Try to talk to her and demand overtime pay, separation pay, danger pay and loss of intimate contact pay????? Gary
Her standard work schedule is 84 hours a week with 44 hours per week of overtime pay; time and a half plus double time pay. She normally puts in more than 84 hours.
I like the idea of "loss of intimate contact pay". But I don't think her boss would go for it. Her sister did offer to come out and cook for me....

84 hour work weeks...weeks on end is not at all healthy for your wife! No matter the age. Not to be negative, but many doctors overworking themselves have gotten the virus and died. Many times I believe it was because they were so worn down by overwork. She needs to demand a shorter work week...at least every few weeks.

That really isn't the way it works in remote work sites. Her normal work schedule is 21 - 12 hour days, and 21 days at home. Take it or leave it. It's hard to beat a high paying job that normally has 6 months vacation per year. Plus she'll be able to retire 10 years early.
This is a temporary crisis that will be over soon enough. Most of our working career has been rotational. Our longest hitch was 15 months witout a day off.

Well Covid 19 has finally reared it's ugly head in my county. We now have the first positive case. We continue to stay on the property and self isolate. It rained all day. It's not as bad when you can get out and do something outside but we just keep finding little household projects to keep us busy. I had put up my quilt frame last week and have started quilting a top. I think on the back somewhere I will embroider that this quilt was quilted during the Covid19 pandemic of 2020. Maybe my grandchildren might enjoy the history.

Food stores are holding up fine and my garden seed are steadily coming up. Baby chicks are growing like bad weeds. 2 of the 5 adult kids are tucked away on remote family property self quarantining for the 14 days. Both are working remotely ( tech industry ). Daughter did say that she expects to get laid off. Her company sent out a blanket email whining about losing clients and so the first thing they did was cut their health insurance to save money. So if she doesn't get laid off she just won't have medical insurance in the middle of a global pandemic. How's that for a way to treat your employees.

The governor of Tennessee finally closed non essential businesses and issued a stay at home order after being pressured publicly by doctors statewide to do so. Infected cases are now over 2200 and deaths at 13 per the health dept site. Stay safe

A local hospital is furloughing 200 employees because they aren't doing elective surgeries, etc.

Seems to me if there was such chaos at these hospitals, they would be moving them around to help with the Covid patients.
They maybe saving them until they have to have them. My BIL is a surgical nurse that works at one of those elective surgery hospitals. Right now he is at home driving my sis crazy.

The hospitals in NY are in bad shape right now and not peaked yet. Supplies are low and staff is stretched too thin. I really feel these workers. I’m really surprised by any hospitals sending anyone home now. The medical system being run for profit isn’t always a good idea, this is the perfect example. I know the vast majority here don’t believe in socialism in any form but our medical system was broken before this, wait and see how bad it gets.

My brother works for the Texas Department of Corrections. He has an admin job and isn't around any inmates. He is also a transplant recipient. He said the office he works in shares a foyer with another office. Someone in the other office has COVID-19. They did shut the office down for 2 weeks, but have made no mention of deep cleaning. He said there is another office about 1/2 mile away and 2 people have it there. The only thing that upper management will tell them is that they are still working.
He is using wipes on everything and trying to be careful. It's odd that they want to let the prisoners out, but keep the workers in.

I hope the best for him, and us all. Anyone that’s still working will be exposed eventually. Let’s just all hope they get the mildest case.

If those medical folks were needed in Their area, they would be called upon. NYC is by far the hardest hit because of the huge population, and DiBlasio certainly didn’t help matters.

“The mayor moved so slowly in responding to coronavirus, against the guidance of his top health officials, that some of them threatened to resign, according to reports on March 16 from The New York Times and the Daily News. De Blasio denied that anybody said they would resign, but seemed to admit to tensions, saying “people have had serious conversations,” but sources told the Daily News there major disagreements over the mayor’s “slow pace to adapt to information about how quickly (the disease) was advancing.”

Not sure why the push for socialism now? Especially right in the middle of our countries hardest time since WWII. Personally I think we need to put our brains and efforts towards staying safe and helping others at this critical time.

As far a socialist medicine? Check out Italy...they are not doing well. France isn’t either. In the UK docs are being threatened if they complain about lack of supplies and meds. Canada has provinces out of supplies and meds.

After this pandemic is over we will have to rebuild our country. Without a doubt there will not be money available for free healthcare for all.

Sorry if this comes across badly. It isn’t meant to. Had a rough night.

Oh DP that has to be very upsetting! Agree that it seems odd and unfair to let prisoners out but seem to not think of the workers.

Not surprised as the United States was ranked the Best prepared in the world in December 2019.

We clearly weren’t ready for this it seems, but part of the blame lies with FALSE INFORMATION from China. After watching Tucker Carlson report on which bat started this novel Coronavirus and that it was NOT sold in Wuhan wet market really makes me wonder if this was all done on purpose?

Well good news. He just texted me and said he already had FMLA set up and he got a doctors note so he is home for 2 weeks. Sigh of relief... I hope the other workers are okay.

I’m afraid there’s not going to be much money left for any big programs when this is done. If this was just one country I wouldn’t be nearly as concerned but the fact it’s worldwide has me realizing how serious this is. I think many of us aren’t sleeping as well as we used to.

I’m afraid you are right. Not sure how the entire globe gets up from this Economically? If we can come together as a Nation and work together for solutions for our citizenry, we have a chance. Shut the doors so to speak .and work on jobs, feeding, schooling and healthcare. We might have a chance. If we continue on like we are a rich country and can afford millions of illegals, we will live like and be a 3 rd world country. It is bothering me, because I see politics overshadowing everything and keeping us from bonding together for the trials that are surely coming.

Yeah, I don’t see the country coming together. There’s too much from both sides. Governments and entire systems have changed completely from lesser events in history, I just hope we don’t see anything too drastic from this. I wouldn’t mind if common sense had a bigger part in government though.

One of our part time workers works for TDC and she said one of her coworker has it, she may have been exposed, so she is on quarantine right now.

Tennessee up to 2683 infected/24 deaths. Still only 1 known case in my county. The roads are quiet and everyone seems to be taking it seriously now. I have not ventured out to do any shopping of any sort. I think next week we may see if we can find some fresh fruit and dairy. A luxury not necessity as we have plenty canned, frozen or dehydrated but a bit of fresh would be nice.

Talked to my kid brother who is a paramedic/first responder outside New Orleans. Other side of the lake. He sounded really tired and a little down. Worried for him. One of my sons checked in and informed me he had already HAD the virus. Seems he had been in England first of February or so on business. Got back and caught the flu from hell within 48 hours. Knocked him for a loop for about a week and a half. Said it went straight to his lungs and was the worst flu he has ever had. Never made the connection until he went in to his doctor yesterday for a med check in for a prescription. Dr said he would almost guarantee! Guess our family missed that bullet. And of course he never said a word to anyone and the boys wonder why all I have is gray hair

We continue to just go on with our lives. Lots of gardening and house cleaning and quilting going on. The "man cave" has never been cleaner. Now he is doing gun maintenance and restringing fishing rods. Life just keeps on marching on just behind closed doors and gates now. Stay safe out there people

some good news from where I live:
the Ladies from my Lions-Club chapter now stiching face masks to donate it to some elder people. We organize a catering service for them too. I released from my company account some money for donations to support this.
My Japanese parent company now send masks around the group ompanies world wide for the employees at work and their families.

It would be now a good silence for meditation as well, but hard to focus.

Here in France, everyone has to carry a government form stating the name, address, reason for leaving house, time leaving, date and signature or otherwise if stopped by gendarmerie will be fined. Police at all supermarkets, some roadblocks. One hour exercise outdoors per day only. Nobody on the streets, traffic nonexistent even in cities. All outdoor resorts closed including the mountains.

Thanks. There is another Crozet next to Geneva. I am not allowed to cross the border into Switzerland because I’m not a resident or citizen there. The wife works for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva. Now she tele commutes from home as all staff are doing. All new recruitments there have been stopped. We cannot go back to the USA for visits because of the quarantine thing.
Was in a food store earlier today and I wasn’t allowed to get food from the freezer section without the assistant opening through glass door for me.
Usually I go to Chamonix for climbing but now it’s totally forbidden. It’s sickening. Only good thing is that I purchased a whole bunch of N95 masks as soon as the SHTF so I’m sorted for now
