Could be your footgear... go easy, Peanut, we don't wanna lose ya!
NO TEXAS NOW!!The day job has been kicking my butt, we have a big project that's supposed to kick off 8/1 and is rapidly becoming quite a beast. The good new is, I just got off the hook for traveling to Texas for it - not that I have anything against TX, I'd just rather spend a couple weeks there in November than July. I also have a lot I want to do in the yard the next little bit, and have some things going on at home I don't want to be away for.
Harvested about a pint of black raspberries from our little patch the last week or so - so far I've been doing good staying ahead of the birds. The rest of my gardens are producing fairly lamely, but sounds like that's pretty typical this season.
And speaking of things not working, our washing machine has randomly started quitting mid-way through the wash cycle. Control board and door lock (the most likely causes) come to $750, so it's just not cost effective to repair. Having replaced an oven and a dishwasher last month I'm pretty grumpy about another appliance going out.
That's been done to me also....took daughter out for Ashby's ice cream, and then made her watch the original "Highlander" movie against her will...
Those nettle patches have a way of sharpening perception. We even have them here in the rocky mountains of montana USA. Also recommended is buffalo petting for a diversion to get your mind off exploding food prices and scarcity. So this should be in 'how I did NOT save money today'. Town day- did my usual check of 3 supermarkets discount fridges. Only scored two packs of bagels at half price. Spent about €20 on some items I don't need immediately (for an upcoming family event)
Realised the supermarkets are really busy- odd for a mid-week in the summer. Only one check out open so huge queues, ended up going to self service which I never do, but the ticket on my car had run out. The queue behind me was huge and in my fluster I didn't use my money off vouchers- which was the whole reason I was there. Everything had a few more cents on it also since last week, so I've now spent 50 quid more than I intended. I'm going to have some lunch and take it out on a nettle patch I've been saving for such an occasion!
Give me a holler if the ATV needs some TLC. I have been working in shops since before there were four wheelers.Day 1 of the quad excavation.
Stuff had just been pilled and the left door could not open.

Trust me there is a quad under that pile

Rearranged enough to get the other door open.

Dug deep enough to see the back left tire is low. Not flat.

For the most part I will be moving stuff to that cleaned out back porch until I can get the quad out. Then it will get moved back into the shed on the shelving that there for fertilizers etc. It used to be a nice organized shed. A goal worth waiting for.

I'm not much one for heat these days - my company has a plant in St George, UT and my first trip down there was in Aug. where I spent two days in a man basket installing wifi antennas and security cameras over a tin roof in 117 degree heat. Funny thing is I was a lifeguard all through HS & college and loved sitting out in the warm sun all day - but anymore I'll take the moderate temps, not to hot and not too cold. So, @TeeJ , you really should try it in the heat of the summer (Texas).
Brother, I feel your pain on the washer. I tried to do another load and ended up taking it out of the washer, kind of not soaking wet, to the laundromat to run it through so I could bring it back home and put it in my dryer. Mind you the offspring are still doing theirs just fine in the same washer. One of them even supervised me.
There are no signs telling you how much per load until you close the washer door. Paid $3.50 for a medium size load, couldn't do any adjustments on what I wanted to do (spin). A customer told me it was $8.50 to use the large washer. I didn't need the dryer so I don't know how much that costs.
That's a good point, not having to deal with the machines breaking would be nice... in college there was one close to my apartment that housed the laundromat on one side and had a bakery on the other. A couple of donuts every laundry day really sweetened the deal!@TeeJ I'm relegated to using a laundromat. The building I live in is over 100 years old and has no place for a washer/dryer. I do 3 or 4 loads, occasionally five, every other week when I get back from work. Yes, it's expensive at $25 a month or more but then I figure I don't have to pay for any repairs or extra water and the laundromat is less than a block away. Not a huge deal to me...
This may sound strange, but you might want to talk to your doctor about a refefral to an ENT (Ear Nose Throat) specialist. It could be an inner ear issue. My mother had some damage (no idea how it happened) to her inner ear that affects her balance. She starts to fall over while walking because of it. She also has Tinnitus but that came after the balance problem. It could be something else as well, but its best to get things checked out to rule things out.No, don't scuff. In fact I'm at the other extreme. I make almost no sound while walking normally. I've been startling people since I was a kid because they didn't hear me walk up next to them.
No, this a relatively new thing. Twice walking across an asphalt parking lot. Not a place I'd expect it to happen.
Maybe I'm losing my balance for a couple seconds and don't realize it. A weird blood pressure drop or increase that happens instantly and disappears just as quickly?
If this happens again... there's a problem.
Thank you!Give me a holler if the ATV needs some TLC. I have been working in shops since before there were four wheelers.
@Peanut, I was going to mention the possible ENT connection, too. Inner ear issues cause balance problems that show up with a quick movement or change of elevation (such as sitting to standing). And it's not always readily apparent that it's an ear issue (doesn't "feel" like an ear issue).
I'm no doc, just someone who's had that problem.
Why would you give away free food? Especially these days? Good words = BBQ, Fricassee, Rotisserie, Fried, Baked. . .Our young rooster started crowing today. Out of 14 chicks he seems to be the only one so far. Now to put up a add for a free rooster.
Our little garden has exploded from unseasonable rain and the weeds are trying to choke it out . Great way to start the day watering and walking thru the amazing growth.
We do tours and this week has been the group from hell so over dinner the wife and I decided to just tell them to keep their money it isn't working out for anybody......what a relief and good practice to put down limits for spoiled adults......life's too short to deal with mean people.
GA is Texas without border bunnies and as much heat! its only 90 today.NO TEXAS NOW!! ♥
@ABR & @Peanut I hope you both feel better soon!
@Spikedriver That's horrible! I'm so sorry. I'm glad the little girl is alright.
