Hmm. Are they protected in Missouri? Mountain Lions have returned to Iowa, but they have no official status. See one, shoot one.

Time to organize a bear hunt...

They had the first bear hunt here last fall and only a few tags were let out. Arkansas has a regular bear season every year which we are only about 15 miles from the Arkansas line.

I think if it's raiding your garbage it's a danger to society and your safety and must be eliminated immediately!

Think that'll work when the DNR shows up? Probably not...

When I left for work this morning I noticed my shop door was open. I stopped to see what had happened and noticed a bag of trash I had sitting in my shop up the hill tore all to pieces. I inspected closer and there were bear tracks all over the shop where he had stepped in oil where my old Harley sits and walked around. Looks like it pushed the door open, I probably didn’t have it shut good anyway and drug the trash bag up the hill and tore it up. Bears are new to our area but this makes several times we have had them in our trash and making messes around our place.

Survived the granddaughter's 2 hr dentist appt. Husband took grandson to the eye doc. Then he took them both thru the chic fil a drivethrough and back to school. i went to the salvage store in the town we were in and found alot of good food buys. Food was 25% off today. Grandkids will be happy, Ramen was 17 cents each before the discount, and I don't buy it too often. Their can food is scratch and dent, but 49 cents. Found some Classico pasta sauce for a buck, before the discount.
Husband is now wiped out and has had enough of listening to teenage gossip and angst all morning. I think he's going to take the mower out. I have plenty to do.

Did too much yesterday so today my foot hurts (injury a few years ago) and I am not doing too much.
It's been looking like it is going to rain for several days, and it was supposed to rain but somehow the storms go around us. So I have had to water the plants I just planted in the garden.

Yesterday I cleaned the entire house, gave the stinky dog a bath, cleaned 7 wheelbarrows out of dirty barn since husband didn't clean much the day before when I went shopping with son. Did get that new washer but haven't used it. We will see if it works. I really wished they had stopped "improving" appliances about 30 years ago!!! They were better then, no electronic crap, no locks, not too much to break and easy to fix. So called "progress" is not always good

I think I have "entertainment" burnout. Here I am sitting trying to find something to watch on Netflix, youtube or hulu and I just can't find anything I want to watch but I need to stay off my foot so there is nothing else to do at the moment

Walked first and walked dogs.
Went to local grocery for pork sale. Good deals!
Stopped at a couple other stores.
Went to thrift store--Got the deal of the century!!! 9 tray Excaliber dehydrator with book and inserts for trays for $30!!!
Going to do some apples in a few minutes since I had a bag sitting around.

Yes, I was dancing around at the thrift store!!!

Bear is delicious - Hubby's favorite. BBQ bear-kabobs 😁 We once had one get in our shop and bite into a jug of used motor oil - that was lovely to clean up.
@snappy1 Score! Happy dance :dancing:
@UrbanHunter I hope you get some down time soon. You are always doing for others - hope they are appreciative.

Snowed here this morning  It's beautiful but about 2+ months late. I can't complain since we need the moisture and other places are dealing with those spinny things. The Azure Standard truck broke down with my partial order. Wheat and sugar were in stock when I confirmed the order but were evidently Out of Stock by the time they loaded the truck 🤬. A local place got some in but the kid said they need to reprice and get it ready to put on the shelf & that it could take a while. I said a while meaning a couple hours or a couple days? He replied "Yea". I said which one? "Duuuh, a couple days." I get so tired of dealing with "Duh" activated people. Got back to the shop and dealt with another issue - hung up the phone and asked if it was Tequila Tuesday yet! 😂 I know it sounds like a bit of a rant, but I'm really not that grumpy at the moment. Just keep me away from stupid 😊

BacP, a dose of yellowroot would sure help you. (or usnea, or...). I take antiviral tinctures I've made fairly often in winter, several to choose from. Anyway, I've found that keeping wild medicines in my system year round helps me stay bug free.
Doing different tinctures is high on my list. But I'm not there yet. Iding stuff is my first step. I've got some things on the property, but probably not a lot. So time needed to find it elsewhere. Need to order some stuff for now

Going to town to fill up the grocery list; not much there but it's best to stay on top of it.

@sonya123 , have you tried watching Tubi ,?
It's free .
We watch a lot of movies on Tubi.

J8m

hahaha, I typed in "foreign language movies" because I like Korean and Bollywood movies, and ....got porn lol!
But thanks
I think maybe I don't want to watch anything and am annoyed at having to be inactive for a day

Making Challah bread for Easter dinner with my folks. It is rising before it is baked right now. I haven't had it in years. This is my first time making it. If it turns out this might be a new Easter tradition for us.

I have a few bunnies getting ready to go to new homes. The money they will bring in will cover feed for the breeders for the next 6 months. That will be about the time a new batch of bunnies will be ready to sell or grow out before they head to freezer camp. Still trying to figure out which baby doe we will keep as added breeding stock. They are all friendly and sweet. They have the same sire even though the dams are different. Our other buck will be their breeding partner when they are mature.

Which would you pick?

Took a break from work for a few minutes to solve a storage issue in our bathroom.
My wife recently got her hair cut (1st one in 15+ years, took off almost 8"!) and styled and has taken to using a hair dryer again, since she has curls now.

Tried several usual locations, but none of them stuck, until now.

I was looking in the mirror and saw a blank spot on a shelf unit we have and thought "That's the spot!".

They are all equally adorable, just like our goat kids!!

Challah bread: if you need a good recipe I have one. I sell these at the farmers market and they are usually one of the first ones gone

My mom asked me to make it for the dinner and told me to use the recipe from the Bread Book she gave me last time I visited. It is an old book that is falling apart but she taped it back together over the years. It looks like it turned out and wasn't as hard as I remember. I miss making bread from scratch. I make it now but use my bread maker.

Rabbits were always my favorite animal as a child. They were soft and quiet. I couldn't choose because I would want them all!

I like Honey's Agouti, but I have no knowledge about rabbits, I would love to have a couple. But every time I feel comfortable about growing anything I find myself traveling for 3 or 4 weeks in a row. I have lost more than 1 gardening season to traveling during June and July....

Since the only time we will really be traveling it will be for the big move we are taking the rabbits with us. I have started gathering the supplies to make the travel cages. Way cheaper than buying carriers.

Exhausted tonight, the good kind. Spent the day on the mountain, taking photos of plants. I saw things I didn’t know happened in nature. Acres of medicines… Both Blue and Black Cohosh, Soloman’s Seal and dozens more. Even went to a couple secret spots full of ginseng, it hasn’t leafed out yet.

That was the problem all day, I was there too early. Spring is late this year, still cold on the mountain. First pic, I could see the spring line on the mountain side, below the forest floor was covered with green, above the line… nothing but brown. Didn’t see a single morel mushroom either, bummer. I was hoping to bring home a bag of it. I did see a couple dozen species I’ve never seen before like Fragrant Sumac (Rhus aromatica), tastes like lemons.

The biggest disappointment was no Ramps! We were in a 4-wheel drive truck, when the truck couldn’t go further we walked just over a mile. A raging creek stopped us, we couldn’t get across to the ramps! This is the same creek further down mountain… Pics 2&3 Black Creek, Noccalula Falls.

Anyway, had a wonderful day, to tired to think tonight.

Spring line on the mountain..

Noccalula Falls... Black Creek, a raging torrent today after 4 inches of rain.

Today I planted two Cherokee Purple tomatoes...one in a pot and one in the ground, all my potatoes, my nasturtium, I had some work done on the house, I dehydrated some bananas...made both leathers and chips (YUM!) And then I found out my handyman is trying to homestead so I dug him up a blackberry vine.

Hearing that they're worried there will be another explosion at the natural gas plant, so they are evacuating the area again this time to our town. The sheriff and reporters staging area was moved back to my favorite cousin's road. She's probably having a fit. That first explosion was a little after 1 this afternoon.
I betcha some won't evacuate.
