As I finished my lunch got a delivery... UPS man hates me. 50 pounds of Flour, 2 cases of tomato products, and 10 containers of mixed nuts; the poor man looked like he was going to die. Then he went back and got the smallest box, he had to use a hand truck for it! Itty bitty box, he says to me what the heck is in this, lead?.....

I'll be headed out the door in a few to go to the surgical center where they will remove the 7 stitches from my foot surgery 2 weeks ago. It'll be nice to quit walking like Festus, or actually Walter Brennan. I know you young'uns are scratching your heads thinking...."Who the heck are them people?"
He played "Featherhead" in "The Princess and the Pirate".

We just watched that movie last weekend.

DON'T SAY CAN'T!!!!! That is like calling on the GODs to teach us a lesson about CAN'T

Got the kitchen counters decluttered yesterday. It was 90% food storage. The goal is to get the whole kitchen decluttered and better organized by the end of the month. Today I am working on a cleaning calendar for the kitchen with Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly chores. I will adjust it if new chores need to be added or taken off.

The girls are enjoying this last week off before school starts up again.

Did the grand son trip in the Vett turn out ok?

Yep, he brought it home Sunday night.
All washed and clean.

He said he got lots of compliments on it....of course he didn't deny that it was his.
He said he loved it and it was lots of fun.

Said he only had 1 race from a red light.
It was a Mustang, he said he won .

I trust him 100% .

Well thats good, and I figured not much would win a race with that Vett.Especially anything they got on the road today and glad he had a safe and fun trip.

Grilled chicken and country ribs today.
Did personal year end filing.

DH's friend that was in jail is out. He paid the 1000 plus fee. DH signed for him. He better show up for court! Actually, DH will drive him there. Nice to have his stuff and dog out of the house and return to somewhat normal! He managed to keep his rental. We paid it with his bank card. Big sigh of relief!

Today I scrubbed down the shower stall and started scraping of the old caulking. No wonder I put off this project. I will continue the scraping tomorrow and then clean up the seams with acetone. Maybe caulk it? Time will tell what I get done.

Ben

I knew that but I preferred the more obscure.

That was a very silly movie.

How about "My Darling Clementine"? Now that was a great movie. Brennan was great as a bad guy. I haven't seen it in at least 20 years...

I picked up the big dog this morning. Have to take him back to get the stitches out in 2 weeks. Price wasn't bad, only $103. That included a ear surgery/rabies shot/bath/toenails trimmed. The dog carried up part of a deer carcass Saturday, he stank like rotten meat. The girl who gave him the bath helped me get him in the truck... she was funny, said "what on god's green earth was he rolling in"? "Are you burying people in your backyard"? lol!

That's funny. Whenever we go to classic car shows and see the big old cars (50's-60's) I often comment "You know how many bodies you could fit in that trunk." Some folks laugh, some look scared 🤪

Jim, I'm so glad your wife is pain free and feeling better!

Yesterday I did finally go for a walk. Then I went down to the barn to see how much more it is falling apart I found some carpet remnants that were falling out of a bag. I managed to salvage some of them and put them in the workshop. My cats were trying to get in so I chased them away. One of the cats was missing all night and today so I went back down there to check. I was calling his name and heard him meowing from inside the workshop. Poor baby was locked in all night. He didn't seem any worse for wear though, he was ecstatic to see me and kept rubbing against my legs and wanting cuddles. I brought him up to the house and gave him some chicken. I think he's back outside gain though-- probably wanted some fresh air. He'll likely be in here tonight though. I haven't checked to see if he caused any damage inside the workshop. I'll check that out later.

My brother had a doctor's appointment. He's up to 299lbs and his sugars were high. The medicines to help with his blood sugar aren't helping. His current health insurance refuses to cover some of the meds he needs that were helping. He had a once a week shot that really helped but he's going to have to take daily shots. Tomorrow my quarantine ends so I will take him to get an X-ray on his hip (which doctor ordered bc of some issues he's having) and to pick up his insulin and syringes.

Talked to my friend online. I'm going to see him tomorrow and see if we can work on some projects. I need to get a bunch of measurements to plugin some things to Sketchup for some cabinet planning.

While I'm feeling a bit better, my head is still not clear and I have a sinus headache so I'm going to take a little break and maybe nap since I was up and walking a lot today.

Went for a walk this afternoon, as soon as I got in the truck it started to sleet, I almost stopped right there but didn't. Got to the wilderness area with 2 hours of light remaining, still raining/sleeting and went on in. It was so nice and quiet; I saw some small tracks with a scrape, and some other sign. Mapped that out, moved about a half mile and repeated. The second place I went in was a place I hunted back in the late 90s, saw a little more sign there. The third place was where I used to watch deer move across a ravine, then I saw 3 nice does doing just that. I was so glad to see that there were at least some deer left. I did see a couple of squirrels (after all I was supposed to squirrel hunting) but I didn't take a shot. When I got home the wife asked me if I saw any “Squirrels” and I said yes, then she said you didn’t bring any of those things home did you? I said, “Couldn’t have, didn’t take any bullets. But to be on the property you have to be hunting. I found what I was hunting for.”

There is a late gun season on Friday :) Still trying to decide if I want to go for a walk on Friday or not, might be best to just let it go for this year, after all the freezers are still full.

I am so proud of myself that I have to share. Yesterday I cleaned out my closet. I had put some boxes in there just been adding junk. DH took 5 boxes of stuff to Mission today. Gave my girlfriend clothes for her daughter and granddaughters. Today I swept and mopped whole house. Cleaned bathroom, changed bedding. Cooked a roast in crockpot. Grocery shopping from pantries and freezers. Doing my own version of a pantry challenge.

You have every reason to be proud of yourself. I bet your husband and son are proud of you too.

LLocust...we have a large area ready to be tilled for this springs garden next to the greenhouse. Since the kids have been scraping out old manure from the barns, I had them haul about 8 piles of it over to that area so it can be tilled in. The rest I had them put in a pasture area. So they used the Ranger to do the hauling and ended up putting them in a pattern. I have been asked twice now why we have 8 graves out there. Ha Ha.
Uncle Melvin loved the pie and the visit. He is 97 today and doing well. Mom stopped in and visited, too. He likes to show me very old photos and see if I can guess who is who. He gave me an old Yoder cookbook. Sweet man.

I recently dodged The Princess as she did a white tornado over the holidays.

Everyone is safe, no blood spilled.

We, like you are better because of it.

You have to pester him with questions AH. He is a link to important events so get him to tell stories if you can.

It is a blessing that you links going back that far.

I do all the time, and boy can he tell him. My cousin Harry is quite a writer, and is documenting alot of it. Mom tells them, too, but she can't remember what she's talking about half the time. He showed me a class photo of kids today, and he was in it, and it was taken 90 years ago, down the road here. He pointed out one kid, Roger. I'd not heard of him before. He said Roger fell off the top of the outhouse at my grandparents house and broke his arm. Then Uncle Melvin would laugh....then he said someone out here got a Model T and they were driving it down the dirt road and ran over Roger. So Roger ran into my grandparents house and cried. Melvin thought all of this was hysterical. I asked him if Roger lived to be an adult, and he said, yes, he saw him in Indiana once, called out his name, and sure enough it was Roger.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and that you are all able to get the groceries and supplies you need as I know it is hairy over there in a few States with rising Covid numbers.

We had a good Christmas and New Year here and helped the RSL with their Christmas function setting up all the food etc and socialising with a lot of friends too. Of course we also cleaned up afterwards a few days later which took 6 hours of work between DH and I over two days.

Up until Christmas we had up to 3 medical appointments a week and were doing lots of rehab exercises for DH at home too. Working on strengthening, balance for his left arm and leg weakness as well as walking a few times a day. Also have to do cognitive exercises as well which takes up a bit of the day once we complete them all.

Before and after Christmas between medical appointments we also had two paid gardening jobs that normally DH can do on his own but cannot now due to weight lifting limitations. I was doing the push mowing of all the edges and under trees and helped with pushing the wheelbarrow with our spray pack (28kg when full) in for weed spraying.

We caught up with weeding the vegetable garden beds which with all the rain we have had were higher than my knee and approaching thigh height. Also replaced some outdoor taps one which gravity feeds from our rainwater tanks and we have 3 more to replace. We also collected seeds from our broad beans, dwarf beans and harvested our garlic which is curing.

I have also been busy trying to source ride on lawn mower blade replacement sets which seem to be extinct and found one place where I have now ordered two sets so we have a set spare.

We got all the lawn mowing here done last week and today we did the wheelbarrow weed sprayer trick and got all the edges sprayed for weeds today. Still have to spray around the base of the fruit and berry trees and some near the back shed.

Think we are finally almost caught up on everything and relaxing for the afternoon.
