week 21 day 5

rutabegas , potatoes and sausage today , soups #1

recipe ( this is a very German dish LOL) : peel , cut up in chunks, boil rutabega, drain water after a while and boil again ( or it gets bitter) , when almost soft, add some cut up potatoes. Drain when soft but leave a little liquid in the post, and use a potato masher to mash it all. Add butter, salt, pepper and a little nutmeg, plus a raw chopped onion and some fried bacon pieces. Have this with either Bratwurst or Kilbasa sausage. My mom always made it with blood sausage but no such thing here so I use what is available

We have been utilizing sweet potatoes with our meals, instead of the normal Russet potatoes. I think (?) they are better for you, but regardless, they sure taste way better.
I got a bunch yesterday, they were on sale
tried growing them here but didn't work , they got eaten by something in the ground

Week 21 day 7

weight myself, at still 13 lbs to go, wow, I thought it would be less this week

today I am going to make either spagettie or baked ziti and soup
plus rice soup, have some rice left from yesterday

edit: I ended up making lasagna and eating too much

well its early...but my injury actually felt better this morning...i already took a short walk and i felt ok...i think i am going to do two or three shorter walks just to see how my leg functions today, maybe all this week...play it by ear i guess.

week 22 day 1

today I am making root vegetables in the oven some stuff was left in the garden, plus sweet potatoes from the store
Schnitzel , plus salad
have a little leftover soup from yesterday

Didnt get to walk anymore this afternoon.Just to much to do.

Today was a good day...a productive day...and my leg/foot/spine was doing real nice ! I am the chicken dinner winner today for sure !!

week 22 day 3

Chinese low mein with beef and veggies, got some stir fry beef we went to the Sams last time
It's sort of funny, the only food I use beef for with rare exceptions is Chinese stir fry. I haven't found a good cut of lamb or goat to substitute for that, oh or beef fajitas husband likes

week 22 day 4

my weight seems to be stuck on the same exact spot, not even an ounce change in at least a week, not up or down. Is this the dreaded plateau?

today making kimchi stew and rice
maybe I should shock my system and make a dessert and eat a whole bunch of it!
Say hi to Havasu while you are on the plateau 😃

week 22 day 5

today Kale and sausage soup and I will probably bake some bread

baked 2 loaves of banana bread yesterday and had half a loaf. Son and husband ate the rest, there is a tiny piece left , that's all

I think the plateau increased in height yesterday LOL, not going to weight myself today

took a very...very short little walk this morning....after being sick last two days and not walking much ..i could tell it....anyhow...it is what it is.

oh i weighed out of curiosity this morning...wow....cutting back calories and then being ill caused a big weight drop...not even going to tell that..it was a crazy number....no i been drinking plenty of liquids...so not dehydrated...not a good way to drop pounds i tell ya.

week 23 day 1

food fail yesterday, I burnt my cauliflower and potato curry because I was talking to husband about the solar panels....we ended up having rice , mano and lentil soup, and then later I made some apple pancakes ( german recipe, not like american pancakes)

today spicy Korean chicken, rice, salad, sweet potatoes
no soup, I have some of the lentil left from yesterday

week 23 day 3

yesterday I made potato soup and pizza, I know strange combination but that's what I made and it's all gone

today :
turkey, smashed potatoes , broccolie casserole, rolls, gravy, sweet potato pie and black forest cake ( no stuffing, no cranberry stuff, nobody here likes those things)
plus trying an experiment if I have time : butternut squash risotto

week 23 day 4

I wonder how many pound I gained yesterday. But I really only had 1 plate of food, somehow cooking all morning makes you less hungry. I did have a piece of cake and a piece of pie ( large ones) plus a turkey wing in the evening. I love cold turkey wings, it's my favorite part of the turkey
the butternut squash risotto was really good, I used sushi rice to make it with plus beef broth ( daughter allergic to chicken) , onion, the squash chopped into pieces, parmesan cheese, butter, olive oil and a little cream, plus fresh sage.

today Chinese dumplings and leftovers

I really need to go on a diet. Quit smoking and putting on the pounds. I know I'm up over 300 again, thankfully I'm tall enough, 6' 5", I can handle it. Would love to get back down to 250 or there abouts. My biggest problem is portions. My idea of a portion is different than everyone else. I need to change that but need to get smoke cravings dealt with first.

Quitting smoking is AWESOME!! At least you know what you must do (portions) when the time is right!!

quitting smoking was THE hardest thing I have ever quit. I haven't smoked in 30 years but I do remember how hard it was to stop. But good for you! I don't know if they still make it but I chewed nicorette gum to quit and it worked
