@Amish Heart sorry to hear husband has had a fall never good, yep relate to stubborn have an ex military one here. Hope your thumb heals well but I am sure that would not have tickled.

We have days like that quite often here @Tank-Girl but we don't go back outside , figuring that it will be there tomorrow when we have more energy.

Yesterday we separated some more dried lavender picked from the gardens making 21 more grams, trimmed the rosemary and hung the bunches to dry, cut more lavender flowers and hung them to dry. Then onto the kitchen where we made 2 apple pies and a pizza for dinner last night and had half of the pizza for dinner along with some apple pie each.

I bet things smell wonderful at your place!

Went to the 4-H sale, didn't sell the 2 goat kids we took(at the sale) and paid way to much for a pig.

The people that bought my 2 kids after the sale picked them up this morning and want to buy the buck I've been thinking of selling. They said they were going to go build him a pen and will call when its ready.

I mowed the yard and during the process I thought I'd lost a hen duck,I found her though sitting on a nest of 4 eggs so I took them,I'm not allowing any to sit after what happened a few years ago. Today's lock down day for the incubator, there's already 2 pipping and they're not suppose to hatch until Wednesday .

Saturday morning mixed up 15 gallons of weed killer, spayed for a few hours. Went and watched our daughter march in the strawberry festival parade, went home and sprayed some more. Mixed up another 15 gallons and sprayed some more. Sunday I went to church......Wife didn't want to do anything for mothers day so I sprayed some more.........If nothing else I should have very little weed eating to do. Should cut my weed eating time down from 6-8 hours to about 45 mins.............YAY! I also trimmed some trees up so I can get under them with the tractor.

Husband feeling worse today painwise, so we went to the ER this morning...home about 8 hrs later. Got his breathing under control, xrayed hip, shoulder, and lungs. Nothing broken and no pneumonia. He tore something on his upper thigh and on his shoulder. So pain pills, but having to keep him on oxygen because the oxy will make his sleep apnea worse. All in all he's better. Son took care of the grandkids for the day. Two daughters joined us at the hospital, and another one came to the house to make sure all was well. She works at the same hospital, but graveshift. Luckily we got home about 6 p.m. Funny thing happened, our son has two very broody silkies. They sit on everyones eggs in one nest. They take turns getting up. He put a few large chicken eggs under them, and three hatched last week. He also put two of our turkey eggs under them. Today two turkeys hatched! Can't imagine what went through that silkies mind when she hatched two large turkeys. They're in the brooder now, cute as buttons. One Royal Palm, and one Slate. Need to get in the shower and get ready for an early morning at work.

Went and got mom's petunia's for Mother's day.
This is what you get when I ask more than four times and get the answer"Well, I don't know that I want anything" or my favorite answer
" I think maybe I want a Bleeding Heart or and Orchid". "No, I don't know what I want, but something pretty."
She got 12 pink, white and red petunia's and a Better Boy tomato plant.
I got a goose egg on my forehead when she moved the wooden temperature gauge on clothes line while I was bent over.
Yep got the goose egg when I raised up.
Dad was happy for the tomato plant.
Lucky me got to take mom back to Wal*Mart to update her cell phone.
Dad paid for phone. Even though she's not his mom.
Took her 3.5 hours to pick out new "Smartphone" for dummies(her words not mine).
And for them to transfer everything over.
So now she can text, she has a camera on it.
My nephew and I laughed when we saw her picture of her thumb.
She wouldn't let us delete it.
She was pretty proud.
Dad cooked fish for Mother's Day.
Mom's not allowed to drive right now.
So today I was the driver.

@Patchouli yes our home smells great we have sage drying on a rack on the shaded veranda, in the hallway on curtain rails we have rosemary drying one end and on the other end is the lavender. Depending which way you walk down the hallway you get a lovely different smell :) . Glad you had a good spiritual day at church.

Started off the morning with making 2 more bread bags for my internet shop and listed 1 this afternoon in my eBay shop along with 9 other items using a free listing promotion. DH put on a loaf of bread in the bread making machine to cook.

After lunch I planted 40 more capsicum seeds and some silver beet seeds in the gardens while DH started digging up some Canna lilies and native lilies from the other side of the house flower gardens and digging out some nightshade which he put in the bin along with the trimmings from the canna lilies. We then planted them in the newly amended garden bed on the opposite side of the house and watered them in.

Easy day yesterday! Church in the morning and not much else. Italian subs and potato salad for dinner. Today, I've been messing around in the garden area already, have to run to the post office and to get one more bag of top soil and ice. I need to google and find a you tube video on how to fix my ice maker. Probably easy and it hasn't worked since we bought the house. I have to do a little eBay today and that's about it, I think.

Got the coop cleaned and hosed out. Decided to get herd #3 from Tractor Supply instead of mail order. Drove to TS, put a big bag of chick starter and a bale of bedding in the cart. Ask the check out lady when TS chick days started. She said they ended a month ago. Got home, unloaded the feed and bedding. Went on line and ordered 8 Golden Buffs. Hatch date May 30th.

I went to a funeral this afternoon, my aunt, she fought cancer almost a decade. My dad held the graveside service. It's been a while since I heard him preach. I'd forgotten how long winded he was. 20 minutes in and I'm thinking "Dad, it's 92 degrees and a bunch of old people standing in the hot alabama sun. If you don't wind this up soon you'll be holding more services"

I finally got to see my head stone. My parents and I purchased our head stones last winter. Sort of gave me the willies. I was happy to see there was only one date carved in it. :D

Tonight my great nephew is graduating from high school. I guess I'll attend, at least it's outside on the football field.

Sorry to hear about your aunt. I've been to several funerals that were like that mostly in the south. They go from funeral to full blown sermons pretty quick. Glad everyone got threw it and he didn't have to preach another one while ya'll were there:ghostly:

we went by walmart and bought washing powders, bleach, dryer sheets[which will probably last a couple of years since we don't use the dryer that much], sugar substitute for hubby, and a new calculator for me. i'm not a math genius.:D also picked up my Mother's medicine for her. my sister, older brother and i are trying to convince our parent's to move down here closer to us so we can take care of them. at this time they live at least 30 minutes away, and i don't really want to drive that far everyday. hubby and i want to pull our truck off the road as much as possible. he has a work truck furnished by his employer.

Got the new fence garden clear of wire grass. Ripping out grass with a mattock ain't fun when you can't get your elbows higher than your shoulders. I just can't get enough power behind the swing. I know when I swing too high because I can feel my shoulder subluxating (partial dislocation) and if I stop the instant I feel it it won't go into full dislocation and roll back into place by it's self without pinching a nerve.
I gathered up all the chipped out grass and gave it to the chickens.

I finally planted out the hakari turnips. I had awesome germination with these. Considering the really poor germination I had with all my other seeds
I went over board sowing my flats and they were really crowded when they came up.
Lessons learned.
I also learned I can't plant in straight rows to save my life. I need to put down a string line to follow or my rows will look a dogs hind leg....again.
If it wasn't so hot atm I'd be replanting them and I just know it's going to irritate me to death every time I see the rows until harvest time.

Time for a cold drink and a long rest until it's afternoon and get some more done.

Took Estelle to see my parents, while my os(oldest son) tried to explain to grandma(my mom) how to turn on her new phone
Estelle and my dad could become buddies at least foodie buddies.
Every time he sees her he feed her something.
Today it was ham, watermelon, fried potatoes, watermelon, cheerios, watermelon.
Gave her juice today, she drank it right up.
He's holding her, she reaches up pats his cheek, grins great big, yep gives him a surprise Blowout.
Down his shirt, waist, drips down to the floor.
She leans over to look, looks at her dad, great grandma, grandad, smiles at him again.
Me I'm just laughing.
Warned him, he didn't listen......:p:green man:
He just pats her back and tells her it's okay.

I was walking my daughter's Rhodesian ridgeback today. We came up a flight of 8 steps from one level to another. I had her leash in my right hand, but from behind me, she went to my left side. Then she saw a rabbit, which she loves to chase. She took off running after the rabbit, which spun me around 360 degrees in about 2 seconds. Fortunately there was a tall sturdy bush there that I could grab onto to steady myself. I was sure I was going to fall down and almost did. By the time I could steady myself and look, I saw the dog rounding the corner two buildings away. I ran over there and she was coming back, looking for the rabbit. This is the same place where she found a baby bunny almost 3 weeks ago. I have seen rabbits there, and then they are just gone. I believe they have a den or hole in that area. We looked and looked for a rabbit's den so the baby bunny could go with its family with no luck. The dog is strong and that running and chasing instinct is also strong in her. I often make sure I get a good grip on the leash and for a split second thought that was what I needed to do today, then realized that was not going to work for me, so I let go of the leash. I was also concerned that she would run into the street and get hit, or go chasing somewhere and I would not be able to find her.

Did you know that a Rhodesian ridgeback is part greyhound? They are the second fastest dogs, after greyhounds. And they are very strong dogs.

@Weedygarden I grew up with a Rhodesian ridgeback as a family pet and yes they are very strong and run like the wind and they love children too and despite their size they are incredibly gentle. I used to take our ridgeback for runs along the beach and despite the fact I run fast when he was at full gallop I was airborne behind him hanging onto the leash.

He was a rescue dog we got from the RSPCA and obviously had been brought up around children and taught to bring children back in from the water if they were too deep. When we first got him I took him to the beach and he brought my two in to the shore by hanging onto their shirts and pulling them in. Only problem was he did it with other people's children and one fishermen thought he was attacking mine until I stopped him and told him what was going on. We had about 12 children running in the water deep with the dog bringing them all back in they had a fantastic time and the parents were all glad for a break I think :).

5 oc this morning and a bit brisk but the inside of the house was warm with the combustion fireplace going. After it warmed up a bit I stained removed some clothing and put on a load of washing and hung it out and watered the newly planted canna lilies and part of the driveway with the saved grey water from our showers and washing machine.

I then picked 5 bunches of silver beet from the gardens and we blanched and froze them for 8 more meals for the freezer and I watered the newly sprouted broccoli seeds in the gardens and brought in the load of washing.

Tonight's dinner is a mince stir fry with silver beet, beans and sweet potato we have picked previously and frozen from the gardens.
