Hashbrown, nice photos!

We had a great day at the market yesterday, sold out made the most money ever. I ended up giving away the rest of the zuccini at the end to some crafts vendors since they didn't have any
Weather was nice also

But more rain coming today :(( I think our garden is now past it's peak
Son dug up 2 5 gallon buckets of potatoes so far, but there is more in the ground
We are not selling those

Today I am going to make pasta sauce out of the tomatoes we have left ( the less than perfect ones we didn't sell) , start rotating freezers to defrost them since we have an almost empty one now .
We also need to go shopping. Need propane refills, and some food our son's friend that is coming to visit will eat, he's picky, overweight and mostly eats junk...so I need to get some hot dogs , chips and ground beef . I am also going to bake bread for us, sold out on that yesterday all 20 loaves I bake Friday

Hope everyone has a good Sunday!

Cut off a branch on neighbors tree that was getting into my utility wires. Dragged them into the back, then pushed brush down the hill into the "pit of despair". Now there is room for the new stuff I just cut, too bad it's raining :D

I cannot just sit and watch a movie,
Me, either! That's how I get caught up on this website, usually. LOL

Already set up my vities for the month.
Going to Sunday school, greet and then Church.
Walk dogs.
Pick figs.
Thaw pears to cook down tomorrow. I have more than 4 gallons in the freezer!
Not much else planned. Yay!

More nothing. I'm curled up with about half my cats, Shredder has seen fit to grace me with her august presence, so that means Ma wildcat is probably under the sink.
Something has them bugged lately, I need to find out what and do a mag dump in its skull.

The dogs trip to the vet was good. He did give me some meds to help his gut get right n itchy skin calm down.
I stayed up super late last night outside. The stars were incredible. I finally saw the starlink train. It was short though. I saw a few falling stars but not as many as I thought I'd see. Lots of other stuff floating about.
Beautiful night out..I'll likely do it again tonight.

My sister and her husband are home from Turkey, staying at Pop's house this weekend, and so my daughter and I are visiting with them. They gave a presentation about their missionary work with Muslims in Turkey at a tiny local country church this morning so we went there to support them. This afternoon and evening we're going to my brother's place for family time and a meal.

Have a great Sunday, everybody!

Bear is on limited activity, so we are playing basketball!! He has his cone on so I have him sit across the room and I throw small stuffed dog toys to him. I just aim at the cone!!😃 He'll sit and stay, so I'll throw one, he'll drop it and wait for the next one! Some good mental activity without running or jumping! Hubby is over in his shop trying to get the tranny out of my Sunfire!😮😟 Needless to say they can really cram that front wheel drive stuff in those little cars! I'll keep my distance😉🙂, though I could probably learn a few new cuss words over there!! Bear is winding down, I'm heading for the pool and some ice cold beer in the hot sun!!

The Perseid Meteor Shower is coming up in August, always a crowd pleaser, lol...

Best solo night of my life involved watching the Perseids from the summit of Isla Norte in the Coronados... :)

I'm just taking it easy today, typical Sunday... saw this plate on a vehicle and thought of Hashbrown, lol.

Didn't do much of anything outdoors over the weekend like go to the archery range, put my firewood away etc because of rain and a sneaky, worrying pain in my left hip.

I'm expecting a lot of deliveries today and tomorrow.
I buy bulk on-line of my most needed things because of the amount of Karen's out there.
Plus a lot of physical stores don't sell or even have the bulk I want.
It means I have to run the gauntlet of delayed shipping and extreme weather events that wash out roads and bridges.

Not too different than around here, I love watching the hens taking care of their young ones, starting to see more deer around, cougars must have wandered off to other areas, thankfully.

Celebrated husband's bday with a picnic at the lake, and then home for dinner yesterday. Have the 3 grandkids doc checkups today, so we'll all be going together. The last doc checkup we'll be responsible for for the twins. Husband has pulmonary rehab later, and I got him a side table set up for his office, that I'll be organizing for him today.

@Wingnut Here’s a link: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5310545.pdf
I don’t know what state you live in, each seems to have a variation of what constitutes “Classes of Noxious Weeds.”
“Class A noxious weeds are non-native species whose distribution in Washington State is still limited. Class B noxious weeds are nonnative species whose distribution is limited to portions of Washington State. Class C noxious weeds are widespread in Washington or are of special interest to the agricultural industry.”

Here in FL, it's so hot, I cannot deal with this heat. Too used to New England weather. 😆 Sat was travel all day, short flight to Maryland then a 4 hours layover. DH and I wandered around, had a nice lunch (crabcakes of course, have to when you're in MD) then sat at our gate reading. What we thought was our gate, B14. DH checked the plane we were supposed to be boarding and saw it landed but it wasn't at our gate. He went up to ask and yeah, the plane's at A10. So we had to walk from one wing of the airport to the other, kinda rushing, which sucks with DH's bad achilles tendon. Make it there a couple mins before boarding, stand and wait. 5 mins later they make an announcement that boarding is delayed due to a "stench" on the plane. A couple mins after that, the whole flight crew comes back off the plane with their bags and we're like wth. Thankfully they had another plane at the next gate and we weren't delayed too much. Had to wait for them to transfer the luggage and fuel the plane and whatnot. Got to Sarasota no problem but I'm glad we're not flying again any time soon. Niece picked us up and we went out to dinner, got to sis-in-laws, drank and had loud singing fun until about 1:30am then passed out.

Yesterday we spent 10-11 hours gutting the remaining items out of inlaws house. Had to pull boat out before finishing garage cleaning. Sorting things to take, to donate and to trash. Junk company picked up the trash, we dropped bags of clothes at donation place and packed away what we're bringing back. It was long and exhausting, both physically and emotionally. My MIL had been sick for a long time and she went through a lot of her keepsakes and tagged them with stickers and little messages for who she wanted them to go to. We found a pretty little pendant with my name and an I love you message on it. 😢

But it's done. I'm here waiting for the cleaning crew to come then pictures of the house tomorrow to put it up on the market. DH and I have to see if we can cover the boat (FIL installed a bimini cover and we're not sure if boat cover will fit over the hardware for it) then I'm hoping we can swing by a farm market and get some stuff to bring back. We love their pickled beets. Our new to us Ram is gonna be full to brim for the drive back home. We're heading out Wednesday morning and plan on stopping about halfway to sleep. Shooting to the home by Thursday night.

Funny you should mention that, Patchouli, I was just pulling weeds for an hour in my yard, lol. I now realize that there are over 1000 young puncturevines sprouting out there, might be double that number, and I never picked up the goldurned flamethrower yesterday, but today I'm heading to the Depot (and Harbor Freight) to compare prices and choose the most powerful flamethrower I can get (within my budget). I have plenty of propane (two tanks), so I'll probably go with a propane torch, but I want the hottest directed flame to burn out these weeds at their central root. Meh, I made more progress today, and hand-weeding is okay for the larger vines, but I need to burn down these little plants before they get any larger, that way they won't produce any seeds. If I can interrupt the life cycle of these vines enough to stall seed production, then hopefully the upcoming winter frosts will kill the rest. However, winter is months away, so (as Faez cheerfully noted) I may have to burn these pesky vines on a regular basis.

I thought I got a deal on this property, but now that I see how many puncturevines there are in my yard, I'm not so sure, lol. I'm just gonna carry on with my eradication program, one fine day I'll have a yard free of miserable goatheads...

Chaosdawn, it was very thoughtful of your relative to mark those objects of sentimental value... I know that's a tough gig, going through everything once a person has passed away, I had to do it after my mom passed, and truth be told, like many in her generation she was a bit of a hoarder. My advice: keep whatever means something to you, and donate the rest, or dump it if it is no longer useful. Don't forget to keep any and all deeds, titles, etc., hopefully your relative kept them in a safe place. Good luck to you, and be safe on the way home... an emotionally-draining experience like the one you're going through right now can leave you & your DH heller tired.

Got to Sarasota
Our house was in Whitfield Estates in North Sarasota. Lots of heat but the beach wasn't too far away!

Walked first this morning.
Have 5 gallons of hard pears (soft now) in the roaster to can in a little while.
Went to dig up potatoes and there were none. Leaving sweet potatoes and Jerusalem artichokes until October or so.
I think the rat is or will be gone--some of the poison is.
Only other job today is to keep looking for bookkeeping app that I like and understand.

Been painting / cleaning/ moving furniture, getting ready for visitors in two weeks' time. OH installed in a wooden floor in my room that I bought on sale eight months ago 😃 Visited my Dad today, about two hours away; resulting in me offering to host a family get-together next Sunday as he's not able. We also have a party here the following week- so I'm now making lists- I love a good list- of where to borrow chairs, food etc, and planning some batch cooking this week to take the pressure off.

Cooking and laundry today, and a roof inspection. It sounds like our insurance is going to cover things, hooray!! In the downhill run on the game jam — three days left, so it’s polish, credits, test … all that fun stuff.

Back to canning and garden and range time next week and I’m looking forward to it!

Bought a torch for the weeds, hope it's powerful enough to burn these puncturevines... gonna try it tomorrow morning, too hot out there right now, and I feel like firing up the BBQ this evening. The trash bin is now empty, so I'm gonna do more general weeding tomorrow, with added focus on goatheads... some of the other weeds are huge, but they come right up as one large plant, so I'll fill the bin again manana. Goatheads are the priority, gotta start annihilating those before they develop any further... I'm really hoping this torch does the trick, as the pine needle method will be unsuitable for certain areas. Meh, we'll find out soon enough... for now, it's a cold beer in the A/C, too darned hot out there!

I cleaned some more, changed out a bunch of burnt out lightbulbs. Unfortunately, I thought I had the ceiling fan globe secure but 10 minutes after I put it back on it fell and shattered. I'm a bit sad (not only bc I had to clean up glass everywhere) but because that globe was from the 80s.

At least we can see in that room.

Took my friend for his dental appointment for another denture adjustment. He said it was the first time since 2015 that he can chew without feeling pain. Sadly, last night he ate some boudin that was cool on the outside but hot on the inside. It stuck to the back of his throat and burned it. So he can't swallow without pain.

Stopped at Samsclub to grab some stuff and then went to the bank for my brother to handle the issue of the idiots having let someone drain his account AGAIN. They didn't follow the protocols to change his account info, they allowed a deactivated debit card to be used, & they also allowed his account to be overdrafted when he has overdrafting disabled. He's thinking of changing banks.

I went to the post office while he was in the bank. New girl there took forever but I finally got my package. She was nice but very slow. Speaking of slow, my friend's baby will be 2 years old in 19 days and the kid can't even say mama and dada yet.

My electric blanket turned up last night and I was so excited I put it on the bed straight away!

There was a sting in the tail though.
About 2 this morning I was woken with massive cramps, fever and my tongue plastered to the roof of my mouth.
I hadn't taken into account my cancer fevers so I cooked while I was asleep and woke up extremely dehydrated.

I mixed up a litre of hydrolite electroyte drink and drank one glass of plain water and then one glass of hydrolite until the hydrolite was gone.

I turned the electric blanket down to it's lowest setting and took all the quilts off the bed except the lightest one and I didn't have any more issues.
Live and learn.

Tore down 5he large format plotter today.

The township requires recycling or anything electronic and we have to pay for the service.
Doing the recycling myself I save the costs and end up with fodder for the shop and metal I can give to the guy that collects metal to cash in.

20220801_170441.jpg

Two long stainless steel shafts that can be very handy.

20220801_170446.jpg

Two 1/4 inch aluminum plates.

20220801_170450_HDR.jpg

And a sorted pile of fasteners, switches, and a nice 36V DC motor.

Cost me nothing but time and I had fun tearing it down. Bonus is I doesn't have to work when I am done.

Re: tomorrow...

But first last evening The Princess asked me to figure what was up with her microwave. She had cooked some rice and was about to cook some broccoli but no go. Determined the microwave is dead dead dead. She purchased a new one that she will pick-up after Tar Kwon Do tonight. My job will be to install it tomorrow.

While I was thinking how to reheat food she said "Isn't there a microwave in the other kitchen?" Yup. Nice having a spare kitchen.

Ben

You are reminding me of everyone around here, Ben...breaking down everything. Selling metal stuff for salvage. Might as well! More screws and bolts for the jars.
Came back home after the three kids physicals, and glad that's done. Clean up around here, just finished afternoon outside chores, but a little differently today. Have been getting way too overheated the last week, and then I feel very crummy all evening. So I made sure I was not outside for more than 20 minutes at a time, then would come in and cool off and do something indoors. Am soaking the garden at the moment, so I only have to go out now and then and move the hose. Afternoon animal chores took three 20 minute intervals with breaks in between, but they are done. Little granddaughter and Levi spent some slip and sliding time again today. Got husband's office cleaned up and his new shelf put in so he can now get some stuff off the floor. Emptied the freeze dryer of mushrooms, and I am impressed. They look good, unlike the shriveled up black ones that have been dehydrated. I have a case of Rotel hitting it's use by date, so that's going in next. Everyone liked the bread and butter pickles freeze dried. Cooked beets are a favorite, too.

Big focus here has been making the yard purdy for our neighbor's wedding reception on the 10th. Got back patio all washed down & scrubbed up - replaced some strings of rope lights above out paths that were dead and re-build a little footbridge over a path. All been on the to-do list for a while, nice to have incentive to get it done.

Took my wife in for a crown today, and unfortunately it's worse than the dentist thought. She's going to have to go in for at least 2 more appointments to get it all cleaned out and replaced. On the way home from the dentist - saw a fire and knew it was going to be close to our house - and it's just over a mile away:

We've now got a steady stream of helicopters heading overhead dropping water and fire retardant on it. Looks small enough it shouldn't be a problem, but keeping a prayer going for all the firefighters!
