife .
For 4th time since 8/7.
Been downhill since the stone crusher on Thursday.
They just can't get her fixed right.

Getting ready to lawyer up for hospital malpractice.

My best friend , Doc , said he would help.

This is ridiculous.

Prayers appreciated.

Jim
You got it Jim.
Prayers for Mrs Jim.
Prayers for Mr. Jim too.

Aren't gun prices at a premium right now? I read yesterday or day before that 5 million people purchased guns this year. A month ago I noticed the display case at the local gun shop was mostly empty. The prices of what they did have seemed high. I'm not in the market, just curious.

It has been over 15 years since I bought a gun. A few years back I was browsing handguns and the current prices don't seem that much higher.

I added your wife to our prayer chain.

Pa made it home from the hospital again Friday. We escaped for the weekend and went camping with no service. I told Mom where we were and how we could be reached if needed, also had a couple of backups if needed- none were 🙏. Hubby caught 3 nice sized trout over 12” and several smaller ones- threw all back. Was a short but wonderful getaway. Returned today. Stopped and saw parents on the way home. Dad looks better than he has in some time. Got home, picked 2 gihugant bowls of tomatoes. Canned a dozen jars for the folks since Mom hasn’t had time. 3 jars for us (to fill the pot) and 6 1/2 pints of sauce. Still have 2 bowls to do. Will give some to Mom for sauce and will dehydrate some. Will give remainder away. Hubby’s folks like them too 🍅. Tomorrow is back to work.

@Amish Heart I have seen a lot of people here over the years put goats, bottle calves and even piglets in their car trunk. I couldn’t imagine the mess by the time they got home. Even seen them put them inside the car.

My truck had the wheel bearings go out the morning we were supposed to get the animals to the fair. I had 2 goats, 2 chickens and 2 rabbits in my car. Oh, the Kid! Can't forget her. She was keeping the goats from chewing on things.

They kicked me out , once they put her in a room.

Jim

Wow. Hope she gets everything taken care of soon. I've had about enough of Dr's and sometimes you have to be a real @#$%^ to get them to listen and keep testing.

Well yesterday worked out okay, I managed to finish the island base, install all the cabinets, get 11 drawers installed, and put the handles on.... Now I need to cut the butcher-block to size, shape the edges, sand, apply the finish and install. I hope to have that done by Friday. I have a 1 page do list on this project (8pt font) and I am down to just a few lines. I'll be so glad when I can burn that piece of paper. :) Today is a work day, so I won't be able to do much on the kitchen till this afternoon. For lunch today I plan to make venison-sloppy joes, that will cover my lunches for the whole week :)

I'm going shopping for a new gun safe to store ammo. With ammo being expensive and hard to come by I need to secure it. Right now I keep all my ammo in a wooden cabinet in my shop and it is not secure so it's time to fix that problem.
I might see if anyone has a gun I really can't live without, like a Sig P365XL. That's wishful thinking because they are hard to find in normal times.
We might even be able to go into a restaurant to eat today for the first time since March.

Jim, I hope you see big improvements in your sweet wife today.
My favorite cousin will be calling soon, after she hears fro m her brother if we can see his wife today. She is in her last days, at home on hospice, and is such a wonderful lady. One of my favorite people. If it works out, I'll pick up my cousin, and husband and I will stop in with her. Probably a trip to the bigger town today with favorite cousin's daughter in tow. Her and her husband are on the board for the Amish school (which starts tomorrow) and they are having a photocopier malfunction, need a new one and new cartridges. Returning extra cartridges for the old one. Maybe a stop off at Aldi, too, depending on husband's patience level. I'm sure he'll be the driver.
Grandkids off to school ten minutes ago. They were ready, but not with the same enthusiasm as last week. 7:00 bus is early.

You still have fair? All of our events have been canceled. (But we are in a super Nazi state.).

Might ask a local locksmith if he/she knows of any jewelers safes. We got one for free because it was so heavy to move then just had to pay for a new lock as nobody knew the combo to it. Still a great deal for the quality of safe.

Update.
I got to hospital at 6am , and the surgeon that we like, walked in right behind me,

We had a long discussion about what's going on.
Long story short...he is going to do surgery later this afternoon, squeeze her in, to repair L4.

Lumbar repair is somewhat easier to fix. and he said the pain from a lumbar fracture is more intense .

New rule, I can stay all day as long as I wait in her room.
So it's gonna be a long day.
But I need my beautiful bride back on her feet , pain free, at home.
Nothing worse than seeing one you love in such pain.

Appreciate the prayers.

Hope to have good news later today.

Jim

Thank goodness the dr is ok and you can visit or stay more often.Sure hope the surgery is successful this time and she gets releif.:huggs:for you and Mrs.Jim

The biggest problem is that they're all specialist , upper back, lower back, left kidney, right kidney , knee , shoulder, they can't look all over and solve the problem.

Almost like they're union.

Jim
I am so sorry! I cannot tell you how angry this makes me, that she is in such pain, and they cannot figure it out! I have never had much luck with doctors. I talk, they don't listen, but are quick to condescend.

I my discussion this morning, I made it clear that I want her fixed, that they need to listen to us ,and stop it with the tunnel vision.

I also made it clear that if I heard one more mention about a nursing home , that we are gonna have some serious problems.

I think I finally got their attention , when I told them the hospital administrators name and that he and I are good friends.

Jim

Knowing higher ups always helps Jim. My wife worked for the chief of surgery at an area hospital, both in his office and providing child care for many years. He made sure she got the care she needed. Always lined us up with the right drs.
Glad they are getting her in today and getting her fixed up. Prayer going out that this takes care of the pain.

Jim we are all hoping and praying you two find releif from this past few months of trying times . Maybe check on some in home care to help you with this while she is in the hospital? I don't know just thinking its what we would have to do since we live so far from family plus they all have busy lives. Or temp house keeper .
I don't know of course what is best for your situation. Just think you need some help with all this being thrown at you at once. We worry about you too after last heart episodes.
IMO its best to stay home as long as you two can once acute illness that requires hospital stay or urgent care. We set up hospital bed, have walker and other things that may come in handy for home care.
I got a lesson caring fro mama when she had lung cancer, had her all set up in our then nice room with plenty of windows and rented bed, oxygen tank and handicap toilet. All come in very handy so we have them now for ourselves. Bed takes off pressure points by lifting up legs or upper body. Hubby said it is very comfy too he uses it now and then

You're awesome, @phideaux Jim! Glad to hear things are swinging that direction. After praying, I just kept thinking positive thoughts for Mrs. Phideaux and you and hoped you were trying to stay positive too. Full of hope and faith but knowing you were going to have to be the one in charge of the staff. They work for us doggone it.
I've been busy this morning on the job but it's time to start throwing my resume around.

Thank you for the encouragement.

I'm fine, just a little tired.
@Meerkat , we have all that stuff in our house, 2 portable potties , 2 walkers, canes, 2 shower seats.. mostly from VA ,and home healthcare is avaible daily ,

I'll take care of her , whatever I have to do.

If I can get her past the pain , I know we will get her back up and going/sewing.

It is hard sitting around the hospital days on end, but it's also hard sitting at home worrying about if she is being taken care of properly.
Hospital staff ain't what it use to be.

I'm telling the nurses and doctors,
I got to get her well so she can take care of me.:D

They just said 2 pm she will go to surgery.

Jim

Jim now knowing you like we do I should have known you are prepared, lol. I hope time flys for you two till she is home again. We are still with yall in spirit too.

I don't have COVID-19, so that's good. I am finally free to move about the world unimpeded again. Two officers are now out with positive tests and another is under quarantine waiting for test results. Because of all this the state has set up new rules about meetings, using common spaces, sharing work areas, etc. Avoiding Covid-19 is becoming a full time job around here.

The very weekend remodeling projects are also going well with one bedroom update complete and another well underway. I am hoping to be done with bedroom #2 this upcoming weekend and start on #3 right away. The project was delayed as we all volunteered to do some painting and remodeling at the church in the youth areas. I gave a few hours a couple times, as did my wife, but our teenagers really put in a lot of work.

The family room/ home school classroom is also coming along nicely, although we have had some problems getting the desks we ordered. So right now they are using a table instead. On that topic, so far homeschooling is less work than I expected it to be and my kids really like wrapping up their daily education in 2-3 hours without all the pointless fluff and filler. And from what I am seeing, the curriculum we are using covers way more info than my kids received in public school.

All of my friends and a few neighbors with large gardens apparently decided I must be in need of vegetables, because we received box after box and bucket after bucket of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, zucchini and more this past weekend. The same day my wife was harvesting our small garden. So now she and our daughters are going to be doing some cooking and canning this week.

Finally I have found myself OFF the internet for the most part of the last 3-4+ weeks and I can tell you it now only greatly improved my productivity, it also has been highly cleansing for my spirit. I don't know how many times someone has said to me "Did you hear about _______!?" and I had not only not heard about it. I also asked them not to share it with me. Plus we have had a lot more family time, I have been shooting more, the kids are much more active, and I have been helping my wife with her side businesses which are really starting to take off. We are truly living a blessed life.

Hope everyone is well here, and for those of you who are not you can count on some prayers coming your way as I read through this thread.
