ssonb, will that work on desks and in drawers that have kitchen utensils and snacks? I meant to say the roaches were all over the living room, not Mom's room. Her desk is absolutely crawling with them. They are also in the microwave. I discovered that even 20min of the microwave running does not kill them.

Big Z.. Ya do not need to coat everything. In the kitchen area pull the bottom drawers out and blow a dose under the cabinets. The way them kritters run around they will soon track it everywhere.
Now remember it will take some time but after a cupla months you will notice a drop off in the number you see runnin around. What you will notice about the time the biguns go away there will be an influx of little ones, this is the eggs hatching that were laid by the adults, just be patient the lil ones need to track thru the powder that you already have out ,no need to reapply .
After six months or so there will be no infestation but there will be interloper's travlin thru attracted by any foodstuffs lying around.

A week in the freezer won't either, neither will a 25,000 volt stun gun!

Everybody has a "Duct tape and jelly" moment at least once in their lives,
sometimes even a "Trombone and chocolate sprinkles" Moment. BUT, I think we're too old to think about that stuff. LOL

So, my brother came home sick and wasn't covering his mouth while coughing in the room with us. So now Mom and I are sick. I've just about lost my voice. Naprosyn helped with the sore throat, headache, and back ache. But I have to go to the store to get medicine. Also, my new microwave (less than a year old-- ordered a little less than a year ago) crapped out last night. Shut off and had error H97. I try to contact Panasonic bc it's under warranty and try to use their live chat and it says its closed and lists the hours. It's during those hours. Ugh.

Bought it on Nov 13 last year and also got the 4yr protection plan from asurion on Amazon but couldn't find how to register it with asurion. So, it was a useless warranty and I don't know if there are any repair places nearby. If they want me to mail it to them they might as well have me buy a whole new microwave for what it would cost in shipping. I really liked this one and it was working fine until it just suddenly crapped out. It's tripled in price too. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010RWYPBK/

Can't get on the phone since they won't be able to hear/understand me with my voice out (and I hate talking on the phone) and I am too tired to deal with this crap.

I have to keep it clean but Fedex strikes again. Apparently the driver thinks this is "at the front door".

The photo they sent me (which has my license plate) clearly shows it was raining when they left the packages.

Also found out that the warranty on panasonic microwaves is voided if they find even one cockroach inside. So, we're screwed unless we can get someone to fix it for free or low cost. Might be able to get free parts, but not sure. We still have the old one that was identical-- got killed by a power surge. *Might* have parts we can re-use.

And yeah, maybe I'm petty for being mad about my packages being left on the sidewalk, but it was in the rain. Boxes were soaked. Fedex employee said they are filing a formal complaint on my behalf bc this is a recurring issue. Seriously tempted to set up some sort of covering over the walkway so if they do leave my stuff on the sidewalk it won't get rained on.

Duct tape & honey.

@Amish Heart I really hate clothing shopping. Especially when it involves trying stuff on. Last time I went to a store with my sister she tried like 30 things. She loaded up a cart, I brought stuff to her 5 at a time (that was the limit for trying on) hung stuff she wanted in one spot, took the other stuff she didn't want out (after putting it back on the hangers) and took them out to the area where unwanted garments went. She had a great time bc apparently none of her friends had the patience to do that for her but I was bored out of my mind. I don't like trying on clothes myself. It took so long too. And there were some things she was on the fence about so I had a "maybe" section hung up for her. Must be much worse with kids though. They can be indecisive and change their minds a lot.

You should see the porches of some of the places where they do deliver packages. Believe it or not, there are worse porches than mine.

Yeah, mine is a mess. The pic Supverisor posted was from before I cut the weeds, moved stuff on the porch a little, painted the door, pulled down some vines, and cleaned the siding a bit. As you can see in my photo, the weeds were not in the way. The instructions were to leave the packages on the step or next to the step at the door.

The Fedex people saw the photos and said that it was still not acceptable for the driver to leave my packages in the rain. However, the lady who called said that perhaps the driver was frightened of my 15lb chiweenie that was in the photo they posted of where they left the packages. Said the driver should have called or honked the horn though so someone could come out.

To be clear, I would not have been so irritated with the driver if the packages had not been left in the rain and if it was not the first time they had left my stuff out in the rain. This is a recurring problem. Also, if they are going to leave it on the sidewalk near the gate, put that as the location where it was placed-- not "at front door". Be honest about it. I was told they will work with the driver and the people who send the driver out on this to make sure it doesn't happen again. Driver can call me first or honk the horn upon arrival if there is any issue.

They woke me up with the phone call. I had trouble sleeping due to feeling sick & having post-nasal drip. Started coughing so hard I saw stars. Then I coughed so hard I threw up a few times. Keep alternating between having the chills and feeling overheated and sweating.

Edit: Adding that I know I really need to clean up the porch & the trash and stuff. Before I cut the weeds my friend said the house looked abandoned. That is on my "to do" list when it isn't raining and I'm not sick as a dog.

Get yourself a tarp, some poles (old broomstick handles or whatever), cord and stakes and make a Baker Tent type shelter out near that gate. Throw a pallet in there to serve as flooring to keep things elevated above potentially wet ground. Put a sign in front of it "Deliver Packages Here".

Sorry people felt they needed to respond RUDELY to your post!!

@Magus My dish aligns itself. I think they took on more customers than they can handle and the bandwidth isn't enough for all of us. I do need to get up on that pole and fix the mount for the thing though.

More trouble with deliveries again. I ordered something from Amazon last week. It was supposed to arrive by today but it hasn't even been shipped yet. They created a label for it but haven't forked it over to UPS. I'm either going to have to get a replacement or pester them to actually send it. I will probably be contacting Amazon about it tomorrow.
UPS delivers for Amazon where you live? We see Amazon Prime vans here.

OH Man. I forgot how crazy it is to take a child or grandchild pants shopping. Over an hr of trying on pants. I was standing there in Walmart, thinking, just shoot me now.
We were gone for hrs and came home with four pair. Thank God.
I feel for you! So glad I don't have to go clothing shopping with a child anymore. Because of my back issues, I cannot stand for endless amounts of time. I'm always looking for a place to sit down. Daughter also has ADD and "can't decide." I finally said that we can go shopping anywhere that has chairs to sit in, so I can sit while she went on and on and on, until she finally decided. One time, she HAD to decide, because we left school at 4:00, which was the official end of the work day, and shopped until almost 9 pm, because she couldn't decide. Finally, stores were going to close and she HAD to decide.

I'd be having some fun and making some signs for drivers. I would put some arrows on them and say, "Front door." "Not there yet." "Keep going." "!00 feet until the front door." And for the last one, something fun like, "Front door!" And on the way out, a sign that says, "Thank you!"

When we had an election some years ago, whenever I saw campaign signs after the election was over, I would stop, remove them and take them home. I'm talking about the corrugated plastic signs that are on metal brackets that go into the ground.

I took them home, repainted them and used them for other things.

I have made garage sale signs that I have loaned out a few times.

I have two that say: "Beware, barking dog." When dogs are in my yard, they are hidden by the neighbors fences until people are right there and the dogs have scared the wits out of people so the signs have been a big help.

I have also made some street sweeping signs so that people know not to park on the street at the dog park on street sweeping days, at $50 a pop. I take them over every time and move them to the other side the next day.

I also made some signs for the community garden. There is a need to ask for help to water plots. When I first joined, they used the red flags from Home Depot that are on a stiff wire, or so they said. I never saw them. Now they have a dozen nice signs that say, "Water me," for their 50 + plots.

This reminds me of the early days of online shopping. Except without the convenience. I wonder how long it will be before people start stealing the picture frames?
I totally understand this and think it is something that stores may HAVE to do to survive. Maybe the day of creating a cart and scanning all the things you want from a tag will be here because of the amount of shoplifting going on.

Since shoplifting has become a thing, stores do not bother with anything less than $50 in value. There are a couple Walgreens where people go in, fill up a backpack or shopping bag and walk out. I hear the same is true at Home Depot. Need a pair of work gloves? Go help yourself at Home Depot. They won't say a word.

I think I said this before, but one day I was in Dollar Tree being checked out. A man walked in the door and all the employees started telling him to get out. Evidently he was a frequent flier for coming in and shoplifting.

I once knew a young man who told me he stole Chapstick in a store. He got caught and was banned from the store.

Maybe facial recognition could be coming into use to keep the frequent shoplifters out too.

Little granddaughter is impossible to fit properly for pants, that's why it's such a pain. And she has this thought, like many young girls, that tight pants are good fitting pants. Not so. She's maybe 5 feet tall, age 12, and wears a woman's size 16 short pants. She will not ever be easy to fit until she drops some of the baby fat on the waist and grows a bit taller.

I wear a tall pant size, when I can find them. Once I know where I can find them, or my narrow shoes, I tune in and shop there for more, having multiples of the same thing. Walmart had knit pants that were great and came in tall! I went to one Walmart and they only had short. I asked the woman working the department, where are the tall ones and she couldn't tell me why they only had pants in short and no pants in tall. I said that the person who does the ordering must be short. She said they were. I think I was talking to her!

I am not easily offended so I did not take it as rudeness, but I appreciate your thoughtfulness, Pearl. I see it as inspiration to get things cleaned up more once I get over this respiratory crud. I grew up in a household where we poked fun at each other all the time and knew it wasn't to be taken seriously.

Haertig, I've never had much luck with tarps. The cow shreds them with her horns and the wind takes them for a ride. Also, my front gate is over 300ft from my house. I am thinking of setting up some sort of covering over the sidewalk though. I'd love to get a car port that extends over where we park all the way across the driveway so we could get in and out of the truck without getting in the hot sun or rain. Mom doesn't like that idea bc she thinks it would be "ugly"- as if the place isn't ugly right now.

I need to keep checking on Mom so she doesn't get dehydrated. She feels awful & doesn't want to eat or drink anything. I'm still getting chills and sinus headache. Mom complained of sinus headache too. I said we'll have to call the doctor on Monday and schedule an appointment for her.

With the way my nose is feeling I wish they still did the old style Covid tests where they clean out the entire nasal passage. It was uncomfortable while it was being done but my nose felt better than it had in years.
