I just got woken up to one of the cats pissing on my head and pillow. I have no idea why. Either he suddenly lost control of his bladder or he wants to tell me there's something wrong with him health-wise. Might take him to the vet and have him checked out. He's a very sweet cat so I don't think he was doing it to be mean. He peed a LOT so I suspect it was a full bladder. He's one of the older cats. But it was really annoying. I have the pillowcase hanging up right now. Pillow is hand-wash only so I washed it and put a puppy pad on the side that got peed on to absorb the water. Flipped it over and put it in a new pillowcase. I love my cats but sometimes they drive me crazy. Gonna try to get back to sleep and then do some laundry.

Good morning HCL! :)

Just catching up on a couple threads here, or trying to. lol

Been busy trying to stay on top of everything going on. Son's medical stuff is going well - not always smooth sailing, but sailing in the right direction, and we're thankful!

I couldn't say exactly what it is I do all day long. All I know is that I'm busy from the time I get up until the time I crash at night, and I'm more tired than I've ever been before. But at least it keeps me out of trouble. 😂

Glad things are going in the right direction for your son!! Sorry you are so tired!! Life can keep you running sometimes!! Glad you checked in!!

I'm sitting here with my feet up trying to decide what project I want to tackle today. I'm thinking I will try to get the dummy knob attached (but have to use extra wood because there is a bore hole there.
Its the last thing I need to do to keep mice out so I can clean the pantry up and start putting stuff away in it.
I found a reacher/grabber arm thingy so I might start cleaning up in the living room again and I know I need to clean up in the kitchen and front room. Just not sure where to start.

Got Granny's ruffler out and hooked it up to Ruby. Found out it still works.

Purchased sourdough starter from Whispering Willow Farm. I know, you can make a starter but I haven't had much luck with mine. Whispering Willow Farm is very local to me...they are only about 30 minutes away. They are a small, family run organic farm. They dehydrate their sourdough starter for shipment. It's my first time dealing with a dehydrated starter but since they are local and organic, it's not going to hurt. They already shipped it out so I should get it on the next day or so.

Animal and garden chores this morning, went into town and did a whole mass of errands. Our debit cards weren't working, so that was a necessity to go into the bank. Got some clearance tshirts at Walmart (under $4) for me and little granddaughter, got a mobility scooter tire patched since it ran over barbed wire and had four punctures, husband's allergy shots, got gas, and Chic fil a for lunch. Have family therapy in an hr. Hope it's not dramatic. Not in the mood for dramatic today.

Recovering from yesterday's jaunt to the racetrack... back is still sore from weeding the other day. I must have aggravated a nerve or whatever. I put some Tiger Balm on the sore area, and it helped a bit, but I've gotta take it easy till this soreness goes away. Might have a couple of beers later, I'm not in the mood right now, in fact I'll probably lie down and read a Western, that'll give my back a rest. Magus is right: growing old sucks!!! But it beats the alternative, lol.

Got up and straightened up and flattened the flooring (for the most part) in the bathroom. Did sweeping and vacuuming but shopvac clogged. Friend suggested using a broom handle to try to clear it. I'll see if that works. Put a wooden board on the backside of the bore hole in pantry door but didn't have the right hardware to get the knob attached. Still need to drill holes and run some bolts and locknuts through. Trouble is getting things to line up to get the holes right. Might go search in the workshop again for something to plug the hole with on the inside. Good news is, mice can't get in now.

Went to the store to get floor cleaner and other stuff. Actually went to 3 stores: TSC for sweet feed, lumber place for bolts, & Walmart for eggs and floor cleaner. Stopped by post office to get mail. Fed the cows, and am now resting. I'm sure Mom will want me to cook in awhile.

I think my thyroid meds are finally working again.

Lovin’ the music today. Went to the big town for a chainsaw part and music supplies. After a few years off I tried to start playing music again in May. Couldn’t get past the hump or get all the rust knocked off my fingers. My heart wasn’t in it… so stopped. I started again 2 weeks ago. I played with the old dead strings but got past the hump this time. The “hump” is getting enough rust knocked off that it’s a joy to play again instead of just being painful to my ears. Once past that point, playing only gets easier.

Today at the guitar shop I had them pull off my old guitar strings and clean the fret board (badly needed). I also found new picks I like, took a chance and bought some. Played for an hour after I got home. Luv the new picks, they are much easier to grip.

Bought a new Shubb capo, same as my old one (and the one before that), why mess with perfection. I got new finish and string cloths too, never have enough of those. I looked at their new hard shell cases, most are about $140. Found one I sort of like, but not enough to spend the cash.

The neat part was the kid working at the guitar shop. I knew him. The last year we played at the restaurant a little kid started showing up. His mother brought him each week. It wasn’t an open mic situation but… we had “guest”pickers almost every week so he was allowed to sit in and play (quietly in the background).

Back then he played guitar and a harp, better than average. He had talent on the guitar, just didn’t know bluegrass. Anyway, it was the same kid today, except he’s 6’4” and weighed about 240lbs. I think he was in Jr high school way back when. I didn’t recognize him but he knew me. Actually he knew my guitar, said “I was hoping I’d get to play this guitar again”. I had no idea what he was talking about. Who was he and why does he want to play my guitar? again?

Anyway, it was nice to see him and know he still plays. Albeit rock guitar but to each his own… He did tell me about a new fiddlers festival. Some one is trying to start one up again after covid. I hope they succeed, might find some new pickers to play with regularly.

@rusty glad to hear your heart is fine. Stress tests are no fun, if you know what I mean. I need to change cardiologist back to my previous one since I had a good insurance change. Sorry about the infusions.
@Peanut glad you got the music back in ya. You play harp (harmonica) too? I can't get it back for violin or piano. Tried to find a teacher but no luck so far for violin. Those I know who could are too busy professionally. I either do it, or I don't.
@zannej sorry about the rude cat. Hope your meds help ya with the thyroid issue.
@goshengirl can't imagine how relieved you are for improvements for you son. You've got a long road ahead of you, I'd be tired too. It's been a lot to deal with.

Looking forward to the infusions. I feel so much better after.

Patchouli, I don't even know if the cat did it on purpose. He's a very sweet kitty who is one of my best cuddlers. He likes to be picked up and carried around and sleep under the covers next to me or on top of me. He was under the covers and climbed out and started peeing. I think he just desperately had to go. Thyroid meds do seem to be helping now. I've had more energy than I've had in years but I'm still trying not to overdo it and crash.

Nope, don’t play a harmonica. Harps are an oddity, actually frowned on by many bluegrass purists in the south. But not by all and not by me. A novelty is a better word, sort of like playing spoons. During a set a band might have one song where a member plays a harp or spoons but it’s not the norm.

I grew up playing in the homes of others, even in mine, traditional bluegrass was played but… if you could play or sing you were welcome to join in even if you had a washtub bass, spoons, harp… whatever. A couple of people who played at the restaurant did not like the kid and his harp. I stayed out of the “discussions”. I wasn’t in charge and was just there to play music, not politics. I do know the kid quit bringing his harp after the first couple of times. I guess a little birdie whispered in his mom's ear.

Spoons like that scene from 'TITANIC' where the po' folk are having a dance? Me dear departed mum played violin in her younger days, and she told me how some musicians improvised and used whatever 'instruments' they had at hand. Have you ever seen the SDC or Street Drum Corps? I think that was their name, they bang old steel drums, motorcycle pipes, whatever they see fit to use, and they actually sound good, lol. Musically, they're tight, I heard 'em play at the Centennial Air Show on NASNI (Naval Air Station, North Island), and they were pretty darned good! There was also a rock band made up of active-duty sailors, they called themselves the 'Southwest Destroyers' and they rocked! It wasn't a bad air show, but traffic was a nightmare once it ended...

Me mum and I used to watch the Lawrence Welk Show on TV, as she enjoyed it so much... I gradually came to enjoy it as well, especially after I learned that Lawrence Welk used to play at the old-fashioned barn dances & whatnot. I'm thinking ol' Lawrence was scrappier than he let on during the show, he probably had to whip some redneck @$$ when those good ol' boys got all likkered up, lol... Lawrence was a big boy too, he probably threw some mean punches, lol. When he wasn't playing the accordion, that is. Another thing I liked about the program was the way Lawrence would showcase unusual instruments and folks with unusual talents. Tap dancers, for instance, tap dancing is a whole different animal from playing 'regular music'---but that footwork was awesome to this old vertical skateboarder, lol. ;)

Getting over a meat hang over.
We had brisket, ribs, sausages & hamburgers, baked beans, grilled asparagus, eight cheese mac, sauerkraut crested in bacon grease.
Sauerkraut crested in bacon grease was a first for me, it is made like hash browns, only with sauerkraut in bacon grease.

Health food!!! Dang, now I'm getting hungry...

Fixed a few straps and replaced some blown rivets on my wife's and my armor so I could pack it up in the truck. Washed garb for same. Sharpening swords at the moment and then going to work on making a leather waterbottle for the kid tonight.

I think we finished family therapy for good, we will see. The twins had to leave after an hour for their "trauma" therapy about an hour in, so it was just the therapist and us. It sure was good to talk to her alone. She is reporting back to child services that there was no abuse, and recommending a psych evaluation for the twins, and more extensive drug therapy for grandson. She also noticed that granddaughter pulls the strings for grandson, and she is super quiet during therapy, but they have hand signals they use that the therapist noticed so granddaughter can prompt grandson. She was also not amused with grandson when he held his hand up to the therapist to "tell" her to shut up. She didn't have any recommendations for us, as she thinks we've been trying everything. And she understands that they need to go as soon as they graduate. After all this nonsense, it's nice to be believed.

Wow, the truth always comes out!! Guess having to deal with family therapy will pay off!! As I said before, granddaughter has a lot of hard lessons coming her way!!

Yep, her lies and manipulations are insane, and she will learn the hard way. Grandson, though, is on his bad boy reign of terror...between the drugs, then saying that he was going to sell drugs, then the grafitti stuff and going to the riot in Wichita...and he tells the therapist all this junk and thinks she should think it's ok. She is referring him to more therapy. He announced tonight that he will graduate High School, then get his driver's license, then get a job, then start apprenticeship at a tattoo shop, and then....and only then....will he save money to be financially stable and move out. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

Picked peppers and some purple hull peas.
Went to work. Did my usual job and then got to watch AP bust a shoplifter who did not want to leave. She thought if she stayed she couldn't get arrested. Tried to blend in with money center customers and that didn't work either because yes we were busy but we have cameras all over the place so in front of my area was the area where she got busted. I thought about the days when you rarely saw a sign about shoplifters being prosecuted and arrested but that was back when Otasco, Western Auto and Weingarten's was in business.

Reality will not be nice to him!!
