If you have more than one car you have a battery doner... First try charging the truck battery or if you are pulling it out of the vehicle bring it in someplace warm and charge it.....temperature really reduces a batteries output when they get cold.
If the battery doesn't charge enough to start the truck maybe one of the other rigs batteries will fit in it .. otherwise I sometimes take a set of jumper cables and a spare battery along.
If you go to a shop to get a new battery make sure they check that the alternator is charging the battery..

the battery is now in the house and charged. It is fairly old, not sure when we even got it, so it probably needs to be replaced
Going to the autoparts store first ( IF it starts) to get a new battery. Our other vehicles don't have enough amps to start this truck, except the yukon and it has starter problems so I am not going to even try it
worst case we just have to wait until the snow melts
I can't order one online either, not even the mail has been up here since the snow and ice started , too steep unless you have at the very least a 4wd

So today we will try getting things started. The Ranger battery is new, so it's probably some other problem

Yesterday was a bad day in Black Rock all around. Started with going next door to Dad's where my brother is staying. He's sick. Real sick. Vomiting, diarrhea, suspected food poisoning. I thought it was just the two deep fried hot dogs with sauerkraut and onion rings (that we split) he had for dinner the previous night. OK I'll go to the hospital alone. I'm there about an hour, maybe one and half hours. Started to no feel good. A trip to the bathroom and I was losing my breakfast. Left to go home. Felt really horrible that Dad was going to have to deal with the xray result alone. I don't think he cared because he was watching YouTube when I left. Spent the rest of the day, tips and tails in the bathroom. Discovered my anti-nausea medications were very out of date. No mint tea or ginger ale in the house. My pharmacist stopped by on her way home with an assortment of stuff for me. Emetrol--good stuff and over-the-counter. Working on a cup of tea and toast right now.

Dad's x-ray was 50/50. He can swallow thickened liquids--water, juice, broth--but pureed foods still lodge in the esophagus creating an aspiration danger. So he'll be getting a feeding tube in the belly until the muscles and swelling in the neck area go down.

I think it's about time I take a Family Leave of Absence from work. New Jersey provides Family Leave Insurance for up to 12 weeks where you get "paid" 80% of your pay to care for a direct family member.

Oh man, that sounds terrible, Tommyice. You might of picked something up at the hospital. Happens to me when husband is in for a number of days, I usually end up on antibiotic for something. Hope you get to feeling better soon. It's hard to work full time and care for someone, one of the reasons why I retired when I did. I couldn't keep up with running our school and taking care of his needs became more necessary. Now it seems it's a full time job in itself.
Well, woke up to about another 4 inches of snow. We'll see if the clinic is open today where husband has his appt. If not, I've got plenty of this and that to do here.

I have a huge mess going on at my lathe. I cut the 3 inch pipe in half from 12 to 6 inches long. Then the threaded/slip connector was full threaded so I cut the threads out of half of it. I got some PVC sheet to make the baffles and it was supposed to be 6 x 6, which would have been perfect. Nope! 5 7/8 x 5 7/8. Damn. I could make a mess of the insides, no one will see it anyway. Now cutting out the baffles and turning on lathe to make sure they're round. Plastic all over the place! Not done yet either! Almost. Need to wait until noon to fire up the shop vac so if neighbors are home they won't holler. I needed a vac and got a shop vac for both messes and floors. If the air brush compressor still too loud will make a second muff with other half. Now that I need neighbor to get on his guitar and make noise he doesn't! Can't count on people!

Staying inside all day , cuz I was out and about yesterday.
It is eleven degrees F. currently. I’ll reload some some armor piercing 7.62 x 51.
Just in case everything goes sideways after the Pres. Innauguration.

Today, it is snowing outside, so we are staying indoors to avoid the cold. I’m grateful we are preppers because we didn't have to rush out for last-minute shopping. With our prepper mindset, we are always prepared. We have our generator ready in case the power goes out.

Fed the very disgruntled donkey!! Baby Cakes (the cat) helped, she loves running and rolling in the snow! Walked around and took some pictures, and played with Bear! Having a coffee break now!! Please visit my thread, "another new cat", apparently I have one already!!

Once again Luna went wild in the snow, running from one end to the other at top speed, Chess was a bit less energetic.

Today is earmarked for concentrating on my computer center. Getting things in odder, setting up an old desktop PC to reprogram. I keep getting pulled away from it in favor of kitchen.... organizing food stocks, cookware, dishes, etc.... Now that it's all much better - time to move on.

I'll be dealing with this crap all day. Got about 3". It's slush underneath, melting fast.

I had to make the dog go outside! That was funny! He's never seen snow like this and did not want to go! I watched, he ran to the edge of the garden, took care of business, ran back and scratched on the door! "let me in!"

Only annoying part... the satellite dish for the tv is on the roof and covered with snow. So no tv this morning..

After breakfast I'll go out and finish putting up the siding on the west wall on the new building. Then start framing the east wall. At least that's the plan until it starts snowing.

Started digging a grave for Sammy, the ground is no frozen, but the red clay is too wet! He is in a body bag (from the vet) and a box in my saddle shed until we can bury him! I made a snowman while out playing with Bear, he destroyed it!! He is sprawled out on the floor sound asleep after snow zoomies!! I called a few of my older clients to check on them. Going to take a nap!!

Got a light dusting of snow yesterday afternoon.. Started again with first light this morning.. Knee high gloomy overcast, calm, 25F.. No where to go, nothing to do, so won't do anything..

Mom has dementia… she got upset about the tv being off. Couldn’t see if there’s a tornado!!! Of course there’s no tornadoes with snow on the ground but couldn’t convince her of that. The weather radio wasn’t making noise either. According to her, it was broken also...

A down side of a 2 story house… the satellite dish is 16ft off the ground. So I put the ladder up and filled a little garden sprayer with hot water then washed the snow off the satellite.

Peace has been restored!!! She can watch tv again.

Our TV dish is on the roof outside of our upstairs TV room. Ours is sloped enough that the snow usually slides off, if it doesn't I can climb out the window and brush it off. Our Starlink has a heater to melt the snow and ice.

Change of plans. A thick heavy frozen fog just moved in. I don't like working outside in the fog. So we'll go to town today and take care of some business. I need to pick up a couple boxes of screws, drop off some silver to our safe deposit box, have lunch and the most important thing of all, pick up some ice-cream.
