General rule of thumb on the swing of doors is if you stand in the doorway on the hinge side with your back to the hinges. If the door ends up on your left its a left hand door. If it ends up on the right then its a right hand door. But then they mess with inswing or outswing. You should of seen us, Peanut, trying to figure out the doors we ordered for Menards, the left swing or right swing. You'd think it'd be simple looking at the photos. It's really not. And it's important because it dictates where the doorknob should be.
Fixed it forya'!Same here, always go to the side/backdoor. The front door is strictly for show and running off uninvited visitors.
Thanks, but we don't have a problem with unwanted visitors of the two legged variety. It's too far from the hole in the wall to get here and zero return for the effort. The few neighbors don't fall in the category of unwanted.Fixed it forya'!
Interesting you say that about the church next door. I am a volunteer at a church thrift store. We have very minimal hours for lack of volunteers so people leave donations in front of the building. EVERY TIME we go to open the store or work in it off hours, the town people have torn open all the plastic bags filled with donations and strew everything about looking to take what they want. Sometimes it gets rained on. It really angers me.General rule of thumb on the swing of doors is if you stand in the doorway on the hinge side with your back to the hinges. Fedex has me wanting to tear my hair out AGAIN. Because they previously misdelivered my package to the wrong house and have given me hell-- leaving stuff on the truck or sidewalk (left some packages out in the rain yesterday), I had my latest HD order delivered to my friend's house in town. But they screwed that up. It never arrived at his house. He has security camera and they never stopped by and its not at his house. So, they either lied about delivering or they misdelivered to someone else AGAIN.
My friend said he's going to check the church next door. I think if it got dropped there it would have been stolen. The people at that church are thieves and vandals. I'm on a chat with HD and Fedex trying to figure out where the package went. I'm beyond pissed off about all of these delivery problems.
My guts aren't liking me these days either Ugh. And I still need to go into town for stuff. I know it could be worse, but how hard is it for Fedex to deliver to the right damn address?
Since you constantly seem to have package issues, wouldn't a local P.O Box allow all your deliveries? I know many friends who utilize a P.O. Box to keep their deliveries off of their front porch where in my area, the porch pirates will steal your deliveries within an hour?Well, friend checked the neighboring houses and the church-- no sign of my package. My thoughts are:
a. Driver got the wrong street
b. Driver delivered to wrong house & someone stole it
c. Driver didn't actually deliver but claimed they did & kept it or gave it to a friend/family member
d. Driver somehow lost it and claimed it was delivered to cover their butts
The driver is supposed to take a picture as proof of delivery but didn't. So, my guess is, they didn't actually deliver. Which is odd because my friend rarely has problems with deliveries at his house.
I know it didn't go to my friend's house bc his security camera would have caught it. HomeDepot already refunded my $ but I have to order again and wait longer. I'm going to use my home address this time. I used my friend's hoping it would get delivered. I'm really getting tired of lousy delivery services.
Also, it is hot as hell. And for some reason wasps were swarming on my front door. I took them out with wasp spray. I need to paint that door blue and paint the porch ceiling blue.
Is he an older guy, sure could be dementia! He might not be able to make the decision to change his situation. Maybe a call to Adult Protective Services would be more beneficial than the Sheriff's dept.! Drugs or dementia, that situation is only going to get worse!!Well, I'm not one to rant, but I'm a little concerned about developments with this neighbor of mine, the older guy living in a beater RV across the lane. Remember when I mentioned that an ambulance showed up and carted him off to the hospital? The ambulance brought him back at the end of the day, but since then, this guy has been unable to walk... so he's moving around on his hands inside the RV, and using a wheelchair to get around outside, not always easy in the dirt. Yesterday evening, I finished watering as it was getting dark outside, and I noticed one of the guy's friends across the lane, so I walked over to ask how the injured guy was doing. The friend had shown up to make a store run for the guy, so at that point I offered to put together a sack of groceries to donate... I did that while the friend ran to the store.
Once I saw the friend return, I walked over to donate the food, and that's when I learned that the injured guy had no propane for his RV... so I offer to donate the full tank I just swapped out a day ago, as long as I get the tank back later for exchange purposes. Up to this point, I'm okay with doing this, as the guy with medical issues is clearly down on his luck. But then I start talking to him, and I learn that the Sheriff's Dept. stopped by on my birthday (I never saw or heard 'em, as I was partying in the A/C in the comfort of my home), in order to make a "health & welfare" check. Next thing I know, the guy's telling a windy about how the Sheriff's deputy grabbed him, and he had the deputy's pistol halfway out of its holster... due to his "military training." My reply: "That's a good way to get shot."
This guy claims he doesn't drink or do drugs, but I'm starting to see signs of what looks like meth head behavior... plus the guy is living in squalid conditions in this beater RV on a dirt lot with zero shade. Worse yet, he has a cat cooped up in there with him, and from what I've seen, that can't be any good life for the cat. He said the cat was 10 years old and an "indoor cat"---but there ain't much room in that roughly 20' RV, and the cat never gets to go outside. This guy also claimed in the past that he was a pastor... hard to believe, judging by appearance. Cleanliness is next to godliness, or so I've heard. So I'm beginning to think this guy is full of $h!t. As an objective observer, I reckon he'd be better off in some sort of state-funded flat... may be a moot point, since he didn't look so good last night, and might not be around much longer anyway.
Perhaps somebody else feels the same way, and that's why the Sheriff's deputies paid him a visit... maybe they just want to see the guy get into a flat where other folks can help look after him. I get the part about older people wanting to retain their independence, but there comes a time when ya gotta wonder if mental illness is a factor, or plain old senility? I don't really like getting involved in other people's affairs, I have enough on my own plate, ya know? But I still have enough compassion left to try and help somebody who is down... the thing is, I don't like those who try to take advantage of my kindness. As the Cockney Rejects said: "I AM NOT A FOOL!" So I woke up this morning with mixed feelings about the whole situation... I don't begrudge the sack of groceries or the propane, but I reckon the guy ought to be exploring better options for living.
There's a way to live in an RV, and what I'm seeing is NOT it. Remember when I mentioned meeting a new friend recently at the store? The hand from Tennessee who is living in a 36' 5th wheel trailer on his nephew's land? Well, THAT guy is doing it right: he keeps his trailer clean, he's properly hooked up with utilities, he fenced in 1/2 acre as a run for his dog, etc. The squalid conditions across the lane are a different story altogether... looks like a f#%ng junkyard over there, aye? When I moved here, I told myself that I wasn't gonna worry about how others maintained their properties, I was just gonna take care of my own and to heck with the rest. But this eyesore is growing across the lane, and the entire situation is getting outta hand. To the point where it's starting to p!$$ me off... it's obvious that this guy should be in a state-funded flat, not living in squalor in a beater RV in a dirt lot with zero f#%ng shade.
And the whole notion of the cat being forced to live that way with him is enough to rile me... why does the cat have to be dragged into it? I've tried to be cool about the whole deal, and not make waves with any neighbors, but I'm wondering how much of this whole situation is due to stubborn stupidity? Some obstinate refusal to accept the kind of help actually needed to alleviate the problem(s)? God forbid I ever fall that low... and I thought about living in an RV, I just haven't yet reached the stage where it's necessary. If I ever do, it won't be in the way I'm seeing, it'll be like the way the hand from Tennessee is doing it, with some sense of dignity and self-respect. Maybe I shouldn't bother getting worked up over it... if it weren't for the cat cooped up in there with this guy, I wouldn't care so much. As adults, we all make choices. But seeing this BS is enough to p!$$ off the Pope... I got a feeling that my attitude toward this guy is about to change.
MEH, THOSE ARE MY OBSERVATIONS ON THIS OTHERWISE FINE MORNING... CALL IT MY RANT, LOL.
I'm all for minding your own business, as long as it doesn't turn into "I could have prevented that from happening"!! Or what if it were you in that situation and you really hoped someone would help. Probably best to talk with the friend, at least you will know if it is a 'please help' situation or a 'stupid druggie ' situation!!Yeah, and that's the part where I don't really wanna get involved, ya know? Because, like I said, I have enough on my own plate as it is. Maybe I should talk to this guy's friends next time I see 'em, and sound 'em out about other options for living... or maybe I should just mind my own business, and to hell with these crackerheads. It's the cat that riles me, no cat should be forced to live in disgusting squalor that way...
That sounds like how I live. I pay a couple of guys to come over once a month to clean up and do maintenance, my 5 tomcats come and go as they like and eat well. I'm dreading going to the fed Hilton one day. I can't have pets, guns, or smoke, and life will be over. If he's happy and not bothering anyone, let him be.it's obvious that this guy should be in a state-funded flat, not living in squalor in a beater RV in a dirt lot with zero f#%ng shade.
Offer him a case of beer for the cat.

What's he doing anyway? maybe he's just given up and needs a jump start? He claims that he doesn't drink. Pearl, I'm not sure I wanna talk to any of the people who show up there, might be better to walk into APS, sit down with someone and explain the situation... let some social worker pay a visit to the site and see firsthand what's happening there. The guy at the center of the problem should be getting some sort of assistance... if he already is, where is the money going, that he doesn't have enough to buy propane? Kinda raises a big ol' red flag, and I REALLY don't wanna get into another feud with a bunch of tweekin' crackerheads, AYE? Been there, done that...
Still kinda hard on the cat... maybe I just write off the whole ugly scene, and no more free handouts from me, yeah?
If there is more than one person showing up, sounds best to sit back and watch! The flip side of that question is: maybe he's doing meth, and I'm wasting my time & money on the fool. Time and money which could be better spent elsewhere. Age is no barrier to stupidity when it comes to meth heads. I think I'll just ease back for a bit, the problem may solve itself if the Sheriff's deputies show up again... that BS about grabbing one deputy's pistol out of its holster was another red flag. I get it: some folks wanna tell Mark Twain "stretchers" in order to seem more bad@$$ and independent, but that kind of BS lie doesn't wash in my book. Idiots who try to disarm cops usually get shot... many for good reason. I think I'll just write off the cat as a lost cause, and not bother trying to help this guy in the future. I can't say this too often: I have enough on my own plate. Should I ever flip this home and move farther into the boondocks, I'm gonna make sure I have NO f#%ng neighbors next time... I ain't my brother's keeper, and this @$$clown ain't even my brother, aye?
wingnut: What happened to that poor cat when neighbor went to the hospital? If, I mean, when he goes to the hospital the next time...I can think of all kinds of events in cat's defense. Just sayin'STILL, IT BOTHERS ME THAT THE POOR CAT IS CONFINED AND FORCED TO LIVE IN SQUALOR...
Trust your gut Wingnut. I've found mine is usually accurateWell, these 'friends' who appear across the lane aren't any physical threat to me, I've done enough hard scrappin' in my life to take care of myself, but the red flags I've been seeing lately make me wonder if I'm wasting my time or misdirecting my compassion, ya know? And money... I'm not made of money either, aye? I'm on a budget myself and I adhere to that budget. One thought that has been bothering me is this: am I being drawn into some situation which will later turn sour and lead to problems or expense? Another thought: are these 'friends' who visit at odd hours some tweekin' crackerheads? They show up at odd times during the day... don't they have friggin' jobs? Any visible means of support?
I got into it with some tweekin' crackerheads in Kalifornia who started vandalizing our property in the middle of the night, and the greaseball C.P.D. never did anything about it, as we never got along and they didn't like my parking the big truck in the middle of a crowded seaside community. Some of the punks belonged to an unlocal kook family which did the towing for the cops too... that fiasco went on for years, and I eventually had six months of my life ripped off for something that never even happened, just BS lies on paper in the rigged courtrooms of the Douche-manis creep, that criminal scrub queer. I shot down the charges, but I had to wait six months for my hearings and (second) bogus public-fund-wastin' trial.
In the long run, I gave worse than I got, helping to put the vandal punks outta business and helping to shoot down the scrub queer D.A.'s bid to become mayor of Dago. But it was a long ordeal and I never wanted ANY part of it, ya know? At the same time, I wasn't gonna simply roll over and take it... hence the multiple rounds of fake charges and two, count 'em, TWO bogus public-fund-wastin' jury trials. "Welcome to the new Socialist Republik of Kalimexifornia!" Anyway, I had a bellyful of such BS in that leftist dump, and I have NO intention of ever going through it again. So perhaps I should heed my own instincts here, and kill any potentially negative situation before it arises... kinda like a karmic abortion, lol. Believe me, I'm questioning my own kindness & compassion here...
STILL, IT BOTHERS ME THAT THE POOR CAT IS CONFINED AND FORCED TO LIVE IN SQUALOR...
P.S. The PTB found some OTHER criminal scrub queer to put in office in Dago, per the divisive globalist agenda...
Yeah, that happens around here too. My friend was having problems with the churchgoers being mad that he had piled up branches to be picked up by the city and it slightly blocked their sign (which is technically on his property-- as is the edge of the church-- they have taken 10ft of his property). They griped about it and then spread the branches out all over his yard and called the city to complain about it looking bad. It had looked far worse before he moved in (this was shortly after he started fixing the place up to make it livable-- it had pretty much been a crack den before). Before he had cameras, his stuff was getting stolen all the time. People from that church go in to Pizza Hut, make huge messes, are rude to the employees, let their kids run amok destroying things, complain about everything, refuse to tip, and were even spotted stealing tips left by other customers. But they think because they go to church that it makes it OK for them to lie, steal, and generally be jerks to people.Interesting you say that about the church next door. I am a volunteer at a church thrift store. We have very minimal hours for lack of volunteers so people leave donations in front of the building. EVERY TIME we go to open the store or work in it off hours, the town people have torn open all the plastic bags filled with donations and strew everything about looking to take what they want. I've tried that, but they would have to pay USPS to take the packages and they won't. USPS will only accept packages if they are paid by UPS or Fedex. I've asked about it in the past. Fedex tells me they can't deliver to USPS. Although, part of the problem is that some of these packages aren't even making it out of the shipping centers. My latest order is in Hutchins, TX again and things seem to get lost there. I thought Port Allen was bad. Amazon's shipping center there had entire delivery vans go missing.Since you constantly seem to have package issues, wouldn't a local P.O Box allow all your deliveries? I know many friends who utilize a P.O. Box to keep their deliveries off of their front porch where in my area, the porch pirates will steal your deliveries within an hour?
Eating is better!! I'm heading to the pool for fireworks pool party time!! I'll have a few for you Wing!!I'm turning into a party poser! Talked big story about taking a shot or two of rum, never even cracked the bottle, lol. Squawked about taking a belated birthday bong hit, never even got past cold beers on the couch, lol. But I did clean up some leftovers in the fridge, and tomorrow's another day, lol. Probably won't get around to that bong hit till Christmas... meh, no worries, sometimes the freedom lies in knowing I COULD if I really wanted to do it, lol. CHEERS!!!
