Got all the stuff done by lunch for all the guys that were out today, plus one training module that expired on me yesterday. This after noon was spent printing off, reviewing, and sorting 30 resumes for the tech position in my group. Only had 3 that seemed like a decent fit and I already had them from other folks I work with or one I pulled out from a previous interview and had marked up for future needs. Gonna dig back thru them tomorrow and see if I missed one. If not 2 of the guys I think would be a good fit anyway. There will be 3 of us doing interviews so I'll get those guys opinions before I state mine and see if they see something I didn't.

View attachment 50217View attachment 50218View attachment 50219We drove down to West Fork Arkansas today and picked up a new guardian for Peckerwood Farm. She is a Cane Corso and her name is Baci pronounced Bachi it means kisses in Italian.

RA clinic went very good, it makes for a long day though, we left at 9:45am , had lunch afterwards, got home about 3:30.

I sold another gun today ,dug it outta the safe , checked it out, cleaned it. Guy is coming in the morning.
So far I'm getting about a 50% return on my money.
Little better than the bank. Great market for selling guns. Listing one everyday.

Got friends coming this week to buy my John Deere X500, lawn tractor.

Got a couple little project chores outside tomorrow, then hopefully I will get to research and shop for a new Coffee maker.

Trying to downsize and prepare for buying a house when we finally find one we like.

Gonna start selling all my woodworking machinery soon.

This whole thing is bittersweet for me.

If wife's pain isn't better by end of week we will be going for another CT scan .

Life sneaks up on us and we too are thinking about things. Hope you find the right place soon. We don't know if leaving or staying is best.

Grimm, I've had friends with cats that lived to be 23, but it all depends on the cat. 16 seems to be the oldest for mine. My 1st one would have lived longer than 16 but a hunting dog killed her. I was 11 and the dog came in our yard and tried to attack me. She jumped in to protect me.
Lost a few to cancer, 1 to poisoning (I suspect my neighbors were the culprits), and another to heart failure.
I'm hoping my current cats will live longer.
I'll recount my day later. Sleepy.
Jim. I'm glad the RA clinic is helping.

Yesterday, work went long, 07:00 - 18:00, by the time it was over, it was all I could do to get supper cooked...

I am in the clean up phase of my home project so at each break I go grab a tool, clean it, and put it up.... I have some trim work and painting left to do but at this rate I will be done by spring......

This morning I put in a load of laundry and am getting ready to start my work day. Hope everyone has a great day.

Taking mom to get her taxes done today. I'm sure that'll be interesting. Ha. My Florida sis is in charge of this part of mom's life, but is not getting on an airplane right now with covid. She's holed up in her house, and is a writer, so she can do that. So she's sent most everything to a lady at HR Block, so we'll have to make sense of it and explain to mom. Going to my cousin's afterwards, it's time to get the honey from the hives. That's alot of fun.

FYI.

I had a friend with terminal bone cancer. He had three large gun safes full of his lifetime collections. His wife (according to him) was going to scrap all of his firearms upon his death. So he started to sell them. He said he received a letter from ATF requiring him to attend a meeting at the ATF office. ATF was investigating him for selling without a license. He attend the meeting, explained why he was selling and ask what could they do to him since he was dying anyway? ATF left him alone.

I don't understand how ATF knew he was selling when he was selling face-to-face.

Good morning HCL!

It's 0730, I've been up for an hour, and I haven't done a darn thing except for eating breakfast. I've got nothing on my schedule until 3pm so I might keep doing nothing and see if I can finish doing nothing this afternoon. Or I may leave some nothing to do tomorrow! ;) Daughter has an orthodontist appointment at 4pm in Des Moines and then Dance Class from 8-10 pm tonight so I will get to play chauffeur for all that...

My cats as a child lived to be 11 and 21. I had to put the 21 yr old down as she had cancer in her jaw and would not eat. The other died of old age in the yard in her sleep.

The cats K and I have had since we got married have lived to be 4 (liver failure), 13 (old age), 1(fatty liver), 1(heart attack) and kidney disease at 5. We did a lot of rescuing and fostering. They were street cats or ferals that were sick when we got them. The cats we have now are indoor only and have been since they were kittens. All but one are older than the girls- 14, 12 and two are 10. The kitten just turned 1 in April and is the girls' cat but he sleeps with me.

Not doing much today.
Got pick up grocery order at butt ugly early in the morning.
Better to be safe I guess then in hospital.
Just about got my place back together from having grand daughter.
She should have culture shock come Saturday.
When she and her dad come by we're going sugar free.
Haven't felt good since she left.
Figured it was all the junk food we eat when she's here.
So we're going sugar free.
Going to be eating vegetables, fresh too.
She's getting tall or I'm getting shorter.
Jim,
Glad Mrs. Jim had good report.
Off to do research on Air fryer.
Strawberry has Vet. appointment coming up next week.
Going to be checking her girlish figure, see how much weight she's lost etc.

Update,
Well that severe lower back pain the wife has had for the past 6 weeks , after 2 surgeries to repair 3 vertebrae, 2 surgeries to get a kidney stone crushed is still there, and getting worse by the day .
Called surgeon, he said take her to ER.
They are absolutely missing something.
She's in so much pain it's making her sick.

I'm about to lose it with these people.

We are discussing our options, I'm for going to ER.

This is terrible, maybe time to change doctors. Ask your freind whsy he would do. No sense in her suffering like this or you having to suffer with her, this is BS. Makes me upset that they can't help her. Not good for either of you.

Grimm, I'm glad you rescued cats. We did as well.
Jim, I hope they figure out what is wrong. I also hope the ER will treat her better than I was treated when I had a back injury.
Got woken up around 6:40am by my friend's baby crying. The mother had put him in a baby swing thing in the living room with us so he wouldn't be as loud if he cried in her room. My friend couldn't hear the baby. My mother tried holding the baby but he wouldn't stop crying and started screaming. Around 7am I went and woke his mother and told her the baby needed her. She grumbled "he's been crying all morning!" and pulled the covers over her head, refusing to get up. 10 minutes later my brother put the baby in the crib in the parent's bedroom. My friend was still out and didn't hear him
Another 10 min later and my brother put the screaming baby directly on top of the mother. She sat up, started swearing and screamed at my friend to wake up and take care of the baby.
She acts like a child. She desperately wanted a baby bc her best friend was having one but now she doesn't want to take care of him
She yells and cusses at him whenever he's crying. She has trouble changing diapers by herself and screamed that she hates the baby when he peed during a diaper change. She should never have had a baby.
Now my friend has to work, take care of the baby, and take care of his grandfather.
Sorry, I'm venting bc it's hard to get decent sleep when there's a baby screaming and/or a girl shouting for hours.

I hope they have figured out her pain by now, Jim! Chronic, extreme pain is so hard to deal with!

I was awake at 3AM this morning. Stayed in bed til DH got up at 5. Started laundry, cleaned both bathrooms, started roast in slow cooker with potatoes, cream of mushroom soup and homemade onion soup mix. Then I walked, fed dogs and then walked them.

Made a 3 bean salad, toted a bale of hay to back shed and went to local grocery for a couple of items.

Doctor called and they are lowering my thyroid meds again. Yay! I started at 200 mcg and will now be at 75 mcg. 5th time they have been lowered!

And we will have company with dog and cats for a week or so. I will be cooking. Tomorrow will be PC sweet potato day!

Maybe see a regular medical doctor? I don't know.
We just did , last Thursday, she is wife's primary care doc.
She gave her a steroid shot to see if that would help. Ordered oxygen for her, that helped with her breathing.

She will monitor the blood clot to see how that's doing.
And she's the one that sends her to see specialist like urologist, surgeons

My cat was sick all weekend so I took him to the vet yesterday. They ran tests and today it came back as a lot of bad things. Liver, kidneys, adrenal glands, cat COVID, plus some other things. So we had to make the hard decision to put him down. He was 16. He had an easy life and was well cared for and that's about all anyone could ask for. He will be missed, all the other animals have been looking for him.

Very sorry to hear about your wife's ongoing problems. My Dad was in constant pain for years, had multiple surgeries, more doctors than I can remember and they never did figure out what his problem was. My brother has been going through something similar for years.
I know a lot of people that have chronic pain and it seems to never be resolved.
My wife and daughter are both in that club, unfortunately.

I agree with the ER if she wakes up still hurting. And tell them 'nicely [ which I know is hard when ifs this confusing ] they are going to have to do something or give some answers. Just my opnion notsure.

"I think therefore I dig."

The Princess is on vacation this week so she has helped out with the digging.

I crawl under the floor and jackhammer out a pile, drag the pile out from under the floor with a hoe where The Princess can shovel into 5 gallon buckets. Then she moves the bucket to the roller conveyor and says"Weeee" as it rolls down to me. I move the buckets to the skip hoist, after I have 6 on the hoist I run them up out of the basement and load them into the powerwagon. After I have 12 buckets in the powerwagon I run it out to the woods to dump them and rake it out.

Lather rinse repeat

We have been doing 36 buckets a day before she is done. I noticed she is now strong enough to move a bucket with one hand instead of two and she has developed muscle definition in her forearms.

With her help we are pushing about 96% done with the digging.. Yay!

So that is a typical type of day for us.

If you're looking for us look in the hole.

Behave!

Today wasn't bad. Work went well, but found out 2 techs and one office staff down in TN have tested positive to COVID-19, only 1 is in the hospital right now. All 3 cases were traced to visiting out of town family....

After work I mowed the lawn, till it was dark 99% done...

Picked up a metal bullet trap for 22 rim fires online, plan to use it with my air rifle (got it sighted in on Sunday). Set up the backstop and trap, used a paper target on a square of 1/2" sheet rock. Fired 2 pellets just to see what would happen, not too loud, clean holes in the sheet rock, shook the pellets out of the trap completely flat as if you had melted them on a metal plate. I'll bet that will give mister squirrel a head ache...

For dinner we had split pea soup (paste, wife can't make soup) and corn bread.
Have a nice night

Took Juju to pick out a toy from Target. On our way home we stopped to pick up some groceries. There was a bat loose in the store. He was flying mostly close to the floor near the meat department. He came within inches of us as we stood and watched him fly around. It was definitely something to remember. For Juju it is a memorable birthday to say the least.

Birthday candles were on clearance so I grabbed the last 3 packs on the rack. With all of our birthdays in the fall and winter I figured they would be good to have.

Came home and baked Juju's cake. It is cooling right now. I'll cook dinner then make the raspberry buttercream and ice the cake. I tried a better than box mix cake recipe and the batter was to die for! I can't wait to see if the recipe is really as good as I think it might be.

The only other doctors would be at Vanderbilt in Nashville , 1 1/2 hr drive.

Supposedly we have the best Neurosurgeon in the area.

I honestly believe they are so focused on fractured vertebrae that they are missing something.

Jim
Prayers going out for your Jim, Mrs. Jim.
Will keep you in my thoughts during this trying times
