I like to think that most people are basically good. Maybe naive but I’d rather be an optimist. There is no doubt though there are plenty of really rotten ones that only care about themselves.

Yes they are HOWEVER in the larger towns and cities those who are NOT good folk and those who are weak and easily tempted by far outnumber the good people, and they are very vulnerable.

You Americans also have the huge added worry about the far left " We hate Trump" beyond reason Democrats AND their Reps, Congressmen and Senators and GOVERNORS, I know those bastards will issue emergency state wide proclamations bordering and possibly including martial law. Then they WILL show their true colours, Gun Seizures, Fuel Siezures, Crop Seizures, Road Blocks, Work Parties etc. The lefties like AOC and co will incite the " We should be givens" and the " We are entitleds" to REPORT on neighbours who they believe are HOARDING . They will turn a blind eye as packs of locals redistribute seized / stolen goods and materiels to themselves. Then use those packs as an excuse to declare a state of emergency and suspend democracy.

I'm not too worried about the flu but I am worried about the government's response to it. If we don't get the economy running again soon this could lead to a major depression, if not a total collapse. I don't care to debate the seriousness of this virus. I just don't think that destroying our economy and trashing our constitution is the right answer.
I'm heading to the bank now and try to close my accounts. I don't trust the banks to be open much longer, or the government to put limits on how much cash a person can withdraw. The only bank in my county was closed yesterday due to an "emergency".

My husband just made a post office and bank run. He said the line at the drive thru was around the block. Everyone drawing out money. So was he:)

That is why President Trump must get re elected . If the Dems try stuff like that...which they would if in charge,...you can count on a war within our borders.

And beyond that, since their latest cause is every ILLEGAL who sneaks in, they will be giving to illegals at the HUGE DETRIMENT of those who came legally and Americans who deserve the HELP FIRST! There is no way in hades we will have enough economically to help us and all the INVADERS. Just listen to the nutball Dems who want to give them free healthcare! The invasion wouldn’t stop until we crashed and burned as a nation.

He went back too!
what amount do take out- is it based on needs as family etc or to get through the six months- we both are have essential government jobs - so I would hope we would still get paid but again never living through anything like- every penny I am putting towards prepping

We decided we wanted enough that if something happened with the bank we would have enough for at the least several months on property. We have to leave some in the bank because many businesses right now are not taking cash. It is either debit or credit because they do not want to handle infected money. As long as the banks are up we will continue to use our debit card until such time as cash is the only option.

"The biggest problem with Socialism is, you eventually run out of OTHER peoples money" (Maggie Thatcher) Do we need socialism?

"Do not ask what your nation can do for you, but what you can do for your nation" (JFK) We do need social distancing!

"I do get along with certain humans, but I cannot stand Humanity." (GaRp) I need distance from society!!

Maggie::) JFK::D GaRp::mad:

6 months is a damn site more than most people have, this thing isn't slowing down at all, 3600 dead in the UK as of today and its not over yet.
we are heading for a recession if not a depression.

At the very least, a depressing recession

The only bank in my county was closed yesterday due to an "emergency".

Usually that means they were robbed

Good God, I may not really like some of the **** that happens here but, reading of what is going on in the US and UK...We are doing well with open and running gas stations, full stores and no riots (YET). I'll keep my eyes open tho. GP

Ive never been happier about not being on city sewer! There are far too many idiots to share a sewer line with these days!

The run on banks is truly disturbing. I’ve always thought that was going to be a sign to get more prepared. It is a two edge sword with closing your bank accounts, or even drawing them down low. One, as was pointed out above, not all places take cash, but to me that’s kind of a minor risk. The biggest is security. If you get robbed or your house burns down you could loose your life savings overnight. My advice is definitely keep cash on hand but keep some in the bank and in other forms of investments too.

Or bury your cash in mason jars. Seal the lids with caulk before you put them in the ground. Putting them under something, like a trailer, or car, etc. is a good way to keep people from looking there. If you have a crawlspace, even better. Don't have to worry about someone seeing you bury it, and even if there's a fire, it will be safe underground. PITA to unearth it later, but it will still be there.

Also, wrap your money in aluminum foil. After the Super Bill fiasco of the 90's, the new currency has strips that can be seen from satellite if you have more than 20 stacked together. Of course they're not looking for a few thousand, but it doesn't hurt. How do you think they immediately found Saddam's billions in cash hidden behind walls of his palace? Also the tech is old enough, many police can see if cars on the hwy are transporting large amounts of cash.

When now many start to empty the Banks a Bankrun will start and it ends like the Toilet Paper Story.
Also when you have your Money at Home it could get worthless when you see the Historie of the German Reichsmark at the End of WW1.
Change Money into Buildings or Gold would be my Option when I would be Rich.

It is a trauma that continues to have an impact today. Images that have buried themselves in the collective memory of the Germans. In the crisis year of 1923, inflation reached unimaginable levels. The central bank print day and night. The prices explode. In laundry baskets, people carry almost worthless banknotes to the shops. A loaf of bread costs 105 billion Reichsmarks, a tram ticket 150 billion Marks, one US dollar 4.2 trillion Marks. The unemployment rate is almost 25 percent, and social misery is increasing. Germany is facing economic collapse.

It’s worth leaving some information in a will about where you hid your cash if you want to leave it to someone. If you die of this and it’s buried it’s just gone. That or tell someone you really trust. Trusting most with where your cash is hidden is a dicey thing though.

a new twist at Wally World, they are only letting people in thru one door and spacing the out at 6 ft intervals ,,, a waste of time if you ask me once inside people can do what they want
At least they are making people aware of the distancing thing. My Walmart two weeks ago only had one door open. I’m considering an early morning run tomorrow but don’t know if a Saturday morning is wise.. would like to get some fresh foods and a few misc. supplies anyways. This will likely be my last run off the property for a good while.

I’m still hoping decent people will be numerous enough to keep the others in line. I’m sure it will depend on where you live. Some areas around Atlanta were allready pretty bad even in good times. When police departments stop responding to non violent crimes it sends a really bad message to the criminals, ‘green light’!

31 Confirmed cases in the county and no deaths so far. Looks like we are accelerating though...

I don't worry about the locals,,,it's those out of area looking for what they can get without a fight
